  • How do I compare between ByteString and ByteSymbol in squeak?

    - by Guy
    Hi, I want to execute the following code: methodName := thisContext sender method selector. aClass selectors do: [:current | current == methodName ifTrue: aBlock]. Although the strings are equal, it never steps into the "ifTrue", I've tried converting both of them to ByteArray\String and it steel didn't work. Any ideas of how to compare them so I will get to the "ifTrue"? Thanks in advance

  • How to program a real-time accurate audio sequencer on the iphone?

    - by Walchy
    Hi... I want to program a simple audio sequencer on the iphone but I can't get accurate timing. The last days I tried all possible audio techniques on the iphone, starting from AudioServicesPlaySystemSound and AVAudioPlayer and OpenAL to AudioQueues. In my last attempt I tried the CocosDenshion sound engine which uses openAL and allows to load sounds into multiple buffers and then play them whenever needed. Here is the basic code: init: int channelGroups[1]; channelGroups[0] = 8; soundEngine = [[CDSoundEngine alloc] init:channelGroups channelGroupTotal:1]; int i=0; for(NSString *soundName in [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"base1", @"snare1", @"hihat1", @"dit", @"snare", nil]) { [soundEngine loadBuffer:i fileName:soundName fileType:@"wav"]; i++; } [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0.14 target:self selector:@selector(drumLoop:) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; In the initialisation I create the sound engine, load some sounds to different buffers and then establish the sequencer loop with NSTimer. audio loop: - (void)drumLoop:(NSTimer *)timer { for(int track=0; track<4; track++) { unsigned char note=pattern[track][step]; if(note) [soundEngine playSound:note-1 channelGroupId:0 pitch:1.0f pan:.5 gain:1.0 loop:NO]; } if(++step>=16) step=0; } Thats it and it works as it should BUT the timing is shaky and instable. As soon as something else happens (i.g. drawing in a view) it goes out of sync. As I understand the sound engine and openAL the buffers are loaded (in the init code) and then are ready to start immediately with alSourcePlay(source); - so the problem may be with NSTimer? Now there are dozens of sound sequencer apps in the appstore and they have accurate timing. I.g. "idrum" has a perfect stable beat even in 180 bpm when zooming and drawing is done. So there must be a solution. Does anybody has any idea? Thanks for any help in advance! Best regards, Walchy

  • Updating a deallocated UIWebView from a background thread

    - by Dan Ray
    As you can see from the title, I've programmed myself into a corner and I've got several things working against me... In a UIViewController subclass that manages a large and complex view. One part of it is a UIWebView that contains output from a web request that I had to build and execute, and manually assemble HTML from. Since it takes a second or two to run, I dropped it into the background by calling self performSelectorInBackground:. Then from that method I call there, I use self performSelectorOnMainThread: to get back to the surface of the thread stack to update the UIWebView with what I just got. Like this (which I've cut down to show only the relevant issues): -(void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation { //then get mapquest directions NSLog(@"Got called to handle new location!"); [manager stopUpdatingLocation]; [self performSelectorInBackground:@selector(getDirectionsFromHere:) withObject:newLocation]; } - (void)getDirectionsFromHere:(CLLocation *)newLocation { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; CLLocationCoordinate2D here = newLocation.coordinate; // assemble a call to the MapQuest directions API in NSString *dirURL // ...cut for brevity NSLog(@"Query is %@", dirURL); NSString *response = [NSString stringWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:dirURL] encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:NULL]; NSMutableString *directionsOutput = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; // assemble response into an HTML table in NSString *directionsOutput // ...cut for brevity [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(updateDirectionsWithHtml:) withObject:directionsOutput waitUntilDone:NO]; [directionsOutput release]; [pool drain]; [pool release]; } - (void)updateDirectionsWithHtml:(NSString *)directionsOutput { [self.directionsWebView loadHTMLString:directionsOutput baseURL:nil]; } This all works totally great, UNLESS I've backed out of this view controller before CLLocationManager hits its delegate method. If this happens after I've already left this view, I get: 2010-06-07 16:38:08.508 EverWondr[180:760b] bool _WebTryThreadLock(bool), 0x1b6830: Tried to obtain the web lock from a thread other than the main thread or the web thread. This may be a result of calling to UIKit from a secondary thread. Crashing now... Despite what this says, I can repeatably cause this crash when I back out too early. I'm not at all convinced that attempting a UI update from a background thread is really the issue; I think it's that my UIWebView is deallocated. I suspect that the fact I was just IN a background thread makes the runtime suspect something's up about that, but I feel fairly sure that's not it. So how do I tell CLLocationManager not to worry about it, when I'm backing out of that view? I tried [self.locationManager stopUpdatingLocation] inside my viewWillDisappear method, but that didn't do it. (Incidentally, MapQuest's apis are FANTASTIC. Way WAY better than anything Google provides. I can't recommend them highly enough.)

