• Forcing Reload of View when returning from FlipSideView of Utility Application

  I've got a Utility Application for iPhone 3.1.3. I have my main view loading fine. I flip over to the flipside view of the utility app and change some settings. How can I call the code I've currently got in viewDidLoad in the main view to refresh it, as settings have changed? Do I create a public method and call it from the viewDidUnload method of the flipside view? Do I call viewDidLoad directly? What's the best way to do this?

  I am about to have some fun with the css transform matrix and javascript. At the moment everything is cool, except when a number becomes something like 0.000034e3344 after the to string conversion. Than the transform does not work. So I know that there is the Number.toFixed() method which actually solves the problem, but i ask myself how many trailing decimals make sense. So what is the highest value i can pass to the toFixed() method to get the most precise results? EDIT::: the exact number output was: 9.685539407532573e-20

  I have a class ClassToTest which has a dependency on ClassToMock. public class ClassToMock { private static final String MEMBER_1 = FileReader.readMemeber1(); protected void someMethod() { ... } } The unit test case for ClassToTest. public class ClassToTestTest { private ClassToMock _mock; @Before public void setUp() throws Exception { _mock = mock(ClassToMock.class) } } When mock is called in the setUp() method, FileReader.readMemeber1(); is executed. Is there a way to avoid this? I think one way is to initialize the MEMBER_1 inside a method. Any other alternatives? Thanks!

• C# compile error for simple Annual Salary Calculator

  I am new to C# and trying to create my 1st app. I have 3 errors. The first two say that txtSalary and Salary do not exist. The 3rd says that it cannot convert method group 'ToString' to non-delegate type 'string'. and asks if I intend to invoke the method. Here is what I have: protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { int salary, AnnualHours, Rate; string txtAnnualHours, txtSalary, txtRate; salary = AnnualHours * Rate; txtsalary = int.Parse(Salary); txtAnnualHours = salary.ToString; MessageBox.Show(salary); } According to my book, when you enter numerics in AnnualHours and Rate textbox, when click Button1, these values are converted from string to integers, then multiplied for salary. Then numeric answer converted to string and displayed in messagebox named txtSalary. Please show me what I got wrong because according to the book, I am not missing anything.

  Hi, i'm trying to create a watch method for HTML elements, using __define[GS]etter__ when a property is changed. It reacts just fine when i set the value, but if the property listened to, is innerHTML, it somehow fails to render the given string. So basically, when im adding something to innerHTML it doesn't show. Im using the watch method described in this previous question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1269633/javascript-watch-for-object-properties-changes I could of cause just not listen to innerHTML changes, but i'm also wondering if the __defineSetter__ somehow prevents original handling of setting the value.   Im trying to create a xml file from a POJO , in which i have a property that stores urls, I have been using the below method to replace all & in the url String to make the xml conform to standards and pass it as an html char entity but the string does not change. public static String forHrefAmpersand(String aURL){ return aURL.replaceAll("&", "&"); } the value might be www.abc.com/controller?a=1&next=showResults I have even tried changing the above method to use "/" as i read replaceAll uses regular expression but replaceAll is not working as exprected, Can anyone tell me what is the mistake im doing ?   I have a problem with VB and Moq. I need to call a verify on a Sub. Like so: logger.Verify(Function(x) x.Log, Times.AtLeastOnce) And my logger looks like this: Public Interface ILogger Sub Log() End Interface But with VB this is not possible, because the Log method is a Sub, and thereby does not produce a value. I don't want to change the method to be a function. Whats the cleanest way of working around this limitation and is there any way to wrap the Sub as a Function like the below? logger.Verify(Function(x) ToFunc(AddressOf x.Log)) I have tried this, but i get: Lambda Parameter not in scope

• Grails unit testing and bootstrap

  I wrote an unit test for a controller. I have a Bootstrap file which alter the metaclass of domain classes by adding a method asPublicMap(). I use this method in the controller to return domain classes as json but only some selected public fields. My unit test failed because of MissingMethodException for asPublicMap(). As I understood, bootstrap classes are not loaded for unit tests, only for integration tests. That's why I got this error. My question is : Is there another place to put metaclass manipulation in order to take them into account during unit tests ?

• ASP.NET Speed up DataView sorting/paging

  I have a page in ASP.NET where I'm using a Repeater to display a record listing. But it's slow as molasses, I've been tasked with speeding it up (sorting,paging). I've got it set up as follows: When user enters page, grab all of the data from the database (500 records, up to 4 relation'ed records) Store it all in Application["MyDataView"] On sort or paging, simply use the data view's internal sort/page method (no db calls) and rebind. I understand that databases can take time to query, but simply to have the DataView call it's sort method (no db calls) takes 10ish seconds, that's an alarmingly slow. Two questions: Why is it taking so long? How can I speed it up? A gridview is not possible.

