  • Why is IoC / DI not common in Python?

    - by tux21b
    In Java IoC / DI is a very common practice which is extensively used in web applications, nearly all available frameworks and Java EE. On the other hand, there are also lots of big Python web applications, but beside of Zope (which I've heard should be really horrible to code) IoC doesn't seem to be very common in the Python world. (Please name some examples if you think that I'm wrong). There are of course several clones of popular Java IoC frameworks available for Python, springpython for example. But none of them seems to get used practically. At least, I've never stumpled upon a Django or sqlalchemy+<insert your favorite wsgi toolkit here> based web application which uses something like that. In my opinion IoC has reasonable advantages and would make it easy to replace the django-default-user-model for example, but extensive usage of interface classes and IoC in Python looks a bit odd and not »pythonic«. But maybe someone has a better explanation, why IoC isn't widely used in Python.

  • How to use @FileUpload.GetHtml inside Html.BeginForm and sumbit FilesList

    - by Diode
    There is a default submit button for the @FileUpload.GetHtml. But I am expecting to have a submit button inside the Html begin form and use that substitution to submit the list of files with some more parameters. But when I do that the passing IEnumerable is always null in the Action method. This is my Action method: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Change(IEnumerable filesList, Guid ID, string Btn) {.... @using (Html.BeginForm("Change", "Home",FormMethod.Post)) { <textarea id="textArea" name="epost2" class="frm_txtfield_big" style="float:left; width:638px; height:200px;"></textarea> <input type="hidden" name="supportID" value="@Model.ID" /> @FileUpload.GetHtml(name: "ChooseFile",initialNumberOfFiles: 1,allowMoreFilesToBeAdded: true,includeFormTag: false) .......} But this is not passing the list of files to the method. Am doing it wrong or what is the wrong with the code.

  • MVVM/ViewModels and handling Authorization

    - by vdh_ant
    Hey guys Just wondering how how people handle Authorization when using MVVM and/or View Models. If I wasn't using VM's I would be passing back the Model and it would have a property which I could check if a user can edit a given object/property but when using MVVM I am disconnecting myself from the business object... and thus doen't know what the security should be any more. Is this a case where the mapper should be aware of the Authorization that is in place and don't copy across the data if the Authorization check fails. If this was the case I am guessing that the mapper would have to see some properties on the VM to let the interface know which fields are missing data because of the Authorization failure. If this does occur within the mapper, how does this fit in with things like AutoMapper, etc. Cheers Anthony

  • Session bug using facebook-connect-with-authlogic in Rails

    - by Jesse
    I'm trying to follow this article: http://ryanbigg.com/2010/03/testing-facebook, but I'm stuck. I think the problem is with my session, in that the current_usermethod comes up with nil for session[:facebook_session]. According to the original authlogic, it says to use the active_record_store for sessions: # config/environment.rb config.action_controller.session_store = :active_record_store # db/schema includes create_table "sessions", :force => true do |t| t.string "session_id", :null => false t.text "data" t.datetime "created_at" t.datetime "updated_at" end The article calls for the use of cookies. I'm confused; can I use cookies and the active record sessions? I'm also confused by the use of cattr_accessor :current_user from within the User model -- current_user still goes in the application controller, right? Please help.

  • How to render plain HTML links in Asp.Net MVC loop?

    - by Joannes Vermorel
    I would like to render a list of HTML links in ASP.NET MVC. Note that the links are absolute and external to the website being designed. The following code works: <% foreach (var item in Model) { %> <tr> <td> <%= Html.Encode(item.Id) %> </td> <td> <%= String.Format("<a href=\"{0}\">link</a>", item.Url) %> </td> </tr> <% } %> But I am wondering if it's really the right approach. Am I missing some obvious MVC control here?

  • Programming pattern to flatten deeply nested ajax callbacks?

    - by chiborg
    I've inherited JavaScript code where the success callback of an Ajax handler initiates another Ajax call where the success callback may or may not initiate another Ajax call. This leads to deeply nested anonymous functions. Maybe there is a clever programming pattern that avoids the deep-nesting and is more DRY. jQuery.extend(Application.Model.prototype, { process: function() { jQuery.ajax({ url:myurl1, dataType:'json', success:function(data) { // process data, then send it back jQuery.ajax({ url:myurl2, dataType:'json', success:function(data) { if(!data.ok) { jQuery.ajax({ url:myurl2, dataType:'json', success:mycallback }); } else { mycallback(data); } } }); } }); } });

  • Core Data performance deleteObject and save managed object context

    - by Gary
    I am trying to figure out the best way to bulk delete objects inside of my Core Data database. I have some objects with a parent/child relationship. At times I need to "refresh" the parent object by clearing out all of the existing children objects and adding new ones to Core Data. The 'delete all' portion of this operation is where I am running into trouble. I accomplish this by looping through the children and calling deleteObject for each one. I have noticed that after the NSManagedObjectContext:Save call following all of the deleteObject calls is very slow when I am deleting 15,000 objects. How can I speed up this call? Are there things happening during the save operation that I can be aware of and avoid by setting parameters different or setting up my model another way? I've noticed that memory spikes during this operation as well. I really just want to "delete * from". Thanks.

