I realize there is a similar question to this, but it really has no information in it. I want to retrieve the currently playing song title (similar to MSN Messenger) within a C# app. The Windows Media Player I want to control is EXTERNAL- that is, it is running on the computer, not within the app. Anyway to do this?
Does anyone know how I can determine if an application is able to accept Tablet PC input? i.e. some kind of hittest or windows message that I can send it?
thanks,

Is there a Java library/API available to interact with Windows OS, like executing commands on the command prompt and returning the output back to the program?
Being a C#/Java programmer, I really need to know a fact: Has Windows Programming with Win32SDK/MFC/wxWidget become antiquated?
What is the status of popularity of these technologies in software industry now?
Being a C#/Java programmer, do I need to learn Win32SDK/MFC/wxWidget now?
Is there any way to access the Windows Event Log from a java class. Has anyone written any APIs for this, and would there be any way to access the data from a remote machine?
The scenario is:
I run a process on a remote machine, from a controlling Java process.
This remote process logs stuff to the Event Log, which I want to be able to see in the controlling process.
Thanks in advance.
I installed emacs 23.3.1 in c:/emacs-23.3.
Following the hints in this page, I updated the site-start.el to set HOME environment variable.
(setenv "HOME" "c:/users/USER/emacs")
And I made c:/users/USER/.emacs (like I did in unix/mac) to write the code for using slime, but it doesn't seem to start slime correctly.
Is this a correct way of setting emacs in Windows 7? Where do I put the .emacs file?
Can you tell me the meaning of this statement.I am using windows 2008 server OS
Log Problem must be changed so that it elevates privileges for a user executing the Problem.

Is there a way to develop iPhone applications on Windows? I really don't want to get yet another machine.
There is a project on http://code.google.com/p/winchain/wiki/HowToUse that seemed to work with iPhone 1.0, but had limited success with iPhone 2.0, plus it requires all the cygwin insanity.
Is there anything else, or do I have to buy a mac?
I need a recommendation of a free tool (even for a trial) for detecting memory leaks in C++ under Windows (Visual Studio 2005).
I've looked in the net, but I would prefer a recommendation.
From cmd on windows, you can stype "start filename" and an action will be taken based on the type of the file. EXEs will launch, JPEGs will have an associated file viewer opened, etc..
Is there a way to do this on Linux / Ubuntu?
I'd like to know if it is possible to have this application (neo4j) running on windows server 2008 alongside an asp.net mvc application. Reason for this, I need to access the graph database (neo4j) which provides a RESTful service from my mvc application. How would I go about setting up this architecture?
Hi,
I am looking for a Windows graphical utility for performing HTTP operations.
For example, I want to be able to say things like:
POST to http://example.org/test/service
With a POST body: "Data goes here"
Does anyone know a good piece of software for doing this?
Hello,
I have setup a server with Windows 2008 R2 Core Web Edition. The question is, how can I install the IIS7 SMTP service? Or is SMTP missing in the Core editions?
Thank you
Does anyone know a Library which provides a Thread.sleep() for Java which has an error not higher than 1-2 Millisecond?
I tried a mixture of Sleep, error measurement and BusyWait but I don't get this reliable on different windows machines.
It can be a native implementation if the implementation is available for Linux and MacOS too.
EDIT
The link Nick provided ( http://blogs.sun.com/dholmes/entry/inside_the_hotspot_vm_clocks ) is a really good resource to understand the issues all kinds of timers/sleeps/clocks java has.
I'm looking for a tool along the lines of Fiddler, or better yet Wireshark, that would run on a Windows Mobile 6.1 device.
I have an app which calls some webservices on one of our servers, and I want to make sure it it going out to the proper address.
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
a relative of mine has a problem. She's working at a company, using Windows 7 and can't set a password because if she's not there her boss might want to use some of her data, but she has suspicions that there is a colleague who spies on her files, because there is no password set for her computer. Does anybody know how can somebody view some kind of history of when was the computer turned on before and what files were opened/runned?
Thanksin advance for your answers.
I heard that Windows 7 restricts access to its registry, so that applications cannot write directly to it. Is this so? I am developing an application in C#, and I would like to be able to save things such as port settings, last file used, etc. between sessions. Is the registry still a good option, or is there another preferred means of doing this now? Thanks.
