  Quick resolution: Give full permission to AUTHENTICATED USERS in following folders. a) ORACLE_HOME b) Program Files\ORACLE   Check your PATH. You might have installed different clients in your system and your .NET application is pointing to a home with inappoperiate client. What your .NET application should load is OCI.DLL with File version more than 8.1.7. According to the MSDN document Oracle and ADO.NET:   "The .NET Framework Data Provider for Oracle provides access to an Oracle database using the Oracle Call Interface (OCI) as provided by Oracle Client software. The functionality of the data provider is designed to be similar to that of the .NET Framework data providers for SQL Server, OLE DB, and ODBC. "     The MSDN document System Requirements (Oracle) says: "The .NET Framework Data Provider for Oracle requires Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.6 or later. MDAC 2.8 SP1 is recommended. You must also have Oracle 8i Release 3 (8.1.7) Client or later installed. "   Both the .NET Framework Data Provider for Oracle and Oracle Data Provider for .NET are data providers to access Oracle database. The former ships with .NET Framework and requires Oracle client version 8.1.7 or above.   Here is the flag to enable or to disable JSSE.-Dweblogic.ssl.JSSEEnabled=true|false Oracle recommends that you keep this value set to true.  Starting WLS 12c, Even if the above option is set to false , it is ignored. The changes are neither persisted nor the Mbean value is also left unmodified.... Please also be aware of the below changes in SSL implementation in 12c version 1. Certicom has been removed from WebLogic Server 12.1.1 and is no longer supported. 2. JSSE is the only SSL implementation that is supported in WebLogic Server 12.1.1. The following configuration changes have been made to be consistent with this support: The default for JSSEEnabled has been changed to true. Oracle recommends that you keep this value set to true. If JSSEEnabled is set to false, it will be ignored. That is, the MBean value will not be changed either in memory or the persisted config.xml file. • https:// search results appearing on Google for purely http:// site

  I started weeding through my site's search results from Google today, using a site: search, to determine if there are any links that cause 404s and thus need redirecting. To my amazement I noticed numerous https:// results relating to various pages. My site doesn't have a SSL certificate, doesn't serve such pages, doesn't internally link to https:// pages, doesn't include any such files in its sitemap.xml and, for all of these, never has. I decided to do a Google search for https://<my site> and found one site that incorrectly refers to the root of my site with a https:// prefix - I will try to contact them to get them to correct this. I'm not sure however how Googlebot managed to index the non-root files as https://. I can't find any external links to them and surely, without certification, Googlebot should have stalled at the first request? I've just added the following lines to the site's .htaccess (although the surfer still has to navigate through the browser's "This site is a security risk. Abandon hope all ye who enter here!" message(s) first to get there): RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTPS} on RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.<my site>.org/$1 [R=301,L] replacing <my site> with my domain name. My big question is this though - I would like to use the Google Webmaster Tools Remove URLs feature to remove the https:// pages from the index. Can I be guaranteed that this will only remove the https:// versions of each relevant page and not the valid http:// versions? My thanks to anyone who can help me out with this particular question and the issue in general.

• SOA Forcing A Shift In IT Governance

  As more and more companies adopt a service oriented approach to developing and maintaining existing enterprise systems, IT governance also needs to shift its philosophies to fit the emerging development paradigm. When I first started programming companies placed an emphasis on “Code and Go” software development style. They only developed for current problems and did not really take a look at how the company could leverage some of the code we were developing across the entire enterprise system.  The concept of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) has dramatically shifted how we develop enterprise software with emphasizing software processes as company assets. This has driven some to start developing new components as processes strictly for the possibility of future integration of existing and new systems. I personally like this new paradigm because it truly promotes code reusability. However, most enterprise level IT governance polices were created prior to the introduction of SOA in their respected organization. This can create a sense of the Wild West for developers working on projects related to SOA. This is due to the fact that a lot of the standards and polices implemented by enterprise IT governing boards were initially for developing under the “Code and Go” paradigm and do not take in to account idiosyncrasies found in the SOA/integration based development. As IT governance moves forward its focus should aim more for “Develop to Integrate” versus “Code and Go” philosophies. Examples of “Develop to Integrate” Philosophy: Defining preferred data transfer methodologies (XML vs. JSON), and when to use them Updating security best practices for exposing public services based on existing standard security policies Define when to use create new SOA project vs. implementing localized components that could be reused elsewhere in the enterprise.

• Creating a vm using Hyper-V causes the host of BSOD

  Hi, Problem description: When I try to create a virtual machine, the host bsod part way through the process. From the logs in lookes to fail/hang on the "Creating new VirtualDisckDriver with new VHD" step. The BSOD error code is SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION : STOP:0x0000003B When the machine has finished restarting, it looks to have created the vhd and XML files for the vm but it isn't accessable. I have two server bothing behaving in exactly the same way, so I don't believe it's a hardware fault. Has anyone had a similar experince? How did you resolve the problem? • Gentoo Linux -> Ubuntu: Can I Preserve My LVM/RAID Devices, Or Do I Need To Reformat?

