  • Emacs on Windows for C++ development configuration?

    - by rbnn
Has anyone set up cygwin and some emacs to work well under a 64-bit Windows 7? I tried downloading cygwin recently, and by default not even dired works reliably, there are odd shell prompt characters, I get a lot of warnings, in one case C-c was read as C-g and caused various errors. (Neither xemacs nor emacs worked for me, where by "work" I mean that dired and shell work, and without warnings). I just want the usual emacs development tools: gdb-mode, shell-mode, compiling, tag-search to work as normal. I was hoping someone who has done this recently with cygwin could share whatever relevant shell files, emacs files, environment variables, and so on to make this all work. Should all these things just work out of the box?

  • XAMPP mail not working with PHP mail() function.

    - by user296516
Hi gusy, I just installed XAMPP, Apache is running, so is MySQL and Mercury. In Dreamweaver I created a php file with a mail($to,$subject,$msg,'From:'.$email); function, but when I ran the file from localhost it showed an error. After playing around with xampp control panel, turning mercury on and off, it's not showing any errors, yet is not send the email either... any ideas? the 'admin' button on the cp for mercury does nothing. Thanks! R

  • Android Development - Conversion to Dalvik format failed with error 1

    - by KP65
So I'm dipping my toes into this area for the first time - i followed instructions to install the android SDK and eclipse plug in. I created a blank new android project and I get the following build errors: [2011-01-08 16:34:55 - xxx]: Dxno classfiles specified [2011-01-08 16:34:55 - xxx] Conversion to Dalvik format failed with error 1 I've googled the problem and tried to clean and rebuild, or hitting F5 on the project in the explorer but the issue remains. I've verified the build paths and the libraries to make sure only Android 2.3 is there but still get this issue. I have also tried to load a sample project and I get the same error. Any ideas?

  • Problem with dictionary key in Python

    - by Hossein
Hi all, For some project I have to make a dictionary in which the keys are urls, among which I have this url: http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll prd=windows&sbp=mediaplayer&ar=Media&sba=Guide&pver=6.2 the url is too long to fit in here I guess in one single line. there is a space between .dll and prd. I can build a dictionary without any errors this url is also a key. but for some reason when I want to extract the values associated to this key(url). I cannot, I get and error "error key:...." Does someone know what is wrong with this url? Are dictionary keys sensitive to some stuff? thanks

  • How do I get Cabal to bypass my Windows proxy settings?

    - by Brent.Longborough
When retrieving packages with Cabal, I frequently get errors with this message: user error (Codec.Compression.Zlib: premature end of compressed stream) It looks like Cabal is using my Windows Networking proxy settings (for Privoxy). From digging around Google, Cabal or its libraries appear to have (had) a problem in this area. Possible solutions I can see are: Turn off proxying while using Cabal (not very keen on this one); or Get a patch and start hacking. I'm hesitant to go down this path, as I'm a complete Haskell noob and I'm not yet comfortable with Darcs; or Give it the magic "can I haz no proxy" parameter. Hence the question.

  • how sort recursively by maximum fileze and counts files type?

    - by user599395
Hello! I'm beginner in bash programming. I want to display head -n $1 results of sorting files by size in /etc/*. The problem is that at final search, I must know how many directories and files has processed. I compose following code: #!/bash/bin let countF=0; let countD=0; for file in $(du -sk /etc/* |sort +0n | head $1); do if [ -f "file" ] then echo $file; let countF=countF+1; else if [ -d "file" ] then let countD=countD+1; fi done echo $countF echo $countD I have errors at execution. How use find with du, because I must search recursively?

  • How to simulate an error 500 in Symfony 1.4?

    - by Guillaume Flandre
I created an error500.php file in web/errors/ and would now like to test it. I tried to put this line in one of my actions: $this->getResponse()->setStatusCode(500); Unfortunately it looks like it's ignored. Do you guys have any idea of what's happening here? I'm using Symfony 1.4. Edit: Firebug is telling me that the error is actually fired but the page is still loading afterwards. And I'm in the prod env.

