Why's that?

  • determine week when pick a day

    I'm trying to accomplish the following task. I'm developing a custom calendar with three views (day,week and month), there may be something out there already but I'm rewriting this as part of learning tool for me as well. So user will face with Day view when they first visit, with arrows to go back and forth to next day or previous day of course. If they click on Week View, it will give them a 7 days overview with today date as default, and once again they can go back and forth to next week or previous week. The last view is the full month calendar, once they click on the day, it will give them the detail of the day and at the same time reset the default as the day they pick. So if they go back to week view, they will see the detail for the week contain the day that they picked. This is where I have trouble wrapping my head around with, I know there are PHP functions that determine the day of the week but I can't seem to think about how to pass in the date and get the full week starting from Sunday for the day that passed in. For example, if I passed in 10/12/2012, I'd like to start the week at 10/07/12 - 10/13/12. Thank you kindly for your help or pointing to the right direction. Please excuse my grammar/spelling mistakes as well.

    Hi, is it possible to have the controller value in a rails named route as a parameter, which I can pass at runtime to direct the call to the proper controller? e.g. map.ride 'ride' ,:controller = {some-way-of-specifying-a-parameter}, :action = 'ride' then at runtime, I want to pass the controller name to which this call should be going.     How do I use the back and forward browser buttons to navigate my javascript/jQuery web application? I know I can do window.location.href = 'this_url#placeholder' and then perform the appropriate action. But when I do that, the browser scrolls to the element with that placeholder id (or to the top if there wasn't one). How do I get the browser to not scroll anywhere? I've seen this on other sites like facebook, what's the appropriate mechanism for this?

I have a pages controller with a few static pages, for the home page I simply have def home @title = 'Home and similar for contact pages etc. Then in my main layout file I have <body class="<%= @title %>"> and this works fine to set the correct css, but how do I set @title for my other controllers where there's more than one action?

    I have a website that contains multiple pages as layers (not as separate HTML files). I have three images: <img src="image1.png" onclick="showlayer(1);return false;" /> <br /> <img src="image2.png" onclick="showlayer(2);return false;" /> <br /> <img src="image3.png" onclick="showlayer(3);return false;" /> When an image is clicked, it shows the relevant layer and hides the others. I want it to also change the image to image1_active.png / image2_active.png / image3_active.png depending on which layer is visible (not via the onclick event handler). Why not via the onclick event handler?... Layer 1 is set as visible by default in the CSS, so image1 needs to be image1_active.png by default too - since the user has not had to click on anything yet, this is why I need the image switch to detect the layer's visibility/display to change the image. The showlayer script is: function showlayer(n){ for(i=1;i<=3;i++){document.getElementById("layer"+i).style.display="none";document.getElementById("layer"+n).style.display="block"; }} Is it possible to adapt this script for this purpose? thank you
