  • Centering fonts in VB6

    - by James Musser
How do you determine the length of a string of text in Arial Bold font, and then center it in VB6? If not here, can you point me in a direction where I might be able to find this information? We're not using a "label" or "picture box" do print the text to the screen. We are sizing the text on the fly, and allowing the user to scale the size of our application to their liking. We write the text to screen using code.

  • Executing functions parallelly in PHP

    - by binaryLV
Hi! Can PHP call a function and don't wait for it to return? So something like this: function callback($pause, $arg) { sleep($pause); echo $arg, "\n"; } header('Content-Type: text/plain'); fast_call_user_func_array('callback', array(3, 'three')); fast_call_user_func_array('callback', array(2, 'two')); fast_call_user_func_array('callback', array(1, 'one')); would output one (after 1 second) two (after 2 seconds) three (after 3 seconds) rather than three (after 3 seconds) two (after 3 + 2 = 5 seconds) one (after 3 + 2 + 1 = 6 seconds) Main script is intended to be run as a permanent process (TCP server). callback() function would receive data from client, execute external PHP script and then do something based on other arguments that are passed to callback(). The problem is that main script must not wait for external PHP script to finish. Result of external script is important, so exec('php -f file.php &') is not an option.

  • How do I determine if a property was overriden?

    - by Benjamin
Hello I am doing a project that where I need to register all the properties, because of the system being so huge it would require a lot of work to register all the properties that i want to be dependent for the purpose of Xaml. The goal is to find all properties that are on the top of the tree. so basically public class A{ public int Property1 { get; set; } } public class B : A{ public int Property2 { get; set; } public virtual int Property3 { get; set; } } public class C : B{ public override int Property3 { get; set; } public int Property4 { get; set; } public int Property5 { get; set; } } The end result would be something like this A.Prorperty1 B.Property2 B.Property3 C.Property4 C.Property5 If you notice I don't want to accept overridden properties because of the way I search for the properties if I do something like this C.Property3 for example and it cannot find it it will check C's basetype and there it will find it. This is what I have so far. public static void RegisterType( Type type ) { PropertyInfo[] properties = type.GetProperties( BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.DeclaredOnly | BindingFlags.GetProperty | BindingFlags.SetProperty ); if ( properties != null && properties.Length > 0 ) { foreach ( PropertyInfo property in properties ) { // if the property is an indexers then we ignore them if ( property.Name == "Item" && property.GetIndexParameters().Length > 0 ) continue; // We don't want Arrays or Generic Property Types if ( (property.PropertyType.IsArray || property.PropertyType.IsGenericType) ) continue; // Register Property } } } What I want are the following: Public properties, that are not overridden, not static, not private Either get and set properties are allowed They are not an array or a generic type They are the top of the tree ie C class in the example is the highest (The property list example is exactly what I am looking for) They are not an indexer property ( this[index] ) Any help will be much appreciated =).

  • Assigning IDs to instances of a class (Pythonic)

    - by mellort
I want to have each instance of some class have a unique integer identifier based on the order that I create them, starting with (say) 0. In Java, I could do this with a static class variable. I know I can emulate the same sort of behavior with Python, but what would be the most 'Pythonic' way to do this? Thanks

  • C# Type Casting at Runtimefor Array.SetValue

    - by sprocketonline
I'm trying to create an array using reflection, and insert values into it. I'm trying to do this for many different types so would like a createAndFillArray function capable of this : Type t1 = typeof(A); Type t2 = typeof(B); double exampleA = 22.5; int exampleB = 43; Array arrA = createAndFillArray(t1, exampleA); Array arrB = createAndFillArray(t2, exampleB); private Array createAndFillArray(Type t, object val){ Array arr = Array.CreateInstance( t, 1); //length 1 in this example only, real-world is of variable length. arr.SetValue( val, 0 ); //this causes the following error: "System.InvalidCastException : Object cannot be stored in an array of this type." return arr; } with the class A being as follows: public class A{ public A(){} private double val; public double Value{ get{ return val; } set{ this.val = value; } } public static implicit operator A(double d){ A a = new A(); a.Value = d; return a; } } and class B being very similar, but with int: public class B{ public B(){} private double val; public double Value{ get{ return val; } set{ this.val = value; } } public static implicit operator B(double d){ B b = new B(); b.Value = d; return b; } } I hoped that the implicit operator would have ensured that the double be converted to class A, or the int to class B, and the error avoided; but this is obviously not so. The above is used in a custom deserialization class, which takes data from a custom data format and fills in the corresponding .Net object properties. I'm doing this via reflection and at runtime, so I think both are unavoidable. I'm targeting the C# 2.0 framework. I've dozens, if not hundreds, of classes similar to A and B, so would prefer to find a solution which improved on the createAndFillArray method rather than a solution which altered these classes.

