• ActionScript/Flex ArrayCollection of Number objects to Java Collection<Long> using BlazeDS

  Hello, I am using Flex 3 and make a call through a RemoteObject to a Java 1.6 method and exposed with BlazeDS and Spring 2.5.5 Integration over a SecureAMFChannel. The ActionScript is as follows (this code is an example of the real thing which is on a separate dev network); import com.adobe.cairngorm.business.ServiceLocator; import mx.collections.ArrayCollection; import mx.rpc.remoting.RemoteObject; import mx.rpc.IResponder; public class MyClass implements IResponder { private var service:RemoteObject = ServiceLocator.getInstance().getRemoteOjbect("mySerivce"); public MyClass() { [ArrayElementType("Number")] private var myArray:ArrayCollection; var id1:Number = 1; var id2:Number = 2; var id3:Number = 3; myArray = new ArrayCollection([id1, id2, id3]); getData(myArray); } public function getData(myArrayParam:ArrayCollection):void { var token:AsyncToken = service.getData(myArrayParam); token.addResponder(this.responder); //Assume responder implementation method exists and works } } This will make a call, once created to the service Java class which is exposed through BlazeDS (assume the mechanics work because they do for all other calls not involving Collection parameters). My Java service class looks like this; public class MySerivce { public Collection<DataObjectPOJO> getData(Collection<Long> myArrayParam) { //The following line is never executed and throws an exception for (Long l : myArrayParam) { System.out.println(l); } } } The exception that is thrown is a ClassCastException saying that a java.lang.Integer cannot be cast to a java.lang.Long. I worked around this issue by looping through the collection using Object instead, checking to see if it is an Integer, cast it to one, then do a .longValue() on it then add it to a temp ArraList. Yuk. The big problem is my application is supposed to handle records in the billions from a DB and the id will overflow the 2.147 billion limit of an integer. I would love to have BlazeDS or the JavaAdapter in it, translate the ActionScript Number to a Long as specified in the method. I hate that even though I use the generic the underlying element type of the collection is an Integer. If this was straight Java, it wouldn't compile. Any ideas are appreciated. Solutions are even better! :)

• IE7 not digesting JSON: "parse error" [resolved]

  While trying to GET a JSON, my callback function is NOT firing. $.ajax({ type:"GET", dataType:'json', url: myLocalURL, data: myData, success: function(returned_data){alert('success');} }); The strangest part of this is that my JSON(s) validates on JSONlint this ONLY fails on IE7...it works in Safari, Chrome, and all versions of Firefox, (EDIT: and even in IE8). If I use 'error', then it reports "parseError"...even though it validates! Is there anything that I'm missing? Does IE7 not process certain characters, data structures (my data doesn't have anything non-alphanumeric, but it DOES have nested JSONs)? I have used tons of other AJAX calls that all work (even in IE7), but with the exception of THIS call. An example data return (EDIT: This is a structurally-complete example, meaning it is only missing a few second-tier fields, but follows this exact hierarchy)here is: {"question":{ "question_id":"19", "question_text":"testing", "other_crap":"none" }, "timestamp":{ "response":"answer", "response_text":"the text here" } } I am completely at a loss. Hopefully someone has some insight into what's going on...thank you! ANSWER I finally managed to figure it out...mostly via tedious trial-and-error. I want to thank everyone for their suggestions...as soon as I have 15 rep, I'll upvote you, I promise. :) There was basically no way that you guys could have figured it out, because the issue turned out to be a strange bug between IE7 and Django (my research didn't bring up any similar issues). We were basically using Django template language to generate our JSON...and in the midst of this particular JSON, we were using custom template tags: {% load customfilter %} { "question":{ "question_id":"{{question.id}}", "question_text":"{{question.question_text|customfilterhere}}" } } As soon as I deleted anything related to the customfilter, IE7 was able to parse the JSON perfectly!   Hi, I wrote a stateless EJB method allowing to get an entity in "read-only" mode. The way to do this is to get the entity with the EntityManager then detach it (using the JPA 2.0 EntityManager).   When debugging a link error (undefined reference to _dso_handle) using the Android x86 toolchain, I noticed it's statically linking crtbegin_dynamic.o. What is the purpose of this file? There is another similar crtbegin.o in the toolchain install directory that contains the missing symbol (_dso_handle). What is the difference between crtbegin.o and crtbegin_dynamic.o?