  • Code snippets in interview

    - by Maddy
Hi All, Recently I went to an interview for a C development position. Instead of asking me questions, they just gave me 20 code snippets to find out two logical errors on each one. I just couldn't complete all of the 20 since it took me time to go through each of these code snippets. My question is: Is this the right way to judge a candidate? If yes, how can I improve over my error detection skills so that I don't need to waste a lot of time in the next interview? If possible, please, suggest me some links where I could find lots of samples of such questions (mainly in C). Thanks and regards, Maddy

  • Where can I find a jQuery color animation plugin?

    - by George Edison
    I need an up-to-date jQuery color animation plugin that works in IE 8. I tried using the one at http://plugins.jquery.com/project/color but it causes errors like "Invalid property value." in the following line of code from color.js: fx.elem.style[attr] = "rgb(" + [ Math.max(Math.min( parseInt((fx.pos * (fx.end[0] - fx.start[0])) + fx.start[0]), 255), 0), Math.max(Math.min( parseInt((fx.pos * (fx.end[1] - fx.start[1])) + fx.start[1]), 255), 0), Math.max(Math.min( parseInt((fx.pos * (fx.end[2] - fx.start[2])) + fx.start[2]), 255), 0) ].join(",") + ")"; Where can I get something that works? By the way, I really hate IE, if that helps.

  • Strange error: cannot convert from 'int' to 'ios_base::openmode'

    - by Dylan Klomparens
I am using g++ to compile some code. I wrote the following snippet: bool WriteAccess = true; string Name = "my_file.txt"; ofstream File; ios_base::open_mode Mode = std::ios_base::in | std::ios_base::binary; if(WriteAccess) Mode |= std::ios_base::out | std::ios_base::trunc; File.open(Name.data(), Mode); And I receive these errors... any idea why? Error 1: invalid conversion from ‘int’ to ‘std::_Ios_Openmode’ Error 2: initializing argument 2 of ‘std::basic_filebuf<_CharT, _Traits* std::basic_filebuf<_CharT, _Traits::open(const char*, std::_Ios_Openmode) [with _CharT = char, _Traits = std::char_traits]’ As far as I could tell from a Google search, g++ is actually breaking the C++ standard here. Which I find quite astonishing, since they generally conform very strictly to the standard. Is this the case? Or am I doing something wrong. My reference for the standard: http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/iostream/ofstream/open/

  • iPhone: App crashes when I click on a cell in table view.

    - by Jack Griffiths
Hi there, Compiling my application works—everything is fine. The only errors I get are by deprecated functions (setText). The only problem is now, is that when I tap on a cell in my table, the app crashes, even though it's meant to push to the next view in the stack. Any solutions are appreciated, if you need any code, just ask. Also, how can I only make sure that one cell goes to only one view? For example: When I tap on CSS, it takes me to a new table with different levels of CSS. WHen I tap on an item in that new view, it comes up with an article on what I just selected. Regards, Jack

  • java - how to split string in to multiple parts?

    - by Ewen
I have a string that contains a value "firstword second third", and an ArrayList. I want to split the whole string in to by spaces and add the splitted strings in to the ArrayList. For example,"firstword second third" can be split to three separate strings and added three times in to the ArrayList. "1 2 3 4" can be splitted in to 4 strings and added 4 times in to the ArrayList. See the code below: public void separateAndAdd(String notseparated) { for(int i=0;i<canBeSepartedinto(notseparated);i++{ //what should i put here in order to split the string via spaces? thearray.add(separatedstring); } } public int canBeSeparatedinto(String string) //what do i put here to find out the amount of spaces inside the string? return .... } Please leave a comment if you dont get what I mean or I should fix some errors in this post. Thanks for your time!

  • golang dynamically parsing files

    - by Brian Voelker
    For parsing files i have setup a variable for template.ParseFiles and i currently have to manually set each file. Two things: How would i be able to walk through a main folder and a multitude of subfolders and automatically add them to ParseFiles so i dont have to manually add each file individually? How would i be able to call a file with the same name in a subfolder because currently I get an error at runtime if i add same name file in ParseFiles. var templates = template.Must(template.ParseFiles( "index.html", // main file "subfolder/index.html" // subfolder with same filename errors on runtime "includes/header.html", "includes/footer.html", )) func main() { // Walk and ParseFiles filepath.Walk("files", func(path string, info os.FileInfo, err error) { if !info.IsDir() { // Add path to ParseFiles } return }) http.HandleFunc("/", home) http.ListenAndServe(":8080", nil) } func home(w http.ResponseWriter, r *http.Request) { render(w, "index.html") } func render(w http.ResponseWriter, tmpl string) { err := templates.ExecuteTemplate(w, tmpl, nil) if err != nil { http.Error(w, err.Error(), http.StatusInternalServerError) } }

