  • how to get the value of an php array in jQuery

    - by user1933824
i have a PHP code that will obtain the total images of a certain website via CURL, and put it inside an PHP loop. $z=1; for ($i=0;$i<=sizeof($images_array);$i++) { ....<img src = "$images_array[$i]" id="$z"> .. $z++; } a user can then scan through the array with a prev/next button and the current image being shown will be displayed in my $('$current_image').val(1); $.post("curl_fetch.php?url="+ extracted_url, { }, function(response){ $('#loader').html($(response).fadeIn('slow')); $('#current_image').val(1); // insert loop value in .val() when i click a button, i want to get the value of the array, and not the loop value $(function() { $(document).on('click','.submit', function () { var img = $('#current_image').val(); //get the array value, not the loop value alert(img); });}); now, how do i properly get the array value in my $('#current_image').val(1); in Jquery.

  • jQuery Toggle Help

    - by Cameron
    I have the following code: $(document).ready(function() { // Manage sidebar category display jQuery("#categories > ul > li.cat-item").each(function(){ var item; if ( jQuery(this).has("ul").length ) { item = jQuery("<span class='plus'>+</span>").click(function(e){ jQuery(this) .text( jQuery(this).text() === "+" ? "-" : "+" ) .parent().next().toggle(); return false; }); jQuery(this).find(".children").hide(); } else { item = jQuery("<span class='plus'>&nbsp;</span>"); } jQuery(this).children("a").prepend( item ); }); }); This creates a sort of toggle system for my categories. But it will only work with 2 levels deep, what I need it to do is work with unlimited levels.

  • Avoiding sub-type selection in view code

    - by John Donoghue
Hi, I have some code where the model contains some classes like (vb.net pseudocode, but could be any OO language): Enum AttributeType Boolean Date String End Enum MustInherit Class Attibute Must Override Function Type As AttributeType End Class Class BooleanAttribute: Attribute Function Type As AttributeType Return AttributeType.Boolean End Function End Class And the view contains some code like: Select Case AttributeType Case Boolean //Display checkbox control Case Date //Display date picker control Case String //Display textbox control End Select I don't really like the code in the view, for the hopefully obvious reasons (what happens when I get a new attribute type etc). My question is, how should I replace it? I could easily add a method to the concrete classes, but that pollutes the model with UI stuff so that's a horrible idea. I could move the select into a factory, but that seems to be just hiding the problem. Can anybody advise a better approach?

  • python equivalent of filter() getting two output lists

    - by FX
Let's say I have a list, and a filtering function. Using something like >>> filter(lambda x: x > 10, [1,4,12,7,42]) [12, 42] I can get the elements matching the criterion. Is there a function I could use that would output two lists, one of elements matching, one of the remaining elements? I could call the filter() function twice, but that's kinda ugly :) Edit: the order of elements should be conserved, and I may have identical elements multiple times.

  • crontable OR conditions

    - by matt
Crontable parameters seem to function as 'ands' conditions. So the example 0 9-5 * * 1-5 Runs when the conditions are met "minute is zero AND hour is between 9 and 5 AND day is between monday and friday". What I'd like is an 'or' function, so I can say "run monday to friday OR the 8th day of the month". Does such a thing exist? I realise you could add two entries, but with lots of entries it adds something to forget.

  • How to put buttons in a html page in a jQuery dialog

    - by Robert
eHello everyone, the following is my code to display a jquery dialog window with a closing button "OK": <script type="text/javascript"> $(function(){$("#dialog").dialog({autoOpen:false,bgiframe:true,buttons: { "OK": function() { $(this).dialog("close"); } }, width:500, height: 350, modal: true, show: 'slide', hide:'slide', title:"Similar Trends Detected in 2nd DataSet"}); $("#userid").focus(); }); function showForm(matches){ $("#dialog").html(matches).dialog("open");} Currently it runs by supplying a string variable "matches",then the content of the variable gets displayed on the dialog frame. Now me and my teammate want to extend this dialog a little,we want to attach a button to every line inside the html content("matches" variable),please note that we don't want buttons in the dialog(like another "OK" button),but we want buttons "inside" the frame (the actual html content). So I would like some help here, how could I modify my "matches" variable,to have buttons also shown inside the dialog. Thanks.