  • JQuery UI Autocomplete - disallow free text entry?

    - by JK
    Is it possible to disallow free text entry in the JQuery UI autocomplete widget? eg I only want the user to be allowed to select from the list of items that are presented in the autocomplete list, and dont want them to be able to write some random text. I didn't see anything in the demos/docs describing how to do this. http://jqueryui.com/demos/autocomplete/ I'm using autocomplete like this $('#selector').autocomplete({ source: url, minlength: 2, select: function (event, ui) { // etc }

  • Dojo - How to position tooltip close to text?

    - by user244394
    Like the title says i want to be able to display the tooltip close to the text, currently it is displayed far away in the cell. Tobe noted the tooltip positions correctly for large text, only fails for small text. In DOJO How can i position the tooltip close to the text? I have this bit of code snippet that display the tooltip in the grid cells. • iOS App with OCMaps crashes when using the phone in chinese Language

    - by Pedro Morte Rolo
    I've been given the task of doing maintenance to a iOS application that uses OCMapView. I have just realized that when using the application in chinese language, it blows up when the selector doClustering is invoked on a OCMapView instance. This is for me a very puzzling behaviour, because I thought that regardless of the environment language, the OCMapView class should allways have the same methods. Am I wrong? Do you have any recomentations about how to find a solution to this problem? Thank you, Pedro

  • Best practice: How to use (repeat) CSS style attributes correctly?

    - by ellie
    Hi guys! As a CSS newbie I'm wondering if it's recommended by professionals to repeat specific style attributes and their not inherited but default properties for every relevant selector? For example, should I rather use body {background:transparent none no-repeat; border:0 none transparent; margin:0; padding:0;} img {background:transparent none no-repeat; border:0 none transparent; margin:0; outline:transparent none 0; padding:0;} div#someID {background:transparent none no-repeat; border:0 none; margin:0 auto; padding:0; text-align:left; width:720px; ...} or body {background:transparent; border:0; margin:0; padding:0;} img {background:transparent; border:0; margin:0; outline:0; padding:0;} div#someID {background:transparent; border:0; margin:0 auto; padding:0; text-align:left; width:720px; ...} or just what (I think) I really need body {background:transparent; margin:0; padding:0;} img {border:0; outline:0;} div#someID {margin:0 auto; width:720px; ...} If it's best practice to go with the first or second one what do you think about defining a class like .foo {background:transparent; border:0; margin:0; padding:0;} and then applying it to every relevant selector: <div id="someID" class="foo">...</div> Yep, now I'm totally confused... so please advise! Thanks!

  • How can I use this downloaded Class(es) on my Prototype Routine?

    - by O.C.
    I'm a newbie and I'm in need of some help. I'm working on a prototype for an app, but I'm learning at the same time. I want to display a popup image over a given UIView, but I would like it to behave like the UIAlertView or like the Facebook Connect for iPhone modal popup window, in that it has a bouncy, rubbber-band-like animation to it. I was able to find the following class(es) on the net, from someone who was trying to do something similar. He/she put this together, but there was no Demo, no instructions nor a way to contact them. Being that I am so new, I don't have any idea as to how to incorporate this into my code. This is the routine where I need the bouncy image to appear... //======================================================== // // productDetail // - (void) showProductDetail { _productDetailIndex++; if (_productDetailIndex > 7) { return; } else if (_productDetailIndex == 1) { NSString* filename = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"images/ICS_CatalogApp_0%d_ProductDetailPopup.png", _productDetailIndex]; [_productDetail setImageWithName:filename]; _productDetail.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeScale(0.1,0.1); [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.5]; // other animations goes here _productDetail.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeScale(1,1); // other animations goes here [UIView commitAnimations]; } NSString* filename = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"images/ICS_CatalogApp_0%d_ProductDetailPopup.png", _productDetailIndex]; [_productDetail setImageWithName:filename]; _productDetail.x = (self.width - _productDetail.width); _productDetail.y = (self.height - _productDetail.height); } and here is the code I found... float pulsesteps[3] = { 0.2, 1/15., 1/7.5 }; - (void) pulse { self.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeScale(0.6, 0.6); [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:pulsesteps[0]]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDidStopSelector:@selector(pulseGrowAnimationDidStop:finished:context:)]; self.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeScale(1.1, 1.1); [UIView commitAnimations]; } - (void)pulseGrowAnimationDidStop:(NSString *)animationID finished:(NSNumber *)finished context:(void *)context { [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:pulsesteps[1]]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDidStopSelector:@selector(pulseShrinkAnimationDidStop:finished:context:)]; self.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeScale(0.9, 0.9); [UIView commitAnimations]; } - (void)pulseShrinkAnimationDidStop:(NSString *)animationID finished:(NSNumber *)finished context:(void *)context { [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:pulsesteps[2]]; self.transform = CGAffineTransformIdentity; [UIView commitAnimations]; } My routine is based on the Prototyping class given by Apple during WWDC 09. It may not be "correct" but it works as is. I just would like to add the animation to this image/screen to really make the concept clear.

