I am wondering if there is an easy way to keep this popup window (span) JPicker (built on JQuery) on top of other modal windows or divs? Zindex, is there a way to make sure the zindex is always on top?
Thanks
This is probably really stupid but i can't find the problem with my code. It fetches a url that returns json and the function is then supposed to return a string:
function getit() {
var ws_url = 'example.com/test.js';
var user = false;
$.getJSON(ws_url, function(data) {
alert('user '+data.user);//shows john
user = data.user || false;
}
);
return user;//should return john but returns false
}
test.js will have something like this:
{"id":"12","username":"ses","user":"john","error":""}
or like this:
{"error":"123"}
I also tried if(data.user){}else{} but it didn't work either..
So what am i missing?
Thanks :)
In Nodejs, there are virtually no blocking I/O operations. This means that almost all nodejs IO code involves many callbacks. This applies to reading and writing to/from databases, files, processes, etc. A typical example of this is the following:
var useFile = function(filename,callback){
posix.stat(filename).addCallback(function (stats) {
posix.open(filename, process.O_RDONLY, 0666).addCallback(function (fd) {
posix.read(fd, stats.size, 0).addCallback(function(contents){
callback(contents);
});
});
});
};
...
useFile("test.data",function(data){
// use data..
});
I am anticipating writing code that will make many IO operations, so I expect to be writing many callbacks. I'm quite comfortable with using callbacks, but I'm worried about all the recursion. Am I in danger of running into too much recursion and blowing through a stack somewhere? If I make thousands of individual writes to my key-value store with thousands of callbacks, will my program eventually crash?
Am I misunderstanding or underestimating the impact? If not, is there a way to get around this while still using Nodejs' callback coding style?
What I'm trying to do is create a class that I can quickly attach to links, that will fetch and display a thumbnail preview of the document being linked to. Now, I am focusing on ease of use and portability here, I want to simply add a mouseover event to links like this:
<a href="some-document.pdf" onmouseover="new TestClass(this)">Testing</a>
I realize there are other ways I can go about this that would solve my issue here, and I may end up having to do that, but right now my goal is to implement this as above. I don't want to manually add a mouseout event to each link, and I don't want code anywhere other than within the class (and the mouseover event creating the class instance).
The code:
TestClass = new Class({
initialize: function(anchor) {
this.anchor = $(anchor);
if(!this.anchor) return;
if(!window.zzz) window.zzz = 0;
this.id = ++window.zzz;
this.anchor.addEvent('mouseout', function() {
// i need to get a reference to this function
this.hide();
}.bind(this));
this.show();
},
show: function() {
// TODO: cool web 2.0 stuff here!
},
hide: function() {
alert(this.id);
//this.removeEvent('mouseout', ?); // need reference to the function to remove
/*** this works, but what if there are unrelated mouseout events? and the class instance still exists! ***/
//this.anchor.removeEvents('mouseout');
//delete(this); // does not work !
//this = null; // invalid assignment!
//this = undefined; // invalid assignment!
}
});
What currently happens with the above code:
1st time out: alerts 1
2nd time out: alerts 1, 2
3rd time out: alerts 1, 2, 3
etc
Desired behavior:
1st time out: alerts 1
2nd time out: alerts 2
3rd time out: alerts 3
etc
The problem is, each time I mouse over the link, I'm creating a new class instance and appending a new mouseout event for that instance. The class instance also remains in memory indefinitely.
On mouseout I need to remove the mouseout event and destroy the class instance, so on subsequent mouseovers we are starting fresh.
I need to include multiple images in a canvas. I want to load them dynamically via a for-loop.
I tried a lot but in the best case only the last image is displayed. I check this tread but I still get only the last image.
For explanation, here's my latest code(basically the one from the other post):
for (var i = 0; i <= max; i++)
{
thisWidth = 250;
thisHeight = 0;
imgSrc = "photo_"+i+".jpg";
letterImg = new Image();
letterImg.onload = function() {
context.drawImage(letterImg,thisWidth*i,thisHeight);
}
letterImg.src = imgSrc;
}
Any ideas?
My JSON looks like this:
{
"[email protected]":"Person1",
"[email protected]":"Person65",
"[email protected]":"Person24"
}
It's returned in various number of elements, and various keys. How do I traverse the data if my code is like this:
$.post("includes/ajax.php", {
group_id : $('#group').val()
}, function(data) {
//how do i traverse data here?
