  • Programatically Dial a Phone number and pass DTMF using the iPhone SDK

    - by L. DPenha
    How do you programatically do the following from the iPhone SDK 1) Programatically Dial a Phone Number through the iPhone SDK 2) Bypass the dial / cancel prompt that the iPhone brings up 3) Send additional DTMF after the number is dialed just like how you would program pauses into a regular phone. I know you can make a tel:// call but the issue is that it brings up the dial / cancel prompt and after that it prevents any future DTMF from being sent.

  • ModelMultipleChoiceField and reverse()

    - by celopes
    I have a form containing a ModelMultipleChoiceField. Is it possible to come up with a url mapping that will capture a varying number of parameters from said ModelMultipleChoiceField? I find myself doing a reverse() call in the view passing the arguments of the form submission and realized that I don't know how to represent, in the urlconf, the multiple values from the SELECT tag rendered for the ModelMultipleChoiceField...

  • How to rate-limit a pipe under linux ?

    - by Frédéric Grosshans
    Is there a filter which I could use to rate-limit a pipe on linux? If this exists, let call it rate-limit, I want to be able to type in a terminal something like cat /dev/urandom | rate-limit 3 -k | foo in order to send a a stream of random bytes to foo's standard input at a rate (lower than) 3 kbytes/s.

  • Facebook API: Set User Status with "@mentions" integration

    - by JWD
    StackOverflow'ers, I realize the new "@mentions" is a very new feature to facebook, but can any of you think of how to access this feature using the Facebook API? I would assume there would need to be a separate call to get a list of available users/applications/ect... I am just brainstorming here, I realize this may not be possible yet. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

    Hello guys, I've an application where, for testing, I need to replace the time.time() call with a specific timestamp, I've done that in the past using ruby (code available here: http://github.com/zemariamm/Back-to-Future/blob/master/back_to_future.rb ) However I do not know how to do this using Python. Any hints ? Cheers, Ze Maria

  • jQuery "Access Is Denied" Error

    - by Jimbo
    I have an $.ajax() request that queries currency exchange rate information from another web server, which is the reason (I believe) for which I am getting an "Access Is Denied" error on the $.ajax() call. Is there a way to permit this type of activity?

  • Generate a random alphanumeric string in cocoa

    - by Ward
    Hey there, I know this can't be that hard. I've searched, but I can't seem to find a simple solution. I want to call a method, pass it the length and have it generate a random alphanumeric string. Any ideas? Are there any utility libraries out there that may have a bunch of these types of functions? Thanks, Howie

  • Flash -> ByteArray -> AMFPHP -> Invalid Image !??

    - by undefined
    Hi, Im loading images into Flash and using JPGEncoder to encode the image to a ByteArray and send this to AMF PHP which writes out the bytearray to a file. This all appears to work correctly and I can download the resulting file in Photoshop CS4 absolutely fine. When i try to open it from the desktop or open it back in Flash it doesnt work... Picasa my default image browser says "Invalid" Here is the code i use to write the bytearray to a file - $jpg = $GLOBALS["HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA"]; file_put_contents($filename, $jpg); That's it ... I use the NetConnection class to connect and call the service, do I need to say Im sending jpg data? I assumed that JPGEncoder took care of that. How can I validate the bytearray before writing the file? Do I need to set MIME type or something .. excuse the slightly noob questions, a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. Thanks --------------------------------------- PART II ------------------------------------------ Here is some code - 1) load the image into Flash player item.load(); function _onImageDataLoaded(evt:Event):void { var tmpFileRef:FileReference=FileReference(evt.target); image_loader=new Loader ; image_loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, _onImageLoaded); image_loader.loadBytes(tmpFileRef.data); } function _onImageLoaded(evt:Event):void { bitmap=Bitmap(evt.target.content); bitmap.smoothing=true; if (bitmap.width>MAX_WIDTH||bitmap.height>MAX_HEIGHT) { resizeBitmap(bitmap); } uploadResizedImage(bitmap); } function resizeBitmap(target:Bitmap):void { if (target.height>target.width) { target.width=MAX_WIDTH; target.scaleY=target.scaleX; } else if (target.width >= target.height) { target.height=MAX_HEIGHT; target.scaleX=target.scaleY; } } function uploadResizedImage(target:Bitmap):void { var _bmd:BitmapData=new BitmapData(target.width,target.height); _bmd.draw(target, new Matrix(target.scaleX, 0, 0, target.scaleY)); var encoded_jpg:JPGEncoder=new JPGEncoder(90); var jpg_binary:ByteArray=encoded_jpg.encode(_bmd); _uploadService=new NetConnection(); _uploadService.objectEncoding=ObjectEncoding.AMF3 _uploadService.connect("http://.../amfphp/gateway.php"); _uploadService.call("UploadService.receiveByteArray",new Responder(success, error), jpg_binary, currentImageFilename); } Many thanks for you help

I made sure have reference to ConfigurationManager but very simple call from form load value returns null here is code. void LoadSettings() { // I expect to get from my app.config or settings.settings // Settings file set to application, public m_connStr = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["somestring"]; // m_connStr is getting Null. I tried .ToString(); That throws a null exception. }

