  • OpenGLES mix and match blending options complicated question

    - by DevDevDev
So I have a background line drawing, black and white. I want to be able to draw over this, keeping the black lines in there, and drawing only where it is white. I can do this by using glBlendFunc(GL_DST_COLOR, GL_ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA); And the black stays black and white gets whatever color I want. However in the white areas, I want to be able to draw some color, pick to another color and then blend. However this doesn't work because the blend function is messed up. So what I was thinking is having a linedrawing framebuffer, and a user-drawing framebuffer. The user draws into the userdrawing framebuffer, with a different blending, and then I switch blending options and draw into the linedrawing framebuffer. But i don't know enough OpenGL to say whether or not this will work or is a stupid idea. Thanks a lot

  • Handling touches in UITableViewController

    - by subw
I want to implement the handling of an additional swipe gesture in my UITableViewController. However, it seems that in the case of tableviews the usual touch handling methods like -[touchesBegan::] of the controller are not called. How can I handle touches on a UITableView?

  • detecting double free object, release or not release ...

    - by mongeta
Hello, If we have this code in our interface .h file: NSString *fieldNameToStoreModel; NSFetchedResultsController *fetchedResultsController; NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext; DataEntered *dataEntered; In our implementation file .m we must have: - (void)dealloc { [fieldNameToStoreModel release]; [fetchedResultsController release]; [managedObjectContext release]; [dataEntered release]; [super dealloc]; } The 4 objects are assigned from a previous UIViewController, like this: UIViewController *detailViewController; detailViewController = [[CarModelSelectViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStylePlain]; ((CarModelSelectViewController *)detailViewController).dataEntered = self.dataEntered; ((CarModelSelectViewController *)detailViewController).managedObjectContext = self.managedObjectContext; ((CarModelSelectViewController *)detailViewController).fieldNameToStoreModel = self.fieldNameToStoreModel; [self.navigationController pushViewController:detailViewController animated:YES]; [detailViewController release]; The objects that now live in the new UIViewController, are the same as the previous UIViewController, and I can't release them in the new UIViewController ? The problems is that sometimes, my app crashes when I leave the new UIViewController and go to the previous one, not always. Normally the error that I'm getting is a double free object. I've used the malloc_error_break but I'm still not sure wich object is. Sometimes I can go from the previous UIViewController to the next one and come back 4 or 5 times, and the double free object appears. If I don't release any object, all is working and Instruments says that there are no memory leaks ... So, the final question, should I release those objects here or not ? Thanks, m.

  • how to set data into textfeild

    - by shishir.bobby
    hi all i have a table view containing some text. and an selecting a row, i hv to set text on another view's textfeild based on the selected index of row od table view. this is hoe it looks like -(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView accessoryButtonTappedForRowWithIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { abc *abcController = [ [ abcController alloc] initWithNibName:@"abcController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; [self.navigationController abcController animated:YES]; coffeeObj = [appdelegate.coffeeArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; abcController.sender.text =[NSString stringWithFormat:@" to %@", coffeeObj.to]; abcController.mobileNumber.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@" from %@", coffeeObj.from]; [abcController release]; } and this is how my textfeilds looks like, which is in table view if(indexPath.row == 0) textField.keyboardType = UIKeyboardTypeDefault; else textField.keyboardType = UIKeyboardTypePhonePad; textField.autocorrectionType = UITextAutocorrectionTypeNo; [cell.contentView addSubview:textField]; if(indexPath.row == 0) { self.sender = textField; cell.textLabel.text = NSLocalizedString(@"From :", @" "); NSLog(@"sender: %@", self.sender.text); } else { self.mobileNumber = textField; cell.textLabel.text = NSLocalizedString(@"To :" ,@" "); NSLog(@"mobile Number: %@", self.mobileNumber.text); } [textField release]; my problem is i am not abel to set text in these textfeilds from previous view..... plz let me knw where i am wrong..... w8ing for a quick reply.. regards shishir

  • How no make a button show UINavigationBar only in 3 of 5 tabs in UITabBar?

