• JNI 'problmatic frame' causes JVM to crash

  Hi I'm using JNI to access the exiv2 library (written in C++) in Java and I'm getting a weird runtime error in the JNI code. I've tried using various -Xms and -Xmx options, but that seems to have no affect. Thus far ActiveDirectory has proved obstructively difficult so I've just whipped up a simple stub membership provider and put it in the GAC. When I edit /etc/crontab or edit any user(including root) crontab via "crontab -e" command, it just adds "(system) RELOAD (/etc/crontab)" or "(admin) RELOAD (cron/admin)" in the log. No CMD in the /var/log/cron. • Mail queue directory stuck in IIS SMTP server

  Hi there, We have an IIS SMTP server which sends out a largish number of mails (4000 or so) in batches overnight, and recently we've seen mails get "stuck" in the queue directory. Normally restarting the SMTP service seems to fix this, but it's happened a few times so I'm looking for more information. We sent out around 12,000 emails last night in 3 batches of roughly 4000. Around 10 hours later there are still 2000 or so in the queue directory which don't seem to be leaving the queue. Any new mails which appear in the queue are picked up almost immediately and sent to their destination, but these 2000 or so don't seem to move. Looking at the date modified on the emails some match up with the time they were sent, but around 1000 of them have modified dates stretching up to now. e.g. there was one mail with a date in the message headers of 5:30 this morning, but it's date modified is 11:50 and there are 3 other messages with a date modified of 11:50, then 5 with 11:49, 2 with 11:45 stretching back for a few hours and all with actual message headers far earlier. • IIS 7 doesn't do a 301 redirect

  Hi there! I have just migrated some sites to IIS7 from IIS6, and am experiencing problems with one of the sites. When a request comes in for the site (www.ourdomain.com/site1/) with a trailing slash everything is fine. But if the trailing slash is left out (www.ourdomain.com/site1), then the request fails. Apparently it doesn't do a 301 redirect on the slashl-less URL, resulting in ASP.NET throwing an exception. This is not happening with the other sites at the same domain. • Why is 32-bit-mode required in IIS7.5 for my app?

  I have a .net4 web application running in a 64 bits 2008 server. I can only get it to run when I set the app pool to Enable 32-bits application to true. All dlls are compiled for .net4 (verified with corflags.exe). How can I figure out why Enable 32-bit is required? • Windows Server 2008 - inexplicable system time jumps/glitches/inaccuracies

  I'm running a production web server on Windows Server 2008. On this server I have a database which logs certain user actions, but every now and again I inexplicably get database entries which, according to the record ID and the records immediately before and after, have the wrong time logged against them (7 days+ too old). For example, record ID 1001 will be for Dec 7, 11pm, 1002 will be for Dec 7, 11:01pm, then 1003 will be for Nov 28, 1:38am, then the next will be back on track again. The problem seems to occur in random records (or 2-3 records in a row) and crops up once every few days. This is absolutely baffling because there is only one place in the application that assigns this date/time value and it's simply the system UTC date. I have been synchronizing the system time to time-a.nist.gov (which I read in another article was a bit more reliable than the default time.windows.com) and it seems to occasionally get out of time anyway (3-4 minutes), but I'm speculating that occasionally the time server has a temporary glitch where the date changes to a drastically wrong value for a short space of time, then changes back. Either that, or the motherboard clock battery is screwed and the reason the time momentarily changes is that the motherboard loses the time and then the time synchronization puts it back again. Could either of my suspicions be right? Should I turn off time synchronization for a production server? Assigning dates to an event log where the dates are up to 2 weeks prior to the actual date is a severe problem I can't have when the next version of my application is released. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Ideally, I would like it to act similar to the Mail menu bar actions, in which it saves the message and the attachments together. • DNSSEC - First Signature

  I'm testing DNSSEC with Bind 9.7.2-P2. I have a question regarding the first signature created over a zone that already exists. I'm using dynamic DNS. I create the first two keys: one KSK and one ZSK. According to https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-dnsop-dnssec-key-timing/, the first ZSK needs to be published for an interval equal to Ipub, before it can be active. I create the ZSK with a Publication date previous to its Activation date. I restart the service and I can see that the key is published at Publication date, but it's no active later, when Activation date arrives. This is the configuration of the zone dnssec.es at the named.conf file: zone "dnssec.es" { auto-dnssec maintain; update-policy local; sig-validity-interval 1; key-directory "dnssec/keys_dnssec"; type master; file "dnssec/db.dnssec.es"; }; Any clue?? • Possible attack on my SQL server?