  • How to run a powershell script within a DOS batch file

    - by Don Vince
    How do I have a powershell script embedded within the same file as a DOS batch script? I know this kind of thing is possible in other scenarios: Embedding SQL in a DOS batch script using sqlcmd and a clever arrangements of goto's and comments at the beginning of the file In a *nix environment having a the name of the program you wish to run the script with on the first line of the script commented out e.g. #!/usr/local/bin/python There may not be a way to do this - in which case I will have to call the separate powershell script from the launching DOS script. One possible solution I've considered is to echo out the powershell script, and then run it. A good reason to not do this is that part of the reason to attempt this is to be using the advantages of the powershell environment without the pain of, for example, DOS escape characters I have some unusual constraints and would like to find an elegant solution. I suspect this question may be baiting responses of the variety: "why don't you try and solve this different problem instead." Suffice to say these are my constraints, sorry about that. Any ideas? Is there a suitable combination of clever comments and escape characters that will enable me to achieve this? Some thoughts on how to achieve this: A carat ^ at the end of a line in DOS is a continuation - like an underscore in VB An ampersand & in DOS typically is used to separate commands echo Hello & echo World results in 2 echos on separate lines %0 will give you the script that's currently running So something like this (if I could make it work) would be good: # & call powershell -psconsolefile %0 # & goto :EOF /* From here on in we're running nice juicy powershell code */ Write-Output "Hello World" Except... It doesn't work... because the extension of the file isn't as per powershell's liking: Windows PowerShell console file "insideout.bat" extension is not psc1. Windows PowerShell console file extension must be psc1. DOS isn't really altogether happy with the situation either - although it does stumble on '#' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

  • Asynchronous callback for network in Objective-C Iphone

    - by vodkhang
    I am working with network request - response in Objective-C. There is something with asynchronous model that I don't understand. In summary, I have a view that will show my statuses from 2 social networks: Twitter and Facebook. When I clicked refresh, it will call a model manager. That model manager will call 2 service helpers to request for latest items. When 2 service helpers receive data, it will pass back to model manager and this model will add all data into a sorted array. What I don't understand here is that : when response from social networks come back, how many threads will handle the response. From my understanding about multithreading and networking (in Java), there must have 2 threads handle 2 responses and those 2 threads will execute the code to add the responses to the array. So, it can have race condition and the program can go wrong right? Is it the correct working model of iphone objective-C? Or they do it in a different way that it will never have race condition and we don't have to care about locking, synchronize? Here is my example code: ModelManager.m - (void)updateMyItems:(NSArray *)items { self.helpers = [self authenticatedHelpersForAction:NCHelperActionGetMyItems]; for (id<NCHelper> helper in self.helpers) { [helper updateMyItems:items]; // NETWORK request here } } - (void)helper:(id <NCHelper>)helper didReturnItems:(NSArray *)items { [self helperDidFinishGettingMyItems:items callback:@selector(model:didGetMyItems:)]; break; } } // some private attributes int *_currentSocialNetworkItemsCount = 0; // to count the number of items of a social network - (void)helperDidFinishGettingMyItems:(NSArray *)items { for (Item *item in items) { _currentSocialNetworkItemsCount ++; } NSLog(@"count: %d", _currentSocialNetworkItemsCount); _currentSocialNetworkItemsCount = 0; } I want to ask if there is a case that the method helperDidFinishGettingMyItems is called concurrently. That means, for example, faceboook returns 10 items, twitter returns 10 items, will the output of count will ever be larger than 10? And if there is only one single thread, how can the thread finishes parsing 1 response and jump to the other response because, IMO, thread is only executed sequently, block of code by block of code

    Hi, i was planning to use jquery autocomplete for a site and have implemented a test version. Im now using an ajax call to retrieve a new list of strings for every character input. The problem is that it gets rather slow, 1.5s before the new list is populated. What is the best way to make autocomplete fast? Im using cakephp and just doing a find and with a limit of 10 items. • IE doesnot clear Flash Object from memory

    - by Abhi
    Hi, I have dynamically added a Flex Object in a HTML page through JavaScript. The Flex object is located in a "div" tag. Now when I call the "removeChild" JavScript function to remove the dynamically added "Object" tag, the object tag gets removed succesfully; however the memory that has increased due to the loading of the Flex Object is never recollected by IE. Even if I refresh the browser the memory is still not cleared. How do I recollect the memory that was allocayed to my Flex Object?