    - by Mike Rychev
I have an app, where there's a UITabBar with 5 tabs. When user shakes the device, I want the UINavigationBar to push an UIImageView. When I show the UIImageView, I need to hide both tab and nav bars. After that, when user taps the UIImageView, the NavBar appears again and user can go to the UIImageView's parent view. I make the Nav Bar appear like this: [[self navigationController] setNavigationBarHidden:NO animated:YES]; But in two tabs I have to make the Nav Bar appear, so user can switch to UIImageView's parentView and then, when the parent view appears, hide the nav bar. How can I do it?

  • [NSFetchedResultsController sections] returns nil?

    - by Chris
Hi Everyone, I am trying to resolve this for days at this stage and I'm hoping you can help. I have two ViewControllers which query two different tables from the same database using Core Data. The first ViewController is opened with the app and displays fine. The second is called from within the first ViewController, using a pretty standard fetch setup: - (NSFetchedResultsController *)fetchedClients { // Set up the fetched results controller if needed. if (fetchedClients == nil) { // Create the fetch request for the entity. NSFetchRequest *fetchRequest = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; // Edit the entity name as appropriate. NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Clients" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; [fetchRequest setEntity:entity]; // Edit the sort key as appropriate. NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"clientsName" ascending:YES]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [fetchRequest setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; // Edit the section name key path and cache name if appropriate. // nil for section name key path means "no sections". NSFetchedResultsController *aFetchedResultsController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetchRequest managedObjectContext:managedObjectContext sectionNameKeyPath:nil cacheName:@"Root"]; aFetchedResultsController.delegate = self; self.fetchedClients = aFetchedResultsController; [aFetchedResultsController release]; [fetchRequest release]; [sortDescriptor release]; [sortDescriptors release]; } return fetchedClients; } When I call [self.fetchedClients sections], I get a nil (0x0) return. I have examined the database using an external application to ensure data exists in the "Clients" table. Can anyone think of a reason why [self.fetchedClients sections] would return nil? Many thanks for any help you can provide. Regards, Chris

  • Why Is Bottom Half of Custom UIActionSheet with UIDatePicker Disabled?

    - by Gorgando
Everything seems to be working great with my UIActionSheet that contains a UIDatePicker except that the bottom half of the DatePicker is disabled. Visually there is a shadow that makes the bottom half of the picker darker than the top half. Everything in the bottom half is disabled and I can't for the life of me figure out how to enable it. I also noticed in my other "normal" UIActionSheets that just contain buttons, the bottom half of the cancel buttons are disabled. This is the code for my custom UIActionSheet: self.datePickerView = [[UIDatePicker alloc] init]; self.datePickerView.datePickerMode = UIDatePickerModeDate; self.actionSheet = [[UIActionSheet alloc] initWithTitle:@"Choose a Follow-up Date" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:nil destructiveButtonTitle:nil otherButtonTitles:@"Done", nil]; [self.actionSheet showInView:self.view]; [self.actionSheet addSubview:self.datePickerView]; [self.actionSheet sendSubviewToBack:self.datePickerView]; [self.actionSheet setBounds:CGRectMake(0,0,320, 500)]; CGRect pickerRect = self.datePickerView.bounds; pickerRect.origin.y = -95; self.datePickerView.bounds = pickerRect; I've tried several things including sendSubviewToBack, BringSubviewToFront, etc but I have not had any luck. I appreciate your help!