  • Using try vs if in python

    - by artdanil
Is there a rationale to decide which one of try or if constructs to use, when testing variable to have a value? For example, there is a function that returns either a list or doesn't return a value. I want to check result before processing it. Which of the following would be more preferable and why? result = function(); if (result): for r in result: #process items or result = function(); try: for r in result: #process items except TypeError: pass; Related discussion: Checking for member existence in Python

  • if else-if making code look ugly any cleaner solution?

    - by Vishal
I have around 20 functions (is_func1, is_fucn2, is_func3...) returning boolean I assume there is only one function which returns true and I want that! I am doing: if is_func1(param1, param2): # I pass 1 to following abc(1) # I pass 1 some_list.append(1) elif is_func2(param1, param2): # I pass 2 to following abc(2) # I pass 1 some_list.append(2) ... . . elif is_func20(param1, param2): ... Please note: param1 and param2 are different for each, abc and some_list take parameters depending on the function. The code looks big and there is repetition in calling abc and some_list, I can pull this login in a function! but is there any other cleaner solution? I can think of putting functions in a data structure and loop to call them.

  • One click handler for multiple elements?

    - by user246114
Hi, I'm looking to add a click handler to a div. But is there a way to use a single click handler function and share it between multiple divs? Since I may have 100 divs, I don't want to create a click handler for each (they'll all practically do the same thing). The jquery example shows: $("p").click(function () { $(this).foo(); }); can we do something like: $("p").click(myClickHandler); function myClickHandler(source) { source.foo(); } ? Thanks

  • How to address thread-safety of service data used for maintaining static local variables in C++?

    - by sharptooth
Consider the following scenario. We have a C++ function with a static local variable: void function() { static int variable = obtain(); //blahblablah } the function needs to be called from multiple threads concurrently, so we add a critical section to avoid concurrent access to the static local: void functionThreadSafe() { CriticalSectionLockClass lock( criticalSection ); static int variable = obtain(); //blahblablah } but will this be enough? I mean there's some magic that makes the variable being initialized no more than once. So there's some service data maintained by the runtime that indicates whether each static local has already been initialized. Will the critical section in the above code protect that service data as well? Is any extra protection required for this scenario?

  • Constructors and method chaining in JavaScript

    - by Sethen Maleno
I am trying to make method chaining work in conjunction with my constructors, but I am not exactly sure how to go about it. Here is my code thus far: function Points(one, two, three) { this.one = one; this.two = two; this.three = three; } Points.prototype = { add: function() { return this.result = this.one + this.two + this.three; }, multiply: function() { return this.result * 30; } } var some = new Points(1, 1, 1); console.log(some.add().multiply()); I am trying to call the multiply method on the return value of the add method. I know there is something obvious that I am not doing, but I am just not sure what it is. Any thoughts?

  • Do i need a hashtag in Javascript to pass as a Div

    - by Mike
How do i insert this php DivSomething into Javascript? Since Javascript needs a hashtag to recognize that as a div. Is there a way to tell JS that this is a Div or there's other better way to do it? Any help would be very much appreciated. <script> /*How do i insert a var DivSomething into JS with a hashtag */ /* DivSomething is php dynamic. It returns a Div. It can be #Div1, #Div2, #Div3... */ var DivSomething = '<?php echo $Highlight; ?>' $(function() { $('#MouseHere').hover(function() { $('#' + DivSomething).css('background-color', '#ffffff'); }, function() { // on mouseout, reset the background colour $('#' + DivSomething).css('background-color', ''); </script>

  • How do C++ header files work?

    - by PulpFiction
Hi all. When I include some function from a header file in a C++ program, does the entire header file code get copied to the final executable or only the machine code for the specific function is generated. For example, if I call std::sort from the <algorithm> header in C++, is the machine code generated only for the sort() function or for the entire <algorithm> header file. I think that a similar question exists somewhere on Stack Overflow, but I have tried my best to find it (I glanced over it once, but lost the link). If you can point me to that, it would be wonderful.