  • jQuery Adding DOM Elements

    - by Aren B
    This may be a simple answer, but I'm trying to add a dom-created element (i.e. document.createElement(...)) to a jQuery Selector. jQuery has a great assortment of functions for adding html .html(htmlString) .append(htmlString) .prepend(htmlString) But what i want to do is add a dom OBJECT var myFancyDiv = document.createElement("div"); myFancyDiv.setAttribute("id", "FancyDiv"); // This is the theoretical function im looking for. $("#SomeOtherDiv").htmlDom(myFancyDiv);

  • How to restrict rightBarButtonItem size in UINavigationBar ?

    I create a rightBarButtonItem with this method : - (UIBarButtonItem *)customBarButtonWithSelector:(SEL)callback { UIButton *customButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; customButton.bounds = CGRectMake(0, 0, 30.0f, 30.0f); return [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:customButton] autorelease]; } At execution time the selector is fired when the bar is touched outside the button (near the middle). Is there a way to restrict the event responder in the defined bounds or in a acceptable range ?

  • WordPress Custom Category Picker in Page Editor

    - by Scott B
    The 3 lines of code below will add a Category selector widget to the WordPress page editor. add_action('admin_menu', 'my_post_categories_meta_box'); function my_post_categories_meta_box() { add_meta_box('categorydiv', __('Categories'), 'post_categories_meta_box', 'page', 'side', 'core'); } I would like to slightly modify this in order to limit the number of categories that are listed to two: get_cat_ID('nofollow'), get_cat_ID('noindex') In other words, I only want the two categories, nofollow and noindex listed in this box.

  • Implementation of Nib project to Storyboard, Xcode

    - by Blake Loizides
    I have made a tabbed bar application in storyboard in xcode. I,m new to xcode. I got a Sample TableView XIB project from apple that I edited to my needs,The project has a UITableView that I Customized with Images, And with help of a certain forum member I was able to link up each image to a New View Controller. I tried to port or integrate My Nib Project Code to my StoryBoard Tabbed Bar Application.I thought I had everything right had to comment out a few things to get no errors, But the project only goes to a Blank Table View. Below are 2 links, 1 to my StoryBoard Tabbed Bar Application with the Table Code that I tried to integrate and the other My Successful Nib Project. Also is some code and pictures. If anybody has some free time and does not mind to help I would be extremely grateful for any input given. link1 - Storyboard link2 - XIB DecorsViewController_iPhone.m // // TableViewsViewController.m // TableViews // // Created by Axit Patel on 9/2/10. // Copyright Bayside High School 2010. • exc_bad_access on insertNewObjectForEntityForName:inManagedObjectContext

