  • Can't export release build / compile for Adobe Air 1.0

    I opened up an old project in Flex Builder 3 which runs on Adobe AIR 1.0. I believe it was originally written in Flex Builder 2. When I try to run the air app, nothing happens. When I try to export a release build, I get this error: If I change the main-app.xml file to use the 1.5 version of the namespace, it builds fine. Unfortunately, the clients environment runs on 1.0. Ideas?

  • Creating custom taskbar icon in Flex application

    I'm trying to create custom icons for my taskbar/desktop icons in my Flex WindowedApplication. So far, I've edited my -app.xml file to include the following: icons/t_16.png icons/t_32.png icons/t_48.png icons/t_128.png When the application is run, however, the default flex/air icon is still showing. I have my systemChrome set to standard, and transparent to false, not that they have any relevance to this. Any ideas?

    As far as I know I can access the web.xml <context-param>s by making my class implement ServletContextListener and use the ServletContext.getInitParam(String) to read them, but it´s cumbersome as only one instance of the class will receive the contextInitialized(ServletContextEvent sce) call, so I need to make the ServletContext an static member of the class. What other ways exist of setting conf params at deployment time and what are the recommended ones?

  • How to download file into string with progress callback?

    I would like to use the WebClient (or there is another better option?) but there is a problem. I understand that opening up the stream takes some time and this can not be avoided. However, reading it takes a strangely much more amount of time compared to read it entirely immediately. Is there a best way to do this? I mean two ways, to string and to file. Progress is my own delegate and it's working good. FIFTH UPDATE: Finally, I managed to do it. In the meantime I checked out some solutions what made me realize that the problem lies elsewhere. I've tested custom WebResponse and WebRequest objects, library libCURL.NET and even Sockets. The difference in time was gzip compression. Compressed stream lenght was simply half the normal stream lenght and thus download time was less than 3 seconds with the browser.     I'm revising this question after reading the resources mentioned in the original answers and working through implementing it. I'm using the google maps api to integrate a map into my Rails site. I have a markets model with the following columns: ID, name, address, lat, lng. On my markets/index view, I want to populate a map with all the markets in my markets table. I'm trying to output @markets as json data, and that's where I'm running into problems. I have the basic map displaying, but right now it's just a blank map. I'm following the tutorials very closely, but I can't get the markers to generate dynamically from the json. Any help is much appreciated!   • What .NET serializers have fixed size output for a given class?

    XML based serializers have variable size output for a given class. I can't use them to append data to my Memcached list, since I won't be able to retrieve that information later. But if I knew my serializer produced a fixed size output (N bytes), I could retrieve my data by splitting my list in N bytes chunks and then deserializing those chunks individually. I have created my own serializer for my class, but what other serializers I could use?

  • Finding easily parseable chemical element data

    I am writing an application that needs simple data found (mostly) on the periodic table of elements, such as atomic mass, atomic number, state, etc. However, I would prefer not to manually enter this data. I managed to find the NIST website (http://www.nist.gov/pml/data/edi.cfm) with all of the data I need, but not in a downloadable format. Where can I find this data? Preferably, it would be in an XML/YAML/JSON/other documented format, however, any format would be helpful.
