    When reformatting, Windows XP ask me to choose from these formatting methods. (Implying that ALL of them are "formatting methods"... even #3) Reformat using NTFS (quick) Reformat using NTFS Leave the current file-system intact (no changes) What choice #3 really mean? Does it mean: A. Leave the current file-system (whatever file-system is already in use) and reformat to match that. (ie. If you current have NTFS, reformat to that again. If you currently have FAT32, reformat to that again. That is: Reformat without changing to a different file-system. Leave the current type.) or... B. Do absolutely nothing. Don't format. Don't delete any of my files. Abort the formatting process entirely.

  • Apache stops responding to http requests -- https continues to work

    Okay. Very strange problem that I'm having here. I just recently updated to Apache 2.4.2 from 2.2.17, mostly to try to get name-based SSL VirtualHosts working (although they should have been working on 2.2.17). Server is Win2008 R2 (so x64 by definition) running with PHP 5.4.3 and MySQL 5.1.40 (outdated, I know). When I launch the server, it initially works fine. Responds to all requests, VirtualHosts all in order. However, after an uncertain amount of time (appears to only take a few minutes for the most part, but sometimes takes hours), it stops responding to regular HTTP requests (on any VirtualHost). HTTPS continues to work. No errors in the log, and nothing in the access logs when I attempt to connect. I'm having a hard time finding the source of this error given its intermittent nature. When removing all SSL-based VirtualHosts, it seemingly increased stability (still responding to HTTP requests twelve hours later). This could be mere coincidence, though.   • apt-get commands pausing at 'Waiting for headers'

    I have a VM running Ubuntu Server 9.10 running a basic web server setup. Whenever I run an apt function it will pause for around 1 minute at 'Waiting for headers...'. It will eventually clear through and continue as normal but it is a bit of an annoyance. Everything else on the server seems to run fine. Any ideas?

  • Desktop directory disappears in gnome-terminal, then appears again, but all files in it are deleted

    I am able to see my Desktop and with all its various links and files. But in the terminal when I try to access the Desktop directory: cd ~/Desktop I get: bash: cd: /home/administrator/Desktop: No such file or directory Then I find I am unable to access any of the files on the Desktop when I click on them although the file icons are there. Then the icons disappear after my clicking on them. Then I am able to access the Desktop directory in the terminal but the directory is empty i.e. all the files/folders have been deleted. What's going on? How can I fix this?

  • Acer aspire one d270 can not set brightness

    I hope you can help me figure out how to set the brightness at my netbook. Following problem appears since I installed ubuntu 11.10 on my acer: I am not able to adjust the brightness by FN Keys nor manually at "systemsettings-display". After searching with google for a while, I found a way via the terminal to adjust it with the folloqing command: "sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 f4.b=7f" ( from 00-9f). That was a major breakthrough for me as I am still new to Linux OS. But still seeking a way to get the FN keys for brightness to work, I kept searching until I found "askubuntu.com". I read through various Questions by other acer users and tried there solutions, but unfortunately none worked out for me. From this thread: fn + arrow keys don't adjust actual brightness on an Acer Aspire 5740 "sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf". This command did not work because the file was not found. I also used nano instead of gedit, but the file was empty( I think it just created the file since it did not exist). These commands which i found gave me a boot loop and I had to repair ubuntu: sudo gedit /etc/default/grub Change the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="" into GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_osi=Linux" sudo update-grub From this post Screen Brightness not adjustable for Acer Aspire S3: I tried the solution from the last post, but it did not work either. Does anyone know what I could try? I would appreciate it, if someone could help me out with this.   • Touchpad not working after connecting hdmi cable

    I had installed Ubuntu 14.04 2 weeks back on my new laptop along side Windows 8. 1. And it was working fine. But yesterday after I connected Ubuntu with my TV using the HDMI cable, the cursor/ pointer stopped working. The pointer is not visible and my touchpad is not working. I connected the hdmi cable with youtube in Firefox. But only the wallpaper was visible on the TV. Also the right click menu, alt tab window, etc was also visible. But the side menu and the Firefox window was not visible. The pointer was visible on the tv and the touchpad was working, I was able to move the pointer. After I removed the HDMI cable, my cursor/pointer disappeared and my touchpad is not responding! ! I tried to restart many times, but still no luck. Its still not visible in the desktop. The pointer is visible in the login screen, but is not responding to the touchpad. I tried to login to my KDE session, there too the pointer is visible but is not responding to the touchpad. It is not moving.

