• AMD Processors and the Windows Phone 8 Emulator

  I would madly appreciate it if anyone in this community would help me with my question. The background is that I want to develop Windows Phone 8 applications but both of my current computer processors do not have Hardware Virtualization & Second Level Address Translation that are needed to run the Emulator. I have my eyes on an AMD computer g7-2243us (I like it because it has 1600x900 screen res). I looked up this Link that shows that this computer's AMD processor (Next Gen AMD Quad-Core A8-4500M Accelerated 1.9GHz up to 2.8GHz 4MB L2 Cache Processor) supports AMD-V Hardware Virtualization. So, will this computer be able to run the emulator? Thank you so much for your answers. I'm pretty sure it will run the emulator, but I just want to make sure before spending $400. • Passenger, Apache and avoiding page caching

  I'm hosting a rack application with passenger and apache. The application is setup to cache the content of each request to the public directory after each request. This allows apache to serve the content directly as a static page for future requests. I would like to tell Apache, presumably through some rewrite rules that any requests with query parameters should not be cached, but instead passed down to the rack application. With a mongrel setup I would just redirect it to the balancer if it meets my rewrite conditions. How do you do the same with passenger?

• Not able to install iPhone final 3.2 SDK

  Hi All, I downloaded latest SDK xcode_3.2.2.2_and_iPhone_SDK_3.2_final.dmg from apple site. I uninstall the old SDk and double click the .dmg file then i got a popup stating that "The following Disk Images couldnt found" and "xcode_3.2.2.2_and_iPhone_SDK_3.2_final.dmg is not recognized". • Apache unable to write to files and folders on Fedora 16

  I've recently installed Fedora 16 on a new PC, and I'm intending to use it for developing my websites. I've set up Apache to host multiple development sites on the machine. Right now though, I am trying to install a PHP framework (Symfony2) and I'm unable to install it on to the web server. It comes back with an error saying that it's unable to write to the cache folder on the server. I have checked and modified the folder so that it is writeable, but still the error keeps being displayed? What am I doing wrong?

  I have a an array of byte, size n, that really represents an array of short of size n/2. Before I write the array to a disk file I need to adjust the values by adding bias values stored in another array of short. In C++ I would just assign the address of the byte array to a pointer for a short array with a cast to short and use pointer arithmetic or use a union. How may this be done in Java - I'm very new to Java BTW.

• Whats a valid strategy for a secure image upload from a flash client?

  Hi all - I'm creating a flash application that will post images to a url for saving to disk/display later. I was wondering what are some suggested strategies for making this secure enough so that the upload is verified as coming from the application and not just some random form post. Is it reliable enough to check referring location realizing that I don't need bulletproof security, or perhaps setting authentication headers is a better strategy even though it seems unreliable from what I have read. • IBM x226 server with Windows 2003 freezing and showing one HDD degraded

  We have an IBM x226 server with Windows 2003 running on it. For weeks it's been very slow and it freezes at least once each day. At the boot it show message "degraded" for one HDD and optimal for other HDDs. We have 4 HDDs in it set up in Raid 1. HDD 1 - HDD 2, HDD 3 - HDD4. It seems that HDD2 is the one who is causing problems (showing degraded status). There's an amber led blinking on it together with the green one. We installed ServerRAID manager downloaded from IBM and it gave us option for "rebuild". But the server froze at some point and now it's rebuilding from start again. I've done some Googling and it says that it could be to failing HDD or some cache battery. How can we verify what is the cause of this?

• Apache/Rails/Passenger directory URLs that don't end in '/' fail to 404.

  I'm using Apache with passenger to run a rails app. In my rails app, I have some static content in subdirectories of the public directory. Each subdirectory has an index.html in it. So, inside the public directory, I have a subdir called 'b' and inside it, is an index.html. So it's like this: /public/b/index.html I have links to these pages, of the form: http://a.com/b If I do this in my regular non-rails web directory, Apache correctly rewrites this URL to be http://a.com/b/ which then, subsequently shows the index.html. It's only when accessing my rails app that it doesn't work. In fact, if I turn off passenger mod... so it just accesses my rails app like a regular document root, it works correctly also. What the heck do I need to do to get this to work properly with passenger? Again, it works fine in apache itself when passenger is not involved. I am running passenger 2.1.3. I have another server running passenger 2.0 that doesn't seem to have this problem, but I don't see anything different in the config other than the different versions of passenger itself. HELP! Been working on this for two days solid with no improvement!

