• How do I exclude data from local table schema_migrations from being pushed to Heroku DB?

  I was able to push my Ruby on Rails app with MySQL(local dev) to the Heroku server along with migrating my model with the command heroku rake db:migrate. I have also read the documentation on Database Import/Export. Is that doc referring to pushing actual data from my local dev DB to whichever Heroku's DB? Do I need to modify anything in the file database.yml to make it happen? I ran the following command: heroku db:push and I am getting the error: Sending data 2 tables, 3 records !!! Caught Server Exception | ETA: --:--:-- Taps Server Error: PGError ERROR: duplicate key value violates unique constraint "unique_schema_migrations" I have 2 tables, one I create for my app and the other schema_migrations. The total number of entries among the 2 tables is 3. I'm also printing the number of entries I have in the table I have created and it's showing 0. Any ideas what I might be missing or what I am doing wrong? EDIT: I figured out the above, Heroku's DB already have schema_migrations the moment I ran migrate. New question: Does anyone know how I can exclude data from a specific table from being pushed to Heroku DB. The table to exclude in this case will be schema_migrations. Not so good solution: I googled around and someone else was having the same issue. He suggested naming the schema_migrations table to zschema_migrations. In this way data from the other tables will be pushed properly until it fails on the last table. It's a pretty bad solution but will do for the time being. A better solution will be to use an existing Rails command which can reset a specific table from a database. I don't think Rake can do that.

• Maven Mojo & SCM Plugin: Check for a valid working directory

  Hi there. I'm using maven-scm-plugin from within a Mojo and am trying to figure out how to determine if a directory D is a valid working directory of an SCM URL U (i.e. a checkout of U to D already happened). The context is that I want to do a checkout of U if D is a working set or do an update if it isn't. The plan is to check out U to D if D does not exist, update D if D is a valid working directory of U, display an error if D exists and is not a valid working directory of U. What I tried is to call ScmManager.status(), ScmManager.list() and ScmManager.changelog() and try to guess something from their results. But that didn't work. The results from status and changelog always return something positive (isSuccess() = true, getChangedFiles() = valid List, no exceptions to catch), whereas list throws an exception in any case. ScmRepository and ScmFileSet don't seem to provide suitable methods as well. An option would be to always do an update if D exists but then I cannot tell if it is a working directory of U or any SCM working directory at all. The ideal solution would be independent of the actual SCM system and a specific ScmVersion. Thanks for your help! Patrick

• How to use a int2 database-field as a boolean in Java using JPA/Hibernate

  Hello... I write an application based on an already existing database (postgreSQL) using JPA and Hibernate. There is a int2-column (activeYN) in a table, which is used as a boolean (0 = false (inactive), not 0 = true (active)). In the Java application i want to use this attribute as a boolean. So i defined the attribute like this: @Entity public class ModelClass implements Serializable { /*..... some Code .... */ private boolean active; @Column(name="activeYN") public boolean isActive() { return this.active; } /* .... some other Code ... */ } But there ist an exception because Hibernate expects an boolean database-field and not an int2. Can i do this mapping i any way while using a boolean in java?? • Email not sent until application closes

  I have an application that uses SmtpClient to send E-Mail, but the E-Mails are not sent until the application closes. I have searched and searched to find a solution to the problem, but I am not able to find one. The system does have Symantec anti-virus installed, which could possibly be the problem. Does anybody have a solution to this problem? • findViewById returns null in new Intent

  I am having a problem where in the started Intent, the findViewById returns null. Is there anything special I should know about starting a new intent? • Convert Form to UserControl

  I have a 3rd party code library that I'm using; part of this library is a winforms application for editing the configuration files used by this library. I would like to embed their configuration editor app into my application. I have the source code to their library and the configuration editor is (as far as I can tell) a straight forward Winforms app using standard controls. I'm trying to convert the app's main form into a UserControl so that I can host it inside my application which is WPF (WPF's WindowsFormsHost won't host a Form object, I get an exception). I changed the form object to inherit from UserControl instead of Form and fixed all the compiler errors (there weren't many, just property initializations that don't exist on UserControls) but what's happening is my newly converted control is just blank. When I run my test app I don't see any of the controls that make up the original form, just a blank page. Any ideas? I really don't want to have to re-implement their app from scratch, that would suck. Edit: I forgot to mention I'm testing this in a WinForms application, not WPF, to just get the control working before trying to use it from WPF.

