  • Panel not displaying while dowloading file

    - by James123
I wrote download excel file in my code. If I click download button I need show ajax-load image (pnlPopup panel). But it is not displaying. I think because of Some "Response" statements (see below code). Download working fine, but simultaniously I want show loader panel too. <asp:Panel ID="pnlPopup" runat="server" visible="false"> <div align="center" style="margin-top: 13px;"> <asp:Image runat ="server" ID="imgDownload" src="Images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="" /> <br /> <span class="updateProgressMessage">downloading ...</span> </div> Protected Sub btnDownload_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) 'Handles btnDownload.Click' Try pnlPopup.Visible = True Dim mSurvey As New Survey Dim mUser As New User Dim dtExcel As DataTable mUser = CType(Session("user"), User) dtExcel = mSurvey.CreateExcelWorkbook(mUser.UserID, mUser.Client.ID) Dim filename As String = "Download.xls" InitializeWorkbook() GenerateData(dtExcel) Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", String.Format("attachment;filename={0}", filename)) Response.Clear() Response.BinaryWrite(WriteToStream.GetBuffer) Response.End() Catch ex As Exception Finally End Try End Sub

  • When using Clipboard, Toolkit and Transferable, I get an error objecting to image width and height

    - by Mike King
When I run the following code it triggers an error message. The error message is shown below the code. What code changes, or changes to the image file, are needed to fix this error? Help will be appreciated. import java.awt.*; import java.awt.datatransfer.*; public class LoadToClipboard { public static void main( String [] args ) { Toolkit tolkit = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit(); Clipboard clip = tolkit.getSystemClipboard(); clip.setContents( new ImageSelection( tolkit.getImage("StackOverflowLogo.png")) , null ); } } class ImageSelection implements Transferable { private Image image; public ImageSelection(Image image) { this.image = image; } // Returns supported flavors public DataFlavor[] getTransferDataFlavors() { return new DataFlavor[]{DataFlavor.imageFlavor}; } // Returns true if flavor is supported public boolean isDataFlavorSupported(DataFlavor flavor) { return DataFlavor.imageFlavor.equals(flavor); } // Returns image public Object getTransferData(DataFlavor flavor) throws UnsupportedFlavorException { if (!DataFlavor.imageFlavor.equals(flavor)) { throw new UnsupportedFlavorException(flavor); } return image; } } Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Width (-1) and height (-1) cannot be <= 0 at java.awt.image.DirectColorModel.createCompatibleWritableRaster(DirectColorModel.java:999) at sun.awt.datatransfer.DataTransferer.imageToStandardBytes(DataTransferer.java:1994) at sun.awt.windows.WDataTransferer.imageToPlatformBytes(WDataTransferer.java:267) at sun.awt.datatransfer.DataTransferer.translateTransferable(DataTransferer.java:1123) at sun.awt.windows.WDataTransferer.translateTransferable(WDataTransferer.java:163) at sun.awt.windows.WClipboard.setContentsNative(WClipboard.java:73) at sun.awt.datatransfer.SunClipboard.setContents(SunClipboard.java:93) at automateSignature.LoadToClipboard.main(LoadToClipboard.java:8) I have tried to find a place in the code where width and height can be specified, but have not succeeded. I also examined the properties of the jpg file and the w and h are specified.enter code here

  • Servlet Mapping Help - Possible to Avoid Referencing Context Name?

    - by AJ
Hi all, I am working on a Spring application and trying to get my URL mapping correct. What I would like to have work is the following: http://localhost:8080/idptest -> doesn't work But instead, I have to reference the context name in my URL in order to resolve the mapping: http://localhost:8080/<context_name>/idptest -> works How can I avoid the requirement of referencing the context name in my URL without using a rewrite/proxy engine e.g. Apache? Here is the servlet definition and mapping from my web.xml: <servlet> <servlet-name>idptest</servlet-name> <servlet-class>org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet</servlet-class> <init-param> <param-name>contextConfigLocation</param-name> <param-value>/WEB-INF/conf/idptest.xml</param-value> </init-param> <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>idptest</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> Here's the outline of my controller (showing annotations for request mappings): @Controller @RequestMapping("/idptest") public class MyController { @RequestMapping(method=RequestMethod.GET) public String setupForm(Model model){ MyObject someObject = new MyObject(); model.addAttribute("someObject", someObject); return "myform"; } @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.POST) public String processSubmit(@ModelAttribute("someObject") MyObject someObject) throws Exception { // POST logic... } } Thanks!