  • Using Reflection.Emit to match existing constructor

    - by yodaj007
    First, here is the C# code and the disassembled IL: public class Program<T> { private List<T> _items; public Program(T x, [Microsoft.Scripting.ParamDictionary] Microsoft.Scripting.IAttributesCollection col) { _items = new List<T>(); _items.Add(x); } } Here is the IL of that constructor: .method public hidebysig specialname rtspecialname instance void .ctor(!T x, class [Microsoft.Scripting]Microsoft.Scripting.IAttributesCollection col) cil managed { .param [2] .custom instance void [Microsoft.Scripting]Microsoft.Scripting.ParamDictionaryAttribute::.ctor() = ( 01 00 00 00 ) // Code size 34 (0x22) .maxstack 8 IL_0000: ldarg.0 IL_0001: call instance void [mscorlib]System.Object::.ctor() IL_0006: nop IL_0007: nop IL_0008: ldarg.0 IL_0009: newobj instance void class [mscorlib]System.Collections.Generic.List`1<!T>::.ctor() IL_000e: stfld class [mscorlib]System.Collections.Generic.List`1<!0> class Foo.Program`1<!T>::_items IL_0013: ldarg.0 IL_0014: ldfld class [mscorlib]System.Collections.Generic.List`1<!0> class Foo.Program`1<!T>::_items IL_0019: ldarg.1 IL_001a: callvirt instance void class [mscorlib]System.Collections.Generic.List`1<!T>::Add(!0) IL_001f: nop IL_0020: nop IL_0021: ret } // end of method Program`1::.ctor I am trying to understand the IL code by emitting it myself. This is what I have managed to emit: .method public hidebysig specialname rtspecialname instance void .ctor(!T A_1, class [Microsoft.Scripting]Microsoft.Scripting.IAttributesCollection A_2) cil managed { // Code size 34 (0x22) .maxstack 4 IL_0000: ldarg.0 IL_0001: call instance void [mscorlib]System.Object::.ctor() IL_0006: ldarg.0 IL_0007: newobj instance void class [mscorlib]System.Collections.Generic.List`1<!T>::.ctor() IL_000c: stfld class [mscorlib]System.Collections.Generic.List`1<!0> class MyType<!T>::_items IL_0011: ldarg.0 IL_0012: ldfld class [mscorlib]System.Collections.Generic.List`1<!0> class MyType<!T>::_items IL_0017: ldarg.s A_1 IL_0019: nop IL_001a: nop IL_001b: nop IL_001c: callvirt instance void class [mscorlib]System.Collections.Generic.List`1<!T>::Add(!0) IL_0021: ret } // end of method MyType::.ctor There are a few differences that I just can't figure out. I'm really close... How do I take care of the parameter attribute (ParamDictionaryAttribute)? I can't find a 'custom' opcode. Is the .param [2] important? How do I emit that? Why is the C# code stack size 8, while my emitted version is 4? Is this important?

  • Python: How to read huge text file into memory

    - by asmaier
    I'm using Python 2.6 on a Mac Mini with 1GB RAM. I want to read in a huge text file $ ls -l links.csv; file links.csv; tail links.csv -rw-r--r-- 1 user user 469904280 30 Nov 22:42 links.csv links.csv: ASCII text, with CRLF line terminators 4757187,59883 4757187,99822 4757187,66546 4757187,638452 4757187,4627959 4757187,312826 4757187,6143 4757187,6141 4757187,3081726 4757187,58197 So each line in the file consists of a tuple of two comma separated integer values. I want to read in the whole file and sort it according to the second column. I know, that I could do the sorting without reading the whole file into memory. But I thought for a file of 500MB I should still be able to do it in memory since I have 1GB available. However when I try to read in the file, Python seems to allocate a lot more memory than is needed by the file on disk. So even with 1GB of RAM I'm not able to read in the 500MB file into memory. My Python code for reading the file and printing some information about the memory consumption is: #!/usr/bin/python # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- import sys infile=open("links.csv", "r") edges=[] count=0 #count the total number of lines in the file for line in infile: count=count+1 total=count print "Total number of lines: ",total infile.seek(0) count=0 for line in infile: edge=tuple(map(int,line.strip().split(","))) edges.append(edge) count=count+1 # for every million lines print memory consumption if count%1000000==0: print "Position: ", edge print "Read ",float(count)/float(total)*100,"%." mem=sys.getsizeof(edges) for edge in edges: mem=mem+sys.getsizeof(edge) for node in edge: mem=mem+sys.getsizeof(node) print "Memory (Bytes): ", mem The output I got was: Total number of lines: 30609720 Position: (9745, 2994) Read 3.26693612356 %. Memory (Bytes): 64348736 Position: (38857, 103574) Read 6.53387224712 %. Memory (Bytes): 128816320 Position: (83609, 63498) Read 9.80080837067 %. Memory (Bytes): 192553000 Position: (139692, 1078610) Read 13.0677444942 %. Memory (Bytes): 257873392 Position: (205067, 153705) Read 16.3346806178 %. Memory (Bytes): 320107588 Position: (283371, 253064) Read 19.6016167413 %. Memory (Bytes): 385448716 Position: (354601, 377328) Read 22.8685528649 %. Memory (Bytes): 448629828 Position: (441109, 3024112) Read 26.1354889885 %. Memory (Bytes): 512208580 Already after reading only 25% of the 500MB file, Python consumes 500MB. So it seem that storing the content of the file as a list of tuples of ints is not very memory efficient. Is there a better way to do it, so that I can read in my 500MB file into my 1GB of memory?
