Regex: Use start of line/end of line signs (^ or $) in different context

While doing some small regex task I came upon this problem. I have a string that is a list of tags that looks e.g like this: foo,bar,qux,garp,wobble,thud What I needed to do was to check if a certain tag, e.g. 'garp' was in this list. (What it finally matches is not really important, just if there is a match or not.) My first and a bit stupid try at this was to use the following regex: [^,]garp[,$] My idea was that before 'garp' there should either be the start of the line/string or a comma, after 'garp' there should be either a comma or the end of the line/string. Now, it is instantly obvious that this regex is wrong: Both ^ and $ change their behaviour in the context of the character class [ ]. What I finally came up with is the following: ^garp$|^garp,|,garp,|,garp$ This regex just handles the 4 cases one by one. (Tag at beginning of list, in the center, at the end, or as the only element of the list.) The last regex is somehow a bit ugly in my eyes and just for funs sake I'd like to make it a bit more elegant. Is there a way how the start of line/end of line characters (^ and $) can be used in the context of character classes?

Authenticated WCF: Getting the Current Security Context

I have the following scenario: I have various user's data stored in my database. This data was entered via a web app. We'd like to expose this data back to the user over a web service so that they can integrate their data with their applications. We would also like to expose some business logic over these services. As such we do not want to use OData. This is a multi-tenant application so I only want to expose their data back to them and not other users. Likewise, the business logic we expose should be relative to the authenticated user. I would like let the user use an OASIS scheme to authenticate with the web service -- WCF already allows for this out of the box as far as I understand -- or perhaps we can issue them certificates to authenticate with. That bit hasn't really been worked out yet. Here is a bit of pseudo-code of how I envision this would work within the service: function GetUsersData(id) var user := Lookup User based on Username from Auth Context var data := Get Data From Repository based on "user" return data end function For the business logic scenario I think it would look something like this: function PerformBusinessLogic(someData) var user := Lookup User based on Username from Auth Context var returnValue := Perform some logic based on supplied data return returnValue end function The hard bit here is getting the current username (or cert info in the cert scenario) that the user authenticated with! Does WCF even enable this scenario? If not would WSE3 enable this? Thanks,

I am using XML file for creating Context Menu for my ListView. (Please see below). I also want to set a header for this Context Menu. I read (at http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg43062.html)that I can use menu.setHeaderTitle(myContextMenuTitle) in onCreateContextMenu Method. But I need to set this in XML file. Picture on the above demonstrates one of my possible composite item. If you look on the code above you will see that I print "Test" when context menu event occurs. When I right click on the line symbol I see that "Test" message is printed. But when I right click on the signal symbol "Test" is not printed and I want it to be printed. My second question what cause this behaviour. How do I overcome this.

Remove application entry from switch-app menu

What am I trying to achieve? I am writing a windows-form based application in C# .NET 2.0. The application should behave like this: No form should be visible; just a system tray icon is the entire application. So, I have to hide the form during startup and make a NotifyIcon available in the system tray with a ContextMenuStrip attached to it. What have I done so far? I have created a Windows application with the default form's properties WindowState-Minimized and ShowInTaskbar-false. Added a NotifyIcon and attached a ContextMenuStrip to it. What's happening? The application starts as a system tray icon and the form is hidden. So far so good. But when I am working with other applications and when I switch between other application using the Alt-Tab combination in Windows, the application icon appears in the switch-application menu; and when I select my application, the form appears. What's expected? The application should not be available in the switch-application menu; because, the form is empty and there is no functionality attached to it. All that is needed is the system-tray icon. How to hide the application entry from the switch-application menu? Thanks.

Is context:annotation-config an alternative to @AutoWired?

Is it correct that I can put context:annotation-config in my XML config and it will automatically inject the bean class without needing any annotations? Hi, I have created a list view that displays the names and dates of items stored in a SQLite database, now I want to use a Context Menu to modify these items stored in the database such as edit the name, delete, and view. Pass scalar/list context to called subroutine

I'm trying to write a sub that takes a coderef parameter. My sub does some initialization, calls the coderef, then does some cleanup. I need to call the coderef using the same context (scalar, list, void context) that my sub was called in. The only way I can think of is something like this: sub perform { my ($self, $code) = @_; # do some initialization... my @ret; my $ret; if (not defined wantarray) { $code->(); } elsif (wantarray) { @ret = $code->(); } else { $ret = $code->(); } # do some cleanup... if (not defined wantarray) { return; } elsif (wantarray) { return @ret; } else { return $ret; } } Obviously there's a good deal of redundancy in this code. Is there any way to reduce or eliminate any of this redundancy? EDIT I later realized that I need to run $code->() in an eval block so that the cleanup runs even if the code dies. Adding eval support, and combining the suggestions of user502515 and cjm, here's what I've come up with. sub perform { my ($self, $code) = @_; # do some initialization... my $w = wantarray; return sub { my $error = $@; # do some cleanup... die $error if $error; # propagate exception return $w ? @_ : $_[0]; }->(eval { $w ? $code->() : scalar($code->()) }); } This gets rid of the redundancy, though unfortunately now the control flow is a little harder to follow.