  Using the NerdDinner 2.0 source code, I was trying to emulate its use of OpenID. All was fine and good until I ran into this line of code.. ( seen in the source code at : http://nerddinner.codeplex.com/sourcecontrol/network/Show?projectName=nerddinner&changeSetId=46375#952606 ) - ( trunk/nerddinner/services/OpenIdRelyingPartyService.cs ) public ActionResult ProcessAjaxOpenIdResponse() { return relyingParty.ProcessAjaxOpenIdResponse().AsActionResult(); } ProcessAjaxOpenIdResponse doesn't exist, though! If I download the nerddinner application and follow the dependancies, I can see that the OpenAuth library they use has this method. However, getting the newest version from http://www.dotnetopenauth.net/ - the library does not have this method. Any ideas on what happened to it, and what I should use instead?

If retrieving the album cover fails for some reason the object is filled with a default image and then added. The last line of the code is what's showing up in the crash log. It runs fine in the simulator but crashes 100% in testing on device apparently. Can anyone tell me what I am missing here?

• Matlab and .NET Interaction

  Hi All! I'm having an issue interacting between Matlab and .NET. I've managed to call .NET methods from Matlab code and vice versa. However, if I call a .NET method that, in turn, instantiates a Matlab object, it crashes (with a type initialization exception). Think about this scenario: a .NET assembly is interacting with a Matlab dll that was deployed for .NET (not native) by Matlab's deploytool. Now, when I'm loading the above .NET dll in a Matlab program everything is ok until I run a method that utilizes the other Matlab dll. Only then everything crashes. The exact message is: Warning: Cannot initialize MATLAB Compiler-generated software component in MATLAB. MATLAB Compiler-generated software components cannot be used from within MATLAB. Please don't offer not to use Matlab-.NET-Matlab architecture, it's not an option. Thank you very much (I promise to accept the answer that solves the problem :-)), Yaron.

• Android GPS timeout

  I'm writing an Android application that, among other things, needs to send the current GPS coordinates to a server when the user tells it to. From a context menu, I run the service below. The service is a LocationListener and requests updates from the LocationManager. When it gets a location (onLocationChanged()), it removes itself as a listener and sends the coordinates off to the server. All of this is working. However, if GPS coordinates are not quickly available, my service just keeps running until it gets some. It holds up the UI with a progress dialog, which is annoying. Worse, if the user has moved since starting the service, the first GPS coordinates might be wrong and the app will send bad data to the server. I need a timeout on the service. Is there a good way to do that? I'm not very experienced with threads. I think I can run a Runnable in the onStartCommand() method that will somehow count down 30 seconds and then, if there is no GPS result yet, call my service's stop() method. Does that sound like the best way to do this? Alternatively, is it possible to tell if the GPS cannot get a fix? How would I go about doing that?   I'm new to WPF 3D, so I may just be missing something obvious, but how do I convert from 3D to 2D and (for a given z location) from 2D to 3D? Specifically, I need two conversion methods: Point3DToPoint - If I have an (x, y, z) coordinate in the 3D world, how do I determine the (x, y) coordinate on the projected 2D surface. Method signature: public Point Point3DToPoint(Point3D point3D) PointAndZToPoint3D - If I have an (x, y) coordinate on the projected 2D surface and a z location in the 3D world, how do I determine the intersecting (x, y, z) coordinate in the 3D world? Method signature: public Point3D PointAndZToPoint3D(Point point, double z) I'd like the 2D coordinate to be the location measured from the upper-left corner of Viewport3D and the 3D coordinate to be the location relative to the origin (0, 0, 0) of the 3D world. Note 1: I found this related question, but it only addresses conversion from 3D to 2D (not the reverse), and I'm not sure if the answers are up-to-date. • Entity Framework SaveChanges error details

