  Hello. I would like to stream videos that reside at the webserver from within a ExpressionMediaPlayer control. The following results in a network error. I believe that the problem is with my Uri. I have the videos inside the 'ClentBin' folder. • Remove Setup Project does not delete it from file system using Visual Studio

  Using Visual Studio 2008 - I add a Setup project (from Setup and Deployment Template) and its called by default Setup1. I then decide I don't want this so I right click on the project and select Remove. Later on I decide I want to add a Setup project again but it's default name is called Setup2 and when you look at the project folder you can see the old Setup1 files are still there! Why has Visual Studio not deleted these from the file system when I selected Remove - and is there a way to make it delete them from the file system as default behaviour?

• How do I allow inline images with data urls on .NET 4 without triggering request validation?

  I'm using the jQuery jstree plugin (http://jstree.com) in a ASP.NET MVC 2 project on .NET 4 RC. It comes with some stylesheets with inline images with data urls, like this: .tree-checkbox ul { background-image:url(data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAgACAIAAAB4dGf///yH5BAEAAAEALAAAAAACAAIAAAICRF4AOw==); } Now, the url for the background image contains a colon, which .NET 4 thinks is an unsafe character, so I get this error message: A potentially dangerous Request.Path value was detected from the client (:). According to the documentation, I am supposed to be able to prevent this by adding <pages validateRequest="false" /> to my Web.config, but that doesn't seem to help. I have tried adding it to the main Web.config for the application, as well as to a special Web.config in the /config folder, but to no avail. Is there any way to get .NET to allow this?

  So far I've only checked things out and back in to Source Safe but now I want to create a project for parallel development. That is, I want to Share and Branch the entire project. I have been reading the Source Safe Help files on how to do this and although I think I am following the instructions, I end up with an empty folder. Can someone enumerate the steps required to do this? Do you start by creating a new project under the Source Safe root so you have something to Share the original project with? • Looking for an automated logging tool/library for .NET!

  Hello, I'm looking for an library/tool for .NET that logs almost everything that happens in my C# application (Windows Form). The problem is that I'm delivering an application to a client (Windows XP) and after doing some task, that classic Microsoft error window appears: "ApplicationName has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" I'm currently handling my application exceptions, but this is something external and I can't get anything from that error, so I would like any automated library that helps me with that. It would work if it logs each line of code executed, orr just log what line was executing before that error appeared, or something that could give me more info about that error. Thank you! P.S: It's a multithreaded application, and have to Timer controls (one for watching a folder every 5secs, and another for watching thread list...). I'm using Windows 7 here and everything seems to work ok.

• Need advice on organizing two WPF applications within one Visual Studio solution

  I have a WPF application (KaleidoscopeApplication) organized as follows: Solution (6 projects) Cryptography (DLL) Rfid (DLL) KaleidoscopeApplication (buildable "startup project") Basically, KaleidoscopeApplication contains a bunch of resources (sounds, images, etc) and your standard WPF junk (App.xaml, App.xaml.cs, other xaml and code). I need to create a new application that is very similar to Kaleidoscope, but I'm not sure of the best way to organize. This new app will need access to much of the same code and resources as Kaleidoscope. Preferably, I would like to create a new project in the solution, then simply use the "set as startup project" to pick which app I want to build. However, will I be able to access (share) the Resources folder of Kaleidoscope? I know I will be able to access much of the code if I simply add a reference to the project and include a "using Kaleidoscope". But the resources I'm not so sure about. Is this the right way to organize or am I asking for trouble in the future? Thanks in advance!

I think I am missing some step. things done: 1. added reference to the EF class project 2. added connection string in MVC web.config 3. added reference to System.Data.Entity in both web.config and project references Now i can use the model only if I copy the .edmx file to the Models folder, but in this way the EF project is not external anymore. It may be just a problem with Visual Studio installation/configuration, but as another problem, classes placed in App_Code in not seen in page codes. Even when I'm adding new ASP.NET folder to my project, "App_Code" is not available as an option. I tested the entire scenario with ASP.NET Web Project and Empty ASP.NET Web Project.   I have a table which has approximately sixty tables, and other tables are added constantly. Each table is a part of a schema. A such quantity of tables makes it difficult to use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008. For example, I must scroll up in object explorer to access database related functions, or scroll down each time I need to access Views or Security features. Is it possible to group several tables to be able to expand or collapse them in Object Explorer? Maybe a folder may be displayed for each schema, letting collapse the folders I don't need to use?