  I have problem understanding the concept of Hazelcast Distributed Execution. It is said to be able to perform the execution on the owner instance of a specific key. Parameters: task - task key - key Returns: a Future representing pending completion of the task I believe that I'm not alone to have a cluster built with multiple maps which might actually use the same key for different purposes, holding different objects (e.g. something along the following setup): IMap<String, ObjectTypeA> firstMap = HazelcastInstance.getMap("firstMap"); IMap<String, ObjectTypeA_AppendixClass> secondMap = HazelcastInstance.getMap("secondMap"); To me it seems quite confusing what documentation says about the owner of a key. My real frustration is that I don't know WHICH - in which map - key does it refer to? • The following code to check if a file exists on a server does not work

  Hi Everyone, I found the following code to check if a file exists on a server, but is not working for me. It tells me that "test1.tx" does not exist even though the file exists and its size is 498 bytes. If I try with Ftp.ListDirectory it tells me that the file does not exist. If I try with Ftp.GetFileSize it does not provide any results and the debugger's immediate gives me the following message: A first chance exception of type 'System.Net.WebException' occurred in System.dll. Using "request.UseBinary = true" does not make any difference. • Can I serialize an object if I didn't write the class used to instantiate that object?

When I introduced the above statement which contains ContactDataContext, I got the following error "In assembly ... PublicKeyToken=null' is not marked as serializable" It's clear that the DataContext class is generated by the framework (). I checked and did not see where that class was marked serialize. What can I do to overcome that? What's the rule when I'm not the author of a class? Just go ahead and mark the DataContext class as serializable, and pretend that everything will work?   I have a piece of code that sends email.. heres the code This is not working for me. This a remote smtp service ... and i double checked that email web access works fine .. i can login using the gui, recieve and send emails.   I'm having a hard time trying to get my stored procedure works with NHibernate. The data returned from the SP does not correspond to any database table. And later on in CheckNamedQueries function, it is not able to find the persistor for SomeClass. I've checked all the obvious things (e.g. make hbm as an embedded resource) and my code isn't too much different from other samples I found on the web, but somehow I just can't get it working. Any idea how I can resolve this issue?

• C#.NET DataGridView - update database

  I know this is a basic function of the DataGridView, but for some reason, I just can't get it to work. I just want the DataGridView on my Windows form to submit any changes made to it to the database when the user clicks the "Save" button. On form load, I populate the DataGridView and that's working fine. Now ruleTableDA.Update(dt) is throwing the exception "Concurrency violation: the UpdateCommand affected 0 of the expected 1 records." Thanks very much!

• how do i execute a stored procedure with vici coolstorage?

  I'm building an app around Vici Coolstorage (asp.net version). I have my classes created and mapped to my database tables and can pull a list of all records fine. I've written a stored procedure where the query jumps across databases that aren't mapped with Coolstorage, however, the fields in the query result map directly to one of my classes. The procedure takes 1 parameter. so 2 questions here: how do i execute the stored procedure? i'm doing this CSParameterCollection collection = new CSParameterCollection(); collection.Add("@id", id); var result = Vici.CoolStorage.CSDatabase.RunQuery("procedurename", collection); and getting the exception "Incorrect syntax near 'procedurename'." (i'm guessing this is because it's trying to execute it as text rather than a procedure?) and also, since the class representing my table is defined as abstract, how do i specify that result should create a list of MyTable objects instead of generic or dynamic or whatever objects? if i try Vici.CoolStorage.CSDatabase.RunQuery<MyTable>(...) the compiler yells at me for it being an abstract class.