• DDD: Where to create entity objects?

  I have three entities that must interact: User, SupportTicketand PhoneConversation. When someone calls in requesting help, the User should have a SupportTicket assigned to him, with a PhoneConversation assigned to the Ticked describing the call. My question is: In what entity should I put the method CreatePhoneSupportTicket() that creates a new SupportTicket and a PhoneConversation, relates them to each other and finally relates the SupportTicket to the User? I'm guessing it can't be on the user because that would violate the SRP (the user does a few more things). But the method itself does more than one thing, it should create both a SupportTicket and a PhoneConversation. Is this a situation when a Service is a better solution then putting methods on entities? Thanks for your help!

  Say I want to create an array of pixel values to pass into the createBitmap method described here. I have three int values r, g, b in the range 0 - 0xff. How do I transform those into a opaque pixel p? Does the alpha channel go in the high byte or the low byte? I googled up the documentation but it only states that: Each pixel is stored on 4 bytes. Each channel (RGB and alpha for translucency) is stored with 8 bits of precision (256 possible values.) This configuration is very flexible and offers the best quality. • iPhone animation with stretchable image

  I got a UIView subclass that draws a UIImage as its background. The image is created using the stretchableImageWithLeftCapWidth:topCapHeight: method, it has round edges. I also use an animation block inside of which I resize my view. I had hoped that during animation, the drawRect:method would get called sometimes, which would result in the background image getting drawn correctly. Unfortunately, the animation seems to render the image and then just rescale it during the animation, which obviously makes the formerly round edges getting nastily stretched. The only workaround I can imagine is put three separate UIImageViews (top cap, middle fill, bottom cap) above my original background image and then reposition the caps images and scaling the fill image. However, this seems quite complicated... Is there any better way I can prevent this from happening?

• How do I make my applet turn the user's input into an integer and compare it to the computer's random number?

  I'm in beginning programming and I don't fully understand applets yet. However, (with some help from internet tutorials) I was able to create an applet that plays a game of guess with the user. • Troubles with NSString writeToFile

  Hi everyone, I have been working on a simple text editor in Cocoa/Objective-C for a practice project and I have come across an error that I would never have expected. I have an NSString for my file's contents as well as an NSString for it's path. When I attempt to write the contents to a file, I use the following method: [FileContents writeToFile: CurrentFileName atomically: NO encoding: NSStringEncoding error: nil]; I've used this method many times without error yet today, I am getting an error: "Expected expression before 'NSStringEncoding'" If anyone can help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated. I can't figure out what could be causing the error. Thanks a lot!

• Activiti Engine: Task Event - User is null

  I have a problem, which should be simple to solve, but i can't find the method to call to solve this problem: My problem is, that every Task Event (org.activiti.engine.task.Event) returnes null by calling Event.getUserId(); If I take a look into the database I see that the database table ACT_HI_COMMENT has null as value for the column USER_ID_ for every row. I generate these TaskEvents programmatically by calling (for example) processEngine.getTaskService().addComment(task.getId(), null, commentMessage); processEngine.getTaskService().addUserIdentityLink(task.getId(), user.getId(), IDENTITY_LINK_OBSERVER); I guess there is a simple method that I must call to solve this problem, something like processEngine.setCurrentUser(authenticatedUser.getId()); Any suggestions?

• How to prevent robots from automatically filling up a form?

  I'm trying to come up with a good enough anti-spamming mechanism to prevent automatically generated input. I've read that techniques like captcha, 1+1=? stuff work well, but they also present an extra step impeding the free quick use of the application. (I'm not looking for anything like that please). I've tried setting some hidden fields in all of my forms, with display: none; However, I'm almost certain a robot (which is essentially a program) can be configured to trace that form field id and simply not fill it. Do you implement/know of a good anti automatic-form-filling-robots method? Is there something that can be done seamlessly with HTML AND/OR server side processing, and be (almost) foolproof? (and please no JS, one could simply disable it, and there goes my anti-spam method). Btw I'm trying not to rely on sessions for this (like, counting how many times a button is clicked to prevent overloads).

Note: Other HTTP request methods, such as PUT and DELETE, can also be used here, but they are not supported by all browsers. So... Does that mean that PUT and DELETE won't work if the browser does not support it, or just that PUT and DELETE can not be done natively by the user in the browser? If I can't or shouldn't use those, what do people usually do instead? Send the method as a a GET or POST parameter instead? Or?

The second has a nicer syntax but loads the entire list of that accounts projects, then does in memory filtering.
