  • TinyMCE not working in http request xhr ajax generated page

    - by user982853
    So i I have a page that contains links that call an httpRequest. The request calls a php file that grabs data from mysql and pre populates a form which is then returned to the browser/webpage. My problem is that when the page is returned to the browser via the httpRequest/ajax the text area does not display the tinymce editor, it just displays a normal text area. It looks like my request and ajax is working fine the text area just doesn't have the tinycme editor on it. When i don't use ajax it works fine but when i put it in a separate file and call it via ajax it doesn't bring in the tinymce editor. Does anyone know how to fix this problem so that my ajax generated page displays the text area with the tinymce editor. Thank you.

    Int he below code a textarea is added 6 times and initially the textarea conatins the text Enter Text. My question is, if the user enters data in first and third textareas. How to give alert to the user saying that the "textareas are empty" this is a general message but focus on the 2nd textarea and when the user enters data in 2nd the next textarea should be focused. <script> function ad_R(count) { //Adding and populating table row var row = '<tr>'; row += '<td>'; row += '<textarea rows = "8" cols = "18" border ="0" class="input" style="border:none;overflow:visible;width:100%;" id="details'+count+'" nfocus="if (this.value == \'Enter text\') this.value = \'\';" onblur="if (this.value == \'\') this.value = \'Enter text\';" name ="detail'+count+'" class="row_details'+r_count+'">Enter text</textarea></td></tr>'; } $(document).ready(function() { cnt += '<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="1" width="100%" id="_table">'; cnt += '<tr>'; cnt += '<th width="30%">Category</th>'; cnt += '</tr>'; for(var i=0;i<6;i++) { cnt += add_R(6); } cnt += '</table>'; });

  • jQuery.closest(); traversing down the DOM not up

    - by Alex
    Afternoon peoples. I am having a bit of a nightmare traversing a DOM tree properly. I have the following markup <div class="node" id="first-wh"> <div class="content-heading has-tools"> <div class="tool-menu" style="position: relative"> <span class="menu-open stepper-down"></span> <ul class="tool-menu-tools" style="display:none;"> <li><img src="/resources/includes/images/layout/tools-menu/edit22.png" /> Edit <input type="hidden" class="variables" value="edit,hobbies,text,/theurl" /></li> <li>Menu 2</li> <li>Menu 3</li> </ul> </div> <h3>Employment History</h3></div> <div class="content-body editable disabled"> <h3 class="dates">1st January 2010 - 10th June 2010</h3> <h3>Company</h3> <h4>Some Company</h4> <h3>Job Title</h3> <h4>IT Manager</h4> <h3>Job Description</h3> <p class="desc">I headed up the IT department for all things concerning IT and infrastructure</p> <h3>Roles &amp; Responsibilities</h3> <p class="desc">It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. And I am trying to traverse from input.save at the bottom right the way up to div.node... This all works well with one copy of the markup but if I duplicate it (obvisouly changing the ID of the uppermost div.node and use jQuery.closest('div.node') for the upper of the div.node's it will return the element below it not the element above it (which is the right one). I've tried using parents() but that also has it's caveats. Is there some kind of contexyt that can be attached to closest to make it go up and not down? or is there a better way to do this. jQuery code below. $(".save").click(function(){ var element=$(this); var enodes=element.parents('.edit-node').find('input.variables'); var variables=enodes.val(); var onode=element.closest('div.node').find('.editable'); var enode=element.closest('div.node').find('.edit-node-hide'); var vnode=element.closest('div.node-actions').find('input.checkdisable'); var isvis=(vnode.is(":checked")) ? onode.removeClass('disabled') : onode.addClass('disabled'); onode.slideDown(200); enode.fadeOut(100); }); Thanks in advance. Alex P.S It seems that stackoverflow has done something weird to the markup! - I just triple checked it and it is fine but for some reason it's concate'd it below

