    - by Leon
I want to create an array of objects, so what I did was to create a library but I can't figure out how to actually dynamically create instances of it in a loop and store each instance in an array. Can anyone tell me please?

  • What is the best way to merge mp3 files?

    - by Dan Williams
I've got many, many mp3 files that I would like to merge into a single file. I've used the command line method copy /b 1.mp3+2.mp3 3.mp3 but it's a pain when there's a lot of them and their namings are inconsistent. The time never seems to come out right either.

  • some unclear php "symbolics"

    - by serhio
    I am a php beginner and seed on the forum such a php expression: $regex = <<<'END' / ( [\x00-\x7F] # single-byte sequences 0xxxxxxx | [\xC0-\xDF][\x80-\xBF] # double-byte sequences 110xxxxx 10xxxxxx | [\xE0-\xEF][\x80-\xBF]{2} # triple-byte sequences 1110xxxx 10xxxxxx * 2 | [\xF0-\xF7][\x80-\xBF]{3} # quadruple-byte sequence 11110xxx 10xxxxxx * 3 ) | ( [\x80-\xBF] ) # invalid byte in range 10000000 - 10111111 | ( [\xC0-\xFF] ) # invalid byte in range 11000000 - 11111111 /x END; is this code correct? what should mean some strange (4 me) constructions like <<< 'END' / /x and END; thanks

  • Proper way to use Linq with WPF

    - by Ingó Vals
I'm looking for a good guide into the right method of using Linq to Sql together with WPF. Most guides only go into the bare basics like how to show data from a database but noone I found goes into how to save back to the database. Can you answer or point out to me a guide that can answer these questions. I have a separate Data project because the same data will also be used in a web page so I have the repository method. That means I have a seperate class that uses the DataContext and there are methods like GetAllCompanies() and GetCompanyById ( int id ). 1) Where there are collections is it best to return as a IQueryable or should I return a list? Inside the WPF project I have seen reccomendations to wrap the collection in a ObservabgleCollection. 2) Why should I use ObservableCollection and should I use it even with Linq / IQueryable Some properties of the linq entities should be editable in the app so I set them to two-way mode. That would change the object in the observableCollection. 3) Is the object in the ObservableCollection still a instance of the original linq entity and so is the change reflected in the database ( when submitchanges is called ) I should have somekind of save method in the repository. But when should I call it? What happens if someone edits a field but decides not to save it, goes to another object and edits it and then press save. Doesn't the original change also save? When does it not remember the changes to a linq entity object anymore. Should I instance the Datacontext class in each method so it loses scope when done. 4) When and how to call the SubmitChanges method 5) Should I have the DataContext as a member variable of the repository class or a method variable To add a new row I should create a new object in a event ( "new" button push ) and then add it to the database using a repo method. 6) When I add the object to the database there will be no new object in the ObservableCollection. Do I refresh somehow. 7) I wan't to reuse the edit window when creating new but not sure how to dynamically changing from referencing selected item from a listview to this new object. Any examples you can point out.

  • Does code in the constructor add to code in subclass constructors?

    - by Jeremy Rudd
Does code in the constructor add to code in subclass constructors? Or does the subclass's constructor override the superclass? Given this example superclass constructor: class Car{ function Car(){ trace("CAR") } } ...and this subclass constructor: class FordCar extends Car{ function FordCar(){ trace("FORD") } } When an instance of FordCar is created, will this trace "Car" and "Ford" ??

  • How to fix an error in a Mercurial changeset comment?

    - by Sly
Is there a way to rewrite the hg commit message if the wrong information was entered? We always include our Bug ID when we commit a changeset. For instance: hg commit -m "Bug 14585: LastName field should be mandatory" But If I put the wrong bug ID, is there a way (through an extension maybe) to fix the comment once the changeset has been committed and pushed to a central repo?

  • How do I stop Emacs automatically inserting hyphens at the beginning of new lines in fundamental fil

    - by Bryce Thomas
Hi there, I'm jotting down some notes in Emacs in Fundamental Fill mode. I'm starting each one of my notes with a "-" on a new line. The problem is, whenever one of the notes I'm writing is too long to fit on a single line, it gets pushed down to the next line (which I want to happen) but Emacs goes ahead and automatically inserts another "-" for me out the front on the new line (which I don't want to happen). Is there a way to stop Emacs from exhibiting this "helpful" behaviour?

  • Coding Conventions - Naming Enums

    - by Walter White
Hi all, Is there a document describing how to name enumerations? My preference is that an enum is a type. So, for instance, you have an enum Fruit{Apple,Orange,Banana,Pear, ... } NetworkConnectionType{LAN,Data_3g,Data_4g, ... } I am opposed to naming it: FruitEnum NetworkConnectionTypeEnum I understand it is easy to pick off which files are enums, but then you would also have: NetworkConnectionClass FruitClass Also, is there a good document describing the same for constants, where to declare them, etc.? I'm trying to set up a JCarousel instance witht the wrap set to circular, however, I noticed an issue where I "inspect element" in Chrome, duplicate elements are added to the html when the slides repeat (it can be viewed on the official example page). http://sorgalla.com/projects/jcarousel/examples/static_circular.html I know this is an open bug on GitHub. I'm just wondering if anyone has found a temporary workaround. Thanks in advance, - Scott

  • How do i replace a key up keyCode with another in jQuery?

    - by Brian Scott
I currently have a table which only has a single editable column. I have a jQCuery change() event associated with the column's input controls to prevent any non numeric keys being pressed, other than tab / delete / backspace. I would like to replace the Enter key with a Tab press. Can someone please show me the relevant statement to replace the keyCode based on the Enter character being intercepted?

