  Hi Guys, I am sending an AJAX request using POST over X-Domain for a widget we are producing for our website. The problem we are facing is that this is getting blocked. My question is - for "modern browsers" [Chrome, Safari, FF, IE8] - it is my understanding that setting "Access-Control" headers Access-Control-Allow-Origin: http://www.test.com Access-Control-Allow-Methods: POST, GET, OPTIONS Access-Control-Allow-Headers: * Access-Control-Max-Age: 1728000 Will allow these "POST" requests to work ? But for IE7 we need to implement some "custom" JSONP solution? Am I correct in this ?

  I have the following problem: I make a custom hosts file to test some features of my application and then push it to my android emulator. The thing is that these settings do not take effect immediately. I have to wait about 10 minutes before they become active. So my question is: how to make the new hosts file active instantly? I have many different settings to test and I can't wait 10 minutes every time.

• How to create a project template for Ruby on Rails projects?

  When I build Rails applications I find myself doing the same things over and over again. This includes adding the same gems/plugins, configuration info and custom initializers, rake tasks etc... etc.... This can't be a good thing. So, is there a way to package all this repetitive code into some sort of project template ... so that I can do a "rails myapp" and have everything good to go from there? • Sharepoint, error on adding a webpart to a totally new page.

  I have a problem on adding a webpart to sharepoint page. I have a blank page in the sharepoint, and I have a custom control uploaded to the site, on adding the webpart the the sharepoint page I get the following error: "Attempted to use an object that has ceased to exist. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80030102 (STG_E_REVERTED))" I get that error even if the sharepoint page is totally blank and so is the web part.

  Hi All I have a custom query in dripal, this query is: select count(distinct B.src) from node A, url_alias B where concat('node/',A.nid)= B.src; now, nid in node is primary key and i have made src as an index in url_alias table. after waiting for more than a minute i got this: +-----------------------+ | count(distinct B.src) | +-----------------------+ | 325715 | +-----------------------+ 1 row in set (1 min 24.37 sec) now my question is: why did this query take this long, and how to optimize it?? • DATA command hangs

  Hello, what can i do, if a Mailserver accepts a connection but does not return any data? The default javax.mail implementation just hangs indefinitley. Event setting the smtp.timeout does not help - it still hangs. I even tried to set a custom SocketFactory to set the sotimeouts and solinger directly, but it still hangs. Somehow the socket does get kept alive? But how? Thx for any ideas! Ciao, Nils

  Hello, I use code-generation for my data access layer and Doxygen for documentation. My problem is that I can't add Xml comments on the generated classes since they will be overwritten as soon as I re-generate the code. To be more precise I can add Xml comments to my custom methods (which are in a separate file as partial classes) but I can't do it on data properties. Any suggestions?

• How do I diagnose a failure in the Membership service on an ASP.NET remote site?

  Yesterday I added a custom MembershipProvider to an ASP.NET web application, but when I deployed the application to its remote host server, it failed. I know I had the login info correct, and I also know that for nearly any exception in the login process, the Login control displays the standard error message, "Your login failed", so I assume something is wrong in the code/config. What can I do to diagnose what is wrong on the server?

  I'm trying to remove the unsightly embedded <STYLE> tag the built-in Recent Comments widget puts in my <HEAD>, but I can't seem to get the syntax right. It originally calls add_action( 'wp_head', array(&$this, 'recent_comments_style') ); to add it (in wp-includes/default-widgets.php, line 609), and I'm trying to undo it. I think it should be something like this: remove_action('wp_head', 'WP_Widget_Recent_Comments::recent_comments_style'); but with all the variations I've tried I still can't get it right.
