  • What language or application should be used in developing website to make it secure and make it toug

    I am planning to get my website development outsourced to a third party developer. Need your help in deciding on how/ what technology to be used to make it very secure. Since I am not a techie I need the website developed in a way, so that it is easy for me to maintain it and modify content easily if required. The main purpose of the website is to provide company information about services offered and then also to exchange documents and other file using FTP server.   • how to enable iFrame designMode in a local webpage without using the localhost server?

    The code... <html> <body> <iframe id="editableFrame"></iframe> <script type="text/javascript"> editableFrame.document.designMode="on"; </script> </body> </html> gets the iFrame editable only when run off a server(http://...)(online or from localhost). How do I get this working by simply opening it up as a local html file(file:///...) in the browser? Some browser specific notes: 1. Firefox needs slightly different code to enable designMode but the problem still remains. 2. IE8 gets me the behavior I want with this code, but it pops up a warning about enabling ActiveX controls which the user must accept before getting the iFrame editable. 3. Opera 10.5 is the only browser that has the behavior I want... iFrames are editable without needing to run the code off a server.

    Hello, I am trying to find the best option to create a simple progress bar that I need to be triggered periodically from within another JavaScript script. Every few minutes, a timer would cause the progress bar to start going from 0 to 100%. Once it reaches 100%, the bar would reset to 0. I am trying to implement a smooth animated version of the bar, like this one: http://www.webappers.com/progressBar/. (I tried adapting this particular one but I could not get it to work the way I described) I am looking into the jQuery UI ProgressBar: Is it possible to use it in the manner I have described?     I am producing a javascript-based widget. Nothing complex just a few document.writes... When I place it inline in the page it renders fine in all browsers. When I place it externally and load it via it fails to render in Firefox and IE but not Chrome. Anyone know why and a possible workaround?

    How can I write Http server in TornadoWeb that will support persistent Connections. I mean will be able to receive many requests and answer to them without closing connection. How does it actually work in async? I just want to know how to write handler to handle persistent connection. How actually would it work?   • Mac vs. Windows Browser Font Height Rendering Issue

    I'm using a custom font and the @font-face tag. In Windows, everything looks great, regardless of whether it's Firefox, Chrome, or IE. On Mac, it's a different story. For some reason, the Mac font renderer thinks the font is a lot shorter than it is. Shouldn't it need to parse HTML source FIRST Before it parses CSS file (I assume which triggers the 'Recalculate Style') and Java Script file (I assume which triggers the 'Function Call')

  • Switching to a VPS

    Well, I know absolutely nothing about the subject, so I really need help. I currently have a website running on google app-engine (Java) and I can't get it to what I want because of app engine's limitations (no full text search mainly). The traffic is low, never reached 15% of the free quota (around 1500 daily pageviews). I also have 3 sites in drupal hosted in a shared hosting service, and this is giving me problems, because the server speed is awful. The sites are VERY low trafic, but load times are bad, and I might need to add more sites for some clients, so this will only get worse. So, i'm planning to move all that to VPS. The question is, can I have 2 http servers running in the same VPS? because I will need Apache-php-drupal server and a java server (tomcat?). I have really no idea on this, so any tip will be very helpful to me. Thanks!

("test.jpg") I tried to use WebBrowser control, to download and render picture, but it only works when WebBrowser placed in displayed form. In other ways it's render only black rectangle. But i want to render picture without any visual effect (creating, activating form etc.)

  • jQuery Cluetip not activated until after hover or click event

    I'm not sure what is causing this, but I am using cluetip and binding it to a live event (either click or mouseenter), but in each situation the cluetip isn't firing until after one click or hover event. I am using the live event for ajax loaded content, but I'm also having this issue with non-Ajax loaded content. I'm not sure why this is happening - can anyone see where I might be going wrong?   • Android WebView seems to ignore "viewport" information on web pages

    I have a website that is using the viewport META tag to tell mobile browsers how to display content ( ). Viewing the page in the Android browser looks correct (and iPhone, etc). When I load the page into a WebView component in an android Application, the WebView ignores the "VIEWPORT" tag, and renders the page at "full" resolution, which is zoomed-in in this case.

  • Web-serving a file : Firefox truncates name

    I'm serving a file from Lighttpd whose name contains space-characters. I'm using mimetype "application/octet-stream" When I download this in Chrome, it works perfectly. But when I download in Firefox, the filename is truncated at the first space. Is this to do with the mimetype? With some other lightty config? Or maybe something to do with the kind of space-character I'm using?