  • Referencing Entity from external data model - Core Data

    - by Ben Reeves
I have a external library which includes a core data model, I would like to add a new entity to this model which has a relationship with one of the entities from the library. I know I could modify the original, but is there a way to without needing to pollute the library? I tried just creating a new model with an entity named the same, but that doesn't work: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'Can't merge models with two different entities named 'Host''

  • iOS 5 Audio Alarms Don't Sound Without kAudioSessionProperty_OverrideCategoryMixWithOthers On

    - by coneybeare
I have an audio app that is having some problems with the way iOS 5 has changed audio behaviors. When my app's audio is playing (AVAudioSessionCategoryPlayback), and a Clock.app alarm or timer is fired from the OS, the UIAlertView notification pops up, but without the audio alert. My application sound ducks fine to get out of the way of the audio alert, but the alarm app's audio alert does not sound. Naturally, tons of support requests poured in over the iOS 5 change. I have solved this temporarily by setting kAudioSessionProperty_OverrideCategoryMixWithOthers which lets the alarm audio come through, but there are a few very undesirable side-effects when doing this: Other app's audio can play with/over mine. The remote control events are not routed to my app, but to iPod.app. None of the above drawbacks are acceptable for my app's requirements. I have been hacking away at this for some time now but haven't been able to crack it. How can I setup my audio such that: My app's audio still uses the AVAudioSessionCategoryPlayback category for background audio. The Clock.app alarms still have their audio alerts make sound The app still responds to remote control notifications

  • Why does my UITableView change from UITableViewStyleGrouped to UITableViewStylePlain

    - by casper
My application has a view controller that extends UITableViewController. The initialization method looks like this: - (id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder*)coder { if (self = [super initWithCoder:coder]) { self.tableView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:self.tableView.frame style:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; } return self; } When the view is initially loaded, it's displayed as UITableViewStyleGrouped. However, if my app ever receives a low memory warning, the above view changes to UITableViewStylePlain. There is no associated xib file with the View/Controller. The viewDidUnload and didReceiveMemoryWarning methods are straightforward: - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview. [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Release any cached data, images, etc that aren't in use. } - (void)viewDidUnload { // Release any retained subviews of the main view. // e.g. self.myOutlet = nil; } My question is, why does the table style change when I receive a memory warning?

  • how a view controller know when it is dismissed or poped out of the navigation controller stack?

    - by Thanh-Cong Vo
Hi all, My view controller needs to know when it is poped out of the navigation controller stack, so that it can retain itself, wait and release itself later with another notification. I intend to do like that when the view is sent dealloc message: - (void)dealloc { if (self.isPerformingSomeTask) { self.isPopedOut = YES; [self retain]; return; } [super dealloc]; } But I think this is not a good solution? Any idea?

  • Get a tableview insertRowsAtIndexPaths to accept indexOfObject?

    - by Emil
Hey. I have a code snippet that looks like this: [tableView beginUpdates]; [tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:indexPath] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationLeft]; [tableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:[array indexOfObject:[array objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationLeft]; [tableView endUpdates]; [tableView reloadData]; It gets executed when a user clicks on an accessory. The first part is only there to provide a smooth animation, and does not really matter, as the tableView is reloaded milliseconds later, but as I said, it's there to provide an animation. It is supposed to move a selected object from its current indexPath to the value from an array at the same indexPath. Obviously, this code does not work, so I just want to know what can be done to fix it? PS: I get a warning when compiling, too. The usual "passing argument 1 of 'arrayWithObject:' makes pointer from integer without a cast..." (line 3)

