  • Changing the size of the UISearchBar TextField ?

    - by Padraig
    I have a UITableView with an Index on the side; I want to add a UISearchBar to it, but the index overlaps with the "x" to clear the search. I've noticed in the Contacts application, the textfield within the UISearchBar is resized to accommodate this, but I can't work out how to do this in my own app. I have tried the following in my viewDidLoad, but it does not seem to work. UITextField * textField = (UITextField *)[[self.search subviews] objectAtIndex:0]; CGRect r = textField.frame; [textField setFrame:CGRectMake(r.origin.x, r.origin.y, r.size.height, r.size.width-30)]; Any ideas?

  • Rails: has_many association with a table in another database and without foreign key

    - by Fernando
    Here is my situation. I have model called Account. An account can have one or more contracts. The problem is that i'm dealing with a legacy application and each account's contracts are stored in a different database. Example: Account 1's contract are in account1_db.contracts. Account 2's contract are in account2_db.contracts. The database name is a field stored in accounts table. How can i make rails association work with this? This is a legacy PHP application and i simply can't change it to store everything in one table. I need to make it work somehow. I tried this, but it didn't worked: has_many :contracts, :conditions => [lambda{ Contract.set_table_name(self.database + '.contracts'); return '1' }] Any ideas?

  • WCF: connecting to service over internet times out

    - by Shaul
    Still on the WCF learning curve: I've set up a self-hosted WCF Service (WSDualHttpBinding), which works fine on my own computer, which resides behind a firewall. If I run the client on my own computer, everything works great. Now I installed the client on a computer outside my network, and I'm trying to access the service via a dynamic DNS, like so: http://mydomain.dyndns.org:8000/MyService. My port forwarding issues were taken care of in a previous question; I can now see the service is up in my browser. But now when I try to run the client on the other machine, I get the following error message: "The open operation did not complete within the allotted timeout of 00:01:00. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout." I have disabled security on the service, so that's not it. What else might be preventing the connection from happening?

    I'm trying to initialize the form attribute for MyModelAdmin class inside an instance method, as follows: class MyModelAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): def queryset(self, request): MyModelAdmin.form = MyModelForm(request.user) My goal is to customize the editing form of MyModelForm based on the current session. When I try this however, I keep getting an error (shown below). Is this the proper place to pass session data to ModelForm? If so, then what may be causing this error? TypeError at ... • When to release the UIImage ?

    - by ragnarius
    I use the following code to draw a subimage UIImage* subIm = getSubImage( large, rect ); [subIm drawInRect:self.bounds]; where getSubImage is defined as follows UIImage* getSubImage(UIImage* uim, CGRect rc){ CGImageRef imref = CGImageCreateWithImageInRect(uim.CGImage, rc); UIImage* sub = [UIImage imageWithCGImage:imref]; CGImageRelease(imref); NSLog(@"subimage retainCount=%d", [sub retainCount]); // is 1 return sub; }//getSubImage Is the code correct? Is it safe to "CGImageRelease" imref? Has sub "CGImageRetained" imref? Should I release subIm (I get an error if I do)? Is subIm contained in the autorelease-pool, and , if so, how do I know this? In general, can one check if an object is contained in the autorelease pool (for debugging purpose)?

  • alternatives to eval for running remote code.

    - by Raynos
    Are there any alternatives to using eval to immediatly run remote & trusted javascript code. function load(filePath) { var o = $.ajax({ url: filePath, dataType: 'html', async: false }); eval(o.responseText); } load("somePath"); // run a function that relies on the code from o.responseText being loaded doSomethingWithCode(); I'm aware that synchronous loading of javascript is adviced againts. But if there is no choice are there any cross browser alternatives for the use of eval above. [Edit] To clarify in more detail the code being loaded is a self executing function. Which needs to execute before doSomethingWidthCode. It's also being loaded from the server on the same domain hence its trusted.

  • numpy array C api

    - by wiso
    I have a C++ function returning a std::vector and I want to use it in python, so I'm using the C numpy api: static PyObject * py_integrate(PyObject *self, PyObject *args){ ... std::vector<double> integral; cpp_function(integral); // this change integral npy_intp size = {integral.size()}; PyObject *out = PyArray_SimpleNewFromData(1, &size, NPY_DOUBLE, &(integral[0])); return out; } when I call it from python, if I do import matplotlib.pyplot as plt a = py_integrate(parameters) print a fig = plt.figure() ax = fig.add_subplot(111) ax.plot(a) print a the first print is ok, the values are correct, but when I plot a they are not, and in particular in the second print I see very strange values like 1E-308 1E-308 ... or 0 0 0 ... as an unitialized memory. I don't understand why the first print is ok.