  • Use different updatetargetid based on view

    - by Jerrie Pelser
I have a web page which display a list of items in a HTML table. Above the list is a form which allows the user to add a new item to the list via AJAX (using Ajax.BeginForm). When the data is posted to the controller via AJAX I add the new item to the database backend and generate a new table row via a Partial View which then gets appended to the exisiting table. When the form to add new items however contains errors, I want to render the form back to the web browser and display that. So here is the question: Is it possible to specify the UpdateTargetId from within the controller? At the moment whatever View I return from the controller gets inserted in the same target, but I would like to update a different target (ie. different UpdateTargetId) based on whatever view was returned from the controller. Any help would be appreciated...

  • File Encrypt/Decrypt under load?

    - by chopps
I found an interesting article about encrypting and decrypting files but since it uses a file.dat to store the key this will run into problems when theres alot of users on the site dealing with alot of files. http://www.codeproject.com/KB/security/VernamEncryption.aspx?display=Print Should a new file be created every time a file needs decrypting or would there be a better way to do this? UPDATE: Here is what im using to avoid the locking problems. using (Mutex FileLock = new Mutex(true, System.Guid.NewGuid().ToString())) { try { FileLock.WaitOne(); using (FileStream fs = new FileStream(keyFile, FileMode.Open)) { keyBytes = new byte[fs.Length]; fs.Read(keyBytes, 0, keyBytes.Length); } } catch (Exception ex) { EventLog.LogEvent(ex); } finally { FileLock.ReleaseMutex(); } } I tested it on 1000 TIFFs doing both encryption and decryption without any errors.

  • Get CruiseControl to talk to github with the correct public key.

    - by Danny Lister
Hi All, Has anybody installed git and ControlControl and got CruiseControl to pull from GitHub on a window 2003 server. I keep getting public key errors (access denied) - Which is good i suppose as that confirms git is talking to github. However what is not good is that I dont not know where to install the rsa keys so they will be picked up by the running process (git in the context of cc.net). Any help would save me a lot of hair! I have tried installing the keys into; c:\Program Files\Git.ssh Whereby running git bash and cd ~ take me to: c:\Program Files\Git Current error from CC.net is Error Message: ThoughtWorks.CruiseControl.Core.CruiseControlException: Source control operation failed: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly . Process command: C:\Program Files\Git\bin\git.exe fetch origin Thanks in advance

  • Algorithm for calculating definite integrals with bounds at infinity

    - by mbac32768
Suppose I have an integral that's bounded on one (or both) end by (-)infinity. AFAICT, I can't analytically solve this problem, it takes brute force (e.g. using a Left Riemann Sum). I'm having trouble generalizing the algorithm so that it sets the proper subdivisions; I'll either do far too much work to calculate something trivial, or not do nearly enough and have huge aliasing errors. Answering in any language is cool, but maybe someone with better google-fu can end this quickly. :) Is what I'm looking for as impossible as trying to measure the British coastline?

  • What is the maximum number of controls that a VBA form can hold?

    - by Lunatik
I'm currently building an Excel 2003 app that requires a horribly complex form and am worried about limitations on the number of controls. It currently has 154 controls (counted using Me.Controls.Count - this should be accurate, right?) but is probably only about a third complete. The workflow really fits a single form, but I guess I can split it up if I really have to. I see evidence in a Google search that VB6 (this usually includes VBA) has a hard limit of 254 controls in a form. However, I created a dummy form with well over 1200 controls which still loaded and appeared to work just fine. I did get some 'out of memory' errors when trying to add specific combinations of controls though, say 800 buttons and 150 labels, leading me to think that any limit might be affected by the memory requirements of each type of control. Does anyone have any information that might help ensure that I or, more importantly, other users with differing environments don't run into any memory issues with such a large form?

