How to set different width for INPUT and DIV elements with Scriptaculous Ajax.Autocompleter?

Hello, I am working on autocompleter box based on Scriptaculous Ajax.Autocompleter. My first try was to set various width with CSS classes (like above), but it didn't work -- list of choices became as wide as input box. According to Firebug width defined by my CSS class was overwritten by width set by element.style CSS class, which seems to be defined by Ajax.Autocompleter. My second try was to set width for list of choices after creating Ajax.Autocompleter $("isearch_choices").setStyle({width: "320px"}); but it didn't work too :(. No more ideas :(. How to set different width for list of choices for Scriptaculous Ajax.Autocompleter?

jQuery HOW TO?? pass additional parameters to success callback for $.ajax call ?

Hello jQuery Ninjas! I am trying, in vain it seems, to be able to pass additional parameters back to the success callback method that I have created for a successful ajax call. A little background. I have a page with a number of dynamically created textbox / selectbox pairs. Each pair having a dynamically assigned unique name such as name="unique-pair-1_txt-url" and name="unique-pair-1_selectBox" then the second pair has the same but the prefix is different. In an effort to reuse code, I have crafted the callback to take the data and a reference to the selectbox. However when the callback is fired the reference to the selectbox comes back as 'undefined'. I read here that it should be doable. I have even tried taking advantage of the 'context' option but still nothing. security negotiation with the remote endpoint has failed. This may be due to absent or incorrectly specified EndpointIdentity in the EndpointAddress used to create the channel. Please verify the EndpointIdentity specified or implied by the EndpointAddress correctly identifies the remote endpoint. If I host the service on ASP .NET Dev server, it work well but if I host on IIS above mentioned error occurs. Thanks, Ram

In Perl, is a while loop generally faster than a for loop?

I've done a small experiment as will be shown below and it looks like that a while loop is faster than a for loop in Perl. But since the experiment was rather crude, and the subject might be a lot more complicated than it seems, I'd like to hear what you have to say about this. Thanks as always for any comments/suggestions :) In the following two small scripts, I've tried while and for loops separately to calcaulte the factorial of 100,000. The one that has the while loop took 57 minutes 17 seconds to finish while the for loop equivalent took 1 hour 7 minutes 54 seconds. Twitter OAuth, Error when trying to POST direct message.

So I am building a java script that is used in conjunction of my C++ application for sending direct messages to users. the script does the work of building the request that i send. Installing applications OTA

I have a system set up to download jad files on users' Blackberries, but it only works intermittently, and seemingly randomly. If the user clicks on the link within their BlackBerry browser, 95% of the time on the first try an error message will pop up saying there was an HTTP 500 error (which our server never returns). Viewing the details of this message within the blackberry browser, it says nothing but java.lang.nullpointerexception which, again, could not have come from our server (running apache/php). However, if the user clicks on the link a few more times, or navigates away and goes back to that page, it suddenly works. No change on the server, it just shows the application install screen. Unfortunately, this doesn't always work; sometimes the error 500 just keeps showing up. The link is rather long (containing an sha hash as a token as part of the URL), but I would think that a long URL would either always be broken or always work, not work intermittently. The link uses a php script to download the jad and cod files. Linking to the files directly rather than using the script seems to work more often (I haven't determined if that also ever has an error 500 or not), but I can't find any issues with the headers. The content type is set correctly and, like I said, if the headers were an issue, I'd think it would either always work or always break. Any clues?

How do I cancel the link action?

