  I do this query with NHibernate: var test = _session.CreateCriteria(typeof(Estimation)) .SetFetchMode("EstimationItems", FetchMode.Eager) .List(); An "Estimation" can have several "EstimationItems" (Quantity, Price and ProductId) I'd like a list of "Estimation" with these constraints : One line by "Estimation" code on the picture (ex : 2011/0001 and 2011/0003) By estimation (means on each line) the number of "EstimationItems" By Estimation (means on each line) the total price (Quantity * Price) for each "EstimationItems" I hope the structure will be clearer with the picture below.   I'm currently running a query like this: SELECT * FROM email WHERE email_address LIKE 'ajones@%' OR email_address LIKE 'bsmith@%' OR email_address LIKE 'cjohnson@%' The large number of OR's bothers me. Is there a way to condense this up with something akin to an IN operator, e.g.: SELECT * FROM email WHERE email_address LIKE ('ajones@%', 'bsmith@%', 'cjohnson@%') Or is this just wishful thinking?

  I'm using the date plugin for Template::Toolkit (Template::Plugin::Date), it works well with datetimes (yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss) pulled straight out of MySQL, but it will not work with dates (yyyy-mm-dd). What's the simplest way to get date.format to accept dates (without modifying the sql query)? Thanks.

  Let's say I have a table with millions of rows. Using JPA, what's the proper way to iterate over a query against that table, such that I don't have all an in-memory List with millions of objects? I suspect that the following will blow up if the table is large: List<Model> models = entityManager().createQuery("from Model m", Model.class).getResultList(); for (Model model : models) { // do something with model } Is pagination (looping and manually updating setFirstResult()/setMaxResult()) really the best solution?

  I am developing an application which may be hosted on a microsoft sql server, or on Azure SQL, depending upon the end user's wishes. My whole system works fine with the exception of some WCF functions which determine the last modification time of tables using the following technique: SELECT OBJECT_NAME(OBJECT_ID) as tableName, last_user_update as lastUpdate FROM mydb.sys.dm_db_index_usage_stats This query fails in Azure. Is there any analogous way to get table last modification dates from Azure's sql?

  Im using python to access a MySQL database and im getting a unknown column in field due to quotes not being around the variable. code below: cur = x.cnx.cursor() cur.execute('insert into tempPDBcode (PDBcode) values (%s);' % (s)) rows = cur.fetchall() How do i manually insert double or single quotes around the value of s? I've trying using str() and manually concatenating quotes around s but it still doesn't work. The sql statement works fine iv double and triple check my sql query.

I've only ever used one table in mysql so have no idea how to do this properly. Is it possible? EDIT: id is username, integers in table2 is just integers. but have not built the tables yet, so can change if need to.

  On asp.net if i call a synchronous database query inside an IHttpAsyncHandler with delegate.BeginInvoke, would it still release the asp.net worker thread while reading the database? • My login controller doesn't work. Problem with fetching username.

  Currently my login controller doesn't work because i can't seem to fetch the username and password. I'm currently using something like this: form_username = str(request.params.get('username')) db_user = meta.Session.query(User).filter_by(username=form_username) if db_user is None: return redirect('auth/error') No matter which username is use, db_user always returns True and thus never goes to auth/error. I used the shell to play with this and i was able establish a connection with the database, so i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong here.
