  An array of integers A[i] (i 1) is defined in the following way: an element A[k] ( k 1) is the smallest number greater than A[k-1] such that the sum of its digits is equal to the sum of the digits of the number 4* A[k-1] . You need to write a program that calculates the N th number in this array based on the given first element A[1] . INPUT: In one line of standard input there are two numbers seperated with a single space: A[1] (1 <= A[1] <= 100) and N (1 <= N <= 10000). OUTPUT: The standard output should only contain a single integer A[N] , the Nth number of the defined sequence. Input: 7 4 Output: 79 Explanation: Elements of the array are as follows: 7, 19, 49, 79... and the 4th element is solution. I tried solving this by coding a separate function that for a given number A[k] calculates the sum of it's digits and finds the smallest number greater than A[k-1] as it says in the problem, but with no success. The first testing failed because of a memory limit, the second testing failed because of a time limit, and now i don't have any possible idea how to solve this. One friend suggested recursion, but i don't know how to set that. Anyone who can help me in any way please write, also suggest some ideas about using recursion/DP for solving this problem. Thanks.

• ColdFusion 8: Database Connection Reset Error

  I have been getting these intermittent ColdFusion Database connection reset errors and was wondering if anyone had experience with this and had a particular solution that worked? Here is the error: Error Executing Database Query.[Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]A problem occurred when attempting to contact the server (Server returned: Connection reset). Please ensure that the server parameters passed to the driver are correct and that the server is running. Also ensure that the maximum number of connections have not been exceeded for this server. This doesn't happen with any particular query, the code breaks in different queries every time, returning a SQLState error 08s01. These query's logic are fine, no logic errors etc. I checked the network logs and there were no database server connection refusals at the time of the error. Once the first error occurs, it keeps happening for no more than a minute or so at random times of the day, every few days. I've googled this thing and so far anyone that has had this issue was only on CF6 or 7, which the fixes coldFusion put out are only for CF6 or 7. Server configuration wise: The ColdFusion server is version 8 The database server is SQL Server 2005 Standard The database connections allowed setting is set to unlimited on both SQL Server and ColdFusion Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

• jQuery: Traversing AJAX response in Chrome/Safari

  I'm trying to traverse an AJAX response, which contains a remote web page (an HTML output). My goal is to iterate through the 'script', 'link', and 'title' elements of the remote page - load them if necessary, and embed its contents to the current page. Its working great in FF/IE, but for some reason - Chrome & Safari behaves differently: When I run a .each() loop on the response, Chrome/Safari seems to omit everything that is under the section of the page. • How to keep track of a private messaging system using MongoDB?

  Take facebook's private messaging system where you have to keep track of sender and receiver along w/ the message content. If I were using MySQL I would have multiple tables, but with MongoDB I'll try to avoid all that. I'm trying to come up with a "good" schema that can scale and is easy to maintain. If I were using mysql, I would have a separate table to reference the user and and message. See below ... profiles table user_id first_name last_name message table message_id message_body time_stamp user_message_ref table user_id (FK) message_id (FK) is_sender (boolean) With the schema listed above, I can query for any messages that "Bob" may have regardless if he's the recipient or sender. Now how to turn that into a schema that works with MongoDB. I'm thinking I'll have a separate collection to hold the messages. Problem is, how can I differentiate between the sender and the recipient? If Bob logs in, what do I query against? Depending on whether Bob initiated the email, I don't want to have to query against "sender" and "receiver" just to see if the message belongs to the user.

• Using PHP to store results of a post request

  Im currently working with an API which requires we send our collection details in xml to their server using a post request. Nothing major there but its not working, so I want to output the sent xml to a txt file so I can look at actually whats being sent!! Instead of posting to the API im posting to a document called target, but the xml its outputting its recording seems to be really wrong. • How to get forkpty to handle redirection and other bash-isms?

  Hi all, I've got a GUI C++ program that takes a shell command from the user, calls forkpty() and execvp() to execute that command in a child process, while the parent (GUI) process reads the child process's stdout/stderr output and displays it in the GUI. This all works nicely (under Linux and MacOS/X). For example, if the user enters "ls -l /foo", the GUI will display the contents of the /foo folder. However, bash niceties like output redirection aren't handled. For example, if the user enters "echo bar /foo/bar.txt", the child process will output the text "bar /foo/bar.txt", instead of writing the text "bar" to the file "/foo/bar.txt". Presumably this is because execvp() is running the executable command "echo" directly, instead of running /bin/bash and handing it the user's command to massage/preprocess. My question is, what is the correct child process invocation to use, in order to make the system behave exactly as if the user had typed in his string at the bash prompt? I tried wrapping the user's command with a /bin/bash invocation, like this: /bin/bash -c the_string_the_user_entered, but that didn't seem to work. Any hints?