I though returning false would be enough to cancel the link action, but apparently it isn't. When I click the link in the code below I do get the 'click' message, which is expected. Retrieve JSON with stackoverflow API

Hi, I want to retrieve the information of my stackoverflow profile as JSON using the api. So I use this link http:/api.stackoverflow.com/1.0/users/401025/. But when I make the request I get a file containing the JSON data. How do I deal with that file using javascript? A dynamic array of class "landmark", inside another single class "landmarks"

I'm working on a robot localization simulator and I created a class called "landmark". The end result is going to be a robot that is always centered and always faces the top of the screen. As it turns, the birds eye view map will rotate around the robot. To accomplish this, I'm assuming I can rotate one class and have all elements inside rotate as well. So, the landmark class has properties x,y, label, and radius. This is suppose to simulate a tree location in a forest. To test everything, I need "forest data," and I wrote a script to generate 100 trees in a 100m x 100m area. The script automatically generates values within an acceptable range for x,y, radius. The generated data is stored in an object called tempForest and is 100x3. Ideally, I want to create a class called "landmarks" (plural) that has 100 landmark instances inside. How would I instantiate 100 instances of landmark in one instance of landmarks using that randomly generated data? Ideally, I'd just type treeBeacons = landmarks(); and it would randomly populate 100 (user definable, set in config file) instances with x, y, radius data. I'm not sure how to deal with a dynamic array of class "Landmark", inside another single class "landmarks." Any ideas?

django : Serving static files through nginx

I'm using apache+mod_wsgi for django. And all css/js/images are served through nginx. For some odd, reason when others/friends/colleagues try accessing the site, jquery/css is not getting loaded for them, hence the page looks jumbled up. My html files use code like this - <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://x.x.x.x:8000/css/custom.css"/> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://1x.x.x.x:8000/js/custom.js"></script> My nginx configuration in sites-available is like this - server { listen 8000; server_name localhost; access_log /var/log/nginx/aa8000.access.log; error_log /var/log/nginx/aa8000.error.log; location / { index index.html index.htm; } location /static/ { autoindex on; root /opt/aa/webroot/; } } There is a directory /opt/aa/webroot/static/ which have corresponding css & js directories. The odd thing is that the pages show fine when I access them. I have cleared my cache/etc, but the page loads fine for me, from various browsers. Also, I don't see 404 any error in the nginx log files. Any pointers would be great.

How to avoid chaotic ASP.NET web application deployment?

Ok, so here's the thing. I'm developing an existing (it started being an ASP classic app, so you can imagine :P) web application under ASP.NET 4.0 and SQLServer 2005. We are 4 developers using local instances of SQL Server 2005 Express, having the source-code and the Visual Studio database project This webapp has several "universes" (that's how we call it). Every universe has its own database (currently on the same server) but they all share the same schema (tables, sprocs, etc) and the same source/site code. So manually deploying is really annoying, because I have to deploy the source code and then run the sql scripts manually on each database. I know that manual deploying can cause problems, so I'm looking for a way of automating it. We've recently created a Visual Studio Database Project to manage the schema and generate the diff-schema scripts with different targets. I don't have idea how to put the pieces together I would like to: Have a way to make a "sync" deploy to a target server (thanksfully I have full RDC access to the servers so I can install things if required). With "sync" deploy I mean that I don't want to fully deploy the whole application, because it has lots of files and I just want to deploy those new or changed. Generate diff-sql update scripts for every database target and combine it to just 1 script. For this I should have some list of the databases names somewhere. Copy the site files and executing the generated sql script in an easy and automated way. I've read about MSBuild, MS WebDeploy, NAnt, etc. But I don't really know where to start and I really want to get rid of this manual deploy. If there is a better and easier way of doing it than what I enumerated, I'll be pleased to read your option. I know this is not a very specific question but I've googled a lot about it and it seems I cannot figure out how to do it. I've never used any automation tool to deploy. I have the following query that I'm executing using a Python script (by using the MySQLdb module). conn=MySQLdb.connect (host = "localhost", user = "root",passwd = "<password>",db = "test") cursor = conn.cursor () preamble='set @radius=%s; set @o_lat=%s; set @o_lon=%s; '%(radius,latitude,longitude) query='SELECT *, 6371*1000 * acos(cos(radians(@o_lat)) * cos(radians(lat)) * cos(radians(lon) - radians(@o_lon)) + sin(radians(@o_lat)) * sin(radians(lat))) as distance FROM poi_table HAVING distance < @radius ORDER BY distance ASC LIMIT 0, 50' complete_query=preamble+query results=cursor.execute (complete_query) print results The values of radius, latitude, and longitude are not important, but they are being defined when the script executes. What bothers me is that the snippet of code above returns no results; essentially meaning that the way that the query is being executed is wonky. I executed the SQL query (including the set variables with actual values, and it returned the correct number of results). If I modify the query to just be a simple SELECT FROM query (SELECT * FROM poi_table) it returns results. What is going on here?

