  • jQuery UI portlets - toggle portlets to save to a cookie (half way there!)

    Hi, I'm a bit of a jQuery n00b so please excuse me if this seems like a stupid question. I am creating a site using the jQuery UI more specifically the sortable portlets. I have been able store whether or not a portlet is has been open or closed to a cookie. This is done using the following code.   • SQL Server 2008 R2 CTP Installer crashes instantly after starting it

    Hi, I'm trying to update my existing SQL server 2008 SP1 installation with SQL Server 2008 R2 (November CTP). I started the setup and chose the upgrade option and after some time the installer told me to reboot. As soon as I confirmed with OK, it crashed. After rebooting I can't even run the setup file anymore. it crashes instantly without an error message. What's the recommended way of troubleshooting this? Thanks, Adrian

    Hi I would really like to give some sortable goodness to the myriad old tables I have created. A little work has a proof of concept behaving ok. My one sticking point is that the placeholder does not work at all in IE 7 when using item:TR . It works OK in FF. I can make an perform correctly.   • XML Socket and Regular Socket in Flash/Flex does not send message immediately.

    I am trying to build a basic RIA where my Flex application client opens an XML socket, sends the xml message "people_list" to server, and prints out the response. I have ruby at the server side and I have successfully set up the security policy stuff. The ruby xml server, successfully accepts the connections from Flex, successfully detects when they are closed and can also send messages to client. But; there is a problem... It cannot receive messages from flex client. The messages sent from flex client are queued and sent as one package when the socket is closed. Therefore, the whole wait-for-request-then-reply thing is not working... This is also -kinda- mentioned in the XMLSocket.send() document, where it is stated that the messages are sent async so; they may be delivered at any time in future. But; I need them to be synced, flushed or whatever.   • AMQP 'connection.open' reserved parameters

    I am writing an AMQP Client Library in Erlang. For the 'connection.open' method, there are 2 reserved parameters "documented" in AMQP 0.9.1 out of a total of 3. When I send the method in question without the "reserved parameters", I get "unable to decode method" in the error log. What should I be sending as value for those "reserved parameters" ?? Update: It seems the server still expects some parameters even if the parameters are deprecated (see source code for code generator).

    I am using CC.Net with MSBuild tasks to build an application that is composed of a number of solutions and projects. We are using the AssemblyInfo MSBuild Community task to update version info in AssemblyInfo.cs. Unfortunately the AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers attribute doesn't get in and the AssemblyInfo task tells me that the AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers attribute is not supported by the task. Is there any way to add that attribute through MSBuild without having to resort to a custom task that just tacks the line at the end of the file after-the-fact?

    Hi, I'm teaching myself cocoa and enjoying the experience most of the time. I have been struggling all day with a simple problem that google has let me down on. I have read the Cocoa Bindings Program Topics and think I grok it but still can't solve my issue. I have a very simple class called MTSong that has various properties. I have used @synthesize to create getter/setters and can use KVC to change properties. i.e in my app controller the following works: mySong = [[MTSong alloc]init]; [mySong setValue:@"2" forKey:@"version"]; In case I am doing something noddy in my class code MTSong.h is: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface MTSong : NSObject { NSNumber *version; NSString *name; } @property(readwrite, assign) NSNumber *version; @property(readwrite, assign) NSString *name; @end and MTSong.m is: #import "MTSong.h" @implementation MTSong - (id)init { [super init]; return self; } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @synthesize version; @synthesize name; @end In Interface Builder I have a label (NSTextField) that I want to update whenever I use KVC to change the version of the song. I do the following: Drag NSObjectController object into the doc window and in the Inspector-Attributes I set: Mode: Class Class Name: MTSong Add a key called version and another called name Go to Inspector-Bindings-Controller Content Bind To: File's Owner (Not sure this is right...) Model Key Path: version Select the cell of the label and go to Inspector Bind to: Object Controller Controller Key: mySong Model Key Path: version I have attempted changing the Model Key Path in step 2 to "mySong" which makes more sense but the compiler complains. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.     Hello i am using the AsyncFileUpload from the ajaxtoolkit, upter the upload is complete , i want to display all the images that were uploaded (and their URL is inserted into the DB) with my repeater and binding method. but its not working! the images are uploaded, the DB insert works file, but i cant see the images after the repeater is dinded.   • Semi-complex aggregate select statement confusion

