  • Code generating SOAP Web Service Proxy objects yourself - C#/.NET 3.5/T4

    - by tyndall
Is there a framework or code already available that will give me more control over the code that gets generated based off my web references? I'm working at a new company. And the Web Services Proxies are all self contained in their own assembly. I would really rather generate this whole project. Every time they change something on the Services-side (Java) the WSDL references have to be dropped and re-added. (I can't figure out what those guys are doing on their end that messes with the WSDL bad enough that this needs to be done so much) Their are 10 of these references. I'd rather codegen the whole thing at compile time. Every time. What are my options?

  • ASP.NET: "Object Required" when repeating LinkButtons in an UpdatePanel

    - by MStodd
    I have an UpdatePanel which has a Repeater repeating LinkButtons. When I click a LinkButton, the page does a partial postback, then I get a javascript error: "Object required". I tried debugging the javascript, but couldn't get a call stack. If I remove the UpdatePanel, the LinkButtons do a full postback, and they disappear from the page. How can I get this UpdatePanel to work? <ajax:UpdatePanel ID="wrapperUpdatePanel" runat="server" UpdateMode="Always"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:Repeater ID="endpointRepeater" runat="server" OnItemDataBound="EndpointDataBound"> <HeaderTemplate> <div class="sideTabs"> <ul> </HeaderTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <li> <asp:LinkButton ID="endpointLink" runat="server" OnClick="EndpointSelected" /> </li> </ItemTemplate> <FooterTemplate> </ul> </div> </FooterTemplate> </asp:Repeater> </ContentTemplate> </ajax:UpdatePanel> binding code: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!this.IsPostBack) { this.SelectedEndpoint = Factory.Get<IEndpoint>(Enums.EndPoints.Marketing); } IEndpointCollection col = EndpointCollection.GetActivelySubscribingEndpointsForPart(this.Item); if (this.Item.IsGdsnItem) col.Add(Factory.Get<IEndpoint>(Enums.EndPoints.Gdsn)); if (col.Count > 0) col.Insert(0, Factory.Get<IEndpoint>(Enums.EndPoints.Marketing)); this.endpointRepeater.DataSource = col; this.endpointRepeater.DataBind(); if (this.endpointRepeater.Items.Count > 0) { LinkButton lb = this.endpointRepeater.Items[0].FindControl("endpointLink") as LinkButton; this.EndpointSelected(lb, new EventArgs()); } } thanks, mark

  • How to unpack htmlAttributes in a span tag in ASP.NET MVC

    - by sleepy
I have htmlAttributes generated - originally for the purpose of creating a link with the attribute using Html.ActionLink. Now, based on some condition, I would like to create a <span> tag instead and put the attributes in there. Is there anyway it can be done easily ? Eg: something like: <span <%= htmlAttributes.Unpack() %> > Some txt </span> OR <%= Html.SpanTag("Some txt", htmlAttributes) %> OR anything similar without wresling too much with the already generated htmlAttribues? Thanks

  • jQuery Templates vs Partial Views in ASP.NET MVC

    - by Jaco Pretorius
I'm taking a look at jQuery templates. It looks really interesting - easy syntax, easy to use, very clean. However, I can't really see why it's better to use jQuery templates instead of simply fetching partial views via AJAX. It simply seems like the partial views would be much easier to maintain and helps to avoid duplication of code. I want to use jQuery templates. But when would it be better than partial views?

  • Hide labels in pie charts (MS Chart for .Net)

    - by grenade
I can't seem to find the property that controls visibility of labels in pie charts. I need to turn the labels off as the information is available in the legend. Anyone know what property I can use in code behind? I tried setting the series labels to nothing Chart1.Series[i].Label = string.Empty; but the labels seem to show up anyway.

  • asp.net custom templated datalist - throws argument out of range (index) on button press

    - by MrTortoise
I have a class BaseTemplate public abstract class BaseTemplate : ITemplate This adds the controls, and provides abstract methods to implement in the inheriting class. The inheriting class then adds its html according to its data source and manages the data binding. this all works fine - I get the control appearing with properly parsed html. the problem is that the base class adds controls into the template that have their own CommandName arguments ... the idea is that the class that implements the custom templated dataList will provide the logic of setting the Selected and Edit Indexes. This class also manages the data binding etc. It sets all of the templates ont he datalist in the Init method (which was another cause of this exception). the exception gets throw when i hit one of these buttons .. but after the ItemCommand event is being processed. The stack trace does not include any references to my methods or objects which is why i am so stuck. The Exception Details Exception Details: System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. • How to build a simulation of a login hardware token in .Net