  • Add up values from a text file

    - by Stanley
Hi Guys I have a text file that contains Amounts at Substring (34, 47) of each line. I need to sum Up all the Values to the End of the File. I have this code that I had started to build but I do not know how to proceed from here: public class Addup { /** * @param args the command line arguments */ public static void main(String[] args) throws FileNotFoundException, IOException { // TODO code application logic here FileInputStream fs = new FileInputStream("C:/Analysis/RL004.TXT"); BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(fs)); String line; while((line = br.readLine()) != null){ String num = line.substring(34, 47); double i = Double.parseDouble(num); System.out.println(i); } } } The output is like this: 1.44576457E4 2.33434354E6 4.56875685E3 The Amount is in two decimal Places and I need the result also in the Two decimal Places. What Is the Best way to achieve this?

  • Calling functions outside paths

    - by user1775718
In mongojs, when you do: var birds = db.birds.find(searchTerm, callback); ...how do you pass arguments to the callback? I've tried bind, as in: birds = db.birds.find(searchTerm, app.get('getBirds').bind(res)); ...but to no avail. Just fyi I'm trying to pass the response object of the GET route so that the callback can render using res.send(results). The other option is to set app.set('res': res); and call app.get('res') from the callback - I'm not sure this is a good idea. It works, but it doesn't obey the events loop model too well - I think the request back to the app may be costly? Any help would be gratefully accepted. :)

  • Java - Layering issues with Lists and Graphics2D

    - by Mirrorcrazy
    So I have a DisplayPanel class that extends JPanel and that also paints my numerous images for my program using Graphics2D. In order to be able to easily customly use this I set it up so that every time the panel is repainted it uses a List, that I can add to or remove from as the program processes. My problem is with layering. I've run into an issue where the List must have reached its resizing point (or something whacky like that) and so the images i want to display end up beneath all of the other images already on the screen. I've come to the community for an answer because I have faith you will provide a good one. DisplayPanel: package earthworm; import java.awt.Graphics; import java.awt.Graphics2D; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.List; import javax.swing.JPanel; public class DisplayPanel extends JPanel { private List<ImageMap> images = new ArrayList(); public DisplayPanel() { setSize(800, 640); refresh(); } public void refresh() { revalidate(); repaint(); } @Override public void paintComponent(Graphics g) { super.paintComponent(g); Graphics2D g2d = (Graphics2D) g; g2d.clearRect(0, 0, 800, 640); for(int i = 0; i < images.size(); i++) g2d.drawImage( images.get(i).getImage(), images.get(i).getX(), images.get(i).getY(), null); } public void paintImage(ImageMap[] images, ImageMap[] clearImages, boolean clear) { if(clear) this.images.clear(); else if(clearImages!=null) for(int i = 0; i < clearImages.length; i++) this.images.remove(clearImages[i]); if(images!=null) for(int i = 0; i<images.length; i++) this.images.add(images[i]); refresh(); } }

  • Creating Delegates With Lambda Expressions in F#

    - by Matt H
Why does... type IntDelegate = delegate of int -> unit type ListHelper = static member ApplyDelegate (l : int list) (d : IntDelegate) = l |> List.iter (fun x -> d.Invoke x) ListHelper.ApplyDelegate [1..10] (fun x -> printfn "%d" x) not compile, when: type IntDelegate = delegate of int -> unit type ListHelper = static member ApplyDelegate (l : int list, d : IntDelegate) = l |> List.iter (fun x -> d.Invoke x) ListHelper.ApplyDelegate ([1..10], (fun x -> printfn "%d" x)) does? The only difference that is that in the second one, ApplyDelegate takes its parameters as a tuple. Error 1 This function takes too many arguments, or is used in a context where a function is not expected

  • How does Symfony pass members set in an action to a template?

    - by Martin Chatterton
How does a member set inside an action... $this->foo = 'bar'; ...become a variable accessible from a template... echo $foo; // bar I would like to know how it is achieved at a framework level. There is a lot of documentation on how to use Symfony, but I've not managed to find much about how it all fits together behind the scenes (class structure/inheritance etc). Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Strategy to rename the require_once function?

    - by openfrog
Rather than just writing a new function called import() i'd like to know if there's a better solution. Otherwise require_once would be included in the scope of import() only, which is bad for any "global" variable there. My import() function would work differently than require_once, but serves the same purpose (enhanced usability).

  • How do I make php page return a 503 error (or anything non-200).

    - by Benju
A former developer wrote or client-server api in PHP. It simply sends messages as xml using post/response in a very simplistic fashion. The problem is that even when there is an error (ex: invalid arguments passed into the server side) we get a HTTP 200 response with a page like this <h4>Unknown error!</h4> In firebug I can see that the actually HTTP response is a 200. How can we send a different response (ie:503) when we programatically detect in our php code that it is appropriate to do so.

