  • How to "scan" a website (or page) for info, and bring it into my program?

    Well, I'm pretty much trying to figure out how to pull information from a webpage, and bring it into my program (in Java). For example, if I know the exact page I want info from, for the sake of simplicity a Best Buy item page, how would I get the appropriate info I need off of that page? Like the title, price, description? What would this process even be called? I have no idea were to even begin researching this.

    Hi There, I am struggling alot with some PHP I am needing to implement a next and previous link, basically I have a search function on my site, that returns multiple results and click on a result navigates to that results page, I want to then be able to click next on that page, and be taken to the next result in the sequence that was returned by the users original search?     Why when you buy a online store system that's advertised as Easy for you to manage and allows to change and tweak the look of store pages with unseen ease is it exactly the opposite? When you're offered six months free support do you never get an answer and finally when you make layout changes to one page, does a completely unrelated business logic completely break down? So really two questions: Why do authors of such systems put them up for sale before they're completed? How to exact revenge on said author? Thanks.

    Hi all, Is there a way to detect the height and width of an iframe, by executing a script from inside the iframe? I need to dynamically position some elements in the iframe according to the different height/width of the iframe. Would there be any difference if there are multiple iframes in the same page? i.e. each iframe wants to find its own dimensions. Javascript or jquery solutions welcomed.   • IE 8 and jquery problem

    I have such div: <div class="box"> <div id="myid" style="display:hidden;"> <p>some stuff here</p></div> </div> when I do $("myid").slideToggle("slow"); , if the content of has bigger height over box, my content overflows from the bottom of the "box" class, weirdly this doesn't happen with other browsers but IE8 How can I fix this issue so that when "myid" starts to display content, height of the .box resizes itself to fit the inner div.

  • How can I achieve a complicated CSS layout?

    I have a page here. There is a contents panel, and a content panel. I would like to center the content, and push the contents panel to the top right corner. This behaviour already works. However, the layout does not work as I would like when the page is shrunk. Ideally, the content would be pushed to the right side of the screen, and a 5px gap maintained between the content and the contents. At present, however, the contents just overlaps the content, which isn't really what I want. Is such a layout possible, without resorting to javascript?

  • Text extra aliased(jagged) in IE - looks terrible - but OK in FF and Chrome

    I am building a website - http://www.efficaxdevelopment.com As you can see when you load the page(in IE) the text on the page that isn't an image or the menu looks terrible, while in FF and Chrome the text looks fine. you can view the source on the page and the css is here http://www.efficaxdevelopment.com/styles/mainstyle.css Also, the sliding bar over the menu appears a few pixels left of where it appears in FF and IE. Any ideas?

    Anyone know why the animation is rough (doesn't really animate) on this bit of jquery? $('.close').click(function() { $('.hidden-content').fadeOut('fast', function (){ $('.serv-button').fadeIn('fast'); }); }); Basically when you click on the close button a ".hidden-content" should fade out and the "serv-button"'s should fade in. But instead they just appear and do no fade.