    Alright, this problem is a little complicated, so bear with me. I have a table full of data. One of the table columns is an EntryDate. There can be multiple entries per day. However, I want to select all rows that are the latest entry on their respective days, and I want to select all the columns of said table. One of the columns is a unique identifier column, but it is not the primary key (I have no idea why it's there; this is a pretty old system). For purposes of demonstration, say the table looks like this: create table ExampleTable ( ID int identity(1,1) not null, PersonID int not null, StoreID int not null, Data1 int not null, Data2 int not null, EntryDate datetime not null ) The primary key is on PersonID and StoreID, which logically defines uniqueness. Now, like I said, I want to select all the rows that are the latest entries on that particular day (for each Person-Store combination). This is pretty easy: --Figure 1 select PersonID, StoreID, max(EntryDate) from ExampleTable group by PersonID, StoreID, dbo.dayof(EntryDate) Where dbo.dayof() is a simple function that strips the time component from a datetime. However, doing this loses the rest of the columns! I can't simply include the other columns, because then I'd have to group by them, which would produce the wrong results (especially since ID is unique). I have found a dirty hack that will do what I want, but there must be a better way -- here's my current solution: select cast(null as int) as ID, PersonID, StoreID, cast(null as int) as Data1, cast(null as int) as Data2, max(EntryDate) as EntryDate into #StagingTable from ExampleTable group by PersonID, StoreID, dbo.dayof(EntryDate) update Target set ID = Source.ID, Data1 = Source.Data1, Data2 = Source.Data2, from #StagingTable as Target inner join ExampleTable as Source on Source.PersonID = Target.PersonID and Source.StoreID = Target.StoreID and Source.EntryDate = Target.EntryDate This gets me the correct data in #StagingTable but, well, look at it! Creating a table with null values, then doing an update to get the values back -- surely there's a better way to do this? A single statement that will get me all the values the first time? It is my belief that the correct join on that original select (Figure 1) would do the trick, like a self-join or something... but how do you do that with the group by clause? I cannot find the right syntax to make the query execute. I am pretty new with SQL, so it's likely that I'm missing something obvious. Any suggestions? (Working in T-SQL, if it makes any difference)

I'm sending data back and forth between a web browser and a web service. The following steps emulates the communication between the two, using session-per-request. I first save a new instance of a Store: using (new SessionScope()) { // this is data from the browser var store = new Store { Id = Guid.Empty }; ActiveRecordMediator.SaveAndFlush(store); } Then I grab the store out of the DB, add a new product to it, and then save it: using (new SessionScope()) { // this is data from the browser var product = new Product { Id = Guid.Empty, Name = "Apples" }); var store = ActiveRecordLinq.AsQueryable<Store>().First(); store.Products.Add(product); ActiveRecordMediator.SaveAndFlush(store); } Up to this point, everything works well. Both entities are persistent. Then I tried to save a transient Product (the one that has the updated info from the browser) that has the same ID as the one that's already associated with the session, and an exception is thrown. However, I don't know how to get around this problem. If I could get access to a NHibernate.ISession, I could call ISession.Merge() on it, but it doesn't look like ActiveRecordMediator has anything similar (SaveCopy threw the same exception). Does anyone know the solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    I have an ASP.NET 3.5 WebForms application using Ninject 2.0. However, attempting to use the Ninject.Web extension to provide injection into System.Web.UI.Page, I'm getting a null reference to my injected dependency even though if I switch to using a service locator to provide the reference (using Ninject), there's no issue.   • Any one like me who still believes in AspNet Web forms? Or has evryone switched to MVC