  • Problem with From field in contact form and mail() function

    - by Matthew
    I've got a contact form with 3 fields and a textarea... I use jQuery to validate it and then php to send emails. This contact form works fine but, when I receive an email, From field isn't correct. I'd like to want that From field shows text typed in the Name field of the contact form. Now I get a From field like this: <[email protected]> For example, if an user types "Matthew" in the name field, I'd like to want that this word "Matthew" appears in the From field. This is my code (XHTML, jQuery, PHP): <div id="contact"> <h3 id="formHeader">Send Us a Message!</h3> <form id="contactForm" method="post" action=""> <div id="risposta"></div> <!-- End Risposta Div --> <span>Name:</span> <input type="text" id="formName" value="" /><br /> <span>E-mail:</span> <input type="text" id="formEmail" value="" /><br /> <span>Subject:</span> <input type="text" id="formSubject" value="" /><br /> <span>Message:</span> <textarea id="formMessage" rows="9" cols="20"></textarea><br /> <input type="submit" id="formSend" value="Send" /> </form> </div> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#formSend").click(function(){ var valid = ''; var nome = $("#formName").val(); var mail = $("#formEmail").val(); var oggetto = $("#formSubject").val(); var messaggio = $("#formMessage").val(); if (nome.length<1) { valid += '<span>Name field empty.</span><br />'; } if (!mail.match(/^([a-z0-9._-]+@[a-z0-9._-]+\.[a-z]{2,4}$)/i)) { valid += '<span>Email not valid or empty field.</span><br />'; } if (oggetto.length<1) { valid += '<span>Subject field empty.</span><br />'; } if (valid!='') { $("#risposta").fadeIn("slow"); $("#risposta").html("<span><b>Error:</b></span><br />"+valid); $("#risposta").css("background-color","#ffc0c0"); } else { var datastr ='nome=' + nome + '&mail=' + mail + '&oggetto=' + oggetto + '&messaggio=' + encodeURIComponent(messaggio); $("#risposta").css("display", "block"); $("#risposta").css("background-color","#FFFFA0"); $("#risposta").html("<span>Sending message...</span>"); $("#risposta").fadeIn("slow"); setTimeout("send('"+datastr+"')",2000); } return false; }); }); function send(datastr){ $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "contactForm.php", data: datastr, cache: false, success: function(html) { $("#risposta").fadeIn("slow"); $("#risposta").html('<span>Message successfully sent.</span>'); $("#risposta").css("background-color","#e1ffc0"); setTimeout('$("#risposta").fadeOut("slow")',2000); } }); } </script> <?php $mail = $_POST['mail']; $nome = $_POST['nome']; $oggetto = $_POST['oggetto']; $text = $_POST['messaggio']; $ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; $to = "[email protected]"; $message = $text."<br /><br />IP: ".$ip."<br />"; $headers = "From: $nome \n"; $headers .= "Reply-To: $mail \n"; $headers .= "MIME-Version: 1.0 \n"; $headers .= "Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 \n"; mail($to, $oggetto, $message, $headers); ?>

  • UILabel background color not updating in UITableView

    - by Joey
    I'm having a perplexing problem with a simple UILabel I put on a cell in a UITableView. I enter a separate view after tapping on a row, like many UITableViews. In there, I update the cell so that when I return to the rows, it should be updated, with this: MyTableViewCell* cell = (MyTableViewCell*) [mTableView cellForRowAtIndexPath: [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:mActiveRow inSection:0]]; cell.myLabel.text = @"New Value"; // updated text cell.myLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor greenColor]; // updated color When I return, though, only the text is updated, not the color. When I scroll the row off the screen and return it refreshes properly via another path of code that has exactly the same code. Could there be some trigger to refresh specifically the background color of the UILabel? I'm not sure why the text will refresh but the color won't.

  • iPhone - Using javascritp to increase font of web view

    - by satyam
    i've a webview in my app. It has + and - buttons to increase and decrease the font. When I start the view, the text occupies whole 320 pixels width. I'm following the way mentioned in "http://stackoverflow.com/questions/589177/how-to-increase-font-size-in-uiwebview" I'm seeing the increase and decrease of font. But once the font size increases, text is not occupying full view. It won't occupy whole 320 pixels width. As and when text size increases, the width of final text in web view decreases slowly. Why? How to avoid it?

  • Java Encryption issue

    - by r1k0
    I am using PBE encryption to encrypt and decrypt some text on an Android application but I get the BadPaddingException: with the "pad block corrupted" message when I use the wrong private key to decrypt the text. My question, since I am not well versed with encryption in Java, is if this is the normal behavior of the encryption API, because I need to do some logic in the case when the wrong key is entered, but I do not know the private key, nor do I store it anywhere (storing just the encrypted and decrypted check text). Thanks, Mihai