Setting my NIC to full duplex

I am trying to optimize the network speed of my Solaris X86 server, and have discovered that the Cisco 3548 that it is connected to has issues with the NIC in my server. The NIC appears to have not been configured fully, and is coming up 100 half-duplex. The 3548 ports are all set to 100 full. Ideally I'd like to have the server set for 100 full, and have been attempting to configure it using ndd commands. However I have had no results. The following command: -bash-3.00# dladm show-dev rtls0 link: unknown speed: 100 Mbps duplex: unknown The NIC shows up as: pci bus 0x0001 cardnum 0x06 function 0x00: vendor 0x10ec device 0x8139 Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ which should be configurable. I have modified the configuration file from auto config (5) to 100 fdx (4) to no avail. If there is no other choice, I could alter the Cisco 3548 to be 100 half-duplex. However, this solution causes huge performance loss. Currently throughput is about 500Kbps, when it should be around 40Mbps.

How would I craft a sql statement that I can run from cron that would go and delete and rows that where older then a month? Run ajax scripts on page with navigating with ajax?

I got a bit of an issue in my ASP.NET MVC project. I have a chat div in the bottom right corner (like facebook), and of course I do not want this to reload when navigating to all my navigation is ajax. The problem I am facing is that I use the following code on the top of the view page: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#divTS').hide(); $('a#showTS').click(function() { $('#divTS').slideToggle(400); return false; }); }); </script> The problem is that this code is only loaded with ajax and does not seem to fire? I would like to run all scripts in the newly loaded view, just as if I hadn't navigated with ajax. I cannot put this in the site.master as it only loads once and then probably the divs I am trying to hide doesn't exist. Is there a good way to run scripts in the ajax-loaded div?

Initialize webservice WSDL at runtime using Flex and Mate framework

I am developing a Flex application on top of Mate framework. In this application, I am using a webservice to retrieve data. As this webservice as not a fix location URL (depending on where customers installed it), I define this URL in a config file. When the Flex application starts, it first reads this config file, then I would like to use the value I found to initialize the webservice. But currently, I have no idea how to this. Javascript and webshop tracking/affiliate across websites, how to do?

Hi, I have a small front end to a webshop. All customers that go through my website and buy an item from the webshop I get back 5% of the amount. I need to find a way af tracking the customers i forward from my webshop to the other webshop. And then get the webshop to reply to me when the purchase has been made. In my webshop i have made a small page: collect.aspx that requests and saves the values passed in the querystring, something like this pseudo code: string orderid = Request["orderid"]; string amount = Request["amount"]; ..save to database On the webshop i forward customers to i get to insert a javascript on the last page in the purchase flow. I have tried a lot of things but it seems that the only thing that works is to fool the browser into thinking im referring a javascript, like this: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://domain.com/mypage.aspx?orderid=4&amount=45/> I saw how other trackers did their bit, and this seems to be the general way of doing it. With this script however, i get all the orders, i only want to log those that belong tome, those who entered through my website. Here is my big problem, how to do this? I added a cookie when the user opens my page, and i want to check for this cookie again when the purchase page make the callback. It weems that i cant get the cookie from the browser when it makes the "" call. This is really buggin me now. Could anyone please tell me how this is generally done, this tracking. And what am i missing in regards to this cookie thing? All ideas on how to do this is very welcome.
