  • jQuery: How to position one element relative to another?

    - by paul
    I have a hidden DIV which contains a toolbar-like menu. I have a number of DIVs which are enabled to show the menu DIV when the mouse hovers over them. Is there a built-in function which will move the menu DIV to the top right of the active (mouse hover) DIV? I'm looking for something like $(menu).position("topright", targetEl);

  • Why can't I dynamically add rows to a HTML table using JavaScript in Internet Explorer?

    - by karlthorwald
    In Firefox it works, in my Internet Explorer 6 or 7 it doesn't: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function newLine() { var tdmod = document.createElement('td'); tdmod.appendChild(document.createTextNode("dynamic")); var tr = document.createElement('tr'); tr.appendChild(tdmod); var tt = document.getElementById("t1"); tt.appendChild(tr); } </script> </head> <body> <a href="#" onclick="newLine()">newLine</a> <table id="t1" border="1"> <tr> <td> static </td> </tr> </table> </body> The user clicks on the link "newLine" and new rows should be added to the table. How to make this work also in IE? Edit: Thanks to the accepted answer I changed it like this and now it works: <table border="1"> <tbody id="t1"> <tr> <td> static </td> </tr> </tbody> </table>

  • Binding to element in WPF: can the Path expression do math?

    - by John
    Hi I'm trying to bind a control to the parent's Height/width property using ElementName and a Path. However, I don't want to bind to the actual height, but to exactly half the height. Can the Path expression do the math? e.g. Path={ActualHeight/2} I couldn't find a way to do that. IS there any other clever approach? Thanks!

  • Is there a way to rotate an html table?

    - by Josh
    Is there a way to rotate an html table? So, say I had a table like this: <table id="table-1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2"> <tr><td>1</td></tr> <tr><td>2</td></tr> <tr><td>3</td></tr> <tr><td>4</td></tr> <tr><td>5</td></tr> <tr><td>6</td></tr> </table> and wanted to some sort of button that had javascript behind it that could rotate the table any which direction. For example, clicking the right button, results in: <table id="table-1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2"> <tr><td>6</td><td>5</td><td>4</td><td>3</td><td>2</td><td>1</td></tr> </table> I have a drag and drop plugin that uses a table, and I am trying to do a piece that allows for a user to add to a queue (that results in the table), and then they can also rotate it around as well. Thanks.

  • Why does GC.GetTotalMemory() report huge memory allocations?

    - by Seventh Element
    I have been playing around with GC.GetTotalMemory(). When I create a local variable of type Titles in the example below, the consumed amount of memory increases by 6276 bytes. What's going on here? class Program { enum Titles { Mr, Ms, Mrs, Dr }; static void Main(string[] args) { GetTotalMemory(); Titles t = Titles.Dr; GetTotalMemory(); } static void GetTotalMemory() { long bytes = GC.GetTotalMemory(true); Console.WriteLine("{0}", bytes); } }

  • Can I have different name and id attributes on a form element?

    - by ewitkows
    Hi all, I have a web form with usual elements (first name, last name, etc). The Postback URL is a different website altogether as the form is intented to post lead information to another website. The site that accepts the lead is expecting First Name to come over as "FName", and Last Name to come over as "LName". Is there any way I can set the ID of a textbox to "txtFName", but submit it over the wire as "FName"? I tried changing the name attribute, but at runtime it sets the name = id.

  • Jquery ajax load not working

    - by Slay
    This is my code: test.html <html> <head> <title>test</title> <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.8.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <script> $(document).ready(function(){ $(window).bind('hashchange', function(){ $('#result').load('test2.html', function(){ alert('Load was performed.'); }); }); }); </script> </head> <body> <a href="#Test1">Test 1</a> <a href="#Test2">Test 2</a> <div id="result"></div> </body> </html> test2.html <h3>This is content from test2.html</h3> I want to detect the specific page to load using window.hash in change. For instance if user go to http://localhost/test.html#test2 The main container(result) in the page will do an ajax load call to test2.html to get the content. I can't manage to get this simple code working. Appreciate if someone can guide me in the right direction. Thanks.

  • How to check of which user-defined type a current JSON element is during $.each()?

    - by Bob
    I have the following structure for a JSON file: ({condos:[{Address:'123 Fake St.', Lat:'56.645654', Lng:'23.534546'},{... another condo ...},{...}],houses:[{Address:'1 Main Ave.', Lat:'34.765766', Lng:'27.8786674'},{... another house ...}, {...}]}) So, I have a list of condos and houses in one big JSON array. I want to plot them all on my map, but I want to give condos and houses different marker icons( blue marker for condos, green marker for houses ). Problem I have is - figuring out how to distinguish between types of markers when I $.each() through them. How would I use if to check whether I'm working with a condo or a house at the moment? var markers = null; $('#map').gmap(mapOptions).bind('init', function(){ $.post('getMarkers.php', function(json){ markers = json; $.each(markers, function(type, dataMembers) { $.each(dataMembers, function(i, j){ //if house use house.png to create marker $('#map').gmap('addMarker', { 'position': new google.maps.LatLng(parseFloat(Lat), parseFloat(Lng)), 'bounds':true, 'icon':'house.png' } ); //if condo use condo.png $('#map').gmap('addMarker', { 'position': new google.maps.LatLng(parseFloat(Lat), parseFloat(Lng)), 'bounds':true, 'icon':'condo.png' } ); }); }); }); });

  • Retrieving an element by array index in jQuery vs the each() function.

