  • Path for a beginning web developer

    I'm an experienced iOS programmer and have recently began to dabble in web development to expand my horizons. I've found it quite interesting and was wondering what learning path I should take through all the numerous languages. Here's what I planned on doing: HTML+CSS- PHP/Jquery Does that sound reasonable? Currently I'm nearly confident with my html/css abilities, and am planning to move ahead. Any good suggestions you guys could throw my way?

  • Run javascript function after Server-Side validation is complete.

    Ok, I've got a lightbox with a small form (2 fields) in it, inside an UpdatePanel, and I want to close this lightbox (must be done via javascript) when the 'Save' button is pressed. However, there is a need to have a server-side CustomValidator on the page, and I only want to close the lightbox if this returns as valid. Does anyone know a way to trigger javascript (or jQuery) code from a server-side validator?

    What is the efficient way to search highest number of cells in big table with numerous colspan (merge cells ** colspan should be ignored so in below example highest number of cells is 4 in first row). Is it js/jquery with reg expression or just the loop with bubble sorting. I got one link as below explainig use of regex is it ideal way ... can someone suggest pseudo code for this.     Heya, I am looking for a way to close a scripty2 dialog like this : http://mir.aculo.us/stuff/scripty2-ui/test/functional/controls_dialog.html From outside of the dialog (i.e. with firebug command line) but my javascript mojo is a bit limited and after 30 min of going around the DOM I cannot find a way. Any hints ? NB : scripty2 is a rewrite of script.aculo.us which uses bits of Jquery UI.