Can an ASP.NET user control determine its context or its parent .aspx file

Is it possible for a user control to determine its "context" or its parent .aspx page in some way? Right now I have a user control that is declared on a typical .aspx page as follows: <%@ Register TagPrefix="uc1" TagName="ManageTitle" Src="../UserControls/ManageTitle.ascx" %> The user control currently emits a textbox as follows: <asp:textbox id="txtTitle" runat="server" MaxLength="60" ToolTip="Describe the item with a short pithy title - most important keywords first"/> The page_load for this .ascx file is currently like this: Me.txtTitle.Text = SetPageTitle() While some places in this web app need this (i.e. a textbox where end-user can type a "title"), I have other places where I want to show the "title" information in a "read-only" way. For example, rather than a textbox, I could use a label control or a textbox with Enabled="false" to prevent data entry. I suppose I could clone this small .ascx file and append a suffix to its name like _RO.ascx or something but I am wondering what the best approach would be. In short, can a user control get some sort of "context" from the page that declares it or is there an altogether better way to accomplish this sort of thing? Thank you.

Dynamically disable custom (VBA) Excel context menu buttons?

The Scenario Hi guys, I am about to add a few custom controls to the cell context menu in my Excel workbook using the instructions found on this MSDN page. The only problem I am having is that I need the items to only be enabled for a specific column/range of cells. I've looked around, and I've been unable to find any steps for this--there are some for VSTO development (written in C#), but that is not what I need. I plan to write this using the VBA IDE built into Office, and perhaps a bit of XML using the Custom UI Editor. The Question So basically, I'm looking for a way to run a function at the time the context menu is called (i.e., upon right-click) that validates the selection to make sure it is in the appropriate column. If it isn't, I would like my custom buttons to be greyed out. P.S. Please don't think I am asking you to write my code. Creating these buttons should be very simple, as I have created many before (albeit they were all Ribbon items), and I hope it is okay to ask for some quick assistance on this very specific issue. T4MVC Optional Parameter Inferred From Current Context

I have read the other post about this at T4MVC OptionalParameter values implied from current context and I am using the latest T4MVC (2.11.1) which is suppose to have the fix in. I even checked checked to make sure that it's there -- and it is. I am still getting the optional parameters filled in based on the current context. For example: Let's say I have a list that is by default ordered by a person's last name. I have the option to order by first name instead with the URL http://localhost/list/stuff?orderby=firstname When I am in that page, I want to go back to order by first name with the code: @Html.ActionLink("order by last name", MVC.List.Stuff(null)) the link I wanted was simply http://localhost/list/stuff without any parameters to keep the URL simple and short - invoking default behaviors within the action. But instead the orderby is kept and the url is still http://localhost/list/stuff?orderby=firstname Any help would be great. I know that in the most general cases, this does remove the query parameter - maybe I do have a specific case where it was not removed. I find that it only happens when I have the URL inside a page that I included with RenderPartial. My actual code is <li>@Html.ActionLink("Recently Updated", MVC.Network.Ticket.List(Model.UI.AccountId, "LastModifiedDate", null, null, null, null, null))</li> <li>@Html.ActionLink("Recently Created", MVC.Network.Ticket.List(Model.UI.AccountId, "CreatedDate", null, null, null, null, null))</li> <li>@Html.ActionLink("Most Severe", MVC.Network.Ticket.List(Model.UI.AccountId, "MostSevere", null, null, null, null, null))</li> <li>@Html.ActionLink("Previously Closed", MVC.Network.Ticket.List(Model.UI.AccountId, "LastModifiedDate", null, "Closed", null, null, null))</li> the problem happens when someone clicks Previously Closed and and go to ?status=closed. When they click Recently Updated, which I want to the ?status so that it shows the active ones, the ?status=closed stays. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Application that will identify percentage of your system disk bandwidth used on a user-application by user-application basis?