  • How many indexes will actually get used?

    - by Ender
I'm writing a page that does very simple search queries, resulting in something like: SELECT * FROM my_table WHERE A in (a1, a2, a3) AND B in (b1, b2) AND C in (c1, c2, c3, c4) AND And so on for a variable number of columns, usually ~5. If I create a separate index for each column (one for A, one for B, one for C, not (A,B,C)), will all of them be used in the above query?

  • Oracle - Return shortest string value in a set of rows

    - by Sridhar
Hi, I'm trying to write a query that returns the shortest string value in the column. For ex: if ColumnA has values ABCDE, ZXDR, ERC, the query should return "ERC". I've written the following query, but I'm wondering if there is any better way to do this? BTW, the query should return a single value. select distinct ColumnA from ( select ColumnA, rank() over (order by length(ColumnA), ColumnA) len_rank from TableA where ColumnB = 'XXX' ) where len_rank <= 1 Thank you.

  • Google Maps API - Marker not showing

    - by popnbrown
    I'm trying to add markers for every single row from a table, that sits on the page. The page is http://www.sravanks.com/first/2013ftcmap.php This is the JS code that's loading the markers: $(document).ready(function() { var mapOptions = { center: new google.maps.LatLng(39.740, -89.503), zoom: 7 }; var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map-canvas"), mapOptions); var infowindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow(); /* City Markers */ var cityCircle = new Array(); var i = 0; $.each($('.events tr'), function(index, value) { var name = $(this).find('td:first()').html(); var address = $(this).find('.address').html(); var linkUrl = "http://www.sravanks.com/first/geocode.php?address=" + address; $.ajax({ url: linkUrl }).done(function(data){ var json = $.parseJSON(data.substring(0, data.length-1)); lat = json.results[0].geometry.location.lat; lng = json.results[0].geometry.location.lng; var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(lat, lng); var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ position: latlng, map: map, icon: 'map-pointer-medium.gif' }); google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'click', function() { infowindow.setContent(name); infowindow.open(map, marker); cityCircle[i] = new google.maps.Circle({strokeColor: '#00FF00', strokeOpacity: 0.8, strokeWeight: 2, fillColor: '#00FF00', fillOpacity: 0.35, map: map, center: latlng, radius: 144841}); i++; }); }); }); /*Team Markers*/ var markers = {}; var teamName, teamNumber, lat, lng, content; $.each($('.list tr'), function(index, value) { teamName = $(this).find('td.name').html(); teamNumber = $(this).find('td.number').html(); markers[teamNumber] = {}; lat = parseFloat($(this).find('td.lat').html()); lng = parseFloat($(this).find('td.lng').html()); content = "Name: " + teamName + "<br />Number: " + teamNumber; markers[teamNumber]['latlng'] = new google.maps.LatLng(lat, lng); markers[teamNumber]['marker'] = new google.maps.Marker({ position: markers[teamNumber]['latlng'], map: map }); google.maps.event.addListener(markers[teamNumber]['marker'], 'click', function() { infowindow.setContent(content); infowindow.open(map, markers[teamNumber]['marker']); }); }); google.maps.event.addListener(infowindow, 'closeclick', function() { for(var i=0;i<cityCircle.length;i++){ cityCircle[i].setMap(null); } }); }); I've got no errors, but the Team Markers do not show up. The strange thing is that the City Markers do show up. Some more info, the City Markers ajax call is just to a proxy that calls the google geocoding api. Again the link's at http://www.sravanks.com/first/2013ftcmap.php

  • Is there a Java 1.5 varargs API for slf4j yet?

    - by Josh
I want to get rid of this lot... public void info(String msg); public void info(String format, Object arg); public void info(String format, Object arg1, Object arg2); public void info(String format, Object[] argArray); ...and replace it with this one... public void info(String format, Object ... args); ...so that my logging syntax doesn't have to change depending on the number of arguments I want to log. There seems to be lots of discussion and work around it, but where is it? Or should I wrap the wrapper that is slf4j?

  • Select fields containing at least one non-space alphanumeric character

    - by zzapper
(Sorry I know this is an old chestnut; I have found similar answers here but not an exact answer) These are frequent hand written queries from a console so I is what I am looking for is the easiest thing to type SELECT * FROM tbl_loyalty_card WHERE CUSTOMER_ID REGEXP "[0-9A-Z]"; or SELECT * FROM tbl_loyalty_card WHERE LENGTH(CUSTOMER_ID) >0; -- could match spaces Do you have anything quicker to type even if it's QAD?
