• Controling the visibility of a Bitmap in .NET

  Hi everyone, I am trying to create this simple application in c#: when the user double clicks on specific location in the form, a little circle will be drawn. By one click, if the current location is marked by a circle - the circle will be removed. I am trying to do this by simply register the MouseDoubleClick and MouseClick events, and to draw the circle from a .bmp file the following way: private void MouseDoubleClick (object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { Graphics g = this.CreateGraphics(); Bitmap myImage = (Bitmap)Bitmap.FromFile("Circle.bmp"); g.DrawImage(myImage, e.X, e.Y); } My problem is that I dont know how to make the circle unvisible when the user clicks its location: I know how to check if the selected location contains a circle (by managing a list of all the locations containig circles...), but I dont know how exactly to delete it. Another question: should I call the method this.CreateGraphics() everytime the user double-clicks a location, as I wrote in my code snippet, or should I call it once on initialization?

What MIME type will I need to associate with it? Also I want to add a group address field which will have a list of group addresses in it (name@domain, name@domain,...). Wich MIME type will I have to associate with this type of field. I also want to add custom fields to the Call History like a session ID and SIP address(name@domain) field. How can I customize the call history? It'll be great if someone can give me an example.

• Forming a SOAP request message through WSDL

  I'm very new to webservices. I'm trying to figure out how I can formulate a request message (and determine what the response message) would be based on the wsdl description that I have. This is from a third party web service. The WSDL description that I have access to gives me a bunch of information like <types> <message> <operation> etc. But in the examples that I've seen online, it's showing the request mesage within the "soap:envelope" tag. What am I missing? Eventually I'd like to be able to call this webservice using JQuery. But I can't even figure out how to formulate the request message let alone make an ajax call to it. any help would be appreciated.

  I have a form in my Rails 3 app where I want to create a select tag for just the year on a method :grad_year. I have everything working - and storing - properly using date_select and adding :discard_month and :discard_day. However when I render @profile.grad_year I get the month and day values. So I'm wondering how to store and render only the year for @profile.grad_year?   Can someone explain to me why these comparisons work they way the do. I had a bug in one of my scripts that took me a little bit to work through. I was using read-host and typing a number. It was storing it as a string. Write-Host "(`'2`' -gt 9 ) = " ('2' -gt 9 ) Write-Host "(2 -gt 9 ) = " (2 -gt 9 ) Write-Host "(`'2`' -gt 10 ) = " ('2' -gt 10 ) If you are comparing a string to an Int does it use the Ascii value? If so why does the first one show $false, it should be $true. Then how is it when you chage it to an int of 10 it because $true.

  I have two h:selectManyCheckBox with the required attribute set to true. What I want is that the required attribute of both of the components work together. Only display the error message if and only if both of the selected items list are empty. Right now my problem is that the message displays if either one of them is empty. • Template class + virtual function = must implement?

  This code: template <typename T> struct A { T t; void DoSomething() { t.SomeFunction(); } }; struct B { }; A<B> a; is easily compiled without any complaints, as long as I never call a.DoSomething(). However, if I define DoSomething as a virtual function, I will get a compile error saying that B doesn't declare SomeFunction. I can somewhat see why it happens (DoSomething should now have an entry in the vtable), but I can't help feeling that it's not really obligated. Plus it sucks. Is there any way to overcome this? EDIT 2: Okay. I hope this time it makes sence: Let's say I am doing intrusive ref count, so all entities must inherit from base class Object. How can I suuport primitive types too? I can define: template <typename T> class Primitive : public Object { T value; public: Primitive(const T &value=T()); operator T() const; Primitive<T> &operator =(const T &value); Primitive<T> &operator +=(const T &value); Primitive<T> &operator %=(const T &value); // And so on... }; so I can use Primitive<int>, Primitive<char>... But how about Primitive<float>? It seems like a problem, because floats don't have a %= operator. But actually, it isn't, since I'll never call operator %= on Primitive<float>. That's one of the deliberate features of templates. If, for some reason, I would define operator %= as virtual. Or, if i'll pre-export Primitive<float> from a dll to avoid link errors, the compiler will complain even if I never call operator %= on a Primitive<float>. If it would just have fill in a dummy value for operator %= in Primitive<float>'s vtable (that raises an exception?), everything would have been fine.