    I have a garbage collected Cocoa application built on 10.5 frameworks. In an NSOperation In a loop I am quickly creating hundreds of NSManagedObjects. Frequently the creation of those NSManagedObejcts will crash with a exc_bad_access error. for (offsetCount; offsetCount < [parsedData count]; offsetCount++) { NSManagedObject *child = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Thread" inManagedObjectContext:[self moc]]; Thumbnail *thumb = [Thumbnail insertInManagedObjectContext:[self moc]]; Image *image = [Image insertInManagedObjectContext:[self moc]]; ... } Thumbnail and Image are both subclasses of NSManagedObject generated with mogenerator. insertInManagedObjectContext: looks like NSParameterAssert(moc_); return [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Thumbnail" inManagedObjectContext:moc_]; NSParameterAssert(moc_); return [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Image" inManagedObjectContext:moc_]; The NSManagedObjectContext returned by [self moc] is created for the NSOperation with NSPersistentStoreCoordinator *coord = [(MyApp_AppDelegate *)[[NSApplication sharedApplication] delegate] persistentStoreCoordinator]; self.moc = [[NSManagedObjectContext alloc] init]; [self.moc setPersistentStoreCoordinator:coord]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(contextDidSave:) name:NSManagedObjectContextDidSaveNotification object:self.moc]; [self.moc setMergePolicy:NSMergeByPropertyObjectTrumpMergePolicy]; [self.moc setUndoManager:nil]; [self.moc setRetainsRegisteredObjects:YES]; moc is defined as (nonatomic, retain) and synthesized. As far as I can tell it, the persistent store and my appDelegate have no reason to be and are not being garbage collected. The stack trace looks like Thread 2 Crashed: Dispatch queue: com.apple.root.default-priority 0 libauto.dylib 0x00007fff82d63600 auto_zone_root_write_barrier + 688 1 libobjc.A.dylib 0x00007fff826f963b objc_assign_strongCast_gc + 59 2 com.apple.CoreFoundation 0x00007fff88677068 __CFBasicHashAddValue + 504 3 com.apple.CoreFoundation 0x00007fff88676d2f CFBasicHashAddValue + 191 4 com.apple.CoreData 0x00007fff82bdee5e -[NSManagedObjectContext(_NSInternalAdditions) _insertObjectWithGlobalID:globalID:] + 190 5 com.apple.CoreData 0x00007fff82bded24 -[NSManagedObjectContext insertObject:] + 148 6 com.apple.CoreData 0x00007fff82bbd75c -[NSManagedObject initWithEntity:insertIntoManagedObjectContext:] + 716 7 com.apple.CoreData 0x00007fff82bdf075 +[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:inManagedObjectContext:] + 101 8 com.yourcompany.MyApp 0x000000010002c7a7 +[_Thumbnail insertInManagedObjectContext:] + 256 (_Thumbnail.m:14) 9 com.yourcompany.MyApp 0x000000010002672d -[ThreadParse main] + 10345 (B4ChanThreadParse.m:174) 10 com.apple.Foundation 0x00007fff85ee807e -[__NSOperationInternal start] + 698 11 com.apple.Foundation 0x00007fff85ee7d23 ____startOperations_block_invoke_2 + 99 12 libSystem.B.dylib 0x00007fff812bece8 _dispatch_call_block_and_release + 15 13 libSystem.B.dylib 0x00007fff8129d279 _dispatch_worker_thread2 + 231 14 libSystem.B.dylib 0x00007fff8129cbb8 _pthread_wqthread + 353 15 libSystem.B.dylib 0x00007fff8129ca55 start_wqthread + 13 My app is crashing in other places with exc_bad_access but this is code that it happens most with. All of the stack traces look similar and have something to do with CFHash. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Looking for Reachability (2.0) Use Case Validation

    - by user350243
    There is so much info out there on using Apple's Reachability example, and so much is conflicting. I'm trying to find out of I'm using it (Reachability 2.0) correctly below. My App use case is this: If an internet connection is available through any means (wifi, LAN, Edge, 3G, etc.) a UIButton ("See More") is visible on various views. If no connection, the button is not visible. The "See More" part is NOT critical in any way to the app, it's just an add-on feature. "See More" could be visible or not anytime during the application lifecycle as connection is established or lost. Here's how I did it - Is this correct and/or is there a better way? Any help is Greatly Appreciated! lq // AppDelegate.h #import "RootViewController.h" @class Reachability; @interface AppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { UIWindow *window; UINavigationController *navigationController; RootViewController *rootViewController; Reachability* hostReach; // NOT USED: Reachability* internetReach; // NOT USED: Reachability* wifiReach; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UINavigationController *navigationController; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet RootViewController *rootViewController; @end // AppDelegate.m #import "AppDelegate.h" #import "Reachability.h" #define kHostName @"www.somewebsite.com" @implementation AppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize navigationController; @synthesize rootViewController; - (void) updateInterfaceWithReachability: (Reachability*) curReach { if(curReach == hostReach) { NetworkStatus netStatus = [curReach currentReachabilityStatus]; BOOL connectionRequired = [curReach connectionRequired]; // Set a Reachability BOOL value flag in rootViewController // to be referenced when opening various views if ((netStatus != ReachableViaWiFi) && (netStatus != ReachableViaWWAN)) { rootViewController.bConnection = (BOOL *)0; } else { rootViewController.bConnection = (BOOL *)1; } } } - (void) reachabilityChanged: (NSNotification* )note { Reachability* curReach = [note object]; NSParameterAssert([curReach isKindOfClass: [Reachability class]]); [self updateInterfaceWithReachability: curReach]; } - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { // NOTE: #DEFINE in Reachability.h: // #define kReachabilityChangedNotification @"kNetworkReachabilityChangedNotification" [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver: self selector: @selector(reachabilityChanged:) name: kReachabilityChangedNotification object: nil]; hostReach = [[Reachability reachabilityWithHostName: kHostName] retain]; [hostReach startNotifer]; [self updateInterfaceWithReachability: hostReach]; [window addSubview:[navigationController view]]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } - (void)dealloc { [navigationController release]; [rootViewController release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } @end

  • How to Fake a AsyncToken return in ActionScript 3

    - by Brett
    Using Parsley, I have a service that I access through a [Command(selector='list')] public function getRssFeed( msg:RssEvent ):AsyncToken { return service.list() as AsyncToken; } when I point to the "Real" RssService, everything works as expected. My problem is when I point to the "Mock" RssService. I can't figure out how to fake a AsyncToken with some dummy data return... does anyone knows how to do this ?