  • NSUserDefaults not saving properly

    - by BWC
Hey Guys I'm having issues with NSUserDefaults and I don't quite understand what's going on My App has 5 levels and each level does the exact same thing with NSUserDefaults (Retrieves the levels defaults, changes the value as the user plays the level and then sets the defaults and syncronizes at the end of the level) the first 4 levels...work without a hitch but the last level doesn't save the values. The app doesn't crash and the last level isn't the very last thing that happens, And I even have the defaults synchronized when the application terminates. Is there a max size on the NSUserDefaults or is there anything anyone can think of that I haven't, I'll post the code below but like I said the first four levels work perfectly //header NSUserDefaults *userData; @property(nonatomic,retain) NSUserDefaults *userData; //class file //Sets the boolean variables for the class to use userData = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; boolOne = [userData boolForKey:@"LevelFiveBoolOne"]; boolTwo = [userData boolForKey:@"LevelFiveBoolTwo"]; boolThree = [userData boolForKey:@"LevelFiveBoolThree"]; boolFour = [userData boolForKey:@"LevelFiveBoolFour"]; boolFive = [userData boolForKey:@"LevelFiveBoolFive"]; boolSix = [userData boolForKey:@"LevelFiveBoolSix"]; boolSeven = [userData boolForKey:@"LevelFiveBoolSeven"]; //End Of Level [userData setBool:boolOne forKey:@"LevelFiveBoolOne"]; [userData setBool:boolTwo forKey:@"LevelFiveBoolTwo"]; [userData setBool:boolThree forKey:@"LevelFiveBoolThree"]; [userData setBool:boolFour forKey:@"LevelFiveBoolFour"]; [userData setBool:boolFive forKey:@"LevelFiveBoolFive"]; [userData setBool:boolSix forKey:@"LevelFiveBoolSix"]; [userData setBool:boolSeven forKey:@"LevelFiveBoolSeven"]; [userData synchronize]; When when I switch to the view that uses these defaults they values are correct but when I terminate the application and restart it, these values aren't saved, every other level does the exact same process this is the only level that doesn't work. I've stared at this for quite awhile and I'm hoping someone out there has run into the same problem and can give me some insight on how they resolved it. Thank you in Advance BWC

  • Passing Variables between views / view controllers

    - by Dan
    Hi I'm new to ObjectiveC / IPhoneSDK and I'm informally trying to study it on my own. What I'm basically trying to do is from one view there are 12 zodiac signs. When a user clicks one, it proceeds to the second view (with animation) and loads the name of the zodiac sign it clicked in a UILabel, that's it. Here are my codes: Lovescopes = 1st page Horoscopes = 2nd page Lovescopes4AppDelegate.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "HoroscopesViewController.h" #import "Lovescopes4AppDelegate.h" @class Lovescopes4ViewController; @interface Lovescopes4AppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { UIWindow *window; Lovescopes4ViewController *viewController; HoroscopesViewController *horoscopesViewController; } -(void)loadHoroscope; -(void)loadMainPage; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet Lovescopes4ViewController *viewController; @property (nonatomic, retain) HoroscopesViewController *horoscopesViewController; @end Lovescopes4AppDelegate.m #import "Lovescopes4AppDelegate.h" #import "Lovescopes4ViewController.h" @implementation Lovescopes4AppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize viewController; @synthesize horoscopesViewController; -(void)loadHoroscope { HoroscopesViewController *aHoroscopeViewController = [[HoroscopesViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"HoroscopesViewController" bundle:nil]; [self setHoroscopesViewController:aHoroscopeViewController]; [aHoroscopeViewController release]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.5]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromLeft forView:window cache:YES]; [viewController.view removeFromSuperview]; [self.window addSubview:[horoscopesViewController view]]; [UIView commitAnimations]; } -(void)loadMainPage { [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.5]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromRight forView:window cache:NO]; [horoscopesViewController.view removeFromSuperview]; [self.window addSubview:[viewController view]]; [UIView commitAnimations]; [horoscopesViewController release]; horoscopesViewController = nil; } - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { // Override point for customization after app launch [window addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } - (void)dealloc { [viewController release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } @end Lovescopes4ViewController.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "HoroscopesViewController.h" @interface Lovescopes4ViewController : UIViewController { HoroscopesViewController *hvc; } -(IBAction)loadAries; @property (nonatomic, retain) HoroscopesViewController *hvc; @end Lovescope4ViewController.m #import "Lovescopes4ViewController.h" #import "Lovescopes4AppDelegate.h" @implementation Lovescopes4ViewController @synthesize hvc; -(IBAction)loadAries { NSString *selected =@"Aries"; [hvc loadZodiac:selected]; Lovescopes4AppDelegate *mainDelegate = (Lovescopes4AppDelegate *) [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [mainDelegate loadHoroscope]; } HoroscopesViewController.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface HoroscopesViewController : UIViewController { IBOutlet UILabel *zodiacLabel; } -(void)loadZodiac:(id)zodiacSign; -(IBAction)back; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UILabel *zodiacLabel; @end HoroscopesViewController.m #import "HoroscopesViewController.h" #import "Lovescopes4AppDelegate.h" @implementation HoroscopesViewController @synthesize zodiacLabel; /* // The designated initializer. • AVAudioPlayer via Speakers

