• Does the keyword blog in url impove seo?

  I have seen a couple of site which has high number of hits. They are mostly tutorial sites and blogs that address software issue/errors. I wonder if the kewybord "blog" has a very positive effect in SEO? In my own site, I have install word press in root folder to avoid any blog keyword. I also did this to keep urls shallow (deeper url are not good for SEO). But I may want to think on it again. The sites I am referring too are http://blog.sqlauthority.com http://veerasundar.com/blog/2011/11/making-xampp-to-serve-any-directory-outside-htdocs/ I know there are standard (sort of) class names or ID that identify different contents and makes it easier for the search engine to identify contents like, "container", "menu". The use of word "blog" would mean this is about dicussing/tutoring something and have a very positive effect on SEO?

  I want to install squid3 and eCAP module on my latest ubuntu. Squid installed well with command i followed these instructions. http://e-healthexpert.org/node/431 sudo apt-get install squid3 but how do i configure it to enable eCAP module ?. I need to give something like --enable-ecap option while installation, which i could not. • Should I use title case in URLs?

  We are currently deciding on a consistent naming convention across a site with multiple web applications. Historically, I've been an advocate of the 'lowercase all the letters!' when creating URLs: http://example.com/mysystem/account/view/1551 However, within the last year or two, specifically since I began using ASP.NET MVC & had more dealings with REST based URLs, I've become a fan of capitalizing the first letter of each section/word within the URL as it makes it easier to read (imho). http://example.com/MySystem/Account/View/1551 We're not in a situation where people need to read or be able to understand the URLs, so that's not a driver per se. The main thing we are after is a consistent approach that is rational and makes sense. Are there any standards that declare it good to do one way or another, or issues that we may run into on (at least realistically modern) setups that would choose a preference over another? What is the general consensus for this debate currently?

  I have a website that has an SSL certificate installed, so that if I access the website using https instead of http I will be able to connect using a secure connection. However, I have noticed that I can still access the website non-securely, ie. by using http instead of https. How can I prevent people using the website in a non-secure manner? If I have a directory on the website, eg. samples/, can I prevent non-secure connections to just this directory?

  I'm using the Open Sans web font from Google Web Fonts on my website. I only need the basic latin subset, but I do use the Psi (?) character quite often as well and I would like to use the Open Sans version of that character, without having to include the entire greek subset. I looked at this help page which shows how to embed specific characters only using the text parameter, but there's no mention of including specific characters.   We have a large database of items which are viewable as individual items (they are plants) (url example http://www.plantify.co.uk/Abelia-chinensis/plant-5087) or in a list view (url example http://www.plantify.co.uk/page-1/plant). There is a link on the individual page to the list view. We want to index in google for the term Abelia chinensis. My question revolves around the list view and its impact on SEO. Should we prevent google from indexing the list view? Should we put a no follow on the link to the list view to prevent us from losing link 'juice' to a page that is really on for navigation/

The URL that is accessed for this example is http://osticket.cts/helpdesk/scp/css/main.css and I would like it to use the css file at http://osticket.cts/test.css why won't this .htaccess file (in web root, not /helpdesk/scp/) work? Is there an easy way to debug these rules, some way to find out what apache did when the URL was accessed and where it's failing? error.log doesn't show anything useful. • Expanding your home directory size

  I would like to copy or expand my /home directory ... All tutorials talks about moving the home directory from a partition to another but the problem that I only have one partition that was more than 300 gigs (before I resize it and create a new partition) although I see 30 Gigs only on my home directory (4 Gigs left :( ) I resized it and created a new partition as you can see in the next image I've tried booting from Ubuntu live CD and from a USB and what I can see in Gparted is exactly as in the picture below I would like to move my home directory to the new partition of expand it.   My Laptop was working just fine a day back but it started show the following error on booting: error: couldn't read file So, I googled about it and used a Live-CD to use Boot-Repair as told here: "can't read file" error after installation causes system to not boot I was given this link: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1441528/ if there are issues still. • Making XNA Play Nice With 3DS Max, Boundiing Spheres

  I'm using 3DS Max 2010 with the KW x-porter plugin, which outputs a .X file (just downloaded the very latest version). Note, that models I make in Milkshape don't seem to be having these problems. I've also tried to export an FBX file from 3DS Max 2010 and have been getting similar results. What are your suggestions in terms of exporting *.3DS models to a workable XNA form? What tools do you use?. • Does FFMpeg support gpu acceleration of media encoding/decoding?

  I was wondering if ffmpeg supported gpu acceleration. I was reading on their websites and came across contradicting information. http://www.ffmpeg.org/general.html#Video-Codecs -H.264 / AVC / MPEG-4 AVC / MPEG-4 part 10 (VDPAU acceleration) http://ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/wiki/x264EncodingGuide -Will a graphics card make x264 encode faster? No. libx264 doesn't use them (at least not yet). There are some proprietary encoders that utilize the GPU, but that does not mean they are well optimized, though encoding time may be faster; and they might be worse than x264 anyway, and possibly slower. Regardless, FFmpeg today doesn't support any means of gpu encoding, outside of libx264. If not, is there any way to add gpu acceleration to h.264 encoding/decoding?

• Installing netcdf c++ interface on ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

  I am using a code which employs the modern netcdf c++ interface (netcdf namespace, include file is called just netcdf without .h or similar, ncFile class, etc) and have just switched to ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS. I installed netcdf and libnetcdf6 with apt-get, but I still get the "old" headers in /usr/local/include (netcdf.h, netcdfcpp.h, etc). In Ubuntu, the library version for netcdf is 4.1.1, while at my own computer with Mac Os X (where I have the right netcdf include file) the version is 4.2.1.1 . I cannot modify the source code I am using. I would like to know if there is a way to upgrade the netcdf library on ubuntu to support the modern c++ ointerface, or, if I have to manually compile it, if you think that using src2pkg is a good idea. This is my first experience with Ubuntu. Thanks in advance.