  I have a model, view and controller not interacting correctly, and I do not know where the error lies. First, the controller. However, I know that $query is defined, because it works when I run the model code directly in the view.

• Endless problems with a very simple python subprocess.Popen task

  I'd like python to send around a half-million integers in the range 0-255 each to an executable written in C++. This executable will then respond with a few thousand integers. Each on one line. This seems like it should be very simple to do with subprocess but i've had endless troubles. Right now im testing with code: // main() u32 num; std::cin >> num; u8* data = new u8[num]; for (u32 i = 0; i < num; ++i) std::cin >> data[i]; // test output / spit it back out for (u32 i = 0; i < num; ++i) std::cout << data[i] << std::endl; return 0; Building an array of strings ("data"), each like "255\n", in python and then using: output = proc.communicate("".join(data))[0] ...doesn't work (says stdin is closed, maybe too much at one time). Neither has using proc.stdin and proc.stdout worked. This should be so very simple, but I'm getting constant exceptions, and/or no output data returned to me. My Popen is currently: proc = Popen('aux/test_cpp_program', stdin=PIPE, stdout=PIPE, bufsize=1) Advise me before I pull my hair out. ;)

• Strage character encoding problem with Eclipse / Spring / Tomcat 6

  Hi, I have been trying things all da but can't get a proper solution. My problem is: I am developing a Spring MVC based app in my local Tomcat. My MYSQl database has UTF-8 encoding set, all content in there displays properly when using phpMyAdmin. Also the output in LOG files using log4j in catalina.out works fine. My JSP pages are configured by <!-- encoding --> <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" %> <%@ page pageEncoding="UTF-8" %> Also showing data on my JSP works fine. I can also send data from my Controller without any DB intereference using special chars, e.g. String str = "UTF-8 Test: Ä Ö Ü ß è é â"; logger.debug(str); mav.addObject("utftest", str); That displays correctly in log and on jsp page in browser. BUT: When having special chars directly in my JSP file, e.g. for text in headers, this does not work. FF and Google Chrome display strange chars but report the page to be UTF-8. When switching to Latin, the chars just get more and more strange. Same problem when showing text tokens from my messages.properties file, although Eclipse says when right-clicking that UTF-8 will be used. I am a little it lost and don't know where to check now. Summary: DB storage is fine DB output on JSP is fine Output on JSP directly form controller is fine even reading in form forms is fine .properties files and JSP text is not fine !!! Any ideas? I really appreciate and tips.

• Selenium RC: how to capture/handle error?

  Hi, My test uses Selenium to loop through a CSV list of URLs via an HTTP proxy (working script below). As I watch the script run I can see about 10% of the calls produce "Proxy error: 502" ("Bad_Gateway"); however, the errors are not captured by my catch-all "except Exception" clause -- ie: instead of writing 'error' in the appropriate row of the "output.csv", they get passed to the else clause and produce a short piece of html that starts: "Proxy error: 502 Read from server failed: Unknown error." Also, if I collect all the URLs which returned 502s and re-run the script, they all pass, which leads me to believe that this is a sporadic network path issue. Question: Can the script be made to recognize the the 502 errors, sleep a minute, and then retry the URL instead of moving on to the next URL in the list? The only alternative that I can think of is to apply re.search("Proxy error: 502") after "get_html_source" as a way to catch the bad calls. Then, if the RE matches, put the script to sleep for a minute and then retry 'sel.open(row[0]' on the URL which produced the 502. Any advice would be much appreciated.   I have aggregate functions foo(), foobar(), fredstats(), barneystats() I want to create a domain specific query language (DSQL) above my DB, to facilitate using a domain language to query the DB. The 'language' comprises of algebraic expressions (or more specifically SQL like criteria) which I use to generate (ANSI) SQL statements which are sent to the db engine.   I have run a program to generate some results with the different parameters(i.e. the R, C and RP). These results are saved in files named results.txt. Then, I should parse these experimental results to make an analysis. In the params_R_7_C_16_RP_0, the 7 is the value of the parameter R, the 16 is the value of the parameter C and the 0 is the value of the parameter RP. Now, I want to get these results.txt files in the current directory to parse, and sort the path with the parameter values of R,C and RP.   In a web app developed in PHP we are generating Quotations and Invoices (which are very simple and of single page) using TCPDF lib. The lib is working just great but it seems to generate very large PDF files. For example in our case it is generating PDF files as large as 4 MB (+/- a few KB). How to reduce this bloating of PDF files generated by TCPDF?   I'm trying to find a solution for a query on a generalized Fibonacci sequence (GFS). The query is: are there any GFS that have 885 as their 12th number? The initial 2 numbers may be restricted between 1 and 10. I already found the solution to find the Nth number in a sequence that starts at (1, 1) in which I explicitly define the initial numbers. Here is what I have for this: fib(1, 1). fib(2, 1). fib(N, X) :- N #> 1, Nmin1 #= N - 1, Nmin2 #= N - 2, fib(Nmin1, Xmin1), fib(Nmin2, Xmin2), X #= Xmin1 + Xmin2. For the query mentioned I thought the following would do the trick, in which I reuse the fib method without defining the initial numbers explicitly since this now needs to be done dynamically: fib2 :- X1 in 1..10, X2 in 1..10, fib(1, X1), fib(2, X2), fib(12, 885). ... but this does not seem to work. Is it not possible this way to define the initial numbers, or am I doing something terribly wrong? I'm not asking for the solution, but any advice that could help me solve this would be greatly appreciated.