I always (subjectively) feel my computer is far too slow (however fast it is), and so I'm always looking for ways to measure and understand what my computer is actually doing, that is making it seem "slow" to me. It has been my observation that my software-developer workload is most often disk-bound (I am waiting for Disk I/O) more than CPU bound. What has made it worse, is that I am using a corporate PC that has in-memory active-scanning anti-virus software that I do not have control over, and also some IT department mandated services that seem to suck up a lot of available hard-disk bandwidth. The best tool I have seen (in Windows 7) is the Resource Monitor which I usually acess from the button in the task Manager. The disk IO page, however, seems to label Disk Activity at a very low level (for example, showing the Volume Shadow Storage, which is flushing information obviously written by something ELSE other than VSS itself, and then writes to Pagefile.sys, which are obviously due to Virtual Memory faults in some application). What I would like to know is if a utility exists that can add up all direct disk input and output by user-level process, or find the process or service that caused VM or VSS activity. In that way, I hope, you could establish a real idea of how much of your computer's precious disk subsystem bandwidth is attributable to a particular application. here's a scenario: MyApp.exe writes 100k/s and reads 100k/s directly. VSS ends up writing another 100k/s. pagefaults caused inside MyApp.exe cause another 100k/s of writes. So the total "cost" of MyApp.exe running, during a period of time (let's say 1 second) is 400k/s, whereas you can only directly observe half of that, in Resource Monitor. Is there a smarter disk-IO watching piece of software I can use?

error initializing multiple configuration files

Hi, during initialization startup on tomcat, the configurations are: 1) a webapp/WEB-INF/web.xml that imports yummy-servlet.xml in contextConfigLocation (although i'm aware that is not required since the servlet-name is yummy it will try to load yummy-servlet.xml by default) 2) a webapp/WEB-INF/yummy-servlet.xml that imports a spring/applicationContext-hibernate.xml file 3) a webapp/WEB-INF/spring/applicationContext-hibernate.xml that imports a applicationContext-dataSource.xml file 4) a webapp/WEB-INF/spring/applicationContext-dataSource.xml i'm getting errors about Failed to import bean definitions from relative location, but the stack trace is not very explicit about exactly what is the problem, i've been looking at these since yesterday and i really don't see How to temporarily stop web pages intercepting a right-click?

Some websites like Google Drive intercept right-clicks and provide their own context menu. This is usually what I want, but sometimes I still want to do a normal, native browser right-click. Is there any modifier key or something like that to make it so a right-click doesn't trigger a click event on the web page, so it can't show it's context menu? I want to do this per-click, not by changing a setting somewhere. If there are different techniques depending on browser/OS, please list them.

Software to manage "application profiles", which services are running, etc., on Windows?

I am looking for a particular type of program. I use my computers in various "modes", like gaming, programming, just plain surfing, etc. What I'd like to find is a program that can help me manage these modes. For instance, while programming I might use SQL Server, but while gaming I don't want those services running, but perhaps I'd like Steam to run instead. Basically, the program type I'm looking for is a visual program that allow me to quickly switch modes, and when I do, the program would start and stop the necessary services and applications in order to leave one mode and enter another. I've looked at the programs related to startup management, and I haven't found one that lets me do what I want. At the moment I have batch files, but they're not very good at conveying problems or other things, I'd like a more visual program.

Persisting right click menu highlight

I used to have this problem sometimes in Vista, but now I'm using Windows 7 (it was a clean install, reformatted hard drive) I'm disappointed that it's happening again. Basically what happens is sometimes when I right click on something and click an entry in the context menu, the highlight from entry remains on the screen, in front of everything else. I can get rid of it by changing my theme to Aero Basic and back again, but it's not a nice solution as it takes too long and often once I get rid of it, it comes back. Here you can see an example of what's happening - the highlight is there from Chrome's context menu. Does anyone know how to fix this?

In my Mac OS X 10.5, it has set all my *.patch files to open with 'Notepad in Windows via Parallel'. I have tried to change it by click 'Open With..' select 'TextEdit' check the 'Always Open With' box But still when I get new *.patch file, it will set to open 'Nodepad in Windows' by default. Can you please tell me how can I change that for good?

Three finger swipe left/right - Task switcher shows up (a horizontal bar with app symbols). Two finger swipe - highlights an icon and shows app name. ?? - switches to highlighted app. Since the highlighting is independent of the mouse cursor, a click doesn't work here without moving the mouse cursor. But I don't want this (locate mouse cursor, move the extra mile..). Maybe Better Touch Tool allows to configure a click to act as SPACE or RETURN in the task switcher? But how did Apple intend to use this?