  • bug in my jquery code while trying replace html elements with own values

    - by loviji
    I today ask a question, about using Jquery, replace html elements with own values. link text And I use answer, and get a problem. function replaceWithValues not works same in all cases.I call this function two times: 1. btnAddParam click 2. btnCancelEdit click $("#btnAddParam").click(function() { var lastRow = $('#mainTable tr:last'); var rowState = $("#mainTable tr:last>td:first"); replaceWithValues(lastRow, rowState); var htmlToAppend = "<tr bgcolor='#B0B0B0' ><td class='textField' er='editable'><input value='' type='text' /></td><td><textarea cols='40' rows='3' ></textarea></td><td>" + initSelectType(currentID) + "</td><td><input id='txt" + currentID + "3' type='text' class='measureUnit' /></td><td><input type='checkbox' /></td><td></td></tr>"; $("#mainTable").append(htmlToAppend); }); //buttonCancelEdit located in end of row $('#mainTable input:button').unbind().live('click', function() { var row = $(this).closest('tr'); var rowState = $(this).closest('tr').find("td:first"); replaceWithValues(row, rowState); $(this).remove(); }); //do row editable -- replaceWithElements $('#mainTable tr').unbind().live('click', function() { if ($(this).find("td:first").attr("er") == "readable") { var rowState = $(this).closest('tr').find("td:first"); replaceWithElements($(this), rowState); } }); function replaceWithValues(row, er) { if (er.attr("er") == "editable") { var inputElements = $('td > input:text', row); inputElements.each(function() { var value = $(this).val(); $(this).replaceWith(value); }); er.attr("er", "readable"); } } function replaceWithElements(row, er) { if (er.attr("er") == "readable") { var tdinit = $("<td>").attr("er", "editable").addClass("textField"); $('.textField', row).each(function() { var element = tdinit.append($("<input type='text' value="+$.trim($(this).text())+" />")); $(this).empty().replaceWith(element); }); row.find("td:last").append("<input type='button'/>"); //$('.selectField') ... //$('.textAreaField') ... } } $("#btnAddParam").click() function works well. it call function replaceWithValues. I call $('#mainTable tr').unbind().live('click', function() { } to do row editable, and it creates a button in the end of row. After user can click this button and call function $('#mainTable input:button').unbind().live('click', function() {}. and this function call function replaceWithValues. but in this case it doesn't work.

  • IBOutlet UILabel do not get resized

    - by Leonardo
    HI all, I have designed a view in Interface Builder and connected correctly with its controller. There some UILabel in it that are going to be filled with lot of text. But, even if I have declared "word wrap" and set line to 0 in IB, I can display only first line. I notice that if I increase the height of the UILabel in IB, all the text display properly in multi line, but I cannot do that because text may vary. Shouldn't the UILabel resize itself to fit all the text ? Also, if I built the UILabel programmatically I can succesfully accomplish a word wrap, why cannot do the same with IB ? What am I doing wrong ? thanks Leonardo

  • CSS layout problem on Firefox with filling space between end of left column and footer

