• Can't enumerate LinQ results with left join

  I'm trying to write a DSL that allows me to do Policy.name do author "Foo" reviewed_by "Bar" end The following code can almost process it: class Policy include Singleton def self.method_missing(name,&block) puts name puts "#{yield}" end def self.author(name) puts name end def self.reviewed_by(name) puts name end end Defining my method as class methods (self.method_name) i can access it using the following syntax: Policy.name do Policy.author "Foo" Policy.reviewed_by "Bar" end If i remove the "self" from the method names, and try to use my desired syntax, then i receive an error "Method not Found" in the Main so it could not find my function until the module Kernel. Its ok, i understand the error. But how can i fix it? How can i fix my class to make it work with my desired syntax that?

  I am using a service in my android app, which is called when an alarm is activated by a calander. When the service has been activated i want it to be destroyed by the OnStart() method once it has completed its code. • Returning the value of an identity column during/after SQL INSERT command

  Using VS 2010, with ASP.NET, and .NET 3.0, and C#... When I use a System.Web.UI.WebControls.SqlDataSource and call its Insert() method to insert a new row, and that table has an identity column, I'd like my method to return the value of that column. For example, in my SQL 2005 table, I've got: Customer.Id Customer.FirstName Customer.LastName Where Customer.Id is an identity colum. When I call my method InsertNewCustomerRecord( "John", "Smith" ), I'd like to be able to return the Customer.Id that gets automatically generated in the database. • KERN-EXEC 3 when navigating within a text box (Symbian OS Browser Control)

  I've had nothing but grief using Symbian's browser control on S60 3rd edition FP1. We currently display pages and many things are working smoothly. However, when inputting text into an HTML text field, the user will get a KERN-EXEC 3 if they move left at the beginning of the text input area (which should "wrap" it to the end) or if they move right at the end of the text input area (which should "wrap" it to the beginning). I can't seem to trap the input in OfferKeyEventL. I get the key event, I return EKeyWasConsumed and the cursor still moves.   I am trying to make a C extension for Ruby that includes a method returning a string, which will sometimes have character values that need to be in an unsigned char. In http://github.com/shyouhei/ruby/blob/trunk/README.EXT, all of the functions listed for turning C strings into Ruby strings take signed chars. So I couldn't do this: unsigned char bytes[] = {0xf0, 0xf1, 0xf2}; return rb_str_new(bytes, 3); How could I make a method that returns these types of strings? In other words, how would I make a C extension with a method returning "\xff"?

  Hi there, I posted a question yesterday, which I intend to get back to today however I wrote some JavaScript as a first line of prevention against XSS. However when testing this on my live server I catch some invalid input as the javascript catches the php section. My form uses post and php isn't in my form items (i haven't typed it in). Could this be picking up the form action or something? But when I do this. The labels will be visible even if I did not yet click on the button that will make it visible(but without the checkboxes). And when I click on that button, that's the only time when the checkbox will appear on the left side of the labels. The checkbox is ok, but the label is not. And the javascript is working properly. What do I do so that the checkbox and label will go together?

How can I correct this problem? logged is a variable which helps determine whether the user is logged in or not. When the user is logged in $_SESSION['logged'] is set, otherwise unset. I want the default value of $_SESSION['logged'] to be unset prior to the execution of the script. How can I solve this problem?

• POST xml to php with apache2

  I'm working on an application that receives XML data via POST, processes it with a PHP script, and returns an XML response. I'm getting the XML with this PHP code: $requestStr = file_get_contents('php://input'); $requests = simplexml_load_string($requestStr); which works fine on the Linux-based product hardware using nginx as the server. However, for testing I'd like to be able to run it on my MacBook Pro, so I can avoid the "build image, install on product, reboot product, wait, test change" loop while I do targeted development on this XML processor. I enabled "web sharing" which starts up Apache, added a rewrite rule to point a convenient URI at my development source directory and used curl to send a request to my PHP script thus: curl -H "Content-Type:text/xml" -d @request.xml http://localhost/test/path/testscript "testscript" is handled by the PHP script fine, but when it goes to read "php:://input" I get nothing -- the empty string. Anyone have a clue why this would work under Linux with nginx and not under MacOS with Apache? I've googled and searched stackoverlow.com to no avail. Thanks for any answers. UPDATE: I've discovered that at least in this configuration, reading from php://stdin will work fine, while php://input will not. Who knew?

• Update image in ASP.NET page from memory without refreshing the page.

  I have a command line C# server and an ASP.NET client, they both communicate via .NET Remoting. The server is sending the client still images grabbed from a webcam at say 2 frames a second. I can pass the images down to the client via a remote method call and the image ends up in this client method: public void Update(System.Drawing.Image currentFrame) { // I need to display the currentFrame on my page. } How do i display the image on the a page without saving the image to the hard disc? If it was a winForms app i could pass currentFrame to a picturebox ie. picturebox.Image = currentFrame. The above Update method gets fired at least 2 times a second. If the client was a winForms app i could simply put picturebox.Image = currentFrame and the current frame on the screen would automatically get updated. How do i achieve the same effect with ASP.NET? Will the whole page need to be reloaded etc?

• Check if there are any repeated elements in a array recursively

  I have to find recursively if there is any repeated element in an integer array v. The method must have the following signature: boolean hasRepeatedElements(int[] v) I can't see any way of doing that recursively without having to define another method or at least another overload to this method (one that takes for example the element to go after or something). At first I thought about checking for the current v if there is some element equal to the first element, then creating a new array with L-1 elements etc but that seems rather inefficient. Is it the only way? Am I missing here something?

  Hi, memory management still gives me grief. This time it is an NSDate iVar that I init using NSDate *myNSDate = [[NSDate date] firstDayOfMonth]; with a method call to - (NSDate *)firstDayOfMonth { NSDateComponents *tmpDateComponents = [[NSCalendar currentCalendar] components:NSYearCalendarUnit | NSMonthCalendarUnit | NSEraCalendarUnit | NSWeekCalendarUnit | NSWeekdayOrdinalCalendarUnit fromDate:self]; [tmpDateComponents setDay:1]; [tmpDateComponents setHour:0]; [tmpDateComponents setMinute:0]; [tmpDateComponents setSecond:0]; return [[NSCalendar currentCalendar] dateFromComponents:tmpDateComponents]; } At the end of the init call the retain count is at 1 (Note the iVar is not defined as a property). When I step into the viewWillAppear method the myNSDate has vanished. I tried to do an explicit retain on it, but that only lasts until I update the iVar using the above method again. I though - ok - I add the retain to the return of the function, but that makes the leak analyser throw up an error. What am I doing wrong?

  I want to do a riddle AI chatbot for my AI class. So i figgured the input to the chatbot would be : Something like : "It is blue, and it is up, but it is not the ceiling" Translation : <Object X> <blue> <up> <!ceiling> </Object X> (Answer : sky?) So Input is a set of characteristics (existing \ not existing in the object), output is a matched, most likely object. The domain will be limited to a number of objects, i could input all attributes myself, but i was thinking : How could I programatically build a database of characteristics for a word? Is there such a database available? How could i tag a word, how could i programatically find all it's attributes? I was thinking on crawling wikipedia, or some forum, but i can't see it build any reliable word tag database. Any ideas on how i could achieve such a thing? Any ideas on some literature on the subject? Thank you

I think the problem is that I am not sure how to instantiate the receiver in order to produce a working method for the controller.