Is this a possible attack on my SQL Server from the chineese???! I looked up the IP adress, at ip-lookup.net which stated it was chineese. And what to do? - Block the IP adress in the firewall? - Delete the user sa? And how do I protect my web server the best?! :) Thanks in advance!

• linux: per-process monitor, every 10 minutes, with history access

  I really didn't know a better way to ask my question, hence you get a horribly named question. I will explain what i want to do, maybe that will help you help me. I would like to have my linux machine continuously monitor (every 10 minutes) all the processes on my machine. The information from each process that I require is the name, CPU usage, allocated (virtual) memory, and resident (ram) memory. If these periodic reports were to be looked at, they would look something like this: PROCESS CPU RAM VIRTUAL name1 % MB MB name2 % MB MB ...etc..etc These reports should be stored in such a way that I can access them at a later date by giving a date/time scope (range). For instance, if I want to see the history of my processes from 12:00:00 1.12.12 till 12:00:00 2.12.12 I can - and it should give me the history of the processes for every 10 minutes between those date/time borders. The format of the return is not important, that will be handled by a script anyway and can be modified into anything I need. I have looked into a few things so far, but have not found something that clearly meets my needs. Among the things i searched: sar, free(1), top(1).. and a few other things. It should be a simple issue, i can already see all this information by simply looking at my htop, but i need only a tool that will gather the desired fields for me for each processes every 10 minutes, and then also let me extract slices of that data based on date/time scopes (ranges). note: I have limited experience with linux, so please give detailed information. note2: The desired output will be something like this (after receiving the desired range) CPU USAGE BY PROCESS: proc_nameA 1,2,2,2,2,2...... numbers represent % usage every 10 minutes... proc_nameB 4,3,3,6,1,2...... The same idea with the other information.

• Gentoo server time issue, can't manually set time, NTPD won't correct, too big of a time difference

  So, my server is living in the future, unfortunately I can't get lottery numbers, or stock picks out of it. It thinks this is the time: Thu Nov 7 04:07:18 EST 2013 Not correct, I tried to set the time manually via date in a few ways # date -s "06 NOV 2013 14:48:00" # date 110614482013 -- same output, same problem Which outputs Wed Nov 6 14:48:00 EST 2013, but when I check the date again, it's still set to Nov 7th 0400 or whatever. I checked my system messages, and I see this pop up often: Nov 7 03:54:00 www ntpd[4482]: time correction of -47927 seconds exceeds sanity limit (1000); set clock manually to the correct UTC time. Which makes sense, we're way off the correct time. But I can't seem to manually fix it. So now what? Also, I'm wondering if my hardware clock is setup correct, hwclock doesn't return any values. Would that be causing issues? This is a virtualized server, I don't have direct access to the hypervisor, but I can talk to who does, assume I can explain myself well enough. Thanks

• Summer daylight time not changing on some active directory domain clients.

  We just had a summer daylight change in US. and pc's on my network are behaving strange, some of them change time and some didn't. My network: 2 locations both in Midwest, same time zone. Location 1: 120 pcs (windows xp & windows 200) , with 1 Active Direcotry Domain Controller on Windows 2003 Standard. A couple of windows 2000 servers (they up to date) the rest of the servers are Xen or Debian machines (all up to date) , Second location connected through OpenVPN link all pc's are running fine - but they are all connecting to our AD domain controller. Locaiton 2: 10 pcs, and a shared LAN NAS. Both of the routers/firewalls in both locations are pFsense boxes with ntp service running - but it's up to date. Tried all the usual suspects: I have all the latest updates installed restarted them domain controller is running fine most computers are running fine I have only one domain controller on my network also my firewall serves as ntp server (pfsense) but it's up to date. all of the linux machines are fine since they are querying firewall / router for the time. about 1/3 of my pcs are 1 hour behind. If I change them manually they just change back ( the way domain pc's are supposed to). I've tried everything but I can't think of anything else to try.