  • custom UIButton with skewed area in iPhone

    - by sugar
    I want to have a button on a screen with this image. this image is transparent from its corners as you can see here. UIButton *btn=[UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [btn setFrame:CGRectMake(xCo, yCo, kImageSizeWidth, kImageSizeHeight)]; [btn setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"aboveImg.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [btn addTarget:self action:@selector(btnTapped:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchDown]; But the button tap is recognized out side image & i don't want that kind of functionality. I mean tap must be recognized only when it is tapped within image not outside image. How is that possible ? Thanks in advance for sharing your great knowledge. Sagar.

  • UITabViewController hide / make appear a view in code

    - by user3689827
    I am using Xcode 5.1.1. I have a UITabViewController and used Storyboard to add 10 views to it. It works great and I get the "more" and table view all for free. I only want to show some of the tabs at the beginning. Once the user logs in with their Google+ account (I actually got that working), then I want the rest of the tabs to appear, since they are content sensitive to the user logging in. I have found: [[[[self.tabBarController tabBar]items]objectAtIndex:3]setEnabled:FALSE]; But I do not want the items just greyed out, I want them removed completely until they log in. Thanks

  • How to make an scrollable UITextField Inside UItableViewCell?

    - by user333624
    Hello everyone. I created a bunch of editable UITableViewCell by embedding an UITextField inside, but I have seen some apps that allows you to scroll the UItableview by scrolling inside an inactive editable cell. How can I do that? And how can I also dismiss the keyboard when tapping somewhere else? I know about the method: - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [[event allTouches] anyObject]; if (touch.tapCount == 1) { [self resignFirstResponder]; } else { }} I put it inside my custom table view controller but the method doesn't seem to be called upon a tap, and I don't know if even if it gets called will dismiss the keyboard. Any help will be appreciated.

  • Query for model by key

    - by Jason Hall
    What I'm trying to do is query the datastore for a model where the key is not the key of an object I already have. Here's some code: class User(db.Model): partner = db.SelfReferenceProperty() def text_message(self, msg): user = User.get_or_insert(msg.sender) if not user.partner: # user doesn't have a partner, find them one # BUG: this line returns 'user' himself... :( other = db.Query(User).filter('partner =', None).get() if other: # connect users else: # no one to connect to! The idea is to find another User who doesn't have a partner, that isn't the User we already know. I've tried filter('key !=, user.key()), filter('__key__ !=, user.key()) and a couple others, and nothing returns another User who doesn't have a partner. filter('foo !=, user.key()) also returns nothing, for the record.

  • Passing Data thru NSTimer UserInfo

    - by zorro2b
    I a trying to pass data thru userInfo for an NSTimer call. What is the best way to do this? I am trying to use an NSDictionary, this is simple enough when I have objective c objects, but what about other data? I want to do something like this, which doesn't work as is: - (void) play:(SystemSoundID)sound target:(id)target callbackSelector:(SEL)selector { NSLog(@"pause ipod"); [iPodController pause]; theSound = sound; NSMutableDictionary *cb = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; [cb setObject:(id)&sound forKey:@"sound"]; [cb setObject:target forKey:@"target"]; [cb setObject:(id)&selector forKey:@"selector"]; [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0 target:self selector: @selector(notifyPause1:) userInfo:(id)cb repeats:NO]; }

  • iPhone: One Object, One Thread

    - by GingerBreadMane
    On the iPhone, I would like to do some operations on an image in a separate thread. Rather than dealing with semiphores, locking, etc., I'd like to use the 'One Object, One Thread' method of safely writing this concurrent operation. I'm not sure what is the correct way to copy my object into a new thread so that the object is not accessed in the main thread. Do I use the 'copy' method? If so, do I do this before the thread or inside the thread? ... -(void)someMethod{ UIImage *myImage; [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(getRotatedImage:) toTarget:self withObject:myImage]; } -(void)getRotatedImage:(UIImage *)image{ ... ... UIImage *copiedImage = [image copy]; ... ... }

  • How to 'hide' spurious "declared but never used" warnings?

    - by Roddy
    I'm using the C++Builder compiler which has a minor bug that certain static const items from system header files can cause spurious "xyzzy is declared but never used" warnings. I'm trying to get my code 100% warning free, so want a way of masking these particular warnings (note - but not by simply turning off the warning!) Also, I can't modify the header files. I need a way of 'faking' the use of the items, preferably without even knowing their type. As an example, adding this function to my .cpp modules fixes warnings for these four items, but it seems a bit 'ad-hoc'. Is there a better and preferably self-documenting way of doing this? static int fakeUse() { return OneHour + OneMinute + OneSecond + OneMillisecond; }

  • Django - Passing arguments to models through ForeignKey attributes

    - by marshall
    I've got a class like this: class Image (models.Model): ... sizes = ((90,90), (300,250)) def resize_image(self): for size in sizes: ... and another class like this: class SomeClassWithAnImage (models.Model): ... an_image = models.ForeignKey(Image) what i'd like to do with that class is this: class SomeClassWithAnImage (models.Model): ... an_image = models.ForeignKey(Image, sizes=((90,90), (150, 120))) where i'm can specify the sizes that i want the Image class to use to resize itself as a argument rather than being hard coded on the class. I realise I could pass these in when calling resize_image if that was called directly but the idea is that the resize_image method is called automatically when the object is persisted to the db. if I try to pass arguments through the foreign key declaration like this i get an error straight away. is there an easy / better way to do this before I begin hacking down into django?