    - by Mark
    I got the following code: - (id)init { if (self = [super init]) { UInt32 sessionCategory = kAudioSessionCategory_MediaPlayback; AudioSessionSetProperty(kAudioSessionProperty_AudioCategory, sizeof(sessionCategory), &sessionCategory); UInt32 audioRouteOverride = kAudioSessionOverrideAudioRoute_Speaker; AudioSessionSetProperty (kAudioSessionProperty_OverrideAudioRoute,sizeof (audioRouteOverride),&audioRouteOverride); [[AVAudioSession sharedInstance] setDelegate:self]; [[AVAudioSession sharedInstance] setCategory:AVAudioSessionCategoryPlayAndRecord error:nil]; [[AVAudioSession sharedInstance] setActive:YES error:nil]; } return self; } But somehow the sound does not want to come out of the speakers, can someone see what I am doing wrong? The code I use for playing is: AVAudioPlayer *player = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:soundFilePathURL error:nil]; [player prepareToPlay]; [player setVolume:1.0]; [player play];

  • UISearchDisplayController - how to display search result with only by scope button selected but empt

    - by billibala
The UISearchDisplayController is very handy and implementing search is pretty straightforward. However, I bump into problem when, in my app, I want to display search result with empty search string but selected scope button. It seems like it's a must to enter some search string in order to get the search result table being initialized and displayed. Is there any ways to display search result immediately after user has picked a scope but not entered search word yet? Thanks Bill

  • How to use NSObject to URLs with three20 properly

    - by Frank
Basically i map my controllers to accept the address class to be passed into the listingpage controller. Which is done here: [map from:@"tt://listingPage/(initWithResult:)" toViewController:[ListingPageController class]]; [map from:[Address class] name:@"result" toURL:@"tt://listingPage/(initWithResult:)"]; This url is being used in my table item which I am has been invoked here: for (Address *result in [(id<SearchResultsModel>)self.model results]) { NSString* url = [result URLValueWithName:@"result"]; TTTableImageItem* tii = [TTTableMessageItem itemWithTitle:[result addressText] caption:[result addressText] text:[result subText] imageURL:[result image] URL:url]; [self.items addObject:tii]; } My app crashes, I am not sure why, seems to be getting an invalidate view. any help would be much appreciated.

  • CCSprite with actions crossing the screen boundaries (copy sprite problem)

    - by iostriz
Let's say we have a CCSprite object that has an actions tied to it: -(void) moveJack { CCSpriteSheet *sheet = (CCSpriteSheet*)[self getChildByTag:kSheet]; CCSprite *jack = (CCSprite*)[sheet getChildByTag:kJack]; ... CCSequence *seq = [CCSequence actions: jump1, [jump1 reverse], jump2, nil]; [jack runAction:seq]; } If the sprite crosses over the screen boundary, I would like to display it at opposite side. So, original sprite is half displayed on the right side (for example), and half on the left side, because it has not fully crossed yet. Obviously (or is it), I need 2 sprites to achieve this. One on the right side (original), and one on the left side (a copy). The problem is - I don't know how to create exact copy of the original sprite, because tied actions have scaling and blending transformations (sprite is a bit distorted). I would like to have something like: CCSprite *copy = [[jack copy] autorelease]; so that I can add a copy to display it on the correct side (and kill it after transition is over). It should have all the actions tied to it... Any ideas?