    - by Jean
    Basically, the left column is supposed to extend to the footer with the continuous red color. However, in Firefox on pages with lots of text, the column does not extend to the footer and leaves a large white gap--see site: http://library.luhs.org/JHSII/about.html I've tried readjusting the heights, creating the sticky footer, and other things I've read about on this site. So I admit that I'm stumped, and what's really odd is that the layout seems to work in IE as there is no white space! I didn't create the site, but I recently inherited it and trying to work through the mess Any help is much appreciated, here's the CSS #html,body{ margin:0; padding:0; border:0; height:100%; } #body{ background:#ffffff; min-width:965px; text-align:center; width: 600px; font: Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; } #.style7{ clear:both; height:1px; overflow:hidden; line-height:1%; font-size:0px; margin-bottom:-1px; } #fullheightcontainer{ margin-left:auto; margin-right:auto; text-align:left; position:relative; width:965px; height:100%; } #wrapper{ min-height:100%; height:100%; background:#660000; background-color: #660000; background-repeat: repeat; } #wrapp\65 r{ height:auto; } # html wrapper{ height:100%; } #outer{ z-index:1; position:relative; margin-left:150px; width:815px; background:#FFFFFF; height:100%; background-color: #FFFFFF; } #left{ width:151px; float:left; display:inline; position:relative; margin-left:-150px; } padding: 20px; border: 0; margin: 0 0 0 240px *>html #left{width:150px;} #container-left{ width:150px; color: #CCCCCC; } * html #left{margin-right:-3px;} #center{ width:800px; float:right; display:inline; margin-left:-1px; } #clearheadercenter{ height:125px; overflow:hidden; } #clearfootercenter{ height:50px; overflow:hidden; } #footer{ z-index:1; position:relative; clear: both; width:965px; height:50px; overflow:hidden; margin-top:-50px; background-color: #660000; } #subfooter1{ background:#FFFFCC; text-align:left; margin-left:150px; height:50px; } #header{ z-index:1; position:absolute; top:0px; width:815px; margin-left:150px; height:100px; overflow:hidden; background-color: #660000; } #subheader1{ background:#FFFFCC; text-align:center; height:70px; } #gfx_bg_middle{ top:0px; position:absolute; height:100%; overflow:hidden; width:815px; margin-left:150px; background:#FFFFFF; } # html #gfx_bg_middle{ display:none; } #floatingnav { margin: 5px 10px 5px 5px; padding: 0px 5px 5px; float: right; font: .75em/1.35em Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; height: 600px; width: 300px; } #floatingnav a { color: #630; } #floatingnav ul { margin-top: -5; } #.floatright { float: right; margin: 0 0 10px 10px; border: 1px solid #666; padding: 2px; } #outer{ word-wrap:break-word; } #table.s1 { border-width: medium; border-spacing: 2px; border-style: none; border-color: rgb(85, 0, 0); border-collapse: collapse; background-color: white; } #table.s1 th { border-width: medium; padding: 2px; border-style: groove; border-color: red; background-color: white; -moz-border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 0px; } #table.s1 td { border-width: medium; padding: 2px; border-style: groove; border-color: #660000; background-color: #FFFFFF; -moz-border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 0px; } #a:link { color: #000066; } #a:visited { color: #000066; } #p.sample { font-family: serif; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; font-size: medium; line-height: 100%; word-spacing: normal; letter-spacing: normal; text-decoration: none; text-transform: none; text-align: left; text-indent: 0ex; }

  • how to verify browser IP for server-side web service

    - by Anthony
    I have a web service that needs to be able to verify the end-user's IP that called the server-script that is requesting the web service. Simple layout: Person A goes to Webpage B. Webpage B calls Web Service C to get some info on Person A. Web Service C won't give Webpage B the requested information without confirmation that the request originated from Person A's IP and not someone who has stolen Person A's session. I'm thinking that for a browser-based solution, the original site (Webpage B) can open an iframe that goes to the Web Service's authentication page. A key of some kind is passed to the browser which will some how indicate both the user's IP and Web Page B's IP, so that the Web Service can confirm that no one has nabbed anything. I have two challenges, but I'll stick to the more immediate one first: I'm not sure if my browser-based plan really makes sense. If someone steals the session cookie, how is the Web Service going to know? Would this cookie be held be Web Page B and thus be harder to steal? Is it a sound assumption that a cookie or key held by the server only and not the browser is safe? Also, would the web service, based on the iframe initial connection, be expecting the server/user-ip combo? What I mean is, does the session key provided via the iframe get stored by the web service and the Web Site B shows it has a match? Or is the session key more generic, meaning the web service is passed the key by Website B and the Web Service verifies that this is a valid session key based on what a valid session key should look like?

  • JTree events seem misordered

    - by MeBigFatGuy
    It appears to me that tree selection events should happen after focus events, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Assume you have a JTree and a JTextField, where the JTextField is populated by what is selected in the tree. When the user changes the text field, on focus lost, you update the tree from the text field. however, the tree selection is changed before the focus is lost on the text field. this is incorrect, right? Any ideas? Here is some sample code: import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import javax.swing.*; import javax.swing.event.*; public class Focus extends JFrame { public static void main(String[] args) { Focus f = new Focus(); f.setLocationRelativeTo(null); f.setVisible(true); } public Focus() { Container cp = getContentPane(); cp.setLayout(new BorderLayout()); final JTextArea ta = new JTextArea(5, 10); cp.add(new JScrollPane(ta), BorderLayout.SOUTH); JSplitPane sp = new JSplitPane(); cp.add(sp, BorderLayout.CENTER); JTree t = new JTree(); t.addTreeSelectionListener(new TreeSelectionListener() { public void valueChanged(TreeSelectionEvent tse) { ta.append("Tree Selection changed\n"); } }); t.addFocusListener(new FocusListener() { public void focusGained(FocusEvent fe) { ta.append("Tree focus gained\n"); } public void focusLost(FocusEvent fe) { ta.append("Tree focus lost\n"); } }); sp.setLeftComponent(new JScrollPane(t)); JTextField f = new JTextField(10); sp.setRightComponent(f); pack(); f.addFocusListener(new FocusListener() { public void focusGained(FocusEvent fe) { ta.append("Text field focus gained\n"); } public void focusLost(FocusEvent fe) { ta.append("Text field focus lost\n"); } }); setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); } }