• How to determine the best byte size for the dd command

  I know that doing a dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdb does a deep hard drive copy. I've heard that people have been able to speed up the process by increasing the number of bytes that are read and written at a time (512) with the "bs" option. People have suggested that the optimal byte size is due to sector size. I personally think it would have something to do with the amount of cache that the hard drive has. My question is: What determines the ideal byte size for copying from a hard drive? and Why does that determine the ideal byte size?

  We are using nginx with php-fpm. We plan to make first page static (generate html file). if we have 100 concurrent connections, how we can handle file regeneration? basically we need generate new file index_new.html, then delete index.html, and then move index_new.html to index.html. What happens when index.html file was deleted? User gets 404 error? Or nginx handles file from OS cache? One idea is to tell nginx, that 404 error is index_new.html and then not to move index_new to index, but copy. But i don't like idea about 404 error. Thanks.

  It seems that all the wireless laptops in the office have disconnected and are unable to reconnect to the wifi after a terrible storm caused some power interruptions. Troubleshooting actions Verify wireless broadcasting is up With each laptop i ended up flushing their dns cache on Win 7 (ipconfig /flush ) Performed an ipconfig /all to see what the new ip is Made sure password was correct Reset the router (multiple times) restarted each laptop. Tried connecting wirelessly Am i missing some small detail ? Network information The router is a linksys/cisco WRVS4400N router. Supports a lot of fancy features i don't know how to use. As in this version colour themes are used to create a different colour in each pie chart (bulbble) in the function part I have the problem that it works depending on the paths to the colour paletts.   We have a user, where it doesn't matter who sends it, but if you send her a meeting invite through outlook (exchange 2007), you get a non-deliverable message back from another user. Same one all the time though. I checked her shared calendar properties and removed the user from the list. I checked and made sure she wasn't using cache mode. I checked the manage full permissions and send permissions within exchange and the user is not listed. What am I missing? Notes: Using Outlook 2007 with Exchange 2007 on a XP box and Server 2008.

• Changing Internet connection on ISA Server 2000

  Hi We are getting a new internet connection installed and will need to unplug the old one and connect this to our ISA Server 2000. Will this be a simple swap out job? We will be given a new ip, which i know i will have to enter into the external network card TCP/IP page. I will also be given the default gateway to enter. The ISP engineer said we may have to reset the ARP? cache, if we dont know how we will have to reset the ISA server? Has anyone any experience? The current connection is with the same ISP but it was owned by the business park were we are located and they linked up an ethernet port to what i assume is their own router. Hope you can help, i know that ISA 2000 is somewhat less easy to use than the newer versions.

  I just switched from Eclipse to NetBeans IDE 6.8 for my PHP/Ajax development. Eclipse always showed a little hard disk symbol over the file icon for files that were in sync with the svn repository, and an asterisk for files with changes that have not been committed. Is there a way to see the commit status in NetBeans? If not, what is your preferred way of recognizing which files to commit?

• supervisord failed to start nagiosapi after reboot, need to run reload manually

  I have supervisord to start nagiosapi everytime the server starts. The API created a status dump file called status.dat, which will get updated periodically. The following is the conf file that starts the api. [program:nagapi] directory = /home/nagapi user = api command = /bin/bash -c "source /home/nagapi/.virtualenvs/nagapi/bin/activate; /home/nagapi/nagios-api/nagios-api" stdout_logfile = /home/nagapi/supervisor_nagios-api_stdout.log stderr_logfile = /home/nagapi/supervisor_nagios-api_stderr.log Everytime i restart the server, supervisord cannot start the api. stderr.log claims that it cannot find the status.dat file located in /var/cache/nagios3. It seems like the files was not created yet when supervisor tried to run the api the first time. I'm saying this because if i do a supervisorctl reload, everything would reload just fine, and the api would run ok about 50 seconds after the reload command completes. should i change the command option of the conf file to check for