IIS 7 Application Pools using a different amount of memory on multiple servers behind a load balancer

We have 6 servers in a web farm behind an F5. There are approximately 25 AppPools on each of these servers. On servers 1 - 5 the apppools are consuming approx 500MB Private Bytes, and 5GB Virtual Bytes. On server 6 the apppools are consuming approx 800MB Private Bytes, and 8GB Virtual Bytes. I can not seem to figure out why we have this difference. The code is the exact same on each box. We replicate the apphost.config between the boxes, so the Appplication Configs are identical. The only difference seems to be that this box consumes more RAM, and in turn ends up using a lot more CPU. During Black Friday we observed the CPU on server 6 spiking to 100% and noticed that the % Memory Commit was also near 100%, while the rest of the farm was at closer to 50% utilization. Pulling the 6th server from the load balancer dropped CPU/Memory on the 6th server back to normal, and did not cause a noticeable strain on the other servers.

Strange WCF Error - IIS hosted - context being aborted

I have a WCF service that does some document conversions and returns the document to the caller. When developing locally on my local dev server, the service is hosted on ASP.NET Development server, a console application invokes the operation and executes within seconds. When I host the service in IIS via a .svc file, two of the documents work correctly, the third one bombs out, it begins to construct the word document using the OpenXml Sdk, but then just dies. I think this has something to do with IIS, but I cannot put my finger on it. There are a total of three types of documents I generate. In a nutshell this is how it works SQL 2005 DB/IBM DB2 - WCF Service written by other developer to expose data. This service only has one endpoint using basicHttpBinding My Service invokes his service, gets the relevant data, uses the Open Xml Sdk to generate a Microsoft Word Document, saves it on a server and returns the path to the user. The word documents are no bigger than 100KB. I am also using basicHttpBinding although I have tried wsHttpBinding with the same results. What is amazing is how fast it is locally, and even more that two of the documents generate just fine, its the third document type that refuses to work. To the error message: An error occured while receiving the HTTP Response to http://myservername.mydomain.inc/MyService/Service.Svc. This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP Protocol. This could also be due to an HTTP request context being aborted by the server (possibly due to the server shutting down). See server logs for more details. I have spent the last 2 days trying to figure out what is going on, I have tried everything, including changing the maxReceivedMessageSize, maxBufferSize, maxBufferPoolSize, etc etc to large values, I even included: <httpRuntime maxRequestLength="2097151" executionTimeout="120"/> To see maybe if IIS was choking because of that. Programatically the service does nothing special, it just constructs the word documents from the data using the Open Xml Sdk and like I said, locally all 3 documents work when invoked via a console app running locally on the asp.net dev server, i.e. http://localhost:3332/myService.svc When I host it on IIS and I try to get a Windows Forms application to invoke it, I get the error. I know you will ask for logs, so yes I have logging enabled on my Host. And there is no error in the logs, I am logging everything. Basically I invoke two service operations written by another developer. MyOperation calls - HisOperation1 and then HisOperation2, both of those calls give me complex types. I am going to look at his code tomorrow, because he is using LINQ2SQL and there may be some funny business going on there. He is using a variety of collections etc, but the fact that I can run the exact same document, lets call it "Document 3" within seconds when the service is being hosted locally on ASP WebDev Server is what is most odd, why would it run on scaled down Cassini and blow up on IIS? From the log it seems, after calling HisOperation1 and HisOperation2 the service just goes into la-la land dies, there is a application pool (w3wp.exe) error in the Windows Event Log. Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.1830, stamp 42435be1, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.2.3790.3311, stamp 49c5225e, debug? 0, fault address 0x00015dfa. It's classified as .NET 2.0 Runtime error. Any help is appreciated, the lack of sleep is getting to me. Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.

I have a WCF Web Service which is kept under an Application Pool on IIS. Lately I've been getting "Service Unavaiable" when I'm trying to make calls to this Web Service. The first thing I tried to do was restarting the Application Pool. I did it and after a couple of seconds, it crashed and stopped. Looking at the Event Viewer, I found these messages, which by the moment couldn't help me to find where the problem is. A process serving application pool 'X' reported a failure. The process id was '11616'. The data field contains the error number. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. After getting a couple of these, I got this one: Application pool 'X' is being automatically disabled due to a series of failures in the process(es) serving that application pool.