    Hello, I've been trying to follow this tutorial for deploying a WCF sample to IIS . I can't get it to work. This is a hosted site, but I do have IIS Manager access to the server. However, in step 2 of the tutorial, I can't "create a new IIS application that is physically located in this application directory". I can't seem to find a menu item, context menu item, or what not to create a new application. I've been right-clicking everywhere like crazy and still can't figure out how to create a new app. I suppose that's probably the root issue, but I tried a few other things (described below) just in case that actually is not the issue. This is "deployed" at http://test.com.cws1.my-hosting-panel.com/IISHostedCalcService/Service.svc . The error says: The type 'Microsoft.ServiceModel.Samples.CalculatorService', provided as the Service attribute value in the ServiceHost directive, or provided in the configuration element system.serviceModel/serviceHostingEnvironment/serviceActivations could not be found. I also tried to create a virtual dir (IISHostedCalc) in dotnetpanel that points to IISHostedCalcService . When I navigate to http://test.com.cws1.my-hosting-panel.com/IISHostedCalc/Service.svc , then there is a different error: This collection already contains an address with scheme http. There can be at most one address per scheme in this collection.     I am adding a PagedList to my view and loosely following this Tutorial. I have installed the PagedList reference using Nuget, set up my controller as follows public ViewResult Index(int page = 1) { List<Part> model = this.db.Parts.ToList(); const int pageSize = 20; return View(model.ToPagedList(page, pageSize)); } And written my view with the following model at the top @model PagedList.IPagedList<RIS.Models.Part> When I run the page I get the following error Compiler Error Message: CS0246: The type or namespace name 'PagedList' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Source Error: Line 27: Line 28: Line 29: public class _Page_Areas_Parts_Views_Part_Index_cshtml : System.Web.Mvc.WebViewPage<PagedList.IPagedList<RIS.Models.Part>> { The PagedList dll is being properly loaded in my controller because when I take it out of my view everything works as expected. The CopyLocal property is set to 'True' and I have tried including the namespace in the Views\Web.Config in my specific Area. What else can I do to make the View see the Namespace?

I receive the following error that causes a force-close: org.apache.harmony.xml.ExpatParser$ParseException: At line 1, column 0: no element found at org.apache.harmony.xml.ExpatParser.parseFragment(ExpatParser.java:508) at org.apache.harmony.xml.ExpatParser.parseDocument(ExpatParser.java:467) at org.apache.harmony.xml.ExpatReader.parse(ExpatReader.java:329) at org.apache.harmony.xml.ExpatReader.parse(ExpatReader.java:286) After clicking the Force Close button, the Activity is recreated and the parsing completes without a hitch.     I'm using NSFetchedResultsController with a predicate to load a list of Documents in my application. I want to load all the Documents except the currently active one. I am using Rentzsch's MOGenerator to create a _Document class and then I put all my custom code in the Document subclass. _Document generates an objectID property with type DocumentID.     I have a requirement in which i upload excel sheets to sql server database. The business logic is executed and display as reports in php. It is working fine till yesterday. Today i tried to upload excel files. It is throwing an error message stating:- Translated version of it by me:- The OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "(null)" has not found "installable ISAM." . Return This is the original message in german:-- [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] OLE DB-Anbieter "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" für den Verbindungsserver "(null)" hat die Meldung "Installierbares ISAM nicht gefunden." zurückgeben.     I am trying out ASP.NET MVC Framework 2 with the Microsoft Entity Framework and when I try and save new records I get this error: Mapping and metadata information could not be found for EntityType 'WebUI.Controllers.PersonViewModel' My Entity Framework container stores records of type Person and my view is strongly typed with class PersonViewModel which derives from Person. Records would save properly until I tried to use the derived view model class. Can anyone explain why the metadata class doesnt work when I derive my view model?   • Installing MonoTouch - ibtool not found error

