  • User interface for addition/deletion of items to a list?

    I have a ban list that I'm building as part of an application that displays articles. This ban list will contain keywords, which if found in an article, would lead to the article disabled(the article will not be displayed on the front-end) I'm having a tough time visualizing the UI. I could always display a textarea and ask the user to enter keywords comma separated and when they want to delete again the textarea will be presented and they can edit the entered keywords. But I find my idea very unfriendly to the user. My question is how do I program the UI so that its easy to add new keywords. I also would like to be adviced on a nifty way showing the existing keywords and also deleting them. This ban list will be part of the admin panel/backend and will be accessible only to the site administrator.

    This may seem a strange question, but is it possible to disable javascript for the printed version of a webpage? The reason being, it causes the printout's layout to all be on top of each other. But if I turn off javascript it works fine. Any ideas?

    Hi, so I've got this content loader that replaces content within a div with content from a separate page. But the content that arrives contains a menu that uses jQuery and this is not working. Someone told me I need to reinitialize the code. But how do I do that?     I have a table (3x3) that counts "< /form" as space in IE. The code for 1 td looks like: <style type="text/css"> table { border-width: 0px; border-collapse: collapse; padding: 0px; } td, th { padding: 0px; } </style> <table><tr><td><form name="form" action="index.php" method="post"><input type="hidden" name="from" value="a" /><input type="image" src="pic1.gif" alt="1" name="submit" value="submit" /></form></td> There is no spaces anywhere outside the tags. Inside the td, there is a form, with a hidden field and a picture. Firefox shows only the picture, but IE has spaces between the rows. I did a little debugging, and found it was from the /form. Does anyone know a fix to this?

  • Drop down selection not registered when form submitted quickly?!

    Hello all, I have noticed a strange thing that happens on my web app when the server is under heavy loads (I am remoting on to the Windows Server). I have a drop down box which is generated dynamically (server side). When I make a selection and quickly press the submit button to indicate my selection the next page does not register my selection but if I do it a bit more slowly it will. I have not come across this before, has anyone? I know its a small issue but there are a lot of "trigger happy", including me... should I put a delay before the form is submitted? If I do, I can only guess the right amount of time. Or is there an underlying problem with my web app? Thanks all

  • Selecting an option with javascript

    I have a drop down menu that I want to have selected on page load. This is what I'm using at the moment: var selector = document.getElementById("action_person").firstChild; var n = 0; while(selector.options[n] != null) { if(selector.options[n].value == "person") { selector.options.selectedIndex = n; } n++; } I've also tried replacing selector.options.selectedIndex = n with selector.options[n].selected = true. However, it never selects for me. It always shows the item at the top of the drop down. I've verified that the value "person" does exist in the drop down, and that the variable "selector" does point to a valid drop down. What am I doing wrong here?

  • advanced css: top and bottom with flexible centre

    is it possible with just css2 to have the following: all the content to be in the flexible div.mid section overlap the top and bottom parts not fussed about ie6 here's the photoshop with centre slice: as you can see the top and bottom parts are quite large and i need to overlap them from the middle slice... Please dont misunderstand here, i understand how to make a flexible central div, the complexity is in the overlapping of the top and bottom while the mid div remains flexible. I imagine it requires either negative margins or absolutely position top and bottoms elements with z-index..

    Hi all, I am trying to use a jquery lightbox implementation on my website that is generated from Restructured Text. The lightbox takes the title of the link around the images as the caption of the image in the lightbox display. However, I can't seem to find a way in Restructured Text of providing a title attribute on a link - does anyone know of a way of doing so. My Images are defined like so: .. image:: image001.thumb.jpg :alt: Some alt text here :target: image001.jpg So I can add an alt attribute, but not a title. A possible alternative may be to use a target as the reference like so: .. image:: image001.thumb.jpg :alt: Some alt text here :target: image1_ .. _image1: image001.jpg In this latter case, I am not sure how to add attributes to the link defined at the bottom (if it is possible at all)

  • Why does one of two identical Javascripts work in Firefox?

    Hi, I have two image swap functions and one works in Firefox and the other does not. The swap functions are identical and both work fine in IE. Firefox does not even recognize the images as hyperlinks. I am very confused and I hope some one can shed some light on this for me. Thank you very much in advance for any and all help. FYI: the working script swaps by onClick via DIV elements and the non-working script swaps onMouseOver/Out via "a" elements. Remember both of these work just fine in IE.     Does anybody know how to center align a DIV that has the display set to inline-block? I cannot set the display to block because I have a background image that needs to be repeated, and it needs to expand based on the content. It sits inside of a parent div, in which is larger when it comes to width. So all in all. Does anyone have a fix to center align a div with the display set to inline-block?
