• Configuring Windows Server Backup Destination Drive Sets

  Is it possible to set up the standard backup system in SBS 2011 (or Server 2008 R2) to use an internal drive as a destination as well as external drives? Before you say yes, from my tests and from what I've read on the web, backups with internal drives included as a destination always seems to prefer the internal drive over connected external ones. (Regardless of what drive might be marked as 'active'). So no data ever gets written to a plugged in external drive. In my opinion external drives should always have priority over internal drives or including them is pointless.

• How can I get my email to go to Gmail and my hosted server?

  I've switched my main domain to point the MX to Google Apps, and my actual domain's server with the lowest MX priority. My idea is to have my primary emails on Google Apps, where the secondary are via Cpanel. Is this even possible? Currently MX records read: 0 Google 4 Google 4 Google 9 Google 9 Google 10 My server I have [email protected] which is added in G. Apps, and [email protected] which is only added in cpanel. Is there anyway to get this to work?

• Windows Server 2008 scheduled tasks cannot create files

  We have a series of tasks which, when run interactively over the command line run fine creating temporary files and (importantly) logs and backups. When we schedule the task with Administrator privileges to run at the highest priority, however, no logs or temporary files are created! All the directories have read/write privileges as administrator. Has anyone else experienced this?? We are running Windows 2008 Server & the job is configured for 'Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008'. Any help would be much appreciated! OK - so we installed Z-Cron and it works perfectly.... Still a really really strange error from Windows 2008 Task Scheduler, but a solution is perhaps not quite so urgent now we have Z-Cron working!

My asterisk .call file looks like this: Channel: SIP/flowroute/1234567890 Context: test Extension: 1234567890 Priority: 1 Here's my extensions.conf: [test] exten => _1NXXXXXXXXX,1,Set(CALLERID(num)=8005552222) exten => _1NXXXXXXXXX,n,Dial(SIP/${EXTEN}@flowroute) exten => _1NXXXXXXXXX,n,Playback(hello-world) When I receive the call, the caller id number is 1-206-445-6979, even though the CDR log has both src and clid set to 8005552222. I'm using flowroute as my carrier. Is there something wrong on their side?

• Make the recycle bin of the SSD on a RAID0 drive?

  I don't know about you folks, but I hate the idea of junk sitting on my tiny 30GB SSD. Any way to designate another drive to be the host of the Recycle Bin for items formerly on the SSD? Basically, I need to know how to make a lower-priority drive receive the recycled materials from the 'main' drive, which happens to be short on space. The best thing I can think of is a batch file that a) syncs 'recycle' to another drive; and b) empties the recycle bin. ... but that's too much work for me.

• OEM Windows 8 Downgrade to Windows 7

  I recently Purchased an ASUS K55A As you may know, all Windows 8 machines come with a BIOS that contains 'Secure Boot'. This basically makes sure that the BIOS won't load anything other than the Windows 8 OEM bloatware version that comes with new Laptops. However the Asus Bios allows for me to disable the secure boot, and therefore I should be able to revert to Windows 7, Linux, etc. Drivers may or may not be supported. When I put my MINT LINUX boot disc in CD-R Drive and try to boot from ISO, nothing happens. There isn't even a boot priority list in this BIOS... I can provide screen shots later. It just says WINDOWS 8 Bootloader and also on the other tab it says WINDOWS 8 BOOT OVERRIDE Has anybody purchased a windows 8 machine and successfully loaded windows 7 or Linux?

• Where does traffic shaping typically take place?

  As part of upgrading our network infrastructure we are looking to traffic shape our bandwidth since we only have about 3Mb down / 1 Mb up. We're looking to prioritize it so that web browsing gets priority and in the future some VOIP might be added in as well. Internal LAN traffic doesn't need to be controlled just our outbound connection. I've been looking at Cisco hardware and it seems that several of their products do shaping at the core switch, firewall, and router level. I'm wondering where does shaping normally take place? Is it normally done at the router, core switch, or firewall?

• Why is an Ext4 disk check so much faster than NTFS?

  I had a situation today where I restarted my computer and it said I needed to check the disk for consistancy. About 10 minutes later (at "1%" complete), I gave up and decided to let it run when I go home. For comparison, my home computer uses Ext4 for all of the partitions, and the disk checks (which run around once week) only take a couple seconds. I remember reading that having fast disk checks was a priority, but I don't know how they could do that. So, how does Ext4 do disk checks so fast? Is there some huge breakthrough in doing this after NTFS came out (~10 years ago)? Note: The NTFS disk is ~300 GB and the Ext4 disk is ~500 GB. Both are about half full.