  • NoClassDefFoundError without any class name

    - by Safder
Hello, I am trying to run a java task from ant. I am trying to run the "org.apache.tools.ant.launch.Launcher" class. I keep on getting the "NoClassDefFoundError" without any class name being specified. I am also getting a "ClassNotFoundException" along with that displaying a message "Could not find the main class: . Program will exit". Here's a snippet of the error [java] Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: [java] Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: [java] at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200) [java] at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) [java] at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:188) [java] at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:307) [java] at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301) [java] at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:252) [java] at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:320) [java] Could not find the main class: . I checked the ant jar to check the Manifest and the "main" class is specified properly (it's "org.apache.tools.ant.launch.Launcher") . I have exhausted all my resources. Please help ! ! ! ps: My environment is Eclipse on Ubuntu 9.04

  • why DataColumn AllowDbNull is true even if oracle db does not allow null

    - by matti
Hi. I have column SomeId in table SomeLink. When I look with tOra or Sql Plus Worksheet both state: tOra: Column name Data type Default Null Comment SOMEID INTEGER {null} NOT NULL {null} Sql Plus: SOMEID NOT NULL NUMBER(38) I have authored a method that's intended to give default values to all NOT NULL fields that don't have values: public static void GetDefaultValuesForNonNullColumns(DataRow row) { foreach(DataColumn col in row.Table.Columns) { if (Convert.IsDBNull(row[col]) && !col.AllowDBNull) { if (ColumnIsNumeric(col.DataType)) row[col] = 0; else if (col.DataType == typeof(DateTime)) row[col] = DateTime. Now; else if (col.DataType == typeof(String)) row[col] = string.Empty; else if (col.DataType == typeof(Char)) row[col] = ' '; else throw new Exception(string.Format("Unsupported column type: {0}", col.DataType)); } } } When SOMEID is handled in loop the AllowDBNull = true. I really can't understand. The table is created in DataSet like this: _someLinkAdptr = _dbFactory.CreateDataAdapter(); _someLinkAdptr.SelectCommand = _dbFactory.CreateCommand(); _someLinkAdptr.SelectCommand.Connection = _cnctn; _someLinkAdptr.SelectCommand.CommandText = GetSomeLinkSelectTxtAndParams(_someLinkAdptr.SelectCommand, UndefinedValue.ToString(), UndefinedValue.ToString()); Select command returns no rows. The idea is that I can then use commandbuilder to get InsertCommand without building it myself. The row is added to dataset's table like this: private static void CreateDocLink(int anId, int anotherId) { DataRow row = _someDataSet.Tables["SomeLink"].NewRow(); row["AnId"] = anId; row["AnotherId"] = anotherId; Utility.GetDefaultValuesForNonNullColumns(row); _someDataSet.Tables["SomeLink"].Rows.Add(row); } When DataAdapter is updated to oracle db I get: ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into (SOMESCHEMA.SOMELINK.SOMEID) Cheers & BR -Matti

  • Cannot write to SD card -- canWrite is returning false

    - by Fizz
Sorry for the ambiguous title but I'm doing the following to write a simple string to a file: try { File root = Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(); if (root.canWrite()){ System.out.println("Can write."); File def_file = new File(root, "default.txt"); FileWriter fw = new FileWriter(def_file); BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(fw); String defbuf = "default"; out.write(defbuf); out.flush(); out.close(); } else System.out.println("Can't write."); }catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } But root.canWrite() seems to be returning false everytime. I am not running this off of an emulator, I have my android Eris plugged into my computer via USB and running the app off of my phone via Eclipse. Is there a way of giving my app permission so this doesn't happen? Also, this code seems to be create the file default.txt but what if it already exists, will it ignore the creation and just open it to write or do I have to catch something like FileAlreadyExists(if such an exception exists) which then just opens it and writes? Thanks for any help guys.