With this done, now I am trying to run some simple codes from the internet to get acquainted with the OpenCV. I am just trying to display video from webcam and I am getting the following error..   I'm having trouble following this guide to "extract" my interfaces and entities from my EAR to use them from another Web Application: I use NetBeans 6.8 and Glassfish 3.0.1 "Java Class Library" project contains all the entities and interfaces "Java EE Application" project class library added to the project, is packaged into the EAR contains EJB implementations, MDBs, Test "Java Web Application" project class library added to the project, is packaged into the WAR contains REST interface When I build and deploy the Web Application, all goes well. When I build the JEE application, I can see the jar-file (interfaces, entities) being included. • SIGABRT on any UIView touch

  Hi. I'm afraid no amount of Googling has been able to save my hyde on this. I seem to be getting SIGABRT error anytime I touch the screen of the phone, on any UIView. The debugger console posts this error before the SIGABRT: .... [310:207] *** -[UIView _exclusiveTouchView]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x14c0c0 .... [310:207] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[UIView _exclusiveTouchView]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x14c0c0' (this is not my specific call to _exclusiveTouchView, of course.) I would gladly post some code, but the truth is I cannot find (or guess) where this problem may be coming from. This is not happening on any ONE UIView but on all the UIViews in my stack. I can summarize the display logic, though, perhaps that will shed some light. So the application is created and a UIWindow is alloc'd. A single viewcontroller is then alloc'd, which makes and adds its own blank self.view, to which the other UIViews, representing the different game states, are attached. Interestingly enough, this error is does NOT happen on the Simulator, but happens consistently on the device. And I should also mention that the application has yet to override/use any of the touchesBegan:/Ended:/Moved: etc... In other words, this error happens without these methods in the code. I'm really not understanding where this error is coming from... Any suggestions?

  I want to provide simple href links to my PDF forms that reside in my Forms folder. I have a created a simple Index.aspx and FormController Index action that simple iterates through the list of PDF files using my FormMetaData.xml file. The links get created just fine but when you click on the links I get a 404 exception. That looks like this: Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly. Requested URL: /Forms/ccindteamgolfform.pdf Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.4927; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.4927 This seems like this should open up a new browser window with the PDF in it but perhaps I am making a bad assumption. The PDF content files have Build Action of Content and Copy to Output set to Copy Always. Here is an example output html for the link from my Index.aspx page: <span class="form"> <a href="Forms/ccindteamgolfform.pdf" target="_blank"> <span class="description">Entry Form</span></span> I must be missing something because this does not work. Do I need to add a MapRoute for these documents? Or am I missing something else with the routing? This seems like it should not be that difficult.

• Jackrabbit version delete -- name is unexpected

  I'm using Apache Jackrabbit to store versioned data. I'm following the template listed on the Jackrabbit wiki for versioning basics, but there's one thing that isn't working as expected. After I run the code from the wiki, I try saving another version of the node, then getting its version string: child = parentNode.getNode("childNode"); child.checkout(); child.setProperty("anyProperty", "Blah3"); session.save(); Version thisVersion = child.checkin(); System.out.println(thisVersion.getName()); The output of this code is 1.0.0 , when I want it to be 1.1 . My goal is to be able to remove the last -- and only the last -- version of a node, and have the next version have the same name as the removed version. I only care about doing this when the node is being added; if I can check in the node, and read the name (to get the version number) without an exception being thrown, I'm fine with not being able to remove the version. Looking around the internet, I can't find a way to accomplish this.

• How can I automatically release resources RAII-style in Perl?

  Say I have a resource (e.g. a filehandle or network socket) which has to be freed: open my $fh, "<", "filename" or die "Couldn't open filename: $!"; process($fh); close $fh or die "Couldn't close filename: $!"; Suppose that process might die. Then the code block exits early, and $fh doesn't get closed. I could explicitly check for errors: open my $fh, "<", "filename" or die "Couldn't open filename: $!"; eval {process($fh)}; my $saved_error = $@; close $fh or die "Couldn't close filename: $!"; die $saved_error if $saved_error; but this kind of code is notoriously difficult to get right, and only gets more complicated when you add more resources. In C++ I would use RAII to create an object which owns the resource, and whose destructor would free it. That way, I don't have to remember to free the resource, and resource cleanup happens correctly as soon as the RAII object goes out of scope - even if an exception is thrown. Unfortunately in Perl a DESTROY method is unsuitable for this purpose as there are no guarantees for when it will be called. Is there a Perlish way to ensure resources are automatically freed like this even in the presence of exceptions? Or is explicit error checking the only option?