}, "json");
Any help will be appreciated :)
Thanks!
This is my code:

function htmlid(s) {
return s.gsub(/[^A-Z^a-z^0-9^\-^_^:^\.]/, ".");
}
Why does jslint throw this error?
Lint at line 5 character 25: Unescaped '^'.
return s.gsub(/[^A-Z^a-z^0-9^\-^_^:^\.]/, ".");
I have one two divs and two seperate links that triggers slideDown and slideUp for the divs.
When one of the divs are slided down and I click the other one, I hide the first div (slidingUp) and then open the other div (slidingDown) but, at the moment its like while one div is sliding down, the other, also in the same time, is sliding up.
is there a way that would tell jquery to wait to finish sliding down of one div and only then start sliding up the other ?
I have a custom jquery function that I need to bind to two iframe document objects.
Currently it will work with just one doing something like:
$(window.frames["iframeName"].document).bind('textselect', function(e) {
});
what I'm looking to do is something like:
$(window.frames["iframeName"].document,window.frames["iframeName2"].document).bind('textselect', function(e) {
});
This site has a script that works in all browsers i tested but Chrome, which i think is strange because it is usually IE that acts up. The error console says
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'toLowerCase' of undefined
Uncaught TypeError: Object #<an Object> has no method 'set'
however i don't know what to do with this information. Any ideas?
Hi all,
I've spent a long time trying different things to get this to work but nothing does and documentation is not helping much.
I'm trying to populate a form inside an iframe that I dynamically inject into a page. To inject that iframe I do:
myObject.iframe = document.createElement("iframe");
myObject.iframe.setAttribute("src", data.url);
myObject.iframe.setAttribute("id","extension-iframe");
myObject.window.document.getElementById('publisher').appendChild(myObject.iframe);
myObject.iframe.addEventListener("load", function(){
myObject.populate(data);
}, false);
which works fine and DOES trigger the populate() method. My problem is getting the document or window objects for that iframe. I've tried all of the following:
myObject.iframe.window
myObject.iframe.document
myObject.iframe.content
but these are all undefined.
I also tried passing the event object to that iframe's load event listener and then doing:
event.originalTarget
But that didn't work either.
I am reading the following documentation:
https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Working%5Fwith%5Fwindows%5Fin%5Fchrome%5Fcode
https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Code%5Fsnippets/Interaction%5Fbetween%5Fprivileged%5Fand%5Fnon-privileged%5Fpages
But either I'm not understanding it or it's just not properly explained.
Can anyone shed some light?
Thanks!
I have one website here that contains videos to see, like youtube, and the videos are divided in pages, and in the source of this page I got this part of the source:
<input type="hidden" value="12" id="vid_count">
<input type="hidden" value="422" id="vid_max">
<input type="hidden" value="12" id="vids_per_page">
The site contains 422 videos with 36 pages, 12 videos per page
I need to show all videos in only one page...
I've already tried
document.getElementById("vids_per_page").setAttribute("value", "500");
but this doesn't work...
How can I do it? (via greasemonkey)
any additional info?
as far as i read from here, the fact that captchas are not 100% secure.what can be used instead of capcha?,as a programmer what do you think? how to solve this issue?
Hello,
I am currently trying to find the parent of a parent of an element. I have a link being clicked that is in a <td>, and I'd like to get the <tr> object.
Why wont "$(this).parent().parent()" work? What will?
Thanks,
Brendan
Edit: It appears an error in my syntax was throwing the whole thing off. "$(this).parent().parent()" does in fact work, but I wound up going with $(this).closest('tr')" because it seems like the most efficient solution.
My extension works on an application, which requires user login. Once the user has logged in, I need to read the cookies and use them in my XMLHttpRequests.
So initially I need to check if the cookie is set, if not, I direct the user to the login page. Once logged in, I need to read the cookies and send it as part of my further requests.
How do I read cookies from a XMLHttpRequest or otherwise (if we don't even know the name of the cookie)
There is to function as getRequestHeader.. but what I need is something like that.
I am trying to use twitter bootstrap to get the manufacturers from my DB.