    I've had Xcode (3.2.1 - SnowLeopard, iphone 3.1.3) installed for a while, and I can run and build apps on it fine. I installed MonoTouch, as I want to leverage the 8+ years of .NET skills I have :) So I installed: Mono: MonoFramework-2.6.1_1.macos10.novell.x86 MonoTouch: monotouch-eval-1.5.0 MonoDevelop: MonoDevelop-2.2.1-r152508 (was 2.2.1, but when I started it up, it said there was an update, which I installed - thats the update version) If I make a new project and build it, I get any of the following errors: Build failed. Object reference not set to the instance of an object. Build failed: ibtool not found (btw, it's in /Developer/usr/bin/ibtool) or a similar one to the second one if I use the older (2.2.1 released) version of MonoTouch. I can't find any debug info anywhere. I could reinstall XCode/iPhone SDK, but as it already is installed and works (and no, this isn't a SL upgrade), it doesn't make sense. Anyone got any ideas? I SO want to use MonoTouch - Obj-C drives me up the wall! Console apps (mono ones) work fine. Mac OS X 10.6.2, Macbook Pro, clean install with old settings moved over.

  • Jar not found when executing class

    Hi there, I'm working through the ANTLR book and there are many examples that should be easy to compile using the command line. Some information to get te problem: antlr-3.2.jar contains the ANTLR classes. I added the antlr-3.2.jar to the CLASSPATH environment variable (Windows 7) and when compiling the classes with javac everything works fine. This is what i execute to compile my program: javac Test.java ExprLexer.java ExprParser.java Test.java contains my main()-method whereas ExprLexer and ExprParser are generated by ANTLR. All three classes use classes contained in the antlr-3.2.jar. But so far so good. As I just said, compiling works fine. It's when I try to execute the Test.class that I get trouble. This is what I type: java -cp ./ Test When executing this, the interpreter tells me that he can't find the ANTLR-classes contained in the antlr-3.2.jar, altough I added an entry in the CLASSPATH variable. E:\simone\Programmierung\Language Processing Tools\ANTLR\Book Samples and Exercises\Exercise\1\output\Test.java Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/antlr/runtime/Cha rStream Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.antlr.runtime.CharStream at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:202) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:190) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:307) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:248) Could not find the main class: Test. Program will exit. I'm using Windows 7 and Java 1.6_20. Can someone tell what is going on? Why will the interpreter not look in the jar-Archive I specified in the CLASSPATH? I found some kind of workaroud. I copied the antlr-3.2.jar into the directory where the Test.class is located and then executed: java -cp ./;antlr-3.2.jar Test This worked out. But I don't want to type the jar-Archive everytime I execute my test programs. Is there a possibility to tell the interpreter that he should automatically look into the archive?

    Hi, I am new to Spring webflow and now I am trying the example in Spring recipes book and I know this is a basic question.   • 'ErrorMessageResourceType' property specified was not found. on XmlSerialise

    In my ASP.Net MVC app I have a Model layer which uses localised validation annotations on business objects. The code looks like this: [XmlRoot("Item")] public class ItemBo : BusinessObjectBase { [Required(ErrorMessageResourceName = "RequiredField", ErrorMessageResourceType = typeof(StringResource))] [HelpPrompt("ItemNumber")] public long ItemNumber { get; set; } This works well. When I want to serialise the object to xml I get the error: "'ErrorMessageResourceType' property specified was not found" (although it is lost beneath other errors, it is the innerexception I am trying to work on. The problem therefore is the use of the DataAnnotations attributes. The relevant resource files are in another assembly and are marked as 'public' and as I said everything works well until I get to serialisation. I have references to the relevant DataAnnotations class etc in my nunit tests and target class. By the way, the HelpPrompt is another data annotation I have defined elsewhere and is not causing the problem. Furthermore if I change the Required attribute to the standard format as follows, the serialisation works ok. [Required(ErrorMessage="Error")] Can anyone help me?