  • FindControl() from UserControl inside a for loop

    - by Kyle
I'm creating a usercontrol that will have a series of LinkButtons. I've declared all of my link buttons at the top of my class LinkButton LB1 = new LinkButton(); LinkButton LB2 = new LinkButton(); //... LinkButton LB9 = new LinkButton(); now I'd like to be able to create a loop to access all of those link buttons so I don't have to write them all out every time. I tried something like this within my overridden CreateChildControls() method: for (int i = 1; i < 10; i++) { LinkButton lb = (LinkButton)FindControl("LB" + i.ToString()); lb.Text = i.ToString() + "-Button"; } I keep getting an exception saying that lb.Text... is not set to an instance of an object. I also tried giving all of my LB1, LB2 etc valid Ids. ie: LB1.ID = "LB1"; still not dice. how can I do this?

  • Close TCP connection when owner process is already killed

    - by Otiel
I have a Windows service that - when it starts - opens some WCF services to listen on the 8000 port. It happens that this service crashes sometimes. When it does, the TCP connection is not released, thus causing my service to throw an exception if I try to start it again: AddressAlreadyInUseException: There is already a listener on IP endpoint 0.0.0.0:8000 Some observations: When running CurrPorts or netstat -ano, I can see that the 8000 port is still in use (in LISTENING state) and is owned by the Process ID XXX that corresponded to my service process ID. But my service has already crashed, and does not appear in the Task Manager anymore. Thus I can't kill the process to free the port! Of course, running taskkill /PID XXX returns: ERROR: The process "XXX" not found. When running CurrPorts or netstat -b, I can see that the process name involved in creating the listening port is System, and not as MyService.exe (whereas it is MyService.exe when my service is running). I tried to use CurrPorts to close the connection, but I always get the following error message: Failed to close one or more TCP connections. Be aware that you must run this tool as admin in order to close TCP connections. (Useless to say, I do run CurrPorts as Administrator...) TCPView is not much help either: the process name associated to the 8000 port is <non-existent>, and doing "End process" or "Close connection" has no effect. I tried to see if there was not a child process associated with the PID XXX using Process Explorer, but no luck here. If I close my service properly (before it crashes), the TCP connection is correctly released. This is normal, as I close the WCF service hosts in the OnStop() event of my service. The only way I found to release the connection is to restart the server (which is not convenient in a production environment as you can guess). Waiting does not help, the TCP connection is never released. How can I close the connection without restarting the Windows server? PS: found some questions extremely similar to mine.

  • Can someone please debug this Windows Azure Application?

    - by Vimvq1987
Here's the myTODO project from codeplex: myTODO project I added any necessary libraries, added storage, changed obsolete types/methods, but everything went wrong when I debug it. An exception was thrown here (in TableStorage.cs): public IEnumerable<TElement> ExecuteWithRetries(RetryPolicy retry) { IEnumerable<TElement> ret = null; if (retry == null) { throw new ArgumentNullException("retry"); } retry(() => { try { ret = _query.Execute(); } catch (InvalidOperationException e) { if (TableStorageHelpers.CanBeRetried(e)) { throw new TableRetryWrapperException(e); } throw; } }); return ret; } I'm using Visual Studio 2008, SQL server 2008, Windows Azure SDK v1.1. Can anyone please debug this project for me, or suggest me someway to get it working. This request is urgent. Any helps are much appreciated. PS: If you can't download these file, please let me know, I'll upload to another hosts.

