What can I do to fix this quickly?

  • Rewrite query string "?x=y" style to "/x/y" style

    I have a PHP MVC framework I've built from scratch which uses the traditional domain.com/controller/action URL routing. While I'm currently handling the below conversion in the router I'd like to replace them in the URL for cosmetic reasons. For example: controller/action?filter=bank Becomes: controller/action/filter/bank I've done a bit of experimentation with a regex but can't seem to find a match. I'm also not sure how to rewrite it using RewriteCond. Thanks in advance.

    I want to display a website embedded in my own site and modify the DOM (e.g. change a button's color/size), similar to what Firebug is capable of. I'm aware of the security issues that arise - my plan is to use this approach to do live website usability testing (A/B style).   • How do I reattach to Ubuntu Server's 'do-release-upgrade' process?

    I accidentally pressed Ctrl+C during Ubuntu Server's do-release-upgrade process. I'd dropped to a shell to compare a .conf file in /etc/. When I pressed Ctrl-C, it asked whether I wanted to try to reattach to the upgrade process, but it failed to do so. So I quit, and now there's a hanging dpkg process which is holding onto the apt lock. This is a virtualised server with no GUI frontend... Is it possible to recover the upgrade process, or do I have to kill the dpkg process and start again? UPDATE:- AFAICT, there was no way to reattach to the upgrade process. However, it wasn't a disaster at all. I killed the hanging dpkg process, and then ran dpkg --configure -a. This walks you through reconfiguring all packages already installed on the system, tidying up any problems whilst it does so. After that, I used aptitude to upgrade the remaining packages, which had already been downloaded, but hadn't been installed or configured.

    Since most operating systems I've heard of besides Windows seem to derive their heritage from Unix, I've been curious whether any OS's with the following characteristics exist: Not generally considered Unix-like, i.e. wasn't designed with Unix compatibility as a primary goal, doesn't use X11 as its default GUI in the most common distributions, doesn't support Unix commands by default, etc. Not in the Windows NT family. Is a modern production operating system, not a purely legacy operating system, a research/hobby project or an OS that's still in an alpha state. Is targeted at commodity x86/x64 PC hardware.

  • ubuntu12.04 hangs at checking battery state

    My 12.04 system hangs at "Checking battery state". At this stage, no commands work eg: ctrl+alt+f1, alt+f5. I ran recovery mode, I ran the command sudo mount -o remount, rw sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm and gdm was the only one installed so I didn't get a GUI screen. I have an integrated graphics card "Intel Corporation Mobile 4 chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)". So I cannot install nvidia drivers as everyone else suggests. I have gone through several similar questions but everyone suggests reconfiguring gdm or reinstalling graphic drivers. I did sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade to get the latest x-swat drivers. The system still hung at the same line. The other option is to reinstall ubuntu, which is out of the question, since we have a very specific install for our project where the settings are very hard to duplicate. Suggestions/Comments welcome.

  • How to make sure rsync sets proper file permissions?

    I'm transfering data from a synology box to a debian box with rsync. Unfortunately the permissions of all transfered files are set to rwxrwxrwx on the debian box. I want to make sure this files can be seen by the owning user only. Is there a way to tell the debian box to set the permissions to something like rwx------? The rsync job is set-up through the DSM GUI. If possible I'd rather avoid hacking the synology box and do something on the command line. This means I'm looking for a way to set the permissions on the server side (debian box). I'm using the latest DSM version (4.1).

  • How can I launch RemoteApp on Windows Server from server itself at startup

    I have Windows Server 2008 R2 with RDS and custom desktop (GUI) application installed on the server. The app is started as RemoteApp on server by user from his desktop computer (or, sometimes, he can work from notebook over VPN). Some details about environment: the server automatically shuts down every evening and automatically power-on every morning (this is a requirement) desktop application do some precalculations/precaching on startup and it can take lot of time mentioned application have some memory leaks, so I can't use hibernate instead of shutdown When user launching this app from his computer, he can't start work with it until this app finishes pre-initialization. Is there any way to start RemoteApp session at the server startup (without actual user logon), so that the user could connect to this session from his computer later? I don't want to involve the user's computer to make it work. I have tried to do it by Windows startup script, but have no luck - starting RDP session requires actual user session.

  • .NET unit test runner outputting FaultException.Detail

    Hello, I am running some unit tests on a WCF service. The service is configured to include exception details in the fault response (with the following in my service configuration file). <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="true" /> If a test causes an unhandled exception on the server the fault is received by the client with a fully populated server stack trace. I can see this by calling the exception's ToString() method. The problem is that this doesn't seem to be output by any of the test runners that I have tried (xUnit, Gallio, MSTest). They appear to just output the Message and the StackTrace properties of the exception. To illustrate what I mean, the following unit test run by MSTest would output three sections: Error Message Error Stack Trace Standard Console Output (contains the information I would like, e.g. "Fault Detail is equal to An ExceptionDetail, likely created by IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults=true, whose value is: ..." try { service.CallMethodWhichCausesException(); } catch (Exception ex) { Console.WriteLine(ex); // this outputs the information I would like throw; } Having this information will make the initial phase of testing and deployment a lot less painful. I know I can just wrap each unit test in a generic exception handler and write the exception to the console and rethrow (as above) within all my unit tests but that seems a very long-winded way of achieving this (and would look pretty awful). Does anyone know if there's any way to get this information included for free whenever an unhandled exception occurs? Is there a setting that I am missing? Is my service configuration lacking in proper fault handling? Perhaps I could write some kind of plug-in / adapter for some unit testing framework? Perhaps theres a different unit testing framework which I should be using instead! My actual set-up is xUnit unit tests executed via Gallio for the development environment, but I do have a separate suite of "smoke tests" written which I would like to be able to have our engineers run via the xUnit GUI test runner (or Gallio or whatever) to simplify the final deployment.     Possible Duplicate: What is the easiest video editing program to use on Windows hi, i want to edit videos, i'm looking for a good, premiere like software. but it seems premiere it self is too much for me... frankly i can see how those settings can be helpful for any one.. but it doesn't matter. i've just imported an HD video from my new camera (CS4), first, it cut most of the video, and second, it actually made the quality worse... i've tried a few free, programs, but as soon as i've seen the GUI of those, i closed them... i really like premier, but i honestly don't understand who needs all this PAL/DV stuff... is there any similar application that intend to more intermediate users? tahnks.

  • Booting a Windows 7 installation on different hardware

    I'm in a situation where I could do with very quickly migrating a Windows 7 (RTM x64) installation from one machine to another. What options are open to me in terms of getting W7 to boot after the drive is picked up and moved from one box to another? I thought it was supposed to be a little less sensitive to this kind of move than XP, but it doesn't work - it is stuck in a reboot loop and never reaches a GUI. Tried a few things so far, none of which have worked: Changed SATA mode in the BIOS of the target machine between ATA and AHCI run Windows 7 Startup Repair tried safe mode, no change (I will keep this list up to date as suggestions come in) UPDATE: I can confirm this reboot loop is due to STOP error 0x0000007B, and these codes follow: 0xFFFFF880009A98E8 0xFFFFFFFFC0000034 0x0000000000000000 0x0000000000000000 UPDATE: I didn't get anywhere on this and I ended up just rebuilding the machine. I think it should be theoretically possible, so I'm going to leave the question open in case someone comes along in future with an answer.