    After years mastering Aspnet webforms I recently decided to try out ASpnet MVC. Naturally my first action was to google 'Aspnet webforms vs Aspnet MVC'. I hoped to get an honest comparison of the two development techniques and guidelines on when to use which one. ..But I was completely turned off by the MVC proponents. In almost every post on the net comparing the two 'platforms' the MVC camp is simply bashing webform developers like me. They go on and on about how wrong and stupid using webforms is. As if what we have been doing the past decade has been pointless - all those websites built(& still running), all those clever controls, the mighty gridview..ALL POINTLESS ! Karl Seguin especially with his stupid webforms rant really turned me off. If his intention was to convert people like me he did the oposite and made me defensive. If anything I am now convinced that the webforms approach is better. consider the following All the critical shortcomings of aspnet webforms have now been Addressed in visual studio 2010 with Aspnet 4.0.- Cleaner html, cleaner control IDs, friendly urls, leaner viewstate etc Why would any one want to implement the mighty gridview and other wonderful controls from scratch ? In MVC you have to do this yourself because ABSTRACTION IS PLAIN STUPID- Instead of writing loops why not just code using 1s and 0s then? A stateless web is a WEAKNESS so why would anyone want to get rid of viewstate? Everyone would like a better implementation but getting rid of it is a step backwards not forward. Unit testing is great but not a critical requirement for most web projects. I thought inline codes were dead with asp. But now they are back and fashionable - Thanks to MVC. I dont know about you people but codebehind was REVOLUTIONARY. Ive had the Ajax Update panel do so many wonderful things without writing a line of code so why demonise it? Ive succesfully implemented a chat client, IM client and Status bar using nothing but the update panel and script manager.Ofcourse you cant use it for everything but most of the time its appropriate. And finally the last word from JQUERY - 'Write less do more !' - That's what webforms is all about ! So Am I the only who still believes in webforms(and it getting better as Aspnet 4.0 has shown) or will it be dead and gone a few years from now like asp? I mean if inline coding is 'the future' why not just switch to PHP !

exist for the emailaddress dont update data else create a user and update its profilexml from data fecthed from gedcom. for this i think i need some soln by which i can do only one roundtrip to database and can update all user's xml. or i can execute one sp to get userid from all users where i'll check if user exist then return userid else insert basic data and return inserted userid then for every user make xml from data and update it. please provide be suggestion what is best practice to do this kind of development. if need any more details please write me

  • Impossible to do POSTs with appengine-jruby/RoR: Reflection is not allowed

    I'm trying to build a site with RoR on Google App Engine. I'm using the google-appengine gem (http://appengine-jruby.googlecode.com) and following the instructions in (http://gist.github.com/268192). The problem is that I can't submit ANY form! I've already tried this in two diferent clean Win 7 Pro envs and the result is the same. After install Ruby 1.8.6 (One-Click Installer): 1. gem update --system 2. gem install rails 3. gem install google-appengine 4. gem install rails_dm_datastore 5. gem install activerecord-nulldb-adapter 6. curl -O http://appengine-jruby.googlecode.com/hg/demos/rails2/rails2_appengine.rb 7. ruby rails2_appengine.rb (previously downloaded) 8. rails myproj 9. chmod myproj 10. ruby script/generate dd_model MyModel f1:string f2:float f3:float f4:float f5:integer f6:integer f7:integer -f 11. ruby script/generate scaffold MyModel f1:string f2:float f3:float f4:float f5:integer f6:integer f7:integer -f --skip-migration 12. dev_appserver.rb -p 3000 . At this point, I manually test the scaffold in (http://localhost:3000/my_models). The index is OK, then I create a new registry with the generated form, everything's fine, but when I try to create a second one, I get a "java.lang.RuntimeException: DummyDynamicScope should never be used for backref storage" in the console. As far as I read this is a won't-fix behavior in JRuby 1.4.1, but it's converted to a debug only warning in 1.5.0, so I proceed to install the pre release. 13. gem install appengine-jruby-jars --pre With this, that exception is solved and everything works great... until I move the project to the GAE server. 14. ruby appcfg.rb update . And now, in (http://myproj.appspot.com/my_models), again, the index is fine, also the new form, but in the moment that I submit it with valid data, I get a 500 error: "java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Reflection is not allowed on public int". As I said, this behavior is not present in the local SDK. In both cases, I'm completely unable to post anything.   • Disable mysql startup in Ubuntu 10.04

    Hi all, I want to prevent mysql from starting in ubuntu 10.04 I have used update-rc.d -f mysql remove and confirmed that there is no link to the /etc/inid.d/mysql script from any of the rc?.d directories. I also ran sysv-rc-conf and it shows me that mysql is being called as part of the rc.d scripts. It is still starting on boot. How do I disable it? Regards, Bryan