  • using compareTo in Binary Search Tree program

    - by Scott Rogener
I've been working on this program for a few days now and I've implemented a few of the primary methods in my BinarySearchTree class such as insert and delete. Insert seemed to be working fine, but once I try to delete I kept getting errors. So after playing around with the code I wanted to test my compareTo methods. I created two new nodes and tried to compare them and I get this error: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassCastException: TreeNode cannot be cast to java.lang.Integer at java.lang.Integer.compareTo(Unknown Source) at TreeNode.compareTo(TreeNode.java:16) at BinarySearchTree.myComparision(BinarySearchTree.java:177) at main.main(main.java:14) Here is my class for creating the nodes: public class TreeNode<T> implements Comparable { protected TreeNode<T> left, right; protected Object element; public TreeNode(Object obj) { element=obj; left=null; right=null; } public int compareTo(Object node) { return ((Comparable) this.element).compareTo(node); } } Am I doing the compareTo method all wrong? I would like to create trees that can handle integers and strings (seperatly of course)

  • Delphi Client-Server Application using Firebird 2.5 embedded connection error

    - by Japster
0 down vote favorite 1 share [fb] share [tw] I have got a lengthy question to ask. First of all Im still very new when it comes to Delphi programming and my experience has beem mostly developing small single user database applications using ADO and an Access database. I need to take the transition now to a client server application and this is where the problem starts. I decided to use Firebird 2.5 embeded as my database, as it is open source, and it is can be used with the interbase components in Delphi and that multiple clients can access the database simultanously. So I followed the interbase tutorial in Delphi. I managed to connect the client to the server and see the data in the example (While both are running on my pc), but when i tried to move the client to another pc, keeping the server on mine and running it to see if I can connect to the server it gave me the following error. Exception EIdSocketError in module clientDemo.exe at 0029DCAC. Socket Error # 10061 Connection refused. I understand that this might be because the host is defined as localhost in the client. But here is my first question. In the TSQLConncetion you can set die hostname under Driver-Hostname. The thing I want to know is how do you do this at run time, as I cannot get the property when I try and make an edit box to allow the user to enter the value and then set it via code like for example: SQLConncetion1.Driver.Hostname := edtHost.text; This cannot be done this way and the only way I see you can set the hostname is with the object inspector, but that is not available at runtime and I need to set the hostname on the client when the program is running the first time, so how do you set the hostname/IP address at runtime? Im using Delphi XE2 There is still a lot of questions to come especially when it comes to deployment, but I will take this piece by piece and I appreciate the advice.

  • With NHibernate and Transaction do I rollback on commit failure or does it auto rollback on single c

    - by mattcodes
I've built the following Dispose method for my Unit Of Work which essentially wraps the active NH session & transaction (transaction set as variable after opening session as to not be replaced if NH session gets new transaction after error) public void Dispose() { Func<ITransaction, bool> transactionStateOkayFunc = trans => trans != null && trans.IsActive && !trans.WasRolledBack; try { if(transactionStateOkayFunc(this.transaction)) { if (HasErrored) { transaction.Rollback(); } else { try { transaction.Commit(); } catch (Exception) { if(transactionStateOkayFunc(transaction)) transaction.Rollback(); throw; } } } } finally { if(transaction != null) transaction.Dispose(); if(session.IsOpen) session.Close(); } I can't help feeling that code is a little bloated, will a transaction automatically rollback is a discrete Commit fails in the case of non-nested transactions? Will Commit or Rollback automatically Dipose the transaction? If not will Session.Close() automatically dispose the associated transaction?

  • How to play extracted wave file byte array in C#?

    - by user261924
At the moment i have managed to separate the left and right channel of a WAVE file and have included the header in a byte[] array. My next step is to be about to play both channels. How can this be done? Here is a code snippet: byte[] song_left = new byte[fa.Length]; byte[] song_right = new byte[fa.Length]; int p = 0; for (int c = 0; c < 43; c++) { song_left[p] = header[c]; p++; } int q = 0; for (s = startByte; s < length; s = s + 3) { song_left[s] = sLeft[q]; q++; s++; song_left[s] = sLeft[q]; q++; } p = 0; for (int c = 0; c < 43; c++) { song_right[p] = header[c]; p++; } This part is reading the header and data from both the right and light channel and saving it to array sLeft[] and sRight[]. This part is working perfectly. Once I obtained the byte arrays, I did the following: System.IO.File.WriteAllBytes("c:\\left.wav", song_left); System.IO.File.WriteAllBytes("c:\\right.wav", song_right); Added a button to play the saved wave file: private void button2_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { spWave = new SoundPlayer("c:\\left.wav"); spWave.Play(); } Once I hit the play button, this error appers: An unhandled exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException' occurred in System.dll Additional information: The wave header is corrupt. Any ideas?

