Hello,
I was trying to achieve count up timer with this jquery plugin.
As I am newbie on this, I really don't understand their documentation.
What I want to display is. I want to display counter which counts from 1st January 2005 till current date. Example of output display is
5 years 5months 5hours 5seconds (seconds will be keep counting)
Please kindly help me by posting snippets to achieve. Thanks for your time and greatly appreciated.
I have been looking at jquery plugin and was wondering how to adapt that plugin to turn a number (like 4.8618164) into a 4.8618164 stars filled out of 5. Basically interpreting a number <5 into stars filled in a 5-star rating system using jQuery/JS/CSS. Note that this would only display/show the stars rating from an already available number and not accept new ratings submissions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I know it might be simple to write some polling JS that asks the Rails application if it has completed a background job. But I wonder if anyone has already packaged up this functionality as a plugin.
Basically, I have a few delayed_jobs running, and am looking for a plugin that will poll the server for completion of a particular job, then activate a callback when it finds that the job is complete.
Any ideas anyone?

I'm coding an app (temporarily up here), and I want to make its parameters modifiable. I feel the best way to do this would be with your standard GUI slider elements (a la this, but not so ugly). I just noticed that the DOM doesn't provide these, however...
What's the best way to introduce sliders to a webpage? Is there a standard library that everybody uses? Should I just roll my own? Or should is there a different element I can use? Should I embed them in the canvas element somehow?
Hello, I am using an autocomplete widget, and would like a dialog to show when an item is selected. The dialog does show up, but I want a field in the dialog to receive focus when it opens. Here is what I have tried so far:
//HTML
<form action="#">
<p><input id="busca" /></p>
</form>
<div id="agregar" title="Agregar Parte">
<label for="cantidad">Cantidad:</label>
<input name="cantidad" id="cantidad" size="3" />
</div>
//jquery
$(function(){
$("#agregar").dialog({
autoOpen: false,
//also tried open: function(){$("#cantidad").focus()}
}
);
//.bind("dialogfocus", ... ) does not work either
$("#agregar").bind("focus", function(){
$("#cantidad").focus(); });
$("#busca").autocomplete({
source: "/carrito/autocomplete/",
minLength: 1,
select: function(e, ui) {
$("#agregar").dialog("open");
}
});
});
I think autoselect's default behavior is still doing something as the autoselect widget receives focus after the dialog is shown.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm wondering - is there any difference in performance of using CSS Transitions vs. any of the various JS animation libraries? (scriptaculous, scripty2, jsAnim, MooTools, $fx, etc, etc).
I've tried various tests in Safari / Google Chrome, and I don't actually see any difference -- I thought that CSS Transitions were supposed to be hardware accelerated.
I'm using jquery-ui 1.8, and getting this error in Internet Explorer:

Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround?
The error happens when I use droppable/draggable.
Here is what I want to do:
I have some json like this
var foo = {
format:"json",
type:"test",
id:"26443"
};
and I awant to put that in a url like this
'http://example.com/a:3:{s:6:"format";s:4:"json";s:4:"type";s:5:"test";s:2:"id";s:5:"26443";}'
which I will then put into ajax call but everything I have tried results in error 501 BAD URI could someone tell me how to do this
I've tried this
function js_array_to_php_array(a) {
var a_php = "";
var total = 3;
for (var key in a){
total;
a_php = a_php + "s:" + String(key).length + ":\"" + String(key) + "\";s:" + String(a[key]).length + ":\"" + String(a[key]) + "\";";
}
a_php = "a:" + total +":{" + a_php + "}";
return a_php;
}
which I found out on the web but had to mod to get to run but still no luck
Hi all,
I've spent a long time trying different things to get this to work but nothing does and documentation is not helping much.
I'm trying to populate a form inside an iframe that I dynamically inject into a page. To inject that iframe I do:
myObject.iframe = document.createElement("iframe");
myObject.iframe.setAttribute("src", data.url);
myObject.iframe.setAttribute("id","extension-iframe");
myObject.window.document.getElementById('publisher').appendChild(myObject.iframe);
myObject.iframe.addEventListener("load", function(){
myObject.populate(data);
}, false);
which works fine and DOES trigger the populate() method. My problem is getting the document or window objects for that iframe. I've tried all of the following:
myObject.iframe.window
myObject.iframe.document
myObject.iframe.content
but these are all undefined.
I also tried passing the event object to that iframe's load event listener and then doing:
event.originalTarget
But that didn't work either.
I am reading the following documentation:
https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Working%5Fwith%5Fwindows%5Fin%5Fchrome%5Fcode
https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Code%5Fsnippets/Interaction%5Fbetween%5Fprivileged%5Fand%5Fnon-privileged%5Fpages
But either I'm not understanding it or it's just not properly explained.
Can anyone shed some light?
Thanks!
I'm using Google Maps and have the map set to height/width=100%.
I noticed that when I resize the browser window, my map marker icons appear to redraw on top of the same location.
Meaning, if I should only have 1 map marker icon on "987 Main St", when I resize the browser window - multiple map marker icons are being now draw on top of "987 Main St" that shouldn't be there.
Any ideas why this is happening and how to prevent it?
UPDATE:
Link to actual code
I am calling the Google Analytics _trackEvent() function on a web page, and get back an error from the obfuscated Google code. In Firebug, it comes back "q is undefined". In Safari developer console: "TypeError: Result of expression 'q' [undefined] is not an object."
As a test, I have reduced the page to only this call, and still get the error back. Besides the necessary elements and the standard Google tracking code, my page is:
<script>
pageTracker._trackEvent('Survey', 'Checkout - Survey', 'Rating', 3);
</script>
Results is that error.
What's going on here?