  Hello: I've got a Gentoo box that I'm interested in switching over to an Ubuntu box. I currently have the partitions laid out using a mixture of RAID (mdadm) and LVM2, as specified in this document [1]. Ideally I'd like to just wipe out the non /home partition, as it's got data I'd like to keep. Is it possible to reuse the current setup, or do I need to restart? vgdisplay, vgchange -a y, etc don't yield any results from the Ubuntu LiveCD, and I'm wary to run any commands that might wipe my data. There is a default self-tuning Work Manager, but you might want to set up a custom work manager in some circumstances: for example, when you want the server to prioritize one application over another when a response time goal is required, or when a minimum thread constraint is needed to avoid deadlock. The Work Manager Shutdown Trigger is a tool to help with stuck threads in which will do the following: Shut down the Work Manager. Move the application to Admin State (not active). Change the Server instance health state to failed. • How to configure JAAS on JBoss?

  Hey Im having a problem with "Failed to load users/passwords/role files: java.io.IOException: No properties file: users.properties or defaults: defaultUsers.properties found" error from jboss. No matter what I change in conf/login-config.xml always that same error. Turning on TRACE for org.jboss.security shows that it does Security domain: myapp followed by findResource: null and the above error. Ive tryed adding a users.properties to my .war WEB-INF/classes/users.properties to no avail. Why is jBoss doing like this? What is this JAAS and why does it need it? What does it require, where to put what files, if its possible Ill remove all of this org.jboss.security.auth.spi.UsersRolesLoginModule completly, just let me use my app. Thanks

• NHibernate Tools: Visual NHibernate

  You probably know that I’m a big fan of Slyce Software’s Visual NHibernate. To me, it is the best tool for generating your entities and mappings from an existing database (it also allows you to go the other way, but I honestly have never used it that way). What I like most about it: Great support: folks at Slyce always listen to your suggestions, give you feedback in a timely manner, and I was even lucky enough to have some of my suggestions implemented! The templating engine, which is very powerful, and more user-friendly than, for example, MyGeneration’s; one of the included templates is Sharp Architecture; Advanced model validations: it even warns you about having lazy properties declared in non-lazy entities; Integration with NHibernate Validator and generation of validation rules automatically based on the database, or on user-defined model settings; The designer: they opted for not displaying all entities in a single screen, which I think was a good decision; has support for all inheritance strategies (table per class hierarchy, table per class, table per concrete class); Generation of FluentNHibernate mappings as well as hbm.xml. I could name others, but… why don’t you see for yourself? There is a demo version available for downloading. By the way, I am in no way related to Slyce, I just happen to like their software!

• How programmers can afford to NOT learn new things.

  Good day! I am wondering how programmers learn many things because as a career shifter (from engineering to IT), I find it really hard to absorb everything. Three months ago, I learned HTML/CSS/Javascript. Two months ago, I learned mySQL and CCNA1. One month ago I learned C and Java. Now I am trying to learn J2EE. But it seems that I must combine everything I learned then add more into my brain (especially because J2EE is HUGE! -- XML, servlets, JSP, JSTL, EJB, frameworks(Hibernate, Structs, Spring), JDBC... and so on!!!) So I am wondering, how can programmers learn everything, then add something new without being confused of everything! Because Right now, I feel like my brain is going to explode because of information overload! And these knowledge I am trying to acquire are just the BASICS of programming (icing on the cake)! I still need to learn MORE to become a good programmer! And new technology emerges now and then that requires programmers to learn more again.. Learn.. learn.. learn... Any suggestions on how you as a programmer fit all you've learned into your brain? And how do you know which is the right thing for you to learn? Aren't you afraid that what you've learned may be obsolete next year then start learning again...?

• Connection Reset by Peer error with Apache and JBoss 7.1.1

  We are seeing errors on some of our QA testing scripts that intermittently throw Connection Reset By Peer errors. The Test scripts submit requests via F5 which forwards requests to Apache (2.2.21) with a mod_jk load_balancer with the following setting for each worker in the worker.property worker1 props worker.worker1.type=ajp13 worker.worker1.port=8109 worker.worker1.lbfactor=1 worker.worker1.host=skunkhost1.com worker.worker1.connection_pool_timeout=30 and here is what is in the JBoss domain.xml for the AJP port from JBoss 7.1.1 <unbounded-queue-thread-pool name="SKUNKY.APP.AJP"> <max-threads count="300"/> <keepalive-time time="3" unit="minutes"/> </unbounded-queue-thread-pool> Here is httpd.conf Timeout 300 KeepAlive On KeepAliveTimeout 15 MaxKeepAliveRequests 100 TraceEnable Off My question is that is it posisbe that apache times out and closes the connection while jboss is still ready and working on the request? • How to find source of 301/302 redirect loop? Heroku GoDaddy Zerigo