    - by Michel
Hi, i have a hardware token for remote login to some citrix environment. When i click the button on the device, i get an id and i can use that to login to the citrix farm. I can click the button as much as i like, and every time a new code gets generated, and they all work. Now i want to secure my private website likewise, but not with the hardware token, but with a 'token app' on my phone. So i run an app on my phone, generate a key, and use that to (partly) authenticate myself on the server. But here's the point: i don't know how it works! How can i generate 1, 2 or 100 keys at one time which i can see (on the server) are all valid, but without the server and the phone app having contact (the hardware token also is an 'offline' solution). Can you help me with a hint how i would do this? This is what i thought of so far: the phone app and the server app know (hardcoded) the same encryption key. The phone app encrypts the current time. The server app decrypts the string to the current time and if the diff between that time and the actual server time is less than 10 minutes it's an ok. Difficult for other users to fake a key, but encryption gives such nasty strings to enter, and the hardware token gives me nice things like 'H554TU8' And this is probably not how the real hardware token works, because the server and the phone app must 'know' the same encryption key. • .net: does anyone know a free library to download nntp messages

    - by stighy
hi folks, i'm using ip*works for download newsgroup message and insert them into a database... ipworks is "comfortable" to use because it automatically split nntp data return into different object (or variable). So i've "author" "date" "topic" "messagge" already splitted to my use. However ipworks isn't free and it cost a lot for my use.. so i'm asking you some component or code snippet to use to download and "manage" nntp messagges. Thanks in advance and regards!

  • ASP.NET MVC URL Routing problem

    - by Sadegh
hi, i have defined a route as below: context.MapRoute("SearchEngineWebSearch", "search/web/{query}/{index}/{size}", new { controller = "search", action = "web", query = "", index = 0, size = 5 }); and action method to handle request match with that: public System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult Web(string query = "", int index = 0, int size = 5) { if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(query)) return RedirectToRoute("SearchEngineBasicSearch"); var search = new Search(); var results = search.PerformSearch(query, index, size); ViewData["Query"] = query; if (results != null && results.Count() > 0) { ViewData["Results"]= results; return View("Web"); } else return View("Not-Found"); } and form to sent parameter to action method: <% using (Html.BeginForm("Web", "Search", FormMethod.Post)) { %> <input name="query" type="text" value="<%: ViewData["Query"]%>" class="search-field" /> <input type="submit" value="Search" class="search-button" /> <input type="hidden" name="index" value="2" /> <input type="hidden" name="size" value="2" /> <%} %> now after click on submit and sending value to action method all route values updated but url values still is equals to first time of sending parameter. for example if i sent for first time request such as http://localhost/search/web/google and for next time http://localhost/search/web/yahoo, query parameter which passed to action method is yahoo but url after postback is http://localhost/search/web/google still! can anybody help me plz? ;)

  • ASP.NET client side validation with dataannotations - javascript minimumlength zero

    - by Kordonme
Hi! I'm doing client side validation on a project I'm working on. Everything works, except for the minimumlength property of the StringLength attribute (it works when submitting and a serverside validation is done): [StringLength(50, MinimumLength = 6)] The javascript generated by Html.EnableClientValication(); is the following: // snip {"FieldName":"User.Password","ReplaceValidationMessageContents":true,"ValidationMessageId":"User_Password_validationMessage","ValidationRules":[{"ErrorMessage":"The field Password must be a string with a minimum length of 6 and a maximum length of 50.","ValidationParameters":{"minimumLength":0,"maximumLength":50},"ValidationType":"stringLength"}]}],"FormId":"form0","ReplaceValidationSummary":false}) The important thing is here: {"minimumLength":0,"maximumLength":50} It produces javascript with the wrong minimumproperty. You guys have a hint? Is this a possible bug?

  • error in mysql syntax in vb.net

    - by user225269
I get this error, while I'm testing the code below: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '[student](ID, LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME, SCHOOL) VALUES ('333', 'aaa', 'aaa', 'aaa')' at line 1 I just recycled the code that I used in manipulating ms sql database. So the syntax must be wrong. What might be the correct syntax for adding records into mysql database? Here is my current code: idnum = TextBox1.Text lname = TextBox2.Text fname = TextBox3.Text skul = TextBox4.Text Using sqlcon As New MySqlConnection("Server=localhost; Database=testing;Uid=root;Pwd=nitoryolai123$%^;") sqlcon.Open() Dim sqlcom As New MySqlCommand() sqlcom.Connection = sqlcon sqlcom.CommandText = "INSERT INTO [student](ID, LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME, SCHOOL) VALUES (@ParameterID, @ParameterLastName, @ParameterFirstName, @ParameterSchool)" sqlcom.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ParameterID", TextBox1.Text) sqlcom.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ParameterLastName", TextBox2.Text) sqlcom.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ParameterFirstName", TextBox3.Text) sqlcom.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ParameterSchool", TextBox4.Text) sqlcom.ExecuteNonQuery() End Using Please help, thanks
