• How does the gcc option -fstack-check exactly work?

  My program crashed when I added the option -fstack-check and -fstack-protector. __stack_chk_fail is called in the back trace. So how could I know where the problem is ? What does -fstack-check really check ? The information about gcc seems too huge to find out the answer.

The fact that you can customize a structure for in various ways definitely got me interested, particularly with variations of add() & iterator.remove() methods. But is reimplementing and customizing a data structure something that is of more interest to the academics vs the real-world programmers? Has anyone reimplemented their own version of a data structure in a commercial application/program, and why did you pick that route over your particular language's implementation?

I have gone over this so many times but are totally stuck of finding a solution. EDIT: The errors is the ouput while compiling with gcc if I didn't make that clear.