  this should be a relatively simple problem but I'm having trouble.I hope this is the right forum to post on as I've seen people get booted off stack-overflow for this sort of thing. I've setup a web app on heroku (cedar stack) at my-web-app.herokuapp.com and I'm trying to direct my-domain.com and www.my-domain.com to it. As per instructions on the heroku documentation, I've set my-domain.com to redirect (forwarding) to www.my-domain.com and then set a C-Name from www.my-domain.com to my-web-app.herokuapp.com. But the C-Name doesn't seem to be working right and is sending back to my-domain.com, causing a loop and I can't work out why. I first configured these setting at GoDaddy.com where I registered the domain but then tried to avoid the problem by using Heroku's Zerigo DNS add-on, setting the nameservers on GoDaddy to the ones given for Zerigo. However the problem remains. • Should we choose Java over C# or we should consider using Mono?

  We are a small team of independent developers with an average experience of 7 years in C#/.NET platform. We almost work on small to average web application projects that allows us to choose our favorite platform. I believe that our current platform (C#/.NET) allows us to be more productive than if we were working in Java but what makes me think about choosing Java over C# is the costs and the community (of the open source). Our projects allow us even work with various frameworks as well as various platforms. For example we can even use Nancy. So we are able to decrease the costs by using Mono which can be deployed on Linux servers. But I'm looking for a complete ecosystem (IDE/Platform/Production Environment) that decreases our costs and makes us feel completely supported by the community. As an example of issues I've experienced with MonoDevelop, I can refer to the poor support of the Razor syntax on MonoDevelop. As another example, We are using "VS 2012 Express for Web" as our IDE to decrease the costs but as you know it doesn't support plugins and I have serious problems with XML comments (I missed GhostDoc). We strongly believe in strongly-typed programming languages so please don't offer the other languages and platforms such as Ruby, PHP, etc. Now I want to choose between: Keep going on C#, buy some products and be hopeful about openness of .NET ecosystem and its open source community.   Although there are Office 2013 settings to change how encryption is performed, when you encrypt Open XML Format files (.docx, .xslx, .pptx, and so on) the default values — AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), 128-bit key length, SHA1, and CBC (cipher block chaining) — provide strong encryption and should be fine for most organizations.   I am working with an eCommerce company that has outgrown their hacked together backend for managing inventory, pricing and feeds to various shopping engines (Yahoo, 3d cart, Amazon, etc.). They currently manage about 12,000 skus and are doing $40M in revenue. Their internal people are working on a new Magento solution, but that is six months away and they need to replace/improve their current solution in order to hold them over. Their current solution was developed by two people who have left the company. What tools/architecture do other eCommerce sites use to manage their inventory, pricing, product descriptions and feed generation for the shopping engines? The current solution looks like this: 1) Inventory, pricing and product descriptions are maintained in a database and in NetSuite by employees 2) New products are added to the database via import 3) Twice a week data is extracted into a giant Excel spreadsheet 4) The Excel file adjusts pricing based on some simple algorithms 5) The Excel file exports about six different csv feeds which are manually uploaded to Amazon, 3d cart, Yahoo, Google and Merchant Advantage a. Some products are not sent to all feeds 6) Orders are manually parsed and the inventory is adjusted as needed once product is sold The new solution should: 1) Import data from ODBC, CSV and NetSuite (CSV via ftp) 2) Apply pricing changes via simple algorithms (< $80 add $10, $200 add $25) 3) Ensure margins are being met 4) Format and generate a bunch of CSV and XML feeds 5) Perhaps upload feeds to shopping engines automatically What I need to do is replace the Excel file with something that is maintainable and automated. Something in the .Net stack is preferable but not mandatory. I’ve been looking at BizTalk but it may take too long to develop and deploy. Any suggestions?

• install red5 demos via installer or within war file manually

  I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 and installed the red5-server package. I've also downloaded oflaDemo.war file from that address. First I tried to install the oflaDemo via installer, but I couldnt reach the goal. I see the .war file under the /tmp directory, I got stuck with this message: "This may take a couple minutes, please wait". After that, I put the downloaded war file into the /webapps directory and wait 10 minutes as mentioned in red5-common.xml. Unfortunately, nothing changed ... So I decided to extract war file manually. I did this: jar -xvf oflaDemo.war Ok, I see all of the unzipped content under the webapps directory, but how can I preview the demo via a web browser? I really need to make live stream via Red5. Please help me.
