  • Rails app w/ 2.2.0 embedd how to use ruby 1.8 vice 1.9

    - by Barb
Hello all, I have just downloaded an app that is based on Rail 2.2.0 which is included in the app. I have just upgraded to Ruby 1.9 and I still have Ruby 1.8 on my machine. Is there a way I can tell this app to use Ruby 1.8 vice 1.9? Would it be easier to decouple the app from Rails 2.2.0 and upgrade it to Rails 2.3.6? If changing the rails would be easier, how do I do that?

  • [Toplink] How to add c3p0 or DBCP Connection pool?

    - by Jean N.T.
Hello, Could you please explain to me how to add a standalone c3pO or DBCP connection pool to my toplink-based JPA project? I have a persistence.xml file, and everytime I want to query the database, I'm doing this: EntityManagerFactory emf = this.getEntityManagerFactory(); // Surely using persistence.xml to set up the factory EntityManager em = emf.createEntityManager(); ... Where do I build the bridge between my external connection pool manager and Toplink? Any ideas or links are welcomed. Regards, Jean

  • PHP Calculating future date by adding days to a variable date

    - by OneNerd
I was looking at this post, and it is close to what I need: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1669165/php-how-to-count-60-days-from-the-add-date However, in that post, the calculation is performed by adding 60 days to the current date. What I need to do is calculate the date based on a variable date (and not the current date). Something like this: $my_date = $some_row_from_a_database; $date_plus_10_days = ???; Anyone know how to do that? Thanks

How do I go about using HTTPS for some of the pages in my ASP.NET MVC based site? Steve Sanderson has a pretty good tutorial on how to do this in a DRY way on Preview 4 at: http://blog.codeville.net/2008/08/05/adding-httpsssl-support-to-aspnet-mvc-routing/ Is there a better / updated way with Preview 5?,

  • IoC / Dependency Injection - please explain code versus XML

    - by steve.macdonald
I understand basically how IoC frameworks work, however one thing I don't quite get is how code-based config is supposed to work. With XML I understand how you could add a new assembly to a deployed application, then change the config in XML to include it. If the application is already deployed (i.e., compiled in some form) then how can code changes be made without recompiling? Or is that what people do, just change config in code and recompile?

  • A question about John Resig's Simple Javascript Inheritance.

    - by Zippo
I'm using this simple code: http://ejohn.org/blog/simple-javascript-inheritance/ Using this "library", I made this simple class: var Person = Class.extend({ init: function(openningSentence) { this.say(openningSentence); }, say: function(words) { alert(words); } }); The problem with this class, is that I can't call a function using the variable "this" (line 3 in the code gives an error: unknown method "say"). Does anybody knoes if there's a solution for this problem? Btw - I'm using jquery, so if there's a jquery-based solution It'll be great :)

  • Berkeley DB java edition, any LGPL or BSD alternatives in Java?

    - by Ali
Hi All, I am dealing with a huge dataset consisting of key-value pairs. The queries are always in the form of range queries on the key space (keys are numbers) hence any persistent B-Tree like structure will handle the situation. I would like to use BDB-Java Edition but the product is closed source and my company doesn't want to buy BDB-JE License. I am wondering, would you please share your experience with any non-GPL java based key-value storage system. Thanks, -A

  • How do I test an image alt value using capybara?

    - by stayce
I'm trying to define a step to test the value of alt text of an image using capybara and the css selectors. I wrote one for input values based on the readme examples: Then /^I should see a value of "([^\"])" within the "([^\"])" input$/ do |input_value, input_id| element_value = locate("input##{input_id}").value element_value.should == input_value end But I can't figure this one out...something like: Then /^I should see the alttext "([^\"]*)"$/ do | alt_text | element_value = locate("img[alt]").value Anyone know how I can locate the alt text value?

  • Is it possible to configure a Spring session scoped bean with attributes from the session?

    - by Dave G
I'm trying to create a service bean that when referenced will be initialized with HttpSession based attributes. Let's say for sake of argument that my webapp would do the following: Establish a session Request login & password When service is requested (it is scope="session" and has init-method="init()") a new instance is created for the session. In the init method, can I reference the HttpSession either through passing it in as a parameter and referencing it by EL? Any ideas on this would be appreciated.

  • ubercart search - products aren't indexed

    - by Rithish
Our shopping website is based on drupal's ubercart. I have setup ApacheSolr and ApacheSolr Ubercart integration modules. I have created a few products on my website, but am unable to get these products indexed. The default ApacheSolr module works, i.e., I am able to index drupal's default stories. But am unable to achieve indexing for ubercart. Guidance is greatly appreciated. Even links to tutorials to set these up would be helpful.

  • Can someone help me with this Java Chess game please?

    - by Chris Edwards
Hey guys, Please can someone have a look at this code and let me know whether I am on the right track with the "check_somefigure_move"s and the "check_black/white_promotion"s please? And also any other help you can give would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! P.S. • Automatically charge PayPal account?

    - by Mark
I'd like to automatically charge my members a variable amount of money based on the services they use on my website. They would accumulate a balance owing, and then every week they would be charged for that amount. Is there a way I can do this without having to store their credit card information in my database? (Similar to my last question, but I just realized I don't really want to go through the headaches and liability issues of having to safely store CC info)

I am trying to use WCF Services as models for SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 reports. I can do this if I design the reports in the designer but cannot do it for a Reporting Model project which I think I need to make reports in the Report Builder. My full requirement is to have a report builder that the users can use building reports based on DTOs supplied from my WCF service. Thanks

  • GPL liscensed frameworks on eccommerce websites

    - by Adam McMahon
Ok this may be a foolish question, but I just want some clarification on this. If you build a website on a GPL licensed web framework, let's say a browser based game or some kind of kind of sophisticated web application are you required to redistribute all the code? If this is so what licenses would allow you to build on top of an opensource project without requiring you to redistribute the code?