    - by Alex Ciminian
    I was writing a "pluginable" function when I noticed the following behavior (tested in FF 3.5.9 with Firebug 1.5.3). $.fn.computerMove = function () { var board = $(this); var emptySquares = board.find('div.clickable'); var randPosition = Math.floor(Math.random() * emptySquares.length); emptySquares.each(function (index) { if (index === randPosition) { // logs a jQuery object console.log($(this)); } }); target = emptySquares[randPosition]; // logs a non-jQuery object console.log(target); // throws error: attr() not a function for target board.placeMark({'position' : target.attr('id')}); } I noticed the problem when the script threw an error at target.attr('id') (attr not a function). When I checked the log, I noticed that the output (in Firebug) for target was: <div style="width: 97px; height: 97px;" class="square clickable" id="8"></div> If I output $(target), or $(this) from the each() function, I get a nice jQuery object: [ div#8.square ] Now here comes my question: why does this happen, considering that find() seems to return an array of jQuery objects? Why do I have to do $() to target all over again? [div#0.square, div#1.square, div#2.square, div#3.square, div#4.square, div#5.square, div#6.square, div#7.square, div#8.square] Just a curiosity :).

  • how to dynamically (re)position an element according to the bottom of the page using JS / Jquery?

    - by jon
    Hi All, the back story: i have a tab section on a page which when navigated through displays sections (divs) of varying height. the result, is that certain inputs (which are strangely positioned for reasons i can't change) on this page reposition themselves problematically. the proposed solution: as the page height changes, have these problem inputs repositioned according to the page bottom (from which their appropriate distances are always a constant). what i'm thinking is that i need some js that does something like, page height change triggers input position from bottom to = x. there are two inputs if that's at all relevant. :) if only there was css for this (i know there is under normal circumstances, but trust me -- not in this case). thanks for your time & help i've been struggling with this for weeks!

  • jQuery: Is it possible to assign a DOM element to a variable for later use?

    - by Braxo
    I'm working on a project that is using jQuery, which I'm much more familiar with Mootools. I'll start with my code first. var customNamespace = { status: 'closed', popup: $('#popup'), showPopup: function() { // ... } } $(document).ready(function(){ console.log($('#popup')); console.log(customNamespace.popup); console.log($(customNamespace.popup)); $('#popup').fadeIn('slow'); (customNamespace.popup).fadeIn('slow'); $(customNamespace.popup).fadeIn('slow'); }); My goal is to not have jQuery traverse the DOM everytime I want to do something with the #popup div, so I wanted to save it to a variable to use it throughout my script. When the page loads, the console prints out the object 3 times as I would expect, so I assumed that for each method, the fadeIn would just work. But it doesn't, only $('#popup').fadeIn('slow'); Actually fades in the div. Even if I remove my namespace hash, and just save the object to a global variable, and do a var globalVariable = $('#popup'); . . . globalVariable.fadeIn('slow'); Also does not work as I thought it would. Can jQuery do what I am trying to do?

  • CSS: is there any way to have the same relative positioning even if the previous element have differ

    - by Patrick
    hi, I have a sequence of couples of elements. (.div1, .div2) I'm using position:relative attribute on .div2 to move it a bit on top and right with respect to div1. However .div1 elements have different content and heights, so the relative positioning of .div2 is not consistent (they sometimes are too high, sometimes too low). .div2 { position:relative; left:200px; top:-300; } thanks

  • Specific path to java class file when embedded into HTML; Help urgent

    - by Jeevanism
    This is a resonant post to one of my other query due to an error with Java applet embedded into CMS pages. well, I tell issue:- Problem:- I have a website using Concrete 5 CMS, in which I have a page that I have embedded a Java applet class. This applet should show the system information which this applet is working fine in simple single HTML pages. now whenever I access my plugin Test page which created in Concrete 5 CMS (this page I embedded this java applet), it shows a Java error. The error is says incompatible Magic Number. Observation:- After a lot of searching through various tech forums, I finally found that, the issue is happened because the browser cannot load Java class file. The class file path location is wrong. Here below I post the log of server access when I test in my local machine. 127.0.0.1 - - [20/Dec/2012:12:59:28 +0800] "GET /linuxhouse/index.php/techlab/java/testvm.class HTTP/1.1" 200 1896 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (Linux 2.6.37.6-0.9-desktop) Java/1.6.0_29" 127.0.0.1 - - [20/Dec/2012:12:59:29 +0800] "GET /linuxhouse/index.php/techlab/java/testvm.class HTTP/1.1" 200 1896 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (Linux 2.6.37.6-0.9-desktop) Java/1.6.0_29" <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Clearly, the path to Java class file is wrong. But I have no idea how to specify exact path in an embedded code. Is this a CMS specific issue. I have disabled Pretty URL feature of CMS. But still I cannot find the solution. here the referred Page that shows the java error. http://www.linux-house.net/v3/techlab/plugin pls pls give some insight..URGENT SOS