• Strange \n in base64 encoded string in Ruby

  The inbuilt Base64 library in Ruby is adding some '\n's. I'm unable to find out the reason. For this special example: irb(main):001:0> require 'rubygems' => true irb(main):002:0> require 'base64' => true irb(main):003:0> str = "1110--ad6ca0b06e1fbeb7e6518a0418a73a6e04a67054" => "1110--ad6ca0b06e1fbeb7e6518a0418a73a6e04a67054" irb(main):004:0> Base64.encode64(str) => "MTExMC0tYWQ2Y2EwYjA2ZTFmYmViN2U2NTE4YTA0MThhNzNhNmUwNGE2NzA1\nNA==\n" The \n's are at the last and 6th position from end. The decoder (Base64.decode64) returns back the old string perfectly. Strange thing is, these \n's don't add any value to the encoded string. When I remove the newlines from the output string, the decoder decodes it again perfectly. irb(main):005:0> Base64.decode64(Base64.encode64(str).gsub("\n", '')) == str => true More of this, I used an another JS library to produce the base64 encoded output of the same input string, the output comes without the \n's.   Hello, I'm trying to extend two native PHP5 classes (DOMDocument and DOMNode) to implement 2 methods (selectNodes and selectSingleNode) in order to make XPath queries easier. However, the fourth line doesn't work because the selectSingleNode method belongs to the nDOMNode class, not DOMNode. So my question: is there a way at some point to "transform" the returned DOMNode object into a nDOMNode object? I feel I'm missing some essential point here and I'd greatly appreciate your help. HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request in D:\projects........\facebookapi_php5_restlib.php on line 3391 As said, it happens randomly. My app configuration: IFrame Page host configuration: Windows Vista, Apache 2.2.11, PHP 5.1 No support for cURL is possible at the moment. My aim: Get the user's first name & pic_square along with two other preferences. If these two preferences are not set then I'll set them, after doing some internal job. I understand that the REST API is old. Which interface should I use then? Saw FQL, which seem to be fine, but I see no corresponding getUserPreference/setUserPreference interface. Where is it? How do I combine it with the "first name & pic_square" info that I need in one query? How do I read the results of multi-query query? Also, if I understand correctly, the FQL is also executed with the fopen() function, and as we see here it might fail. That means something went wrong, and then I want to handle it. Any suggestions how to do so efficiently? Less important than the above question though. Thank you all.

• sqlite3 JOIN, GROUP_CONCAT using distinct with custom separator

  Given a table of "events" where each event may be associated with zero or more "speakers" and zero or more "terms", those records associated with the events through join tables, I need to produce a table of all events with a column in each row which represents the list of "speaker_names" and "term_names" associated with each event. However, when I run my query, I have duplication in the speaker_names and term_names values, since the join tables produce a row per association for each of the speakers and terms of the events: 1|Soccer|Bobby|Ball 2|Baseball|Bobby - Bobby - Bobby|Ball - Bat - Helmets 3|Football|Bobby - Jane - Bobby - Jane|Ball - Ball - Helmets - Helmets The group_concat aggregate function has the ability to use 'distinct', which removes the duplication, though sadly it does not support that alongside the custom separator, which I really need. I am left with these results: 1|Soccer|Bobby|Ball 2|Baseball|Bobby|Ball,Bat,Helmets 3|Football|Bobby,Jane|Ball,Helmets My question is this: Is there a way I can form the query or change the data structures in order to get my desired results? Keep in mind this is a sqlite3 query I need, and I cannot add custom C aggregate functions, as this is for an Android deployment.
