• If I use a video format converter to change a movie from AVI to MKV, will quality stay the same?

  I know they're both container formats and what matters is the actual codec used, but what I don't know is if video converting software will do anything to change the codec, or if it just repackages. The reason I need to know is that I have several .avi files with subtitle files, and I'm wanting to turn them into .mkv so I can attach the subs and not need a second subtitle file anymore. Will my new .mkv files be identical in video and audio quality to the original .avi?

• How can I verify the integrity of a WAN connection?

I suspect that the problem may be with the WAN link, and that TCP might not be detecting/correcting all errors. If I export it to Excel I can tinker around with the results but I would rather that I change the actual report than have users manually change it. • How do I fix a corrupted copy of .Net Framework on Windows 7?

  I receive the following error when trying to run applications that require .net Framework 3.5: "Could not load file or assembly 'System.Core, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest." I've tried numerous fixes, such as reinstalling through ad/remove software, copying the .net folder over from a clean windows 7 install, and running the .net cleanup tool. Just wondering if anyone has run into this issue before, or has an idea on how to fix it.

  On a lenovo ThinkServer RD240 running firmware 1.20 with the latest BNC software, using the remote console to redirect a CD-ROM fails with the error: "CD-ROM redirection is not supported on this platform". Similar error for forwarding an iso image, foppy and USB drive. I tried executing the management console from Ubuntu, Windows 7 and OS X with the exact same error. The question is: What platform does the jViewer console support any kind of media redirection?

Now, how do I check how distant are the recorded beats from their theoretical position i.e.: there is always some error in human recorded tracks, but is there any software that can show me the ideal (theoretical, quantized) beat and the recorded one and could alert me if the error is too big.   The problem I'd like to solve is that my desktop microphone picks up all my keystrokes very loudly compared with my voice. Even just lightly tapping a key without depressing it causes a loud click to be picked up. I'd like a way to filter out this type of sound, while picking up voice normally. Is there any software input equalizer/filter that could do this? Or alternatively, some sort of hardware hack?
