  • Is passing a Command object/Reader to a function a good idea?

    I've been getting some inexplicable errors (running out of connections from the connection pool) with MySql database with .Net 4 (C#). Till now all my attempts at finding a reason for this have been in vain. Now I also have a situation in which a lock on a table is not cleared for a long time even though all I have been doing is read operations from it. My code looks okay (I've put all readers and connections in using blocks). The only anomaly I have is that I've been passing MySqlCommand and MySqlDataReader objects as parameters to functions who work with them. That doesn't seem like a bad idea for me because it avoids some repetition (DRY!). But since I can't find any other explanation I have to suspect that this is causing the problem. What do you think?

  • How can I call an Actionscript function when the .swf is referenced by jQuery?

    I have an .swf that I am embedding into HTML using the jQuery SWF Object plugin (http://jquery.thewikies.com/swfobject). I have a number of functions within the .swf that I need to call from within javascript functions. I've made these actionscript functions accessible to javascript by calling flash.external.ExternalInterface.addCallback(). Yet nothing happens when I make the call. I've had this happen before and it seems to be that when you reference the .swf from jQuery, you can't call flash functions. Is there anyway around this (aside from not using jQuery)? Thanks.

    Hi, I'm creating ignore list in a windows machinge using following: svn propset svn:ignore "bin" Fardis.Test directory structure is: src\ src\Fardis.Test\ src\Fardis.Test\bin\ src\Fardis.Test\obj\ I'm running that command while my currecnt dir is src. This works good but I want to add another more folder (obj) to ignore list, it fails. I tried follwings: svn propset svn:ignore "bin obj" Fardis.Test svn propset svn:ignore "bin, obj" Fardis.Test svn propset svn:ignore "bin; obj" Fardis.Test After issuing which one of them, svn status shows that none of folders bin or obj is added to ignore list. How can I solve this?

How about a double array? I know I am probably mixing things here in between primitive and value types.     In the contact us template I want to have a dropdown with the list of offices (All offices articles are places under the same parent node, so getting the list should be fairly easy). I need a way to add the office email address (Template variable from the Office article) to the email generated by Modx's eForm. I don't want the email address to be visible in the contact us form, but a snippet fetching the article Template variable email address. I also want a link from each offices article to the contact us form with the office preselected in the dropdown. How should I implement this?

    Our company would like to redirect all calls to html files on our server to a separate page. The html pages are NOT in an asp.net application. In order to do this, I've been writing and IIS Handler in asp.net. 1) Is this possible to add an IIS handler to redirect static content that isn't served by any asp.net engine, i.e. stand alone files on the server? 2) If it is possible, how do I do this? I created an http handler in a class library. In the app.config I added the handler to the and sections. I added the DLL to the GAC, I changed the html mapping to my custom IIS dll and nothing works. Is there a tutorial or explanation from A to B on how to do this? Thanks. E p.s. I'm using IIS 7.5

    This code works fine to find an available room within certain date, but it does not work to show a room that has been booked and canceled The "hotel" has 4 rooms and 1 of them has been booked an canceled So even if I make a cancelation, the select method keeps giving me 3 results. Maybe because the second AND is still running. So basically what I need is check if the room is booked in the selected dates if it has been booked, check if its canceled if it has been canceled, or not booked display it.   • Drupal 7: Create a taxonomy term for each node and use the node title as the term name

    Is there anyway of doing this by using rules or by some custom code? I did try using rules but I can't find a way of adding a new term and set the name as the node title because the [node:title] token is not avilable. I know this is possible using the NAT module but the way this module changes the taxonomy terms hierarchy if you add a term reference field that uses the same taxonomy vocabulary which ruins the whole purpose of what I am trying to do.

    Basically, I'd like to do the following, only using Common Lisp instead of Python: print("Hello world.\r\n") I can do this, but it only outputs the #\newline character and skips #\return: (format t "Hello world.~%") I believe I could accomplish this using an outside argument, like this: (format t "Hello world.~C~%" #\return) But is seems awkward to me. Surely I can somehow embed #\return into the very format string, like I can #\newline? Yeah ehh, I'm nitpicking. Thanks for any help!

  • How to create HTML email with embeded image and show it in the default mail client using .net (c#)?

    If you look at the Snip tool in windows there is an option to send the snip as an embedded attachment in the default mail client (I guess as an html email). I need exactly that. At the moment I am using simple MAPI to attach the image but that does not allow embedding. One key requirement is that it should be created and then shown in the default mail client. I don't think I can use System.Net.Mail for that. Or can I? Its a WPF application using c#.

  • How to use LINQ to SQL to create ranked search results?

    I am looking for a way to use l2s to return ranked result based on keywords. I would like to take a keyword and be able to search the table for that keyword using .contains(). The trick that I haven't been able to figure out is how to get a count of how many times that keyqord appears, and then .OrderByDescending() based on that count. So if i had some thing like: string keyword = "SomeKeyword"; IQueryable<Article> searchResults = from a in GenesisRepository.Article where a.Body.Contains(keyword) select a; What is the best way to order searchResults based on the number of times keyword appears in a.Body?