Because twitter bootstrap typeahead does not support ajax calls I am using this fork:
https://gist.github.com/1866577
In that page there is this comment that mentions how to do exactly what I want to do. The problem is when I run my code I keep on getting:
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'toLowerCase' of undefined
I googled around and came tried changing my jquery file to both using the minified and non minified as well as the one hosted on google code and I kept getting the same error.
My code currently is as follows:
$('#manufacturer').typeahead({
source: function(typeahead, query){
$.ajax({
url: window.location.origin+"/bows/get_manufacturers.json",
type: "POST",
data: "",
dataType: "JSON",
async: false,
success: function(results){
var manufacturers = new Array;
$.map(results.data.manufacturers, function(data, item){
var group;
group = {
manufacturer_id: data.Manufacturer.id,
manufacturer: data.Manufacturer.manufacturer
};
manufacturers.push(group);
});
typeahead.process(manufacturers);
}
});
},
property: 'name',
items:11,
onselect: function (obj) {
}
});
on the url field I added the
window.location.origin
to avoid any problems as already discussed on another question
Also before I was using $.each() and then decided to use $.map() as recomended Tomislav Markovski in a similar question
Anyone has any idea why I keep getting this problem?!
Thank you
Hi folks,
One of the ad agencies I code for had me set up an alternate scrolling solution because you know how designers hate things that just work but aren't beautiful.
So, this is married in places to their CMS. What I have not been able to sort yet is how to hide the scrolling UI when overflow:auto is not triggered by the CMS content.
Any ideas?
TIA
JG
Hi,
I want to find out the zoom level of what is being displayed in a browser window based on the javascripts' window object properties (http://www.javascriptkit.com/jsref/window.shtml) to which I have access. I just can't seem to find the right mathematical formula for the zoom based on the inner width, page offset, etc. I found a solution, but that uses the document.body.getBoundingClientRect call which does not return anything in my case and for which I can't tell if there's a suitable replacement from the window properties. I am using Safari.
Thank you,
Mihai
Hi all,
I have a complex page that has several user controls like galleries, maps, ads etc.
I've tried optimising them by ensuring full separation of html/css/js, placing js at the bottom of the page and trying to ensure I have well written code in all 3 but alas I still have a slow page. It's not really noticeable to a modern browser but can see the stats and IE6/7.
So I'm now looking to do what we've done previously for Adtech flash crap - an iframe. Apart from the SEO impact which I'm not worried about in the case of these controls, what do people think of this as an approach? PROS and CONS please.
Thanks,
Denis
I have the following input:
Hi! How are you? <script>//NOT EVIL!</script>
Wassup? :P
LOOOL!!! :D :D :D
Which is then run through emoticon library and it become this:
Hi! How are you? <script>//NOT EVIL!</script>
Wassup? <img class="smiley" alt="" title="tongue, :P" src="ui/emoticons/15.gif">
LOOOL!!! <img class="smiley" alt="" title="big grin, :D" src="ui/emoticons/5.gif"> <img class="smiley" alt="" title="big grin, :P" src="ui/emoticons/5.gif"> <img class="smiley" alt="" title="big grin, :P" src="ui/emoticons/5.gif">
I have a function that escapes HTML entites to prevent XSS. So running it on raw input for the first line would produce:
Hi! How are you? <script>//NOT EVIL!</script>
Now I need to escape all the input, but at the same time I need to preserve emoticons in their initial state. So when there is <:-P emoticon, it stays like that and does not become <:-P.
I was thinking of running a regex split on the emotified text. Then processing each part on its own and then concatenating the string together, but I am not sure how easily can Regex be bypassed? I know the format will always be this:
[<img class="smiley" alt="]
[empty string]
[" title="]
[one of the values from a big list]
[, ]
[another value from the list (may be matching original emoticon)]
[" src="ui/emoticons/]
[integer from Y to X]
[.gif">]
Using the list MAY be slow, since I need to run that regex on text that may have 20-30-40 emoticons. Plus there may be 5-10-15 text messages to process. What could be an elegant solution to this? I am ready to use third-party library or jQuery for this. PHP preprocessing is possible as well.
TLDR: I have an Openlayers map with a layer called 'track' I want to remove track and add track back in. Or figure out how to plot a triangle based off one set of coords & a heading(see below).
I have an image 'imageFeature' on a layer that rotates on load to the direction being set. I want it to update this rotation that is set in 'styleMap' on a layer called 'tracking'.
I set the var 'stylemap' to apply the external image & rotation.