  • Can I disable DataAnnotations validation on DefaultModelBinder?

    - by Max Toro
    I want DefaultModelBinder not to perform any validation based on DataAnnotations metadata. I'm already using DataAnnotations with DynamicData for the admin area of my site, and I need a different set of validation rules for the MVC based front-end. I'm decorating my classes with the MetadataType attribute. If I could have different MetadataType classes for the same model but used on different scenarios that would be great. If not I'm fine with just disabling the validation on the DefaultModelBinder, either by setting some property or by creating a specialized version of it.

  • Rotating a full 360 degrees in WPF 3D

    - by sklitzz
    Hi, I have a ModelVisual3D of a cube and I want to animate it to rotate around its axis for 360 degrees. I make a RoationTransform3D which I tell to rotate 360 but it doesn't rotate at all, also if you say 270 degrees it rotates only 90 degrees but in the opposite direction. I guess he computer calculates the "shortest path" of the rotation. The best solution I have come up with is to make one animation turn 180 and after it finishes call another 180 to complete the full rotation. Is there a way to do it in one animation? RotateTransform3D rotateTransform = new RotateTransform3D(); myCube.Model.Transform = rotateTransform; AxisAngleRotation3D rotateAxis = new AxisAngleRotation3D(new Vector3D(0, 1, 0), 180/*or 360*/); Rotation3DAnimation rotateAnimation = new Rotation3DAnimation(rotateAxis, TimeSpan.FromSeconds(2)); rotateTransform.BeginAnimation(RotateTransform3D.RotationProperty, rotateAnimation);

  • Objects with permissions assigned by django-guardian not visible in admin

    - by jul
    I'm using django-guardian in order to manage per object permission. For a given user I give permission all permission on one object: joe = User.objects.get(username="joe") mytask = Task.objects.get(pk=1) assign('add_task', joe, mytask) assign('change_task', joe, mytask) assign('delete_task', joe, mytask) and I get, as expected: In [57]: joe.has_perm("add_task", mytask) Out[57]: True In [58]: joe.has_perm("change_task", mytask) Out[58]: True In [59]: joe.has_perm("delete_task", mytask) Out[59]: True In admin.py I also make TaskAdmin inherit from GuardedModelAdmin instead of admin.ModelAdmin Now when I connect to my site with joe, on the admin I get: You don't have permission to edit anything Am I not supposed to be able to edit the object mytask? Do I have to set some permissions using the built-in model-based permission system? Am I missing anything? Thank you

  • Customizing Rails XML rendering to include extra properties

    - by Isaac Cambron
    Let's say I have a model like this: create_table :ninjas do |t| t.string name end And the Ninja class with an extra property: class Ninja < ActiveRecord::Base def honorific "#{name}san" end end And in my controller I just want to render it to XML: def show render :xml => Ninja.find(params[:id]) end The honorific part isn't rendered. That makes sense, since it's just a method, but is there a way of tricking it? I'm totally up for answers to the effect of, "You're doing this totally wrong." I'll just add that I really do want to calculate the honorific on the fly, and not, like, store it in the database or something.

  • MySql timeouts - Should I set autoReconnect=true in Spring application?

    - by George
    After periods of inactivity on my website (Using Spring 2.5 and MySql), I get the following error: org.springframework.dao.RecoverableDataAccessException: The last packet sent successfully to the server was 52,847,830 milliseconds ago. is longer than the server configured value of 'wait_timeout'. You should consider either expiring and/or testing connection validity before use in your application, increasing the server configured values for client timeouts, or using the Connector/J connection property 'autoReconnect=true' to avoid this problem. According to this question, and the linked bug, I shouldn't just set autoReconnect=true. Does this mean I have to catch this exception on any queries I do and then retry the transaction? Should that logic be in the data access layer, or the model layer? Is there an easy way to handle this instead of wrapping every single query to catch this?

  • WPF listbox : problem with selection

    - by KiTe
    Hello. In my XAML file, I have a ListBox declared like this : <ListBox x:Name="lstDeck" Height="280" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Deck}" > <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ListBoxItem Content="{Binding}" /> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> In my view model, Deck is an ObservableCollection, so that binding directly displays the content of my collection. But when I have several value that hold the same value (for example "10" six times), the selection in the ListBox has a weird behaviour : it select 2-3 elements instead of the only the one on which I clicked. Moreover, when I click to another listBoxItem, it doesn't unfocus the previous selected one. Then it is impossible to see which item is actually selected, and impossible to get the SelectedIndex value. Has someone an idea?