    So I found this countdown at http://davidwalsh.name/jquery-countdown-plugin, I altered it a little bit: jQuery.fn.countDown = function(settings,to) { settings = jQuery.extend({ duration: 1000, startNumber: $(this).text(), endNumber: 0, callBack: function() { } }, settings); return this.each(function() { //where do we start? if(!to && to != settings.endNumber) { to = settings.startNumber; } //set the countdown to the starting number $(this).text(to); //loopage $(this).animate({ 'fontSize': settings.endFontSize },settings.duration,'',function() { if(to > settings.endNumber + 1) { $(this).text(to - 1).countDown(settings,to - 1); } else { settings.callBack(this); } }); }); }; Then I have this code: $(document).ready(function(){ $('.countdown').countDown({ callBack: function(me){ $(me).text('THIS IS THE TEXT'); } }); }); I don't mind taking everything out of the "animate" loop; I'd prefer that since nothing needs to be animated. (I don't need the font size to change). So everything's working to a point. I have a span with class countdown and whatever is in it when the page is refreshed goes down second by second. However, I need it to be formatted in M:S format. So, my two questions: 1) What can I use instead of animate to take care of the loop yet maintain the callback 2) How (where in the code should I) can I play with the time format? Thanks.

  • Static Javascript files not loaded in Express app

    - by Dave Long
    I have an express app that has a bunch of static javascript files that aren't being loaded even though they are registered in my app.js file. Even public scripts (like jQuery: http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.3/jquery.min.js) aren't processing. I can see the script tags in the generated html, but none of the functionality runs and I can't see the files loading in the web inspector. Here is the code that I have: app.js var express = require('express') var app = module.exports = express.createServer(); // Configuration var port = process.env.PORT || 3000; app.configure(function(){ app.set('views', __dirname + '/views'); app.set('view engine', 'jade'); app.use(express.bodyParser()); app.use(express.methodOverride()); app.use(app.router); app.use(express.static(__dirname + '/public')); }); app.configure('development', function(){ app.use(express.errorHandler({ dumpExceptions: true, showStack: true })); }); app.configure('production', function(){ app.use(express.errorHandler()); }); // Routes app.get('/manage/new', function(req, res){ res.render('manage/new', { title: 'Create a new widget' }); }) app.listen(port); console.log("Express server listening on port %d in %s mode", app.address().port, app.settings.env); /views/manage/layout.jade !!! 5 html(lang="en") head title= title link(rel="stylesheet", href="/stylesheets/demo.css") link(rel="stylesheet", href="/stylesheets/jquery.qtip.css") script(type="text/javascript", href="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.3/jquery.min.js") body!= body script(type="text/javascript", href="/javascripts/jquery.formalize.js") script(type="text/javascript", href="/javascripts/jquery.form.js") script(type="text/javascript", href="/javascripts/jquery.qtip.js") script(type="text/javascript", href="/javascripts/formToWizard.js") script(type="text/javascript", href="/javascripts/widget.js") /views/manage/new.jade h1= title div(style="float:left;") form(action="/manage/generate", method="post", enctype="multipart/form-data", name="create-widget") .errors fieldset legend Band / Album Information fieldset legend Social Networks fieldset legend Download All of my javascript files are stored in /public/javascripts and all of my static CSS files are being served up just fine. I'm not sure what I've done wrong.

  • MVVM- How can I bind to a property, which is not a DependancyProperty?

