  • Is there a web-based VNC client that I can use from my own web site? [closed]

    - by Eliot Solomon
I'm interested in being able to control one of my computers remotely, without having to download and install a bunch of software on every machine I want to access my computer from. Is there a VNC client or RDP software that can be embedded in a web page? I realize this seems like it might be a web application based question, but the web application portion would only end up being one small portion of the whole solution. Would VNC really be the way to go for this?

  • Enabling printing feature within the Terminal Server environment that is published to the internet?

    - by Albert Widjaja
I got the home and remote office users connect to the Terminal Server on my Windows Server 2003 that I published securely through Juniper SSL VPN client applet, they use normal internet connection to access the link which pop up the Terminal Server Remote Desktop application, so my question is, how can they print out the document from within their terminal server session ? if it is going through the internal office LAN mapping the printer through Remote Desktop connection is the solution but not for this one. Any kind of help and suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • How do I find all files and directories writable by a specific user?

    - by Pistos
Under Linux, how can I find all the files and directories that are writable (or, actually, not writable) by a particular user? Edit: To clarify, I meant under a particular subdir, not systemwide. And yes, that means all the permutations and combinations of user, group and world writability that would allow that user to write. I know what the question entails semantically, I was hoping for a one- or few-liner to execute to get a list of these files.

  • Controller Device for Media Center Computer

    - by kristof
I am in the process of deciding on what to choose a a controller for a Media Center Computer. I have seen the question Best Keyboard with a built-in pointing device for a media center Mac but it doesn't have many answers, perhaps because of the Mac in the title. I am looking for something like a keyboard with a tracking device, but perhaps there are other alternatives. What would be your recommendations?

  • Acer M5 481pt 6488 use of touchscreen stylus

    - by Scott Decker
I am wanting to do some basic drawing with Adobe Illustrator using a touchscreen stylus. I was looking at an answer to a different question, and Ben Richards had made mention that laptops that support digitizer (possibly wrong terminology) technology is superior. I tried a quick search to see if my model supports that, but I couldn't find anything. How can I find out if my laptop supports this technology? Thanks a bunch!

  • Setting up DNS server on VPS on the internet

    - by Nick Duffell
I have followed multiple online tutorials on setting this up, it is BIND9 on a debian server. It is the only server I have, so it is acting as both ns1, ns1, and the server they domain name should point to itself. It all appears to be working and when I dig the domain name from the server itself I get (what seems to me) the correct output: ; << DiG 9.7.3 << theonetekkit.com.au ;; global options: +cmd ;; Got answer: ;; -HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 18593 ;; flags: qr aa rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 2, ADDITIONAL: 2 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;theonetekkit.com.au. Any ideas? Thanks

  • routing based on source IP

    - by user1977050
I am trying to do source-based routing, following the question http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/131527/routing-based-on-source-ip. The source IP floating one and assigned to a cluster (consists from 2 servers). Let's say that the physical IP on server1 is 192.0.2.1, on server2 192.0.2.2, and the virtual IP is 192.0.2.3 (and this should be the source IP for outgoing traffic). How can I configure static source IP routing for this in RHEL?

  • Access full BIOS settings

    - by FlxEx
I recently purchased a Acer Aspire TimelineU M5-481TG-6814, only to discover that the sound isn't working. Through my research, it seems that the most probable cause is that the onboard audio is disabled in the BIOS. However, the option to enable the onboard audio just isn't present in the BIOS. So my question is: is there any way of accessing such settings in the BIOS? Some extra information: link my purchase System BIOS version: InsydeH20 Setup Utility Rev3.7, V1.05

  • Disable visual system beep on Karmic

    - by pzico
Some programs are about to make me epileptic with excessive screen flashing/blinking (terminator etc.). In Ubuntu Hardy Heron I could solve the problem by unchecking System-Preferences-Sound-System Beep-Visual system beep. However on Karmic Koala there is no such option. I googled and found many solutions for turning off visual beep/bell. However nothing seems to work. So my question is that what is the exact alternative to disable Visual system beep on Karmic?

  • Nagios vs Splunk

    - by dan_vitch
I am looking to implement log tracking at my current company. After some research it seems Nagios and Splunk are the two best options. I was wondering if there is a consensus with which is better. I understand that Splunk can be quite pricey if the non-free version is used. That being said I can imagine the answer to my question will be "If you have the money use Splunk, if not use Nagios"
