  • What is your notes taking tool ?

    - by ldigas
What is your notes taking tool ? By notes I mean everything from notes you personally wrote, clippings from the web, code snippets, images from the web ... Also, in what way does your tool of choice store its data. All compact in some directory which can easily be moved from one computer to the other, or on the net, or spread out into thousands of files.

  • Live overclocking on Windows

    - by Cyclone
I saw this question and just had to ask. How can I do this on my own PC, where do I find this software if it exists for your computer and what can I do? I never considered overclocking before because I know myself and I know I'd mess up my hardware in some stupid accident or mistake, but if I can just do it through software it'd be nice to give it a shot. It's an Inspiron 1520 laptop, and I'd be happy to provide any other information you need to assist me in this.

  • Wine and Kernel Access

    - by Kyle Rozendo
My knowledge on the topic is rather limited, but does one have Kernel access/the general ability to change programs at run time whilst running Wine? For Clarification: Can the user of the computer access any information they want via the Kernel on the underlying system running Wine, or does normal Windows security still apply?

Again, the permissions are right. I think I'm missing something that I couldn't find on the web. :( please help!

  • KMS host setup: Windows 8 and Server 2012 support

    - by Chadddada
As our client computer team is in the process of creating some Windows 8 images I have been charged with the setup of the KMS host to support this OS. I do currently run a 2003 KMS host that serves Office 2010, Server 2008, and Windows 7. However from looking at this Technet page it would seem that I cannot install Windows 8 or Server 2012 KMS host services on Server 2003. Am I reading that correctly?

  • How do I prevent windows opening on one of my desktops?

    - by frankster
I have 2 monitors and a tv screen connected to my computer. The tv is angled so I can watch it in bed but is facing away from my desk (and usually switched off). Sometimes applications open on the monitor and I have to fiddle around with the "Move" menu option to bring them back to one of the screens I can see. I don't want to disable the tv as I will just have to reenable it when I want to watch something on it, so how can I prevent applications opening on the tv?

  • Using Windows XP Mode Virtual Machine on a Domain

    - by DavidStein
I've followed the instructions and installed and configured the Windows Virtual PC XP Mode. I've added it as a machine on the network and can log into it and use network resources. In the process I removed the saved credentials, which are just a default local login to the VM. I need to know how to set this so that the VM auto logs in with the domain account credentials used to log into the physical computer. Google hasn't helped me find the answer.

  • Fedora 13 post security update boot problem

    - by Alex
Hello. About a month ago I installed a security update that had new Kernek 2.6.34.x from 2.6.33.x), this is when the problem occurred for the first time. After the install my computer would not boot at all, black screen without any visible hard drive activity (I gave it good 30 minutes on black screen, before took actions)... I poped in installation DVD and went in rescue mode to change back the boot option to old kernel (was just a guess where the problem was). After restart computer loaded just file, took a long time for it to start because of SELinux targeted policy relabel is required. Relabeling could take very long time depending on file size. I assumed that the update got messed up somehow and continued working with modified boot option. Couple of days ago, there was another kernel update. I installed it and same problem as before. This rules out corrupted update theory... Black screen right after 'BIOS' screen before OS gets loaded. I had to rescue system again... Below is copy of my grub.conf file. I am fairly new to LINUX (couple of years of experience), mostly development and basic config... nothing crazy. # grub.conf generated by anaconda # # Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file # NOTICE: You have a /boot partition. • Windows 8 not accepting password for a while

    - by soandos
I recently upgraded from windows 8 Consumer Preview to Windows 8 Pro (RTM through dreamspark premium), and have the following issue: When I attempt to log in after a restart, it often takes a while (~3 minutes) for the computer to accept the password (Each try goes relatively quickly, a few seconds at most before telling me I have an incorrect password). I changed the password, and this issue is unresolved (the old password came with the upgrade). What could be doing this?

  • Dual Monitors for Windows 8

    - by antonio081014
I have one monitor and a projector connecting to my computer, while the screen keep flashing after every 10 seconds, it seems the resolution keeps changing. The project is the a dual display for the monitor. They displays the same content. My current resolution is 1024*768, while after 10 seconds around, the resolution goes to something big, then after a few seconds, it goes back to 1024*768. I wonder if this is a problem about the resolution, or it's about the compatible of screen display?