    - by highone
    I have found this question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2245928/mvvm-and-the-textboxs-selectedtext-property. However, I am having trouble getting the solution given to work. This is my non-working code: View: SelectedText and Text are just string properties from my ViewModel. <TextBox Text="{Binding Path=Text, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" Height="155" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="68,31,0,0" Name="textBox1" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="264" AcceptsReturn="True" AcceptsTab="True" local:TextBoxHelper.SelectedText="{Binding SelectedText, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" /> <TextBox Text="{Binding SelectedText, Mode=OneWay, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" Height="154" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="82,287,0,0" Name="textBox2" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="239" /> TextBoxHelper public static class TextBoxHelper { #region "Selected Text" public static string GetSelectedText(DependencyObject obj) { return (string)obj.GetValue(SelectedTextProperty); } public static void SetSelectedText(DependencyObject obj, string value) { obj.SetValue(SelectedTextProperty, value); } // Using a DependencyProperty as the backing store for SelectedText. This enables animation, styling, binding, etc... public static readonly DependencyProperty SelectedTextProperty = DependencyProperty.RegisterAttached( "SelectedText", typeof(string), typeof(TextBoxHelper), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(null, FrameworkPropertyMetadataOptions.BindsTwoWayByDefault, SelectedTextChanged)); private static void SelectedTextChanged(DependencyObject obj, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs e) { TextBox tb = obj as TextBox; if (tb != null) { if (e.OldValue == null && e.NewValue != null) { tb.SelectionChanged += tb_SelectionChanged; } else if (e.OldValue != null && e.NewValue == null) { tb.SelectionChanged -= tb_SelectionChanged; } string newValue = e.NewValue as string; if (newValue != null && newValue != tb.SelectedText) { tb.SelectedText = newValue as string; } } } static void tb_SelectionChanged(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { TextBox tb = sender as TextBox; if (tb != null) { SetSelectedText(tb, tb.SelectedText); } } #endregion } What am I doing wrong?

  • Handling events exposed on a .NET class via COM in VB6

    - by PeanutPower
    Handling events exposed on a .NET class via COM in VB6 My test .NET (class libary registered for interop in compiler settings) code: Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices <InterfaceType(ComInterfaceType.InterfaceIsIDispatch), ComVisible(True)> _ Public Interface MyEventInterface <DispId(1)> Event Exploded(ByVal Text As String) <DispId(2)> Sub PushRedButton() End Interface <ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)> _ Public Class EventTest Implements MyEventInterface Public Event Exploded(ByVal Text As String) Implements MyEventInterface.Exploded Public Sub PushRedButton() Implements MyEventInterface.PushRedButton RaiseEvent Exploded("Bang") End Sub End Class My test VB6 application winforms code (which references the above class libary): Public ct As New ComTest1.EventTest Private Sub Command1_Click() ct.add_Exploded (ExplodedHandler) ct.PushRedButton ct.remove_Exploded (ExplodedHandler) End Sub Private Sub ExplodedHandler(ByVal Text As String) MsgBox Text End Sub Specifially I'm not sure how to set up the handler in VB6 the compile error I get is "Argument not optional" on this line in the VB6: ct.add_Exploded (ExplodedHandler)

  • How to map different UI views in a RESTful web application?

    - by MicE
    Hello, I'm designing a web application, which will support both standard UIs (accessed via browsers) and a RESTful API (an XML/JSON-based web service). User agents will be able to differentiate between these by using different values in the Accept HTTP header. The RESTful API will use the following URI structure (example for an "article" resource): GET /article/ - gets a list of articles POST /article/ - adds a new article PUT /article/{id} - updates an existing article based on {id} DELETE /article/{id} - deletes an existing article based on {id} The UI part of the application will however need to support multiple views, for example: a standard resource view a view for submitting a new resource a view for editing an existing resource a view for deleting an existing resource (i.e. display delete confirmation) Note that the latter three views are still accessed via GET, even though they are processed via overloaded POST. Possible solution: Introduce additional parameters (keywords) into URIs which would identify individual views - i.e. on top of the above, the application would support the following URIs (but only for Content-Type: text/html): GET /article/add - displays a form for adding a new article (fetched via GET, processed via POST) GET /article/123 - displays article 123 in "view" mode (fetched via GET) GET /article/123/edit - displays article 123 in "edit" mode (fetched via GET, processed via PUT overloaded as POST) GET /article/123/delete - displays "delete" confirmation for article 123 (fetched via GET, processed via DELETE overloaded as POST) A better implementation of the above might be to put the add/edit/delete keywords into a GET parameter - since they do not change the resource we're working with, it might be better to keep the base URI same for all of them. My question is: How would you map the above URI structure to UIs served to the regular user, considering that there can be several views per each resource, please? Do you agree with the possible solution detailed above, or would you recommend a different approach based on your experience? NB: we've already implemented an application which consists of a standalone RESTful API and a standalone web application. I'm currently looking into options for future projects where these two would be merged together (i.e. in order to reduce overhead). Thank you, M.