This question is similar to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/161686/gwt-table-that-supports-sorting-scrolling-and-filtering
However I would prefer open source and I am looking for snappy performance. I want a good way to perform dynamic filtering on rows.
SmartGWT's adaptive filter looks interesting. http://www.smartclient.com/smartgwt/showcase/#grid_adaptive_filter_featured_category
Anyone have any experience with this?
I have a website that works fine in Firefox and IE but never finishes loading in Safari 4.0.4.
The live website loads a menu then loads a Google map. Using Safari, the Google map never loads.
I have a test website on the same server that uses the exact same code for loading a Google map and Safari can load the map (this is the one that won't load on my live web). This test website does not have the menu - only the Google map.
In both cases (live and test) the main web page calls a loadmap.js file.
I've been pulling everything apart to try to identify why Safari won't finish loading. Has anyone run across any problems/solutions with Safari that may help me find a resolution to this problem?
Hi all,
I've been looking around for a solution to this thing but I haven't found anything similar to what I'm looking for. The thing is that I've got a table filled with data from a database, and what I want is to change the background colour of an specific row depending on a value of the class I'm loading in each row. The thing is that I have to display some data but as the fields to be displayed are quite a lot, I don't have more space to show an status field, so I would like to show the row in red if the status is inactive, and the rest of the rows in the normal color of the blue stylesheet. Is there a way to do that through tablesorter? I'm opened to suggestions, as I'm not sure how to do it.
Thank you all in advance,
Victor
I have image and txt file of same size say 200 KB.
Now i would like to calculate the time to download the image and text of text file.
Now my question is adding image to DOM and and then calculating time on onload and requesting content of txt file using Ajax will they take same time or due to image and xml they will take different time ? why ?
Hey,
I have an input text :
<input name="Email" type="text" id="Email" value="[email protected]" />
I want to put a default value like "What's your programming question ? be specific." in StackOverFlow, and when the user click on it the default value disapear.
I use jquery blockUI plugin (v2) and call $.blockUI when user submits a form. Web page smoothly fades out and new page appears. That's ok. But when user presses "back" button in opera/fire fox he observes fade out page with hourglass mouse cursor that is completely blocked.
Chrome/IE visualize page ok.
What would you suggest?
Thank you in advance!
I'm using jquery.qTip on http://comps.gunnjerkens.com/phws/services/
Looks beautiful with the drop shadow and rounded borders in modern browsers...unfortunately the drop shadow is lost on IE. So I want to specify an IE-only rule that makes the border a different color than white. Here's how I currently have it setup:
$(this).qtip({
content: the_content,
position: {
corner: {
target: 'bottomLeft',
tooltip: 'topLeft'
},
adjust: {
screen: true
}
},
style: {
border: {
radius: 4,
color: '#FFFFFF'
},
color: '#7D9240'
}
}); // qtip()
});
I appreciate any help!
I am using nicEdit editor and i have added my own custom image resizing script to it. But i want to disable the default _moz_resizing that appears in firefox.
I wanted to have finer control over the image being resized. ( Eg: Allow only the image to resize and inherit the width of the parent container. )
So i wrote a custom script. But since firefox has its own image resizing control (_moz_resizing) how do i disable it? If there is no way to do so, i have a very simple workaround where i browser detect firefox and turn off my custom script and use the _moz_resizing instead.
But i won't have fine grained control and will have to rely on there being now browser bugs in firefox. :(
Hello there!
I'm having a really hard time debugging one of our latest reported bugs. The problem occurs "randomly", not on every page load, sometimes I can "click" around for a minute or two before IE6/7 crashes. By crash I mean that the IE-window shuts down and I get the option to send the crash info to Microsoft.
In FF, Chrome, Safari, IE8 everything is working perfectly.
What the page does is issuing 2 AJAX Jsonp calls and building some menus with the data returned. The data brought back can be from ~500b to approx. 35kb.
The JSON is valid (else it wouldn't have loaded at all in FF etc), and as i told previous, it works for when navigating around the site soemtimes in IE6/7.
I've tested to comment out the callbacks, still crashes. If I remove the $.ajax calls the page will work again.
Whats strange is that if I downgrade to jQuery 1.3.2 everything works in all browsers including IE6/7.
I've taken the crash-logs and looked at them in WinDbg and what happens seems to be a NULL POINTER reference.
The last entries of the stack trace is as follows
mshtml!CTreePos::SourceIndex+0x9
mshtml!CMarkup::InsertElementInternal+0x3a8
mshtml!CDoc::InsertElement+0x98
mshtml!CDocument::get_implementation+0x144
Anyone having a clue what could cause this?
I'm using FeinCMS (https://github.com/feincms/feincms/) and django-ckeditor with file upload support (https://github.com/shaunsephton/django-ckeditor).
I create a FeinCMS content type for RichTextField:
class RichContent(models.Model):
text = RichTextField(_('text'))
class Meta:
abstract = True
verbose_name = _('Rich Text')
verbose_name_plural =_('Rich Text')
def render(self, **kwargs):
context_instance = kwargs.get('context_instance')
return render_to_string('content/page/rich_content.html', {
'page': self,
}, context_instance=context_instance)
But in Django admin, when i select 'Rich Text' and press 'Go', get this error in firebug console:
uncaught exception: [CKEDITOR.editor] The instance "id_richcontent_set-__prefix__-text" already exists.
And textarea in ckeditor do not editable.
I'm using the FullCalendar plugin, and am very pleased with it, however I can't figure out how to enable resizing. I looked at the source of the calendar on the main FullCalendar page, and my code is no different save that I get my events from a source rather than explicitly define them.
What am I missing?
$('#schedule').fullCalendar({
events: '/campaigns/scheduled',
editable: true
});