I need to implement in a commercial application (freight services), is there any reliable alternative? Development language/platform: C#, .NET Regards,

  • C++ vs. C++/CLI: Const qualification of virtual function parameters

    - by James McNellis
[All of the following was tested using Visual Studio 2008 SP1] In C++, const qualification of parameter types does not affect the type of a function (8.3.5/3: "Any cv-qualifier modifying a parameter type is deleted") So, for example, in the following class hierarchy, Derived::Foo overrides Base::Foo: struct Base { virtual void Foo(const int i) { } }; struct Derived : Base { virtual void Foo(int i) { } }; Consider a similar hierarchy in C++/CLI: ref class Base abstract { public: virtual void Foo(const int) = 0; }; ref class Derived : public Base { public: virtual void Foo(int i) override { } }; If I then create an instance of Derived: int main(array<System::String ^> ^args) { Derived^ d = gcnew Derived; } it compiles without errors or warnings. When I run it, it throws the following exception and then terminates: An unhandled exception of type 'System.TypeLoadException' occurred in ClrVirtualTest.exe Additional information: Method 'Foo' in type 'Derived'...does not have an implementation. That exception seems to indicate that the const qualification of the parameter does affect the type of the function in C++/CLI (or, at least it affects overriding in some way). However, if I comment out the line containing the definition of Derived::Foo, the compiler reports the following error (on the line in main where the instance of Derived is instantiated): error C2259: 'Derived': cannot instantiate abstract class If I add the const qualifier to the parameter of Derived::Foo or remove the const qualifier from the parameter of Base::Foo, it compiles and runs with no errors. I would think that if the const qualification of the parameter affects the type of the function, I should get this error if the const qualification of the parameter in the derived class virtual function does not match the const qualification of the parameter in the base class virtual function. If I change the type of Derived::Foo's parameter from an int to a double, I get the following warning (in addition to the aforementioned error, C2259): warning C4490: 'override': incorrect use of override specifier; 'Derived::Foo' does not match a base ref class method So, my question is, effectively, does the const qualification of function parameters affect the type of the function in C++/CLI? If so, why does this compile and why are there no errors or warnings? If not, why is an exception thrown?

  • Ways to clean up java applications.

    - by Begui
How do java people handle clean up of their apps when the program receives a kill signal? For instance, there is an application i connect to which wants any third party app ( my app) to send a "finish" command. What is the best say to send that "finish" command if one does a kill -9 on me.

  • Updating protected using update_all

    - by Jack
Since you cannot use the normal 'update' and 'update_attribute' methods from ActiveRecord to update a protected attribute, is the following the best way to update an attribute for a single user? User.update_all("admin = true","id = 1") I'm guessing this doesn't lie in the 'best practice' category, so I'm just curious if there is a more appropriate way.

  • Are Hibernate named HQL queries (in annotations) optimised?

    - by Graham Lea
A new colleague has just suggested using named HQL queries in Hibernate with annotations (i.e. @NamedQuery) instead of embedding HQL in our XxxxRepository classes. What I'd like to know is whether using the annotation provides any advantage except for centralising quueries? In particular, is there some performances gain, for instance because the query is only parsed once when the class is loaded rather than every time the Repository method is executed?

  • What's the performance penalty of using isKindOfClass in Objective C?

    - by durcicko
    I'm considering introducing: if ([myInstance isKindOfClass:[SomeClass class]]) { do something...} into a piece of code that gets called pretty often. Will I introduce a significant performance penalty? In Objective C, is there a quicker way of assessing whether a given object instance is of certain class type? For example, is the following quicker? (I realize the test is somewhat different) if (myInstance.class == [SomeClass class]) { do something else...}

  • how can we use AsynCallback method of web service in asp.net

    - by sameer
    Hi All, I was going through the proxy class which is generated using wsdl.exe found the asyncmethod like BeginAsynXXX() and EndAsyncXXX(). i understood how to utilize them on Windows application but i was wondering how can we use them in Web Application built using asp.net here is the code for web service client build as windows application.can any tell me how we can do this with web application. using System; using System.Runtime.Remoting.Messaging; using MyFactorize; class TestCallback { public static void Main(){ long factorizableNum = 12345; PrimeFactorizer pf = new PrimeFactorizer(); //Instantiate an AsyncCallback delegate to use as a parameter //in the BeginFactorize method. AsyncCallback cb = new AsyncCallback(TestCallback.FactorizeCallback); // Begin the Async call to Factorize, passing in our // AsyncCalback delegate and a reference // to our instance of PrimeFactorizer. IAsyncResult ar = pf.BeginFactorize(factorizableNum, cb, pf); // Keep track of the time it takes to complete the async call // as the call proceeds. int start = DateTime.Now.Second; int currentSecond = start; while (ar.IsCompleted == false){ if (currentSecond < DateTime.Now.Second) { currentSecond = DateTime.Now.Second; Console.WriteLine("Seconds Elapsed..." + (currentSecond - start).ToString() ); } } // Once the call has completed, you need a method to ensure the // thread executing this Main function // doesn't complete prior to the call-back function completing. Console.Write("Press Enter to quit"); int quitchar = Console.Read(); } // Set up a call-back function that is invoked by the proxy class // when the asynchronous operation completes. public static void FactorizeCallback(IAsyncResult ar) { // You passed in our instance of PrimeFactorizer in the third // parameter to BeginFactorize, which is accessible in the // AsyncState property. PrimeFactorizer pf = (PrimeFactorizer) ar.AsyncState; long[] results; // Get the completed results. results = pf.EndFactorize(ar); //Output the results. Console.Write("12345 factors into: "); int j; for (j = 0; j<results.Length;j++){ if (j == results.Length - 1) Console.WriteLine(results[j]); else Console.Write(results[j] + ", "); } } }