• Selectively routing traffic via ethernet or wifi, with proper DNS (Mac OS X 10.6)

  When I'm at work, I access various intranet pages as well as the wider Internet through ethernet. However, the company LAN blocks some ports (e.g. Google Calendar). I can get to those through WiFi. So, I gave the Airport priority, and then using route add, I set up selective routing: all intranet traffic goes through the ethernet and everything else via WiFi: sudo route add 10.0.0.0/8 <intranet gateway>. However, there are a number of intranet sites that have their own DNS; i.e., hr.company.com only resolves on the intranet. The only way that I can get the DNS to work properly is to add the internal DNS server to the Airport DNS listing, however I fear that when I go elsewhere and forget, this will break things. What's the right way to get the DNS to resolve using this setup?

  We've developing a database driven (70%/30% read/write load) website using C#.NET, IIS and MS SQL Server 2008 to be hosted on Windows 2008. Due to contractual reasons our setup has to be hosted on our own physical/virtual servers instead of a cloud solution at this stage. Could someone outline or link to some best practices that would provide both high availability (priority at the moment) and eventually load balancing for our site. We're probably looking at some sort of 2 SQL server mirrored system and 2 ISS web servers to start with. Thanks in advance.

  I have saslauthd with save the logs in LOG_AUTH in our rsyslogd server. It can't be changed without recompiling, and I don't want to do that. I would like to see all the LOG_AUTH in LOG_MAIL, because I do an export to an external machine, and I would like to see all the saslauthd logs in LOG_MAIL in the distant server. Of course, in local I can add "auth.* " in the mail.log file section, but the export will not be in the right file because I filter in export by syslog Facility/Priority. How can I export all the AUTH logs into MAIL logs ? Thanks

• What is this PHP process? It is crippling my server

  This process has been using 65% of my site CPU and has lasted for about 10 minutes now (aren't processes only supposed to go for a couple seconds?) It is obviously something with mysql. This makes sense because I have a lot of queries going, but something still seems a bit odd... This could have something to do with my bad PDO connection that I mentioned in the previous question. Perhaps I am opening too many connections or something like that?   From time to time firefox cause to my Ubuntu machine to stuck.(nothing run on the machine except firefox) I cant move the mouse or move windows by keyboard. In some cases i have wait for a few minutes and than close last open tab in firefox and it solve the problem in other cases i do restart. Is there any way to prevent it, limit forefox in some way? In windows in most cased even with 100% cpu you can do alt-ctrl-delete and get the task manager, is there a top priority combination in linux that give you terminal? Or any other way ... • WCF Publish/Subscribe and using callbacks to send data to specific users

I'm creating a client server app, which allows a client to subscribe to the server to have messages forwarded to it. The issue I'm having is that when the client subscribes I wish for them to only recieve updates that relate to them. The system basically passes messages from a SQL server DB which the server monitors. When a new message is recieved the server should only forward the message to the clients that it applys to, based on whos logged on the client machine. I've had a look and found code samples which sign up for messages to be broadcast across all clients who have subscribed, but not any that show how to identify individual clients and if messages apply to them. If anyone could help or point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.   I've started a new project in WPF 4 (.NET 4) and trying to see if I can run it in xbap mode. I need to run the application in Full Trust with the new mode made available in .NET 4 which asks the end user if the full trust application should be run.   My Scenario: I have server_1 (192.168.10.1) with wso2-ESB and server_2 (192.168.10.2) with Glassfish-v3 + web services. Problem: I am trying to create a proxy in ESB using the java Web Services, but the created proxy does not respond properly. The log says: Unable to sendViaPost for http or https does not change the result. I think I should configure the axis2.xml but I am having trouble, and don't know what to do. What is the configuration for my scenario? Please help me! EDIT: To be clear, I can directly consume the WebService in the Glassfish server, it works normal, both port and url are accessible. Only when I create a "Pass through Proxy" in the ESB, it does not work. I don't think is matter of Proxy configuration...I never had problems while deployed locally, problems started once I have uploaded the ESB to a remote server. I really would need someone to point me what is the correct procedure when installing the ESB on a remote host: configuration of axis2.xml and carbon.xml, ports, transport receivers etc... P.S. I had a look at the official (wso2 esb and carbon) guides with no luck, but I am missing something...