  • JUnit: checking if a void method gets called

    - by nkr1pt
    I have a very simple filewatcher class which checks every 2 seconds if a file has changed and if so, the onChange method (void) is called. Is there an easy way to check ik the onChange method is getting called in a unit test? code: public class PropertyFileWatcher extends TimerTask { private long timeStamp; private File file; public PropertyFileWatcher(File file) { this.file = file; this.timeStamp = file.lastModified(); } public final void run() { long timeStamp = file.lastModified(); if (this.timeStamp != timeStamp) { this.timeStamp = timeStamp; onChange(file); } } protected void onChange(File file) { System.out.println("Property file has changed"); } } @Test public void testPropertyFileWatcher() throws Exception { File file = new File("testfile"); file.createNewFile(); PropertyFileWatcher propertyFileWatcher = new PropertyFileWatcher(file); Timer timer = new Timer(); timer.schedule(propertyFileWatcher, 2000); FileWriter fw = new FileWriter(file); fw.write("blah"); fw.close(); Thread.sleep(8000); // check if propertyFileWatcher.onChange was called file.delete(); }

  • Android, how to use DexClassLoader to dynamically replace an Activity or Service

    - by RickNotFred
I am trying to do something similar to this stackoverflow posting. What I want to do is to read the definition of an activity or service from the SD card. To avoid manifest permission issues, I create a shell version of this activity in the .apk, but try to replace it with an activity of the same name residing on the SD card at run time. Unfortunately, I am able to load the activity class definition from the SD card using DexClassLoader, but the original class definition is the one that is executed. Is there a way to specify that the new class definition replaces the old one, or any suggestions on avoiding the manifest permission issues without actually providing the needed activity in the package? The code sample: ClassLoader cl = new DexClassLoader("/sdcard/mypath/My.apk", getFilesDir().getAbsolutePath(), null, MainActivity.class.getClassLoader()); try { Class<?> c = cl.loadClass("com.android.my.path.to.a.loaded.activity"); Intent i = new Intent(getBaseContext(), c); startActivity(i); } catch (Exception e) { Intead of launching the com.android.my.path.to.a.loaded.activity specified in /sdcard/mypath/My.apk, it launches the activity statically loaded into the project.

  • Please take a stab at this VB.Net Oracle-related sample and help me with String.Format.

    - by Hamish Grubijan
If the database is not Oracle, it is MS SQl 2008. My task: if Oracle, add two more parameters when calling a stored proc. Oracle and MSFT stored procs are generated; Oracle ones have 3 extra parameters: Vret_val out number, Vparam2 in out number, Vparam3 in out number, ... the rest (The are not actually named Vparam2 and Vparam3, but this should not matter). So, the code for a helper VB.Net class that calls a stored proc: Imports System.Data.Odbc Imports System.Configuration Dim objCon As OdbcConnection = Nothing Dim objAdapter As OdbcDataAdapter Dim cmdCommand As New OdbcCommand Dim objDataTable As DataTable Dim sconnection As String Try sconnection = mConnectionString objAdapter = New OdbcDataAdapter objCon = New OdbcConnection(sconnection) objCon.Open() objAdapter.SelectCommand = cmdCommand objAdapter.SelectCommand.Connection = objCon objAdapter.SelectCommand.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure objAdapter.SelectCommand.CommandTimeout = Globals.mReportTimeOut If Not mIsOracle Then objAdapter.SelectCommand.CommandText = String.Format("{{call {0}}}", spName) Else Dim returnValue As New OdbcParameter returnValue.Direction = ParameterDirection.Output returnValue.ParameterName = "@Vret_val" returnValue.OdbcType = OdbcType.Numeric objAdapter.SelectCommand.Parameters.Add(returnValue) objAdapter.SelectCommand.CommandText = String.Format("{{call {0}(?)}}", spName) End If Try objDataTable = New DataTable(spName) objAdapter.Fill(objDataTable) Catch ex As Exception ... Question: I am puzzled as to what String.Format("{{call {0}(?)}}", spName) does, in particular the (?) part. My understanding of the String.Format is that it will simply replace {0} with spName. The {{, }}, and (?) do throw me off because { reminds me of formatting, (?) hints at some advanced regex use. Unfortunately I am getting little help from a key person who is on vacation without a leash [smart]phone. I am guessing that I simply add 5 more lines for each additional parameter, and change String.Format("{{call {0}(?)}}", spName) to String.Format("{{call {0}(?,?,?)}}", spName). I forgot to mention that I am coding this "blindly" - I have a compiler to help me, but no environment set up to test this. This will be over in a few days, but I need to do my best to try finishing it on time :) Thanks.

