• Counting consecutive items within MS SQL

  Got a problem with a query I'm trying to write. I have a table that lists people that have been sent an email. There is a bit column named Active which is set to true if they have responded. But I need to count the number of consecutive emails the person has been inactive since either their first email or last active email. For example, this basic table shows one person has been sent 9 emails. They have been active within two of the emails (3 & 5). So their inactive count would be 4 as we are counting from email number 6 onwards. PersonID(int) EmailID(int) Active(bit) 1 1 0 1 2 0 1 3 1 1 4 0 1 5 1 1 6 0 1 7 0 1 8 0 1 9 0 Any pointers or help would be great. Regards Greg

  I have been using rails for developing web applications and now i need to do design an api for iphone application and since i used respond to json it also produces json but i use devise for authentication in my web application and when i send email and password along with the api it gives out {"user":{"authentication_token":"Lsusyd27ewgasga63","email":"[email protected]"}} and there is forgot password functionality in the iphone app but in the web application when clicking on forgot password button it sends an email to the users email, whereby the user has to go to his mail and click on the link sent and it will take to the change password path and after changing it the user will be login but in this iphone app i want to send the password to the user mail and the user can use that password and login. How can i do this? Also do i have to create new controllers for api or the web application controller is enough if it respond as json? please help me.

  In my application, a company can have many employees and each employee may have have multiple email addresses. The database schema relates the tables like this: Company - CompanyEmployeeXref - Employee - EmployeeAddressXref - Email I am using Entity Framework and I want to create a LINQ query that returns the name of the company and a comma-separated list of it's employee's email addresses.   I have a fully functional authentication system with a user table that has over fifty columns. It's simple but it does hash encryption with salt, uses email instead of usernames, and has two separate kinds of users with an admin as well. I'm looking to incorporate Devise authentication into my application to beef up the extra parts like email validation, forgetting passwords, remember me tokens, etc... I just wanted to see if anyone has any advice or problems they've encountered when incorporating Devise into an already existing user structure.   Hi all, In php we can assign a method name to a variable and then use that variable to call the method. For example: $image_create_func = 'ImageCreateFromGIF'; $newImage = $image_create_func($oldImage); But can we do this in Flex? In flex, I have the string public var key:String = "email" And I also have a value object searchTerm:SearchTermVO which has a public property "email" (searchTerm.email). When I want to create a new user, it requires me a (wrong-named, confusing field) login (= username), email address and password. However, I want, like Facebook does, only require the user to enter an email address and password, not a username. People will also login with this email address. Can anyone help me?

  We have an automatic reporting and notification system written in .net that sends emails with plain text. We are having to encrypt the messages that we send our clients. The possible implementation approaches we have: Send messages as S/Mime email with attachments. Plain text email with that just contains a link to a web site that will display the message over https. It seems like S/Mime is a simpler solution, as we won't need to create the web application or secure it. Our concern is our interoperability with our clients email clients and more importantly their email filtering software. Has anyone had success or issues deploying a Secure MIME messaging solution?

• protobuf-net NOT faster than binary serialization?

  I wrote a program to serialize a 'Person' class using XMLSerializer, BinaryFormatter and ProtoBuf. I thought protobuf-net should be faster than the other two. Protobuf serialization was faster than XMLSerialization but much slower than the binary serialization. Is my understanding incorrect? Please make me understand this. Thank you for the help. The word page contains the table property of html design page. It occurs only in Word 2003. But in word 2007 the word document contains the text with out table property. • An AuthLogic form is giving me incorrect validation errors -- why?

  Hi everyone, I set up AuthLogic for Rails according to the AuthLogic example: http://github.com/binarylogic/authlogic_example. I can log on successfully to the system, but when accessing users/new.html.erb to register a new user, the form returns the following validation errors: Email is too short (minimum is 6 characters) Email should look like an email address. Login is too short (minimum is 3 characters) Login should use only letters, numbers, spaces, and .-_@ please.