• Android - dialer icon gets placed in recently used apps after finish()

  In my application I detect the out going call when a call is dialled from the dialer or contacts. This works fine and I then pop up a dialog saying I have detected the call and then the user presses a button to close the dialog which calls finish() on that activity. It all works fine except that when I then hold the home key to bring up the recently used apps the dialer icon is there. And when it is clicked the dialog is brought back into focus in the foreground when the dialog activity should be dead and gone and not be able to be brought back to the foreground. Here is a picture of what I mean. So two questions arise, why would the dialer icon be getting placed there and why would it be recalling my activity to the foreground? I have over 40,000 artists in this table. So, I'd like to convert all artists names to search friendly. What is the best way to accomplish this? Not looking for code here, just ideas. There are a few issues I ran up against: The problem is that then I needed to move the ball, so I created that while loop. I don't see any other way to do that other than just keep it "true", so that means any other code I create below this loop won't happen. I didn't make the while loop a different function because I was using those variables i and j. So I don't see how I can refactor beyond this loop. So my main question is: How would I pass the values of i and j to a new method: "animateBall" and how would I use ball.move(vx + vx, vy + vy); in that new method if ball has been declared in the buildBall method? I understand this is probably a simple thing of better understanding variable scope and passing arguments, but I'm not quite there yet...

  I recently took on a project to build a webpage. I am an experienced developer but never worked with coding a psd file into a webpage. Now, the psd file uses a specific font, which I do not have probably, as I can see it in grey and [ ] at the bottom of the fonts list. Sorry for the naive question, but what am I supposed to do from the client's point of view? Should I have that font? Should I buy it? Can I extract it from the psd file? • WPF UserControl event called only once?

  Hi Everyone, I need to bind two-way a property of a user control to a property of a containing user control. I also need to set a default value to the property from code in the child (cannot be done easily from XAML tags). If I call my code from the child constructor, the value is set in the parent but the change callback routine is not triggered (my understanding is that the parent doesn't yet exist at the time the child is created). My current workaround is to catch the Loaded event of the child and to call the code from the handler. Howver as Loaded is called more than once, I need to set a flag to set the property only the first time. I don't like this way, but I don't know if there is a single shot event that could be used, or if this can be done otherwise. Any feedback based on your experience?

• Swing: How do I run a job from AWT thread, but after a window was layed out?

  My complete GUI runs inside the AWT thread, because I start the main window using SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait(...). Now I have a JDialog which has just to display a JLabel, which indicates that a certain job is in progress, and close that dialog after the job was finished. The problem is: the label is not displayed. That job seems to be started before JDialog was fully layed-out. When I just let the dialog open without waiting for a job and closing, the label is displayed. The last thing the dialog does in its ctor is setVisible(true). Things such as revalidate(), repaint(), ... don't help either. Even when I start a thread for the monitored job, and wait for it using someThread.join() it doesn't help, because the current thread (which is the AWT thread) is blocked by join, I guess. Replacing JDialog with JFrame doesn't help either. So, is the concept wrong in general? Or can I manage it to do certain job after it is ensured that a JDialog (or JFrame) is fully layed-out? • Doing a lot of input validation in VB.NET

  I have a form set up where users can enter their booking for a room at my college. I want to validate the user input to avoid SQL injection (my program uses a MS Access database) and also stop numbers and synbols in their name, etc. I can do the validation fine, but there is to be a lot of validation and then methods executed only if all validation tests come back as true. I did have something like this: If txtName.Text = "" Then frmBookErr.SetError(txtName, "Name field cannot be left blank.") fail = 1 Else frmBookErr.SetError(txtName, "") fail = 0 End If And then check the fail variable, but it obviously gets overridden later in the form if one of the validation tests come back as true.