  • Timer Service in ejb 3.1 - schedule calling timeout problem

    - by Greg
Hi Guys, I have created simple example with @Singleton, @Schedule and @Timeout annotations to try if they would solve my problem. The scenario is this: EJB calls 'check' function every 5 secconds, and if certain conditions are met it will create single action timer that would invoke some long running process in asynchronous fashion. (it's sort of queue implementation type of thing). It then continues to check, but as long as long running process is there it won't start another one. Below is the code I came up with, but this solution does not work, because it looks like asynchronous call I'm making is in fact blocking my @Schedule method. @Singleton @Startup public class GenerationQueue { private Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(GenerationQueue.class.getName()); private List<String> queue = new ArrayList<String>(); private boolean available = true; @Resource TimerService timerService; @Schedule(persistent=true, minute="*", second="*/5", hour="*") public void checkQueueState() { logger.log(Level.INFO,"Queue state check: "+available+" size: "+queue.size()+", "+new Date()); if (available) { timerService.createSingleActionTimer(new Date(), new TimerConfig(null, false)); } } @Timeout private void generateReport(Timer timer) { logger.info("!!--timeout invoked here "+new Date()); available = false; try { Thread.sleep(1000*60*2); // something that lasts for a bit } catch (Exception e) {} available = true; logger.info("New report generation complete"); } What am I missing here or should I try different aproach? Any ideas most welcome :) Testing with Glassfish 3.0.1 latest build - forgot to mention

  • Dataset bind to Gridview within WCF REST retrieval method and Linq to Sql

    - by user643794
I used a WCF REST template to build a WCF service library to create PUT and GET calls. PUT method works fine sending my blob to a database. On the GET, I want to be able to access the web service directly and display the results from a stored procedure as a dataset and bind this to a gridview. The stored procedure is a simple select statement, returning three of the four columns from the table. I have the following: [WebGet(UriTemplate = "/?name={name}", ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Xml)] public List<Object> GetCollection(string name) { try { db.OpenDbConnection(); // Call to SQL stored procedure return db.GetCustFromName(name); } catch (Exception e) { Log.Error("Stored Proc execution failed. ", e); } finally { db.CloseDbConnection(); } return null; } I also added Linq to SQL class to include my database table and stored procedures access. I also created the Default.aspx file in addition to the other required files. protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { ServiceDataContext objectContext = new ServiceDataContext(); var source = objectContext.GetCustFromName("Tiger"); Menu1.DataSource = source; Menu1.DataBind(); } But this gives me The entity type '' does not belong to any registered model. Where should the data binding be done? What should be the return type for GetCollection()? I am stuck with this. Please provide help on how to do this.

