Is there a way to forcibly terminate an SSH session in PuTTY, short of closing the PuTTY window?
For example, in OpenSSH, I can use the ~. escape sequence to kill the connection.
This is useful when the SSH session stops responding for some reason, but I don't want to lose any of my current session-specific settings. In that case, I'd like to kill the session and then use Restart Session to reconnect.
Hello,
I opened .exe file in internet explorer by mistake after that i am not able to open any exe files, all files are open in internet explorer. The .exe association is corrupted. Please help me to resolve this issue.

I'm looking for a Linux utility that allows me to define arbitrary keyboard shortcuts that will move the frontmost window to a specific absolute position on-screen, depending on the shortcut.
An OSX utility which does this is Breeze (http://autumnapps.com/breeze/ ) -- Is there a Linux equivalent?
From the doc , it said
"For best performance, the majority of your active set should fit in RAM."
So for example, my db.stats() give me
{
"db" : "mydb",
"collections" : 16,
"objects" : 21452,
"avgObjSize" : 768.0516501957859,
"dataSize" : 16476244,
"storageSize" : 25385984,
"numExtents" : 43,
"indexes" : 70,
"indexSize" : 15450112,
"fileSize" : 469762048,
"ok" : 1
}
Which value is the working set size?
Whenever I start up my laptop with Xubuntu on it, a Terminal window opens and just sits in the taskbar - as though I opened it myself.
Anyone know if there's some sort of list of applications which open at boot time. Maybe Terminal got on that list somehow?
Whenever I try to click a message in Outlook 2003 or do "New Message" I get a Save As file window and the program stops responding.
This also happens when I try to open Word files.
I've tried rebooting and I've tried to go through the repair process on the Office install disk.
I have a Windows 7 computer which have a strange behavior: when preview is enabled in explorer, I double-click on any Word document, Word is launched, the document is loaded, and immediatly explorer is in the foreground window (so Word is in the background). The whole process take less than one second.
Only with Word. Not Excel or anything.
Only on one computer (5 others are identical and installed the same day).
Does anyone know how to opena document in a new window instead of a new tab in Lotus Symphony? I would like to compare two spreadsheets and can not figure out a way to display them side by side. I am using v1.3.0 on a Mac. Thanks!
Is it possible to enforce a maximum rsize/wsize in nfsd? I'm having issues related to IP fragmentation (yes, I'm stuck with NFS-over-UDP, contrary to the warnings in the manpage), and have no practical access to the client mount command (buried in one of many TFTP boot images).
http://nfs.sourceforge.net/nfs-howto/ar01s05.html lists a kernel source parameter limiting the maximum block size, but I'm not gong to get away with recompiling the nfsd kernel module so that's not really an option either :-(
I work with four monitors and software that displays a great many windows. Every now and then things go wrong and I'll end up with awindow that is partially or completely "off the screen". Is there a trick or utility that will help me rescue the windows and bring them back in to view.
How do you decrease or shrink the size of a KVM virtual machine disk?
I allocated a virtual disk of 500GB (stored at /var/lib/libvirt/images/vm1.img), and I'm finding that overkill, so now I'd like to free up some of that space for use with other virtual machines. There seems to be a lot answers on how to increase image storage, but not decrease it. I found the virt-resize tool, but it only seems to work with raw disk partitions, not disk images.
I have a dual monitor setup at work. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, and I would like to take advantage of the docking feature, whereby you can drag awindow to the side of the monitor and have it expand and fill to half the screen. Trouble is, I would like to drag it to the inside edge(adjoining the other screen) and it does not activate.
How would I go about activating this for the inside edge?
I increased the disk size of one of my VM when it was running. After a reboot, I get the following error message (at boot time):
Mounting local filesystems...failed
Now the VM is only accessible through ESX console (not through ssh), and nothing is working anymore....
I already tried to run fsck, but without success.
The result of mount:
The result of blkid:
The result of fstab:
Thanks for your help

I have to perform various task such as restarting process, monitor process state check disk space, log monitoring on Window server 2003 machine. For this i am using remote desktop access which is very slow. Is there any alternate (Tool or Framework) for windows server where i can execute my script on my machine and the required task will be performed on the remote machine in somewhat interactive manner (like putty in linux)
I received a recommendation from my hosting provider noting that a general rule in production server management is to ensure that the memory on your database server is larger than the size of your total database.
Our database is 1800mb (and growing) and we're being told to purchase a 2GB server. This didn't sit right with me, but I'm not an expert in production server management. We're running a MySQL db with mostly InnoDB tables and some MyISAMs.
Thanks!
When i click on network in window vista i can't see LInux computer in there

I'd like to have screen write its log files to the name of the window. how can I accomplish this ?
I'm losing a lot of precious vertical screen real estate to the fat border at the top of each window. is there anything I can do to make it go away or get it down to 2 pixels?