  • JQuery selectors select from an html object other than from document root?

    - by orangebrainer
jQuery selectors select from the document. How do I select from somewhere else other than root? Say I want to select some children from an html object. For this function dothis(obj) { $j("#tabs").removeClass(); $j("#tabs>ul").removeClass(); $j("#tabs>ul>li>a").each(function() { var tabNum = $j(this).attr("href").replace("#", ""); var tabContent = $j("div[id=" + tabNum + "]"); tabContent.removeClass(); $(tabContent).before("<br><h1>" +$j(this).text() + "</h1>\n" ); }); $j("#tabs>ul").each(function() { $j(this).empty();//remove Ul links on top }); } I want to reference the selectors from an html Object (obj) i passed into as argument, instead of selecting from document. Sorry I'm pretty new to jQuery.

  • Play Framework Form "fold" method naming rationale

    - by oym
Play Framework's (2.x) Form class has a method called fold who's usage is indicated as: anyForm.bindFromRequest().fold( f => redisplayForm(f), t => handleValidFormSubmission(t) ) Essentially, the first function parameter is what gets executed on binding failure, and the 2nd on binding success. To me it seems similar to the 'success' and 'error' callbacks of jquery's ajax function. My question is why did the Play developers call the method "fold"? As a disclaimer I am new to Scala, but I am failing to see the connection between this and the functional Scala fold operation. The only similarity is that it is a higher order function; but I don't see any combining that is taking place, nor does it delegate internally in its implementation to any of the Scala fold functions.

  • ValidateRect vs BeginPaint

    - by Armentage
From the MSDN documentation: The BeginPaint function validates the entire client area. The ValidateRect function should not be called if a portion of the update region must be validated before the next WM_PAINT message is generated.1 I've been programming with Win32 API for years, and I've never thought to call the ValidateRect function. A co-worker of mine today pointed that we were missing a call to ValidateRect, which fixed a bug we were having doing some high-speed animation using GDI (I know, an oxymoron) Can someone tell me whether or not a call to ValidateRect is neccessary after a BeginPaint/EndPaint pair? I have seen no documentation at MSDN that sheds light on this, and what documentation and examples I do see that you do not need to.

  • detect a string contained by another discontinuously

    - by SpawnCxy
    Recently I'm working on bad content(such as advertise post) filter of a BBS.And I write a function to detect a string is in another string not continuously.Code as below: $str = 'helloguys'; $substr1 = 'hlu'; $substr2 = 'elf'; function detect($a,$b) //function that detect a in b { $c = ''; for($i=0;$i<=strlen($a);$i++) { for($j=0;$j<=strlen($b);$j++) { if($a[$i] == $b[$j]) { $b=substr($b,$j+1); $c .=$a[$i]; break; } } } if($c == $a) return true; else return false; } var_dump(detect($substr1,$str)); //true var_dump(detect($substr2,$str)); //false Since the filter works before the users do their posts so I think the efficiency here is important.And I wonder if there's any better solution? Thanks!

  • Pass var to jquery from div

    - by user1518202
I am using a jquery function to open a dialog box, and I need to be able to change the height and the width of the box. I am wanting to pass it a parameter from within the DIV. I have looked at many different possibilities, but to no avail. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. $.fx.speeds._default = 1000; $(function() { $("#dialog").dialog({ autoOpen: false, height: 300, width: 500, show: "drop", hide: "drop" }); $("#opener").click(function() { $("#dialog").dialog("open"); return false; }); }); Here is my Div. <div id="dialog"> Some text here </div>

  • What pattern is this? php

    - by user151841
I have several classes that are basically interfaces to database rows. Since the class assumes that a row already exists ( __construct expects a field value ), there is a public static function that allows creation of the row and returns an instance of the class. Here's an example ( without the actual database inserts ): class selfStarter { public $type; public function __construct( $type ) { $this->type = $type; } public static function create( $type ) { if ( ! empty($type) ) { $starter = & new selfStarter($type); return $starter; } } } $obj1 = selfStarter::create( "apple" ); $obj2 = & new selfStarter( "banana" ); What is this pattern called?