  • HTTPS and HTTParty - Timeout and EOF

    - by ferparra
    Hi all, I'm trying to post something to an HTTPS resource, but it seems it doesn't work. My code look something like this: require 'httparty' class MyClass include HTTParty base_uri "https://mydomain.com:8085/search" basic_auth 'admin', 'changeme' format :xml def mymethod self.class.post('/job', :query => {:search => "*"}) end end As you can see, I've defined an URI with 'https' included, so it should set the use_ssl property for the Net::HTTPS library automatically. For some reason, Net::HTTP is requested, and I never get in touch with the server, so I end up with an EOF. Any clues?

  • Controlling symbol generation in Clojure macros

    - by mikera
    I'm trying (as a self-learning exercise) to create a Clojure macro that will generate code to apply a function to a sequence of integers and sum the result, e.g. f(0) + f(1) + f(2) + f(3) This is my attempt: (defmacro testsum [func n] `(fn [x#] (+ ~@( map (fn [i] `(~func x#)) (range n))))) However something seems to go wrong with the x# gensym and I end up with two different versions of x and hence the function doesn't work: (macroexpand '(testsum inc 3)) gives: (fn* ([x__809__auto__] (clojure.core/+ (inc x__808__auto__) (inc x__808__auto__) (inc x__808__auto__)))) This is pretty much exactly what I want apart from the different 809 and 808 versions of x..... What am I doing wrong? I thought that the auto gensym was meant to create a single unique symbol for exactly this kind of purpose? Is there a better way of doing this?

  • Objective C Object Functioning & Passing Arrays

    - by Patrick
    I apologise if this has been asked before but I can't find the info I need. Basically I want a UITableView to be populated using info from a server, similar to the SeismicXML example. I have the parser as a separate object, is it correct to alloc, init an instance of that parser & then tell RootViewController to make it's table data source a copy of the parser's array. I can't include code because I haven't written anything yet, I'm just trying to get the design right before I start. Perhaps something like: xmlParser = [[XMLParser alloc] init]; [xmlParser getXMLData]; // Assuming xmlParser stores results in an array called returnedArray self.tableDataSource = xmlParser.returnedArray Is this the best way of doing it?

  • How to detect tap on uiview with lots of controls?

    - by kodcu
    My problem is about tap detection. I have a uiviewcontroller and there are some controls on uiview (labels, buttons, tableview, imageview, etc..) When I tap the uibutton I display a small uiview (200x150), if the user taps the uibuttons in smallview I hide the smallview. But I can't hide the uiview if the user taps the background. I tried this code.. -(void) touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ //NSLog(@"Touches began."); [self hideShareView]; } It doesn't work if I tap the another button in the uiviewcontrols view. I just want my uiviewcontrol's uiview to react first. I think its about firstResponder but I dont know how to set it first. edit: i want it to work like a uiPopover in ipad.

  • Using the system localizations on iPhone

    - by nevan
    I want to make a back button for a navigation controller with the title "Back" instead of the title of the previous controller. I'm using this code: UIBarButtonItem *backButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"Back", @"Back") style:UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered target:nil action:nil]; self.navigationItem.backBarButtonItem = backButton; I'd like to be able to skip localizing the "Back" string in my app (since I can only localize it in a limited number of languages). If I give my navigation controller no title, the back button will be automatically localized into whatever the language the user has chosen, so the system has translations of "Back" in many languages. Is there a way to access the localizations that are already present in the system and use them myself? These are things like "Back", "Cancel", "Done" and so on, which show up when creating one of the standard system buttons.

  • iphone: repeating a transformation

    - by gonso
    Hi I'm trying to represent a view that rotates on the iphone screen. I have a button and when you press it, the view rotates 180 degrees. My problem is that this only works the first time. Here is the code: -(IBAction) flip:(id)sender{ CGAffineTransform transform; //the transform matrix to be used below //BEGIN ANIMATIONS [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:2.0]; //animate if (flag){ transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation( RADIANS(180) ); } else { transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation( RADIANS(-180) ); } flag = !flag; transform = CGAffineTransformTranslate(transform, 0, 0); self.mySuview.transform = transform; //COMMIT ANIMATIONS [UIView commitAnimations]; } The first time you click, the view spins alright, but when you click again NOTHING happens. No errors, no changes on the view. What am I missing? Thanks Gonso