• Replacing xcode with macports software

  I have been trying to replace everything in xcode with stuff I can get from macports. So far, I installed xcode, then macports, then used macports to install gcc, gcc_select, gmake, elf-bintools, bintools, arm-bintools (just to be sure I replaced all the bintools), and then uninstalled all of xcode. I then linked /usr/bin/make with /opt/local/bin/gmake and used gcc_select to select gcc44--the one from macports. I also exported all the bintool executable paths into the .profile path. I was sure this would work (although I should have known better after working on it for 48 hours straight), but nothing will configure, and the log files all have the common error: :info:configure configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables I have a feeling it has something to do with libraries, but I am really not sure. I use a mac 10.5.8. If this is truely 'impossible', what parts of xcode to I need for macports to work? For example, I can uninstall the xcode folder without a problem.

  Hello, I already saw the answers for a question almost identical to this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/443169/eclipse-exclude-folders-from-search. However I am looking for a resolution that would allow me to say look at 10 of my 200 folders and those 10 change all the time. Is there a way I can search through just 1 folder and avoid any other folders that are not inside it? I don't want to create a different project as I am using SVN and I have had cases with mxml files and other files that adding a file that we moved from one project to another caused problems for other developers.

  I have several projects in an EAR in Eclipse. These projects themselves have dependency jar's on the build path marked as "do not export, do not contribute to others". Now in Eclipse I add jar's to the EAR via the EAR properties "Java EE Module Dependencies". I browse to the jar (add jar) and click ok. The jar is added to the list. When I click apply, the added jar is gone from the list, it cannot be found in other properties, it is contained in the hidden folder .settings in the file org.eclipse.wst.common.component. This behaviour does not make much sense to me, what am I missing?

  Hi guys heres the scene - I'm building a web application which basically creates accounts for all users. Currently its setup like this the file structure: root/index.php root/someotherfile.php root/images/image-sub-folder/image.jpg root/js/somejs.js When users create an account they choose a fixed group name and then users can join that group. Initially I thought of having an extra textbox in the login screen to enter the group the user belongs to login to. BUt I would like instead to have something like virtual folders in this case: root/group-name/index.php I heard it can be done with apache mod rewrite but I'm not sure how to do this - any help here? Basically instead of having something like &group-name=yourGroupName appended to every page I would just like something of the nature above.

I get the error when i'm trying to open a database in PocketPC emulator or from the program with connection's Open() method(C#)..Here it is: Description: Internal error: SQL Server Compact made an unsupported request to the host operating system. Can someone explain what can cause this error to appear. The database and application are on Storage Card(shared folder from PC, on which Everyone has read/write permissions)Thank you. • Global Ignores for SVN?

  Is there a way to setup a global list of Ignores for a SVN Repository or for the SVN Client on the PC? The only reason I'm using tools like Tortoise/Ankh/VisualSVN is because I want to only check in the files I need without all the bin/obj/Resharper stuff. I'm spoiled by .gitignore and .hgignore which I just copy to a repository and then use "git commit -a" without having to care about checking in junk. I know I can manually set it, but that's tedious to do and I think it had to be applied to every new folder that gets created as well. Using SVN under Windows if that matters

• File version maintainence via PHP FTP?

  Currently I'm working on a "plugin" that will be installed on many different sites and I was wondering on the best way for me to maintain the file version of this "plugin". Here's what I was thinking. Have a "master copy" of the plugin on a server, then connect via FTP to the target sites and upload the copy to their site overwriting whatever files they may have. I was wondering the best way to go about this. The "plugin" will have many different folders and files so transferring one file at a time will be too tedious. Is there a way to copy an entire folder over at a time? Or even better, is there a way to recurse through the folders and checking for file difference before uploading the new file? This is to make sure we are uploading a new file and not just the same one.

  Hi, I have a custom Control which contains the generic.xaml inside the Themes folder. I have set the build action to Resource. Now from App.xaml I am setting the reference to the DLL by using : xmlns:localFolder="clr-namespace:customControl;assembly=customControl" After the reference is set I am trying to Merge the Resource dictionary in my App.xaml as follow: <Application.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="localFolder;component/Themes/generic.xaml"/> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </Application.Resources> But while running my application I am getting the following XAMLParseException: Attribute localFolder;component/Themes/generic.xaml value is out of range.   I have a project that generates text (representing an interface and a class) based on metadata. I would like to take this generated code and insert it as a new class and interface directly into the currently opened solution under a specific project and directory. I will create the menu tool that will generate the class but what I don't know how to do is gain access to the following items from within my custom Visual Studio Extension: Iterate the current solution and find a project to dump the generated code into. Open a new file window within Visual Studio and inject the generated text that comes from my tool directly into that window. Create a new folder in a specific project within the current solution from within my custom extension. EDIT - To clarify I need to open a new file (e.g. Right Click on a Project - Add - New Class) and insert text into it from within my custom Visual Studio Extension. Thanks