  • Error when trying to create a faceted plot in ggplot2

    - by John Horton
    I am trying to make a faceted plot in ggplot2 of the coefficients on the regressors from two linear models with the same predictors. The data frame I constructed is this: r.together> reg coef se y 1 (Intercept) 5.068608671 0.6990873 Labels 2 goodTRUE 0.310575129 0.5228815 Labels 3 indiaTRUE -1.196868662 0.5192330 Labels 4 moneyTRUE -0.586451273 0.6011257 Labels 5 maleTRUE -0.157618168 0.5332040 Labels 6 (Intercept) 4.225580743 0.6010509 Bonus 7 goodTRUE 1.272760149 0.4524954 Bonus 8 indiaTRUE -0.829588862 0.4492838 Bonus 9 moneyTRUE -0.003571476 0.5175601 Bonus 10 maleTRUE 0.977011737 0.4602726 Bonus The "y" column is a label for the model, reg are the regressors and coef and se are what you would think. I want to plot: g <- qplot(reg, coef, facets=.~y, data = r.together) + coord_flip() But when I try to display the plot, I get: > print(g) Error in names(df) <- output : 'names' attribute [2] must be the same length as the vector [1] What's strange is that qplot(reg, coef, colour=y, data = r.together) + coord_flip() plots as you would expect.

  • Show choosen option in a notification Feed, Django

    - by apoo
    Hey I have a model where : LIST_OPTIONS = ( ('cheap','cheap'), ('expensive','expensive'), ('normal', 'normal'), ) then I have assigned the LIST_OPTIONS to nature variable. nature = models.CharField(max_length=15, choices=LIST_OPTIONS, null=False, blank=False). then I save it: if self.pk: new=False else: new=True super(Listing, self).save(force_insert, force_update) if new and notification: notification.send(User.objects.all().exclude(id=self.owner.id), "listing_new", {'listing':self, }, ) then in my management.py: def create_notice_types(app, created_models,verbosity, **kwargs): notification.create_notice_type("listing_new", _("New Listing"), _("someone has posted a new listing"), default=2) and now in my notice.html I want to show to users different sentences based on the options that they have choose so something like this: LINK href="{{ listing.owner.get_absolute_url }} {{listing.owner}} {% ifequal listing.nature "For Sale" %} created a {{ listing.nature }} listing, <a href="{{ listing.get_absolute_url }}">{{listing.title}}</a>. {% ifequals listing.equal "Give Away"%} is {{ listing.nature }} , LINK href="{{ listing.get_absolute_url }}" {{listing.title}}. {% ifequal listing.equal "Looking For"%} is {{ listing.nature }} , LINK href="{{ listing.get_absolute_url }}" {{listing.title}} {% endifequal %} {% endifequal %} {% endifequal %} Could you please help me out with this. Thank you

  • naive bayesian spam filter question

    - by Microkernel
    Hi guys, I am planning to implement spam filter using Naive Bayesian classification model. Online I see a lot of info on Naive Bayesian classification, but the problem is its a lot of mathematical stuff, than clearly stating how its done. And the problem is I am more of a programmer than a mathematician (yes I had learnt Probability and Bayesian theorem back in school, but out of touch for a long long time, and I don't have luxury of learning it now (Have nearly 3 weeks to come-up with a working prototype)). So if someone can explain or point me to location where its explained for programmers than a mathematician, it would be a great help. PS: By the way I have to implement it in C, if you want to know. :( Regards, Microkernel

  • What is the structure of a (Data Access) Service Class

    - by jiewmeng
    I learnt that I should be using service classes to persist entities into the database instead of putting such logic in models/controllers. I currently made my service class something like class Application_DAO_User { protected $user; public function __construct(User $user) { $this->user = $user } public function edit($name, ...) { $this->user->name = $name; ... $this->em->flush(); } } I wonder if this should be the structure of a service class? where a service object represents a entity/model? Or maybe I should pass a User object everytime I want to do a edit like public static function edit($user, $name) { $user->name = $name; $this->em->flush(); } I am using Doctrine 2 & Zend Framework, but it shouldn't matter

  • Silverlight using WCF Ria with POCOS gives edit operation error

    - by JD
    Hi, I have converted an Entity framework project to use POCO objects by removing the entity data model and the domain service and meta data classes. My silverlight project works as it is showing a datagrid of Employee objects. I have not added a DataForm and when I modify the "name" property of one of my Employee objects, I get the error: This EntitySet of type 'TestEmployeesApp.Web.Employee' does not support the 'Edit' operation. The error occurs on validatingProperty() on the class Entity on the client side. I checked the metadata on the server side, and all my properties have the attribute Editable(true). I am using Silverlight 3 with VS2008. JD

  • Proper way of deleting records with Codeigniter

    - by luckytaxi
    I came across another Stackoverflow post regarding Get vs Post and it made me think. With CI, my URL for deleting a record is http://domain.com/item/delete/100, which deletes record id 100 from my DB. The record_id is pulled via $this->uri->segment. In my model I do have a where clause that checks that the user is indeed the owner of that record. A user_id is stored in a session inside the DB. Is that good enough? My understanding is, POST should be used for one time modification for data and GET is for retrieving regards (e.g. viewing an item or permalink).

I tried using Windows Auth and also tried SQL Server Auth with no luck. Can someone please assist me? What am I missing?