  • xsd.exe creating invalid constraints in dataset from xsd file

    - by Dan Neely
I have a sequence with an allowed minimum length of zero in my xsd. When I try and load an xml file which doesn't have any elements of the sequence into the DataSet that xsd.exe created I get an exception indicating that my file violated one of the DataSet's constraints. The xml file validates against the schema so I know it's valid. Is there anything I can do to make the tool generate a valid dataset? <xs:sequence minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"> <xs:element name="Numbers" type="xs:double"/> </xs:sequence> Edit: if I change my schema to this the generated code works properly. It looks wrong to me though since it appears to be implying that I could have sequence items with nothing in them, which doesn't make any sense. <xs:sequence minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"> <xs:element name="Numbers" type="xs:double" minOccurs="0"/> </xs:sequence>

  • ASP.NET, C#: timeout when trying to Transaction.Commit() to database; potential deadlock?

    - by user1843921
I have a web page that has coding structured somewhat as follows: SqlConnection conX =new SqlConnection(blablabla); conX.Open(); SqlTransaction tran=conX.BeginTransaction(); try{ SqlCommand cmdInsert =new SqlCommand("INSERT INTO Table1(ColX,ColY) VALUES @x,@y",conX); cmdInsert.Transaction=tran; cmdInsert.ExecuteNonQuery(); SqlCommand cmdSelect=new SqlCOmmand("SELECT * FROM Table1",conX); cmdSelect.Transaction=tran; SqlDataReader dtr=cmdSelect.ExecuteReader(); //read stuff from dtr dtr.Close(); cmdInsert=new SqlCommand("UPDATE Table2 set ColA=@a",conX); cmdInsert.Transaction=tran; cmdInsert.ExecuteNonQuery(); //display MiscMessage tran.Commit(); //display SuccessMessage } catch(Exception x) { tran.Rollback(); //display x.Message } finally { conX.Close(); } So, everything seems to work until MiscMessage. Then, after a while (maybe 15-ish seconds?) x.Message pops up, saying that: "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding." So something wrong with my trans.Commit()? The database is not updated so I assume the trans.Rollback works... I have read that deadlocks can cause timeouts...is this problem cause by my SELECT statement selecting from Table1, which is being used by the first INSERT statement? If so, what should I do? If that ain't the problem, what is?

  • Should a connect method return a value?

    - by Matt S
I was looking at some code I've inherited and I couldn't decided if I like a bit of code. Basically, there is a method that looks like the following: bool Connect(connection parameters){...} It returns true if it connects successfully, false otherwise. I've written code like that in the past, but now, when I see this method I don't like it for a number of reasons. Its easy to write code that just ignores the returned value, or not realize it returns a value. There is no way to return an error message. Checking the return of the method doesn't really look nice: if (!Connect(...)){....} I could rewrite code to throw an exception when it doesn't successfully connect, but I don't consider that an exceptional situation. Instead I'm thinking of refactoring the code as follows: void Connect(Connection Parameters, out bool successful, out string errorMessage){...} I like that other developers have to provide the success and error strings so they know the method has error conditions and I can know return a message Anyone have any thoughts on the matter? Thanks -Matt

  • how to pause and stop a changing ImageView

    - by user270811
hi, i have an ImageView in which the picture switches every 5s, i am trying to add a pause and resume button that can stop and restart the action. i am using a Handler, Runnable, and postDelay() for image switch, and i put the code on onResume. i am thinking about using wait and notify for the pause and resume, but that would mean creating an extra thread. so far for the thread, i have this: class RecipeDisplayThread extends Thread { boolean pleaseWait = false; // This method is called when the thread runs public void run() { while (true) { // Do work // Check if should wait synchronized (this) { while (pleaseWait) { try { wait(); } catch (Exception e) { } } } // Do work } } } and in the main activity's onCreate(): Button pauseButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.pause); pauseButton.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View view) { while (true) { synchronized (thread) { thread.pleaseWait = true; } } } }); Button resumeButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.resume); resumeButton.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View view) { while (true) { // Resume the thread synchronized (thread) { thread.pleaseWait = false; thread.notify(); } } } }); the pause button seems to work, but then after that i can't press any other button, such as the resume button. thanks.
