  • Website: Make printable version with footnotes?

    I have a website that uses editable divs so that a user can modify or make notes to a text. Is there a way I can have the website generate a pdf or some printable document with footnotes, such that if a user has this: <div class="text" id="text_1"> <div class="bodyTest">This is the body text</div> <div class="notes">These are the notes</div> </div> <div class="text" id="text_2"> <div class="bodyTest">This is the body text</div> <div class="notes">These are the notes</div> </div> the website will generate a printable version (or document) in such a way thatdiv.notes will appear as a footnote on the same page on which div#text_1 appears?   • Mobile web on nokia devices not displaying centain elements

    So i have a site which is rendered with our in-house portal engine. It resizes images and adjusts style-sheets automatically in real-time. Issue is that some html elements are inexplicably disappearing due to what only can be described as HTML compatibility. But the problem is not consistent. And only seems to be an issue on some nokia devices. I have tried to install the Nokia Mobile Browser Emulator... but its the worst piece of software i have seen in my life... after 4 hours of installing and uninstalling different versions of JRE, i still can't get it to install.     I have a login-protected website. It's an internal application and it's not avaiable to the general public hence it's not indexed by any search engine. My application is developed on the Google App Engine. I would like to add a search engine but obviously without the need to public index it. There's any solution avaiable from Google/Bing/Others for a situation like this? Have you done this before? What solution did you chose and what are yours results?

  • Best way for cross browser applications

    In our organization, we are still on .net 1.1 environment, using javascript, a few open source applications/widgets. Development is done using Visual Studio 2003, grid view, and iframes. Our application works in Internet Explorer 7 and IE 8 (in compatibilily mode). Can anyone give any basic steps we can take to get our application to work cross browsers? What are the starting locations we can get at to start making existing code work in different browsers?

  • Looking for a lean WYSIWYG inline editor for CMS projects that includes an image upload feature?

    Hey guys, I am looking to find a lean WYSIWYG inline editor. The main required feature is image uploading. A simple way to upload an image to the server and use it in the content being editted. I have come across a whole bunch of editors but nothing I liked so far. I am looking for something open source and free. So far I have checked out TinyMCE which is free.. untill you need image uploading capabilities. Ckeditor looks great.. uses jquery.. but requires you to have your own server side script to upload images. They barely give any documentation on how to do this. There were a few others, but the bottom line was that I cant find anything that is simple with out of the box image uploading capabilities. Thanks for any advice you may give!

The layout looks somewhat broken in the browser, and most of my projects require features not present in IE's codebase. I would like to know if you support my view, or if you share views with those who downvoted my answer.

  • Is it possible to redirect non-HTML files with HTTP? And chaining redirects?

    Hello, I have been thinking about a neat way of load balancing and one thing that would be required is to be capable of loading an image on an HTML page from multiple locations without rewriting the URL(on each load) So what I need to be able to do is have one URL which is the "static" URL. Such as http://example.com/myimage.png The image is not actually contained in example.com though. So example.com does a either a 302 or 301 or 307 HTTP response to cause a redirect to 2.example.com. How do browsers handle this with images like in this situation? Also, how do browsers handle multiple redirections for instance if 2.example.com also didn't contain it and it went to 3.example.com ? (Note, I am asking this because I've never seen a 301 redirect on anything but an HTML page) Also, which status code would be best to use. 301 means "moved permanently" which this "move" isn't permanent so I don't want it cached. Should I use 307? Is that supported by search engines and modern browsers?

I went in Billing Management Console/Bills section where when I click on Date, I can see months ranging from July 2013 to Nov 2013. From AWS FAQs I gathered When does the AWS free usage tier expire? The AWS free usage tier will expire 12 months from the date you sign up. So WHEN will my account expire, July 2014 (sign up date) or Oct 2014 (credit card details submission date) ?

    I've looked at Amazon S3 and it costs roughly $4746 per month for 100 megabits/s (which translates into 31,640 Gigabytes of data transferred. That's at a rate of $0.15 per gig.) I haven't found a cheaper "cloud" option. I'm curious if there's any other cloud hosting option out there cheaper than S3. Uptime is not an issue because I can build failover for most things into the browser. e.g. I can use javascript to say "if the image didn't load then go to this other URL instead." FYI I'm currently using a colocation facility which is about 30% cheaper than S3 and I'm familiar with colo prices - so this question is really about "cloud" services and by that I mean services where I don't have to worry about the infrastructure.

  • slideDown() Makes Everything in Wrapper Shift

    Hello everyone, I am currently creating a simple menu where there are several names of services and a user can click on one and jQuery will show it's corresponding paragraph describing it below it. My jQuery code is fine and does exactly what I want, however, I have one bug I have yet to iron out. Whenever I click one of these headings and it's description displays, everything in the wrapper for the page shifts to the left about 7 pixels in Firefox, it does the same thing is Google Chrome however I have not measured the amout but I am sure it is irrelevant. Anyways, I am using the slideToggle() command to show the hidden parragraph. I assume this is occuring because when the slideDown occurs it is somehow changing the width of everything and the "margin: 0 auto;" setting for the wrapper rule in my css is compensating for this change. Does anyone have any way I can remedy this problem? I have tried several other fixes I've found around the internet but to no avail.