The 'imageFeature' is added to the layer at the coords specified.
'imageFeature' is removed.
'imageFeature' is added again in its new location. Rotation is not applied..
As the 'styleMap' applies to the layer I think that I have to remove the layer and add it again rather than just the 'imageFeature'
Layer:
var tracking = new OpenLayers.Layer.GML("Tracking", "coordinates.json",
{ format: OpenLayers.Format.GeoJSON,
styleMap: styleMap
});
styleMap:
var styleMap = new OpenLayers.StyleMap({
fillOpacity: 1,
pointRadius: 10,
rotation: heading,
});
Now wrapped in a timed function the imageFeature:
map.layers[3].addFeatures(new OpenLayers.Feature.Vector(
new OpenLayers.Geometry.Point(longitude, latitude), {rotation: heading, type: parseInt(Math.random() * 3)}
));
Type refers to a lookup of 1 of 3 images.:
styleMap.addUniqueValueRules("default", "type", lookup);
var lookup = {
0: {externalGraphic: "Image1.png", rotation: heading},
1: {externalGraphic: "Image2.png", rotation: heading},
2: {externalGraphic: "Image3.png", rotation: heading}
}
I have tried the 'redraw()' function: but it returns "tracking is undefined" or "map.layers[2]" is undefined.
tracking.redraw(true);
map.layers[2].redraw(true);
Heading is a variable: from a JSON feed.
var heading = 13.542;
But so far can't get anything to work it will only rotate the image onload. The image will move in coordinates as it should though.
So what am I doing wrong with the redraw function or how can I get this image to rotate live?
Thanks in advance
-Ozaki
Add: I managed to get
map.layers[2].redraw(true);
to sucessfully redraw layer 2. But it still does not update the rotation. I am thinking because the stylemap is updating. But it runs through the style map every n sec, but no updates to rotation and the variable for heading is updating correctly if i put a watch on it in firebug.
If I were to draw a triangle with an array of points & linestring.
How would I go about facing the triangle towards the heading.
I have the Lon/lat of one point and the heading.
var points = new Array(
new OpenLayers.Geometry.Point(lon1, lat1),
new OpenLayers.Geometry.Point(lon2, lat2),
new OpenLayers.Geometry.Point(lon3, lat3)
);
var line = new OpenLayers.Geometry.LineString(points);
Looking for any way to solve this problem Image or Line anyone know how to do either added a 100rep bounty I am really stuck with this.
I have Windows Application (.EXE file is written in C and built with MS-Visual Studio), that outputs ASCII text to stdout. I’m looking to enhance the ASCII text to include limited HTML with a few links. I’d like to invoke this application (.EXE File) and take the output of that application and pipe it into a Browser. This is not a one time thing, each new web page would be another run of the Local Application!
The HTML/java-script application below has worked for me to execute the application, but the output has gone into a DOS Box windows and not to pipe it into the Browser. I’d like to update this HTML Application to enable the Browser to capture that text (that is enhanced with HTML) and display it with the browser.
<body>
<script>
function go() {
w = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell");
w.run('C:/DL/Browser/mk_html.exe');
return true;
}
</script>
<form>
Run My Application (Window with explorer only)
<input type="button" value="Go"
onClick="return go()">
</FORM>
</body>
I know there is a way to retrieve the coordinates by clicking on the map, using specifically
document.getElementById("lonTb").value=point.x;
document.getElementById("latTb").value=point.y;
Firstly, i have a html file namely MapToolKit.html, a mapGPS.js and a mapSearch.js.
how do i input the coordinates returns into the js? I just need to be able to click the map for coordinates, not neccessary the search returns.
Here's the file which i uploaded. http://www.mediafire.com/?0minqxgwzmx
I'm using bxcarousel to show a bunch of images. Each image has a tooltip, which I display using qtip.
This works fine for the first round, but when the images come round a second time the tooltips don't show anymore (because bxcarousel removes an element that slides out and puts it back at the end)
An example of the carousel can be found here:
http://www.kipdola.be/carousel/carousel.html
This is the code used to bind the events (maybe it needs a "live" function somewhere?)
// Create the tooltips only on document load
$(document).ready(function()
{
// Use the each() method to gain access to each elements attributes
$('#shopcarousel a[rel]').each(function()
{
$(this).qtip(