  When saving changes with SaveChanges on a data context is there a way to determine which Entity causes an error? For example, sometimes I'll forget to assign a date to a non-nullable date field and get "Invalid Date Range" error, but I get no information about which entity or which field it's caused by (I can usually track it down by painstakingly going through all my objects, but it's very time consuming). Stack trace is pretty useless as it only shows me an error at the SaveChanges call without any additional information as to where exactly it happened. Note that I'm not looking to solve any particular problem I have now, I would just like to know in general if there's a way to tell which entity/field is causing a problem.   Hi, I am working on adding In-App purchases to my app. I am able to receive the productsRequest:didReceiveResponse method, and receive the array of products. My problem arises when I add a SKPayment to the SKPaymentQueue. After I add the product to the queue, in the paymentQueue:updatedTransactions method the transactions always have the state SKPaymentTransactionStateFailed. I NSLog the "transaction.error" and this is what it returns: Error Domain=SKErrorDomain Code=0 UserInfo=0x165000 "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" I have logged out of the Store in the Settings app, but after trying to purchase a product in my app it never asks me to log in with my test account. • Problem Using POI To Set CellStyleProperty With HSSFCellUtil

  I have a Java class which uses Apache POI to generate reports in Excel. When I run the Java class from my IDE or command prompt, I only see warning messages from LOG4J as below: log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (org.apache.commons.beanutils.converters.BooleanConverter). log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly. log4j:WARN See http://logging.apache.org/log4j/1.2/faq.html#noconfig for more info. Despite the warning messages, the report was generated successfully. But when I run it from my web app, which uses JSP and submits the form to a Servlet which calls the Java class, the Java class seems to have problems setting the style properties to the cell. Below are the Java code and also the stack trace. I'm testing this on a Standalone OC4J and the IDE which I'm using is Oracle's JDeveloper. And the Java JDK is 1.4.2. I've been looking high and low the whole day yesterday but can't seem to find out why. However, when using SetWindowLong my application will never receive the CDDS_ITEMPREPAINT and so my slider just looks like a standard slider. The application crashes when any sort of interaction takes place upon the slider, such as hovering over it or minimizing and maximizing the dialog. I snipped the TBCD_CHANNEL code as it is never reached. • How to convert a winforms project to wpf project

  I converted a Winforms project by hand-editing the proj file. Changed project type guids and added an application definition section, and now I can add WPF Windows, Pages, etc. to the project. One thing that doesn't work is, the files I added do not have autogenerated cs files, and every new window component are missing their InitializeComponent method. Any ideas?

As result IEXPLORAR remain running. What is the problem? Of course it is possible to just kill the process like this: // Id of IEXPLORAR _ie.ProcessID Process.GetProcessById(_processId).Kill(); this._ie = null; But I don't really like this way... Any ideas?

• how to disable a jqgrid select list (dropdown) on the edit form

  This is strange and any alternative method to what I want to accomplish is welcome. My app uses the jqgrid 3.5.3 and I need to disable a select list on my edit form. When I do so using the code displayed below it breaks the edit form - meaning I can not cancel or submit it. Thanks. This code is in the edit options array of the navGrid method. The the dropdown is the 'serv_descr' field. The others are text boxes and don't pose a problem. • Create a Chrome instance in WatiN

  I have been using WatiN with IE with great success, however am now wanting to move onto Chrome. It seems to me that if I can just create an instance of a Chrome browser it should be a similar process, but creating an instance of Chrome is proving to be a tricky task. I am currently looking at: WatiN.Core.Native.Chrome.ChromeBrowser Am I on the right track? Or am I missing assemblies for a WatiN.Core.Chrome?