  • Missing prop-base file problem

    - by Tony
I am using Eclipse and SVNSubversion as a repository for a Java project. After updating the local repository and starting Eclipse, an error (in the Problems tab) appeared stating that a specific prop-base file was missing from the build path. Being inexperienced, I have accidentally deleted the prop-base file icon from the project build-path library section. Since then the numbers of errors have grown exponentially... What should I do? Updating the local repository and/or starting a new Eclipse project from the same source did not solve the problem, does anyone have an idea?

  • Implicit declaration when using a function before it is defined in C, why can't the compiler figure this out?

    - by rolls
As the title says, I know what causes this error but I want to know why the compiler gives it in this circumstance. Eg : main.c void test(){ test1(); } void test1(){ ... } Would give an implicit declaration warning as the compiler would reach the call to test1() before it has read its declaration, I can see the obvious problems with this (not knowing return type etc), but why can't the compiler do a simple pass to get all function declarations, then compile the code removing these errors? It just seems so simple to do and I don't believe I've seen similar warnings in other languages. Does anyone know if there is a specific purpose for this warning in this situation that I am overlooking?

  • javax.servlet import cannot be resolved after moving web servlet

    - by Michael Kjörling
I have written a small web servlet to run under Tomcat, using Eclipse Helios. In its old, non-source-controlled location, everything was fine, but now I need to add this to our source control system. Moving the old files out of the way, creating a new workspace, setting up the server connection and copying and importing the existing projects into the new workspace all worked fine once I figured out how to do it, but I can't get the servlet to build. Instead, I get a whole bunch of cannot be resolved to a type errors talking about various servlet class types; HttpServlet, HttpServletRequest, ServletException, etc. Another error that is almost certainly related is The import javax.servlet cannot be resolved. I am obviously missing something very basic, but I'm new to this (and not having the terminology really down pat probably doesn't help me Google for an answer). Any suggestions as to what I might be missing would be greatly appreciated.

Hello people, and sorry if that question is stupid I'm trying to use javascript with codeigniter and I can't get it right what I'm actually doing is placing jQuery inside the views folder and call it from one of my view files like that: <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> I get no response no errors it just doesn't work, I could also display more code but my first assumption is that there something wrong with the way I call it... maybe something with the paths? any workarounds? thanks in advance

  • NullPointerException Java help

    - by KP65
Hello guys. I've been tearing my hair out the past few hours trying to solve this problem. Every time I click on a JButton which should open a JFrame(And it does), i get a stacktrace saying I have a null point exception at these bits of code: In class A i have: aButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { B instanceofB = new B(userSession.getBalance()); }); and Class B super.getSomeBtn().setVisible(false); This is where the stacktrace says the errors are in the two above sections. I have a line exactly the same as the one above in Class B and it works fine? Really stuck here!

  • Is ActiveMQ unreliable?

    - by user122991
Hello, We have been using ActiveMQ 5.2 in our distributed enterprise application for about 3 months. During that time, we have experienced debilitating failures at least twice weekly. In particular, we see: 1) Topic publisher has its connection arbitrarily closed and experiences EOF on attempt to publish. Note well that this issue is not a function of some timeout. It does not correlate reliably with any inactivity. 2) Queue listeners never receive message. Message simply sits on Queue. 2) is much rarer (hardly ever) than 1). In both cases, the failures are highly intermittent-- they cannot be reliably reproduced through any testing usage pattern. Also, there are no errors or warning in the AMQ logs. Have others experienced similar problems? Is there an opinion that some other JMS provider is more reliable? thanks, Joe

  • Calculating a delta of years from a date

    - by Spiros
I am trying to figure out a way to calculate the year of birth for records when given the age to two decimals at a given date - in Perl. To illustrate this example consider these two records: date, age at date 25 Nov 2005, 74.23 21 Jan 2007, 75.38 What I want to do is get the year of birth based on those records - it should be, in theory, consistent. The problem is that when I try to derive it by calculating the difference between the year in the date field minus the age, I run into rounding errors making the results look wrong while they are in fact correct. I have tried using some "clever" combination of int() or sprintf() to round things up but to not avail. I have looked at Date::Calc but cant see something I can use. p.s. As many dates are pre-1970, I cannot not unfortunately use UNIX epoch for this.
